The arithmetic everybody starts with is 2,000 square feet at a ten-foot ceiling, which is 20,000 cubic feet, which is about 566 cubic metres. That number is correct and it is the wrong number to buy against, because a law office is the most partitioned floor plan in this entire bank. Partner cabins with doors, meeting rooms with doors, a library, a file store, and an open associates' area. You are not scenting 566 cubic metres of connected air. You are probably scenting a quarter of it, and that correction is worth more than any product recommendation below.
Quick answers — read this first
What size diffuser does a 2,000 sq ft law office need? Almost always smaller than the floor area suggests. At a ten-foot ceiling, 2,000 sq ft is 20,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 566 cubic metres, and that sits inside the roughly 1000 cubic metres of connected air a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated for - SOSA's own copy puts the Vaayu at 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft evenly. But a law office is not one connected volume. Once you take out the closed cabins, the meeting rooms, the library and the file store, the connected front of house is often only 500 to 700 sq ft, which is 5,000 to 7,000 cubic feet, or about 142 to 198 cubic metres. Against that number a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Megh at Rs 3,499 is frequently the honest answer.

How do I work out the volume I actually need to scent in a law office? Measure only the rooms that share air with each other while the doors are in their normal position. In most firms that is the reception, the waiting area, the corridor and the open associates' area if it is genuinely open to them. Multiply that connected floor area in square feet by the finished ceiling height in feet to get cubic feet, then divide by 35.3 for cubic metres. A 600 sq ft connected front of house at ten feet is 6,000 cubic feet, about 170 cubic metres. The same 600 sq ft under a nine-foot false ceiling is 5,400 cubic feet, about 153 cubic metres. Closed cabins and meeting rooms are separate volumes and a separate decision, usually a reed from Rs 749.

Is a Vaayu overkill for a 2,000 sq ft law firm? It can be, and we would rather say so. The Vaayu at Rs 11,999 covers roughly 1000 cubic metres of connected air; a typical law office front of house is 142 to 198 cubic metres, so the machine would run near the bottom of its range - which is where a law office machine should sit anyway. What the price buys at that size is not coverage but control: waterless cold-air nebulising with no tank, Bluetooth app and timer so the level is locked against the drift that comes from olfactory adaptation, and one even level rather than a cloud round a machine. If the office is genuinely open plan across most of its 2,000 sq ft, the Vaayu is the right answer on volume as well. If it is chopped into cabins, a Sukoon or a Megh probably is.
The short answer
Short answer: A 2,000 sq ft law office at a ten-foot ceiling is 20,000 cubic feet, about 566 cubic metres, which is inside the roughly 1000 cubic metres of connected air a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 covers, and SOSA's own copy states 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft evenly. But a law office is the most partitioned space in this bank: partner cabins, meeting rooms, a library, a file store and an open associates' area. The connected front of house may be only 500 to 700 sq ft, which is 5,000 to 7,000 cubic feet or about 142 to 198 cubic metres, and against that a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Megh at Rs 3,499 is often the right answer. Closed cabins are a separate decision, usually reeds from Rs 749. The file store is never scented. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
Straight answer
What diffuser should a 2,000 sq ft law office buy, and how do I size it properly?
Do the arithmetic twice, and buy against the second number. 1. The headline figure. 2,000 sq ft at a ten-foot ceiling is 20,000 cubic feet; divided by 35.3 that is about 566 cubic metres. A SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated to roughly 1000m³ of connected air, and SOSA's own product copy states 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft evenly, so on the headline figure one Vaayu covers this office with room to spare. 2. The correction that changes the answer. A rating assumes one connected volume, and a law office is the least connected floor plan in commercial property. Take out three or four partner cabins at 120 to 180 sq ft each behind doors, two meeting rooms, a library or reading room, a file store, a pantry and a washroom, and what is left sharing air is a reception, a corridor and perhaps an open associates' bay. In a great many 2,000 sq ft firms that connected front of house is 500 to 700 sq ft: 5,000 to 7,000 cubic feet, or about 142 to 198 cubic metres. 3. The honest recommendation at that volume. A Sukoon (₹1,899) with a water-based register from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299) for a compact enclosed reception, or a Megh 6L (₹3,499) where the reception opens onto a corridor and a waiting area and you want long unattended runs. Both are real answers and neither is a downgrade. 4. When the Vaayu is genuinely the right buy. When the 2,000 sq ft is largely open plan, when the reception, corridor and associates' bay really do share air, when there is a double-height or mezzanine reception, or when you want the schedule and intensity locked in an app rather than left to whoever fills the tank. 5. The rooms that are a separate decision. Closed cabins and closed meeting rooms are their own small volumes - a 150 sq ft cabin at ten feet is 1,500 cubic feet, about 42 cubic metres - and reeds from ₹749 settle most of them. The file store is never scented at all. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with a floor plan and we will size it with you. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: 2,000 sq ft is about 566m³ on paper, but the connected front of house is nearer 142 to 198m³ - so Sukoon ₹1,899 or Megh ₹3,499 is often right, and Vaayu ₹11,999 when the floor is genuinely open. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The commercial standard most businesses choose: the SOSA Vaayu - waterless cold-air scenting to ~1000m³, Bluetooth app and timer, one signature on schedule - at ₹11,999. Single rooms and consultation corners start on reeds from ₹749; cabin systems from ₹1,899; large-premises HVAC from ₹25,999. Sizing the most partitioned floor plan in commercial property

Three sizing errors specific to law offices: counting rooms behind doors, forgetting the finished ceiling, and buying coverage when the real purchase is control.

Why this works
Sizing a law office honestly - the arithmetic that changes the answer
12,000 sq ft at 10 ft = 20,000 cu ft = about 566 cubic metres in total2But cabins, meeting rooms, library and file store are separate volumes3Connected front of house 500-700 sq ft = 5,000-7,000 cu ft = 142-198 m34So Sukoon Rs 1,899 or Megh Rs 3,499 often fits; Vaayu Rs 11,999 if open
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
1
The correction
A law office is eight volumes, not one
Every coverage rating on every diffuser ever sold assumes one connected body of air, and a law firm is the floor plan most determined to defeat that assumption. Confidentiality builds walls: a partner needs a door for a privileged call, a meeting room needs a door for a client conversation, a file store needs a door because of what is in it. So a 2,000 sq ft practice typically breaks into a reception and waiting area of 250 to 400 sq ft, a corridor of 120 to 200 sq ft, three or four partner cabins of 120 to 180 sq ft each, one or two meeting rooms of 180 to 250 sq ft, a library or reading room, a file store of 150 to 300 sq ft, a pantry and a washroom. Run the numbers on what actually shares air. A 600 sq ft connected front of house at a ten-foot ceiling is 6,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 170 cubic metres. A single 150 sq ft cabin at the same height is 1,500 cubic feet, about 42 cubic metres, behind a closed door, and it is a separate purchase costing Rs 749. The firm that thought it was buying for 566 cubic metres is buying for roughly 170, and buying for the part of the office it fully controls. That correction saves most law firms from over-specifying, and it occasionally reveals that a Sukoon was always going to be enough.
Tip: a rating assumes one connected volume - and a law office is built out of doors, by design and for good reason.
2
The ceiling
The variable everybody forgets, and it moves the number by a tenth
Law offices almost always sit under a false ceiling: lighting, air-conditioning ducting, data cabling for a document management system, and in older buildings a run of services that nobody wants to look at. That usually brings the finished height to nine feet, sometimes eight and a half, and it moves the arithmetic in your favour. The whole 2,000 sq ft at nine feet is 18,000 cubic feet, about 510 cubic metres rather than 566. The 600 sq ft connected front of house at nine feet is 5,400 cubic feet, about 153 cubic metres rather than 170. Measure the finished height, not the slab, and measure it in the room you are actually scenting. The exception runs the other way and is worth catching before you buy: the converted bungalow with a twelve-foot ceiling, the heritage chamber with a fourteen-foot one, the newer office with a double-height reception or a mezzanine. A 500 sq ft reception under a fourteen-foot volume is 7,000 cubic feet, about 198 cubic metres, which is well past what a small ultrasonic will hold evenly. Height is not a rounding error in scenting; it is a multiplier, and it is the most common reason a correctly chosen machine reads as absent.
3
The purchase
At this volume you are buying control, not coverage
Be clear about what the money does at 170 cubic metres, because it is not square metres. The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated to roughly 1000m³, which is around six times what a typical law office front of house needs, so it will run near the bottom of its range - and that is exactly where a law office machine belongs. What you are paying for is waterless cold-air nebulising with no tank to fill or descale, Bluetooth app and timer scheduling so the intensity is set once and locked against the slow upward drift that olfactory adaptation produces in every scented office, one even level from the front door to the far waiting chair instead of a cloud around a machine, and headroom if the firm takes the adjoining floor in two years. If that is worth ₹11,999 to you, it is a sound purchase at this size. If it is not, the honest alternative is a Megh 6L at ₹3,499 for an open reception and corridor, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 with a register from ₹299 for a compact enclosed one, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a machine the room does not need. Above one connected Vaayu - a large multi-floor firm, an open plate past about 1000m³ - the answer is SOSA Aangan (₹25,999, approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft on HVAC), SOSA Meenar (₹38,500, 12,000-18,000 sq ft), or several units zoned.
Tip: at 170 cubic metres the Vaayu is not buying you coverage - it is buying you a locked setting and an even room.
The SOSA principle
The floor area is the wrong number. Size the connected air, not the lease - and in a law office, with its cabins and its doors, those two figures are further apart than in any other premises.
566 cubic metres on paper, 142 to 198 in practice. Buy for the second one, and treat every closed cabin as its own small, cheap decision.

Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the full commercial range.

Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.

Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

Should I add the partner cabins into the total volume before choosing a machine?
No, on two separate grounds. First, a cabin behind a closed door is not part of the connected volume the rating describes, so adding it inflates the number you buy against and pushes you up a rung you do not need. Second, a cabin is a personal-space decision belonging to the person who sits in it, and the usual right answer there is a reed diffuser from Rs 749 or nothing at all, not a share of a central machine. Size the connected front of house on its own, buy for that, and let each cabin be settled by its occupant for the price of a bottle. If several cabin doors genuinely stand open all day and the air really is shared, then measure them in - but check that against how the office actually runs rather than how the plan is drawn.
Our office is 2,000 sq ft but spread over two floors. Does that change the sizing?
Yes, and usually decisively. Two floors joined only by a lift and a fire staircase are two separate volumes, and one machine on the lower floor will not reach the upper one no matter what the rating says. Size each floor's connected area on its own: 1,000 sq ft at a ten-foot ceiling is 10,000 cubic feet, about 283 cubic metres per floor, and each needs its own answer. An internal open staircase changes it again, because a stairwell connects the two volumes and moves air upward, which sometimes lets one well-placed machine serve both and sometimes just makes the upper floor smell of the lower one. Send the plan to +91 96192 18531 with the floor levels marked and we will work through it rather than guess.
Does a higher ceiling mean I need a bigger machine or a higher setting?
It means more air, which is a volume question, and the answer is usually a different machine rather than a higher setting on the same one. Running a small ultrasonic hard in a double-height reception produces a strong zone near the machine and nothing at the far end, which is the worst of both outcomes: somebody is over-scented and somebody else thinks it is not working. Do the arithmetic honestly first. A 500 sq ft reception at ten feet is 5,000 cubic feet, about 142 cubic metres; the same room under a fourteen-foot ceiling is 7,000 cubic feet, about 198 cubic metres, and under a twenty-foot double height it is 10,000 cubic feet, about 283 cubic metres. Height is a multiplier, and in a converted bungalow or a heritage chamber it is frequently the reason a correctly sized machine underperforms.
Can one machine cover the reception and the meeting rooms if the doors stay open?
It can while they are open, which is exactly the problem. A meeting room door in a law firm is closed whenever the room is doing its job, so a scheme that depends on it being open is a scheme that fails during every client conversation. If you want the meeting rooms to have any character of their own, treat each as a separate small volume - a 200 sq ft room at ten feet is 2,000 cubic feet, about 57 cubic metres - and give it a reed diffuser from Rs 749 or a small ultrasonic that the room controls. Then let the central machine do the reception and corridor properly. That way the client walks from a scented reception into a room with the same quiet character, and closing the door does not switch it off.
Where in the office should the machine physically sit?
In the connected space, in moving air, and not in anybody's face. In practice that means near the return or supply of the air-conditioning rather than in a dead corner, at a height where the output disperses rather than at floor level behind a plant, and at least a couple of metres from the nearest seat so that no single visitor chair sits in the plume. Do not put it on the reception counter, where it is closest to the one person who breathes it all day and to every client leaning over to sign something. Do not put it inside the file store, which stays unscented. And keep it somewhere the settings are not casually adjusted, which is half the argument for a machine with an app rather than a dial.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA commercial range; the scent-marketing strategy advice applies to any business's systems.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint.
