Founder Diaries · Home Fragrance · How Many to Buy
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated August 2026
Every home type in this series reduces to the same three decisions: how many rooms have doors, how much space is connected, and how many people want a say. Answer those and the right setup is arithmetic — here it is worked out for every home in India.
Quick answers — read this first
The method: one Sukoon (₹1,899) per enclosed room, up to four. Past that, a Vaayu (₹11,999) for connected space.

The scents: one per bedroom plus a shared signature.

The range: ₹1,899 for a studio to ₹23,393 for a villa.
The short answer
Short answer: one Sukoon for each enclosed room you use, up to about four; beyond that a waterless Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) takes over the connected common areas while Sukoons stay in bedrooms. Fragrances follow people rather than rooms — one per bedroom plus a signature for shared space.
The pick by home: studio ₹1,899, 1BHK ₹3,798, 2BHK ₹3,798–₹5,697, 3BHK ₹5,697, duplex ₹5,697–₹17,696, 4BHK ₹19,595, villa ₹19,595–₹23,393. An Aangan (₹25,999) replaces the Vaayu in a ducted home.
Shop: the Sukoon, the Vaayu and the Hotel Collection from ₹299.
Straight answer
What is the best SOSA setup for fragrancing an entire home?
1. One Sukoon per enclosed room you use — up to four. ₹1,899 each, three 15ml Hotel Collection scents included with every machine.

2. Past four rooms, or for any large connected space, add a Vaayu. ₹11,999, waterless, up to 1000m³, app-scheduled — and keep the Sukoons in the bedrooms.

3. For a ducted home, an Aangan (₹25,999) instead of the Vaayu, running one signature through 8,000–10,000 sq ft of conditioned space.

4. Fragrances follow people. One scent per bedroom, chosen by whoever sleeps there, plus one shared signature for the common route.

5. Then stop buying machines and buy bottles. Once every room has one, a ₹299 bottle changes the home and a fifth machine does not.

A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: one Sukoon per enclosed room up to four, a Vaayu for connected space beyond that, one fragrance per person plus a shared signature — from ₹1,899 for a studio to ₹23,393 for a villa.
SOSA Sukoon
The unit of measurement
SOSA Sukoon ₹1,899
One 500ml ultrasonic diffuser covering 270–320 sq ft — which is one closed room in almost every Indian home. 16–18 hours per fill on low, remote, 2H/4H timers, and three 15ml Hotel Collection scents of your choice included, so each machine you add also adds three fragrances.

The three-question method

Every recommendation in this hundred-post series comes out of the same three questions. They take about a minute to answer for your own home and they produce a specific number and a specific list.

1
QUESTION ONE
How many rooms do you close a door on?
That is your Sukoon count, up to four. Not square feet — doors. Four hundred square feet needs one machine as a studio and three as a 2BHK, because fragrance is stopped by walls long before it is exhausted by distance. Count the spaces you have to open something to enter, ignore the ones you never use, and that number is what to buy.
2
QUESTION TWO
How much of the home is connected?
Walk it with the internal doors as you normally leave them. Everything you can reach without opening anything is one volume. If that volume is bigger than a single Sukoon can hold — an open living-dining, an entrance flowing into a hall, anything double-height — it wants a Vaayu rather than more ultrasonic units.
The combined answer: most homes above 2,000 sq ft end up with one waterless machine for the connected half and one Sukoon per bedroom. That is the setup, and it costs ₹19,595 with four bedrooms.
3
QUESTION THREE
How many people want a say?
This decides fragrances rather than machines. One scent per person with their own room, plus one shared signature for the common route. A couple lands on three; a family of four on four or five; a villa household on all seven. And each Sukoon arrives with three 15ml bottles, so choosing different trios at checkout usually covers the whole list without a separate purchase.

The whole-home system
The SOSA principle
Rooms decide the machines. People decide the fragrances. Connected space decides the technology.
Three questions, and every home in India answers itself in about a minute.

The scents that go in them

The hardware is the easier half. For the shared route — entrance, living, dining — run something clean and low in sweetness, because it has to sit under cooking and be tolerable to everyone. The Ritz-Carlton-inspired (white tea, bergamot, cedar) is the safest choice in almost any home, with the Westin-inspired (white tea, aloe, cedar) a shade drier if your kitchen is open to the living space.

Bedrooms should differ from the shared scent and from each other. The St. Regis-inspired (amber, violet, woods) is the classic master-bedroom choice — warm and low, and better after eight than at three in the afternoon. 1 Hotels-inspired (cedarwood, vetiver, green leaves) suits a study or a room whose occupant thinks they dislike scented rooms. And a guest room should be the most neutral thing you own, which is the Westin-inspired again — a guest should not sleep in somebody else's taste.

Keep neighbouring rooms related. Cedar runs through the Ritz-Carlton-inspired, Westin-inspired and 1 Hotels-inspired; white tea through the Ritz-Carlton-inspired, Westin-inspired and Shangri-La-inspired. Choosing adjacent rooms from scents that share a note is what makes a house feel like one considered thing rather than a series of unrelated decisions — and it costs nothing to get right.

Rooms decide the machines. People decide the fragrances. Connected space decides the technology.

1. Sukoon × rooms ★ One per enclosed room, up to four; three 15ml scents with each First — and pick a different trio each time ₹1,899 each
2. 300ml refill Months of the shared signature at roughly ₹6 per ml Once you know which scent runs the most hours ₹1,799
3. Extra scents / Pack of 7 A scent per person; the full range at about ₹257 a bottle When every room has a machine ₹299 / ₹1,799
4. Vaayu Connected common space, waterless, up to 1000m³, scheduled Past four rooms, or any large open or double-height space ₹11,999
5. Boond Bathrooms, en-suites, small closed pockets Last, and only behind a door that stays shut ₹899
If ducted: Aangan One signature through 8,000–10,000 sq ft of conditioned space Instead of the Vaayu, in a centrally ducted home ₹25,999
Honest notes for buyers: the Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is why a studio needs exactly one and a 3BHK needs three or a Vaayu instead. Ultrasonic diffusers are water-based and add a little humidity to the room, which is a benefit in an AC-dry home and a consideration in a damp coastal one; they run SOSA's own water-based Hotel Collection fragrance and nothing else, because thicker essential and carrier oils clog the 2.4MHz misting plate. The Vaayu and the HVAC systems are waterless nebulisers running undiluted oil — a different technology, not a bigger Sukoon, and the better choice for long daily runs across connected space. Fragrance layers on top of clean air; it does not replace an extractor fan, an open window or a bin that gets emptied. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
SOSA Vaayu
When counting stops working
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999
A waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ with Bluetooth scheduling and under 38dB running noise. This is what replaces the count once your connected, doorless space is bigger than one Sukoon can hold — not a bigger Sukoon, a different technology. It does not run the water-based Hotel Collection bottles.

A note from Sonal

A hundred articles is a lot of ways to say a fairly small number of things, so if you only read one page of this series, this is the one. Count the doors, look at what is connected, and ask who wants a say. Everything else in the range follows from those three answers.

What I would add is the thing I have repeated most often and believe most strongly: buy fewer machines than you think and more fragrance. The homes that smell best are almost never the ones with the most hardware in them — they are the ones where somebody chose three scents carefully and then left it alone.

Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best SOSA setup for a whole home?
One Sukoon (₹1,899) per enclosed room you use, up to about four, then a waterless Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) for connected common space beyond that, with Sukoons staying in the bedrooms. Fragrances follow people: one per bedroom plus a shared signature.
How much does it cost to fragrance a whole home?
₹1,899 for a studio, ₹3,798 for a 1BHK, ₹3,798–₹5,697 for a 2BHK, ₹5,697 for a 3BHK, and ₹19,595–₹23,393 for a 4BHK or villa using a Vaayu with bedroom Sukoons. Every machine includes three 15ml Hotel Collection scents.
Should every room in the house have the same fragrance?
The shared route — entrance, living, dining — should, and bedrooms should not. Keep neighbouring rooms related by a shared note: cedar links the Ritz-Carlton-inspired, Westin-inspired and 1 Hotels-inspired; white tea links the Ritz-Carlton-inspired, Westin-inspired and Shangri-La-inspired.
What is the single most important rule?
Count doors, not square feet. Fragrance is stopped by a closed door long before it is exhausted by distance, which is why 400 sq ft needs one machine as a studio and three as a 2BHK despite identical floor area.
When do I stop buying machines?
When every enclosed room you actually use has one — or at four machines, whichever comes first. After that, a ₹299 Hotel Collection bottle changes the home and a fifth machine does not, and large connected spaces want a Vaayu rather than more ultrasonic units.
