Founder Diaries · Home Fragrance · How Many to Buy
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 14 min read Updated August 2026
This is the last page of a hundred, so it is the one that has to hold everything. How many machines, which fragrances in which rooms, and the exact point at which you stop buying Sukoons and buy something else — for every home in India, with every figure worked out.
Quick answers — read this first
Machines: one Sukoon (₹1,899) per room you close the door on, up to four.

Fragrances: one per bedroom plus a shared signature — three to seven from the Hotel Collection range.

Vaayu: at four machines, at a connected space bigger than one Sukoon, or at any double-height room. ₹11,999.
The short answer
Short answer: buy one Sukoon (₹1,899, 270–320 sq ft, three 15ml scents included) for every room you close the door on, up to about four. Choose one Hotel Collection fragrance per bedroom plus a shared signature. Switch to a waterless Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) when you pass four machines, when a connected space exceeds one Sukoon's reach, or when a room is double-height.
The pick by home: studio ₹1,899 · 1BHK ₹3,798 · 2BHK ₹3,798–₹5,697 · 3BHK ₹5,697 · duplex ₹5,697–₹17,696 · 4BHK ₹19,595 · villa ₹19,595–₹23,393. An Aangan (₹25,999) replaces the Vaayu in a centrally ducted home.
Shop: the Sukoon, the Vaayu, the Aangan and the Hotel Collection from ₹299.
Straight answer
How many Sukoons, which Hotel Collection fragrances, and when should you choose a Vaayu?
1. How many: one Sukoon per room you close the door on. Studio 1 (₹1,899), 1BHK 2 (₹3,798), 2BHK 2–3 (₹3,798–₹5,697), 3BHK 3 (₹5,697). Count doors, never square feet.

2. Which fragrances: one per bedroom plus a shared signature. Ritz-Carlton-inspired for the shared route, St. Regis-inspired for the master, Westin-inspired for guests. Each machine brings three 15ml bottles free.

3. When Vaayu: at four machines, at a connected space bigger than one Sukoon, or at any double-height room. ₹11,999, waterless, up to 1000m³, app-scheduled.

4. Keep the Sukoons when you upgrade. They move to the bedrooms, where individual control is the point. Vaayu + 4 Sukoons is ₹19,595.

5. Once every room has a machine, only buy bottles. The Pack of 7 at ₹1,799 is about ₹257 each; a 300ml 300ml refill at ₹1,799 is roughly ₹6 per ml.

A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: one Sukoon per closed door up to four, one fragrance per person plus a shared signature, and a Vaayu once you pass four machines or hit a large connected or double-height space.
SOSA Sukoon
The unit of measurement
SOSA Sukoon ₹1,899
One 500ml ultrasonic diffuser covering 270–320 sq ft — which is one closed room in almost every Indian home. 16–18 hours per fill on low, remote, 2H/4H timers, and three 15ml Hotel Collection scents of your choice included, so each machine you add also adds three fragrances.

Part one — how many machines

The rule that runs through all hundred articles in this series is one sentence long, and the reason it works is physical rather than commercial: fragrance is stopped by a closed door long before it is exhausted by distance. So doors are the unit of measurement, and every home in India answers itself in about a minute.

1
THE RULE
One machine per room you close the door on
Walk your home and count the spaces you have to open something to enter, ignoring the ones you never use. That number is your Sukoon count, up to about four. The classic error is dividing floor area by the 270–320 sq ft rating, which over-orders in open flats and under-orders in partitioned ones — 400 sq ft is one machine as a studio and three as a 2BHK.
2
THE ORDER
Living room, then where you sleep, then scent
The living room is usually the largest enclosed space, carries the first impression and absorbs cooking, so it goes first — unless you are out all day and your bedroom doubles as your desk, in which case reverse it. The bedroom is second. The third purchase in most homes is not a machine at all; it is fragrance.
The staged approach: buy one, live with it a fortnight, then add. Nothing becomes redundant, each machine brings three more 15ml bottles, and most people stop one machine earlier than they expected.
3
THE EXCEPTIONS
Volume, vertical, and rooms nobody uses
Three things break the rule. A double-height or loft space has far more air than its footprint suggests. A staircase is a chimney rather than a corridor, so every storey counts separately however open the stairwell looks. And a guest room used twice a year is reed diffuser territory from ₹749 — machines belong in rooms with hours in them.

The three machines that cover every home
The SOSA principle
Count the doors you close. Then buy one fewer machine than you think, and one more bottle.
A hundred articles, and that is the whole of it. The homes that smell best are never the ones with the most hardware.

Part two — which fragrances, room by room

The Hotel Collection range is seven scents, and each Sukoon arrives with three 15ml bottles of your choice at ₹1,899 — so three machines with three different trios chosen at checkout covers the entire range for free. That is the single most useful piece of buying advice in this series and it costs nothing to act on. Bought separately, 15ml is ₹299, 100ml ₹999, 300ml ₹1,799, and the Pack of 7 is ₹1,799 — about ₹257 a bottle against ₹2,093 for seven singly.

For the shared route — entrance, living, dining — run something clean and low in sweetness, because it has to sit under cooking and suit everybody. The Ritz-Carlton-inspired (white tea, bergamot, cedar) is the safest choice in almost any home; the Westin-inspired (white tea, aloe, cedar) is a shade drier if the kitchen is open. For a master bedroom, the St. Regis-inspired (amber, violet, woods) — warm and low, and better after eight than in the afternoon. For a study or anyone who thinks they dislike scented rooms, 1 Hotels-inspired (cedarwood, vetiver, green leaves). For a guest room, the most neutral thing you own, which is the Westin-inspired again.

The remaining three have narrower jobs. Shangri-La-inspired (jasmine, green tea, white tea) and Four Seasons-inspired (citrus, floral, sandalwood) are the two florals — lovely in a 2BHK living room or a bathroom, and the ones to avoid as an all-day scent in a studio where you cook in the same air. W Hotels-inspired (citrus, pepper, amber) is the liveliest and suits a daytime work space. And whatever you choose, keep neighbouring rooms related: cedar links three of the seven and white tea links three, and adjacency built on a shared note is what makes a home read as one thing.

A hundred articles, and it comes to this — count the doors, choose three scents carefully, and then leave it alone.

Part three — when to choose Vaayu

The last decision, and the one where the money is largest. Three thresholds, any one of which means stop adding ultrasonic machines and change technology instead.

Boond 300ml mini ultrasonic Bathrooms, en-suites, small closed pockets ₹899
Megh 6-litre ultrasonic — the largest water-based option One genuinely large enclosed room, not a whole home ₹3,499
Vaayu Waterless cold-air nebuliser, up to 1000m³, app + timer, under 38dB Past four machines, large connected space, or double-height ₹11,999
Aangan HVAC nebulising diffuser, 8,000–10,000 sq ft A centrally ducted villa or large home ₹25,999
Hotel Collection Seven water-based scents; 15ml / 100ml / 300ml / Pack of 7 Always — and three come free with every Sukoon ₹299–₹1,799
Honest notes for buyers: the Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is why a studio needs exactly one and a 3BHK needs three or a Vaayu instead. Ultrasonic diffusers are water-based and add a little humidity to the room, which is a benefit in an AC-dry home and a consideration in a damp coastal one; they run SOSA's own water-based Hotel Collection fragrance and nothing else, because thicker essential and carrier oils clog the 2.4MHz misting plate. The Vaayu and the HVAC systems are waterless nebulisers running undiluted oil — a different technology, not a bigger Sukoon, and the better choice for long daily runs across connected space. Fragrance layers on top of clean air; it does not replace an extractor fan, an open window or a bin that gets emptied. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
SOSA Vaayu
When counting stops working
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999
A waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ with Bluetooth scheduling and under 38dB running noise. This is what replaces the count once your connected, doorless space is bigger than one Sukoon can hold — not a bigger Sukoon, a different technology. It does not run the water-based Hotel Collection bottles.

A note from Sonal

This is the hundredth article in this series and I have spent most of it talking people out of things, which is not what you expect from a founder writing about her own products. But the honest position has not changed since the first page: most homes need fewer machines and more thought than they think.

The rule survives everything. Count the doors you close. One machine each, up to four, then a waterless system for whatever is connected. One fragrance per person and one for the shared route. Buy the machines, collect the bottles that come with them, and then stop — because a house that smells considered is a house where somebody chose three scents carefully and left them alone for a year.

Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How many Sukoons do I need for my home?
One for every room you close the door on, up to about four. Studio 1 (₹1,899), 1BHK 2 (₹3,798), 2BHK 2–3 (₹3,798–₹5,697), 3BHK 3 (₹5,697). Count doors rather than square feet — fragrance is stopped by walls long before it runs out of reach.
Which Hotel Collection fragrance should I buy first?
The Ritz-Carlton-inspired — white tea, bergamot and cedar — for the shared living space, because it is clean, low in sweetness and sits under cooking smells. Add the St. Regis-inspired (amber, violet, woods) for a master bedroom. Both come free with a Sukoon if you choose them as part of your trio.
When should I buy a Vaayu instead of more Sukoons?
At about four machines, when a connected doorless space is bigger than one Sukoon can hold, or when a room is double-height. The Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless nebuliser rated to 1000m³ — a different technology, not a bigger Sukoon, and it does not run the water-based Hotel Collection bottles.
How many fragrances should I own?
One per bedroom plus a shared signature — three for a couple, four or five for a family, all seven for a villa. Each Sukoon includes three 15ml bottles, so three machines with three different trios chosen at checkout covers the entire range without buying a bottle separately.
What is the cheapest complete home fragrance setup?
One Sukoon at ₹1,899 covers a studio entirely, including three 15ml scents. A 1BHK is ₹3,798 for two machines and six scents. Below that, a reed diffuser from ₹749 scents a corner rather than a room.
