Why is more fragrance not the answer to dust in a Jaipur commercial space?
Because fragrance and dust combine rather than cancel, and because the dust is doing several things a machine cannot address. What dust does to a room's smell: accumulated dust on surfaces, in carpets, curtains and upholstery, and inside air-conditioning filters produces a dry, flat, faintly mineral character that most people recognise immediately as a room that needs cleaning. Adding a fragrance over it does not remove that character; it sits beside it, and the combination is generally judged worse than the dust alone, in the same way a covered smell is more distracting than an open one. Dust also works against the machine mechanically. Combination, not replacement
You end up with both
Ambient fragrance does not remove an existing smell; it adds to the air. Nearly every call that starts with the machine being too weak ends somewhere else. In Jaipur it is usually one of three things: a filter nobody has cleaned since installation, a door that opens more often than anyone counted, or a room that shares air with a space nobody included in the sizing. The machine is generally doing what it was asked to do; the room was described optimistically.
Dust deserves its own paragraph because the instinct is exactly backwards. Adding fragrance to a dusty room does not make it smell clean. It makes it smell of dust and fragrance, which is worse, and it burns oil at a rate nobody enjoys. Filtration, door seals, mats and a cleaning rota first. Then the air is worth doing something with.
