Everything in this cluster assembled: which spaces need what, how to size and calibrate, how to choose and hold a register, the routine that keeps it steady, what to measure - and the list of things this system will not do.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the complete SOSA jewellery store fragrance system? Six parts: count enclosed air spaces and size by cubic volume, choose one congruent register and hold it, calibrate with an unadapted nose and document it, run a small maintenance routine, measure four ratios against a pre-installation baseline, and observe explicit limits about what the system does not do.

What equipment does a typical jewellery showroom need? A Vaayu (Rs 11,999) for a standard floor up to roughly 1000 cubic metres, or an Aangan (Rs 25,999) for 8,000 to 10,000 square feet through HVAC. Then a Sukoon (Rs 1,799) or Boond (Rs 799) in every enclosed room including consultation rooms and the billing area, with Hotel Collection blends from Rs 299 and refills from Rs 999.

What will a showroom fragrance system not do? It will not directly increase sales, fix or cover an odour source, substitute for ventilation, compensate for weak pricing, inventory or service, or produce results in a store where decisions are never close. It also cannot be judged at six weeks.
The short answer
Short answer: six parts: count enclosed air spaces and size by cubic volume, choose one congruent register and hold it for a decade, calibrate from outside and document, run the weekly-monthly-quarterly routine, measure four ratios against a baseline, and observe the limits. A jewellery purchase is one of the most emotional transactions in Indian retail - trust, celebration and aspiration in one visit. Scent marketing gives that visit a signature: one refined fragrance, held evenly across the showroom, running on a schedule no staff member has to remember. Customers experience it as "this store feels premium" - the exact feeling that precedes a high-value purchase.
Straight answer
Give me the whole system in one place.
Six parts. One: the spaces. Count enclosed air volumes rather than square feet, because air does not cross a closed door. The floor is one, and every consultation room, cabin, enclosed billing area, stairwell and separate waiting room is its own. Size the floor by cubic volume - a Vaayu (₹11,999) covers up to roughly 1000 cubic metres and is HVAC-independent; an Aangan (₹25,999) serves 8,000 to 10,000 square feet through ducting; a Meenar (₹38,500) covers 12,000 to 18,000. Rooms take a Sukoon (₹1,799) or Boond (₹799). Two: the register. One Hotel Collection register (from ₹299) chosen against a written congruence brief, tested in the actual space with outside noses, held for a decade, and used identically in every unit and in the packaging. Three: calibration. Set from outside along the customer path, and from a consultation chair with the door closed - the rooms carry the lowest level in the building. Perceptible on arrival, unnoticed thereafter. Write it down. Four: the routine. Weekly glance, monthly walk-through with the nose reset, quarterly seasonal review, annual audit. Refills (from ₹999) on a dated schedule, one spare held, one named owner. Five: measurement. Baseline four ratios for two weeks before installing - consultation completion, discount depth, return share, review language - then compare quarterly and at twelve months. Direction, not decimals. Six: the limits, stated. It does not directly increase sales. It does not fix or cover an odour source - ventilate and repair first, always. It is not a substitute for ventilation, particularly in consultation rooms. It does nothing for a store whose pricing, inventory or service are the actual problem. It cannot be judged at six weeks. And it is not for workshops, where extraction belongs instead. Alcohol-free, IFRA-compliant, made in India by perfumer Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. The whole system in one place

The three things the whole system rests on - the spaces, the register, and the honesty about limits.

Why this works
The system in six parts
1 Spaces: count enclosed air volumes, not square feet 2 Register: one, congruent, chosen once, held for a decade 3 Calibration: from outside, from a chair, written down 4 Routine, measurement, and an explicit list of limits
The showroom standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Small-store systems from ₹1,799.
1
The spaces
Count air volumes, size by cubic metres
Every specification error in showroom scenting traces back to one of two counting mistakes. The first is treating the store as a single space: air does not cross a closed door, so a floor unit of any capacity leaves every consultation room, cabin and enclosed billing area unscented - producing the characteristic and inverted result of a composed showroom with flat rooms, when the rooms are where the decisions happen. Count enclosed volumes by walking the store and starting a new entry every time you pass through a door or around a full-height partition. The second mistake is sizing by floor area in a format where ceiling heights range from eight feet to twenty, which means two stores of identical footprint can hold twice the air. Measure length by width by height, zone by zone. From there the equipment follows: a floor unit sized to its volume, a small unit per enclosed room, and particular attention to the three spaces almost every showroom forgets - the billing counter, the stairwell between floors, and the waiting area where the accompanying family sits for hours.
Tip: a composed showroom with flat consultation rooms is exactly the wrong way round - and it is the most common outcome.
2
The register
One choice, held, everywhere
The commercial value of the whole system comes from a single property: recognition, which is produced by repeated identical exposure and by nothing else. That makes the register the asset and everything else the delivery mechanism, which inverts how buyers usually weight the decision. Three rules follow. It must be congruent, chosen against a written brief describing what the store claims to be, because a mismatched register can underperform no register at all - and it should be tested in the actual space with noses arriving from outside, asked about fit rather than preference. It must be identical everywhere: the floor, every room, the billing counter, the stairwell and the packaging, so that a customer moving through the building and later opening a box at home experiences one house rather than several impressions. And it must be held - for a decade, through the point at which everybody inside has adapted and finds it unremarkable, which is when the pressure to change arrives. Documenting the choice with its reasoning is what converts it from a habit somebody feels free to improve into a standing decision that is inherited.
3
The limits
Stated plainly, because they make the rest credible
This system has a boundary and naming it is what makes the claims inside it worth acting on. It does not directly cause purchases: what it influences is whether a family enters rather than passes, stays through hour three rather than deferring, finds a premium coherent rather than arbitrary, and recognises the store at the next occasion - all marginal effects at margins that genuinely exist. It never fixes or covers an odour source: damp, drainage, venting and storage problems are found and repaired at the cause, because scenting over them produces two smells and, in a trust-led category, the one thought a jewellery customer must not have. It is not a substitute for ventilation, which matters most in the enclosed consultation rooms where the largest decisions are made. It does nothing for a store whose pricing, inventory or service are the actual problem, and it should not be bought before those are addressed. It cannot be assessed at six weeks, since two of its four metrics run on the occasion cycle. And it does not belong in workshops, where extraction and containment are the correct interventions and the people working there did not ask for anything to be added to their air.
Tip: the limits are what make the claims inside them worth acting on.
The SOSA principle
The whole system is enclosed spaces counted properly, one congruent register held for a decade, calibration from outside, a small routine, four measured ratios - and an explicit list of what it will not do.
The register is the asset. Everything else is the delivery mechanism.

Honest notes for jewellery retailers: scent marketing's effects on dwell time, perceived quality and recall are real but moderate - fragrance compounds a well-run store and rescues nothing; premises must be clean, cool and well ventilated first, because scent crowns good air and never substitutes for it. No fragrance harms jewellery: quality diffuser fragrance at ambient levels does not tarnish gold, diamonds or gemstones (silver tarnish is driven by sulphur and humidity, not diffuser oils - keep any machine's mist away from direct contact with open displays as basic practice). The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel or jewellery brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

Jewellery retailers understand atmosphere better than almost any other business - you light every display like a stage, you serve chai in good cups, you train your team to make a bride feel like the only customer in the store. And then, in most stores, the air itself is left to chance: the street, the incense stick, the phenyl from the morning mopping. The most emotional purchase your customer will make this year deserves better air than that.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian jewellery stores is the same architecture the global luxury houses use: one signature, sized to the showroom, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. The machines matter (throw, coverage, scheduling), but the strategy matters more, and it is in every guide we publish. If you want it applied to your specific store, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - I read the store descriptions myself.

Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

What is the shortest possible version of this system?
Count the rooms, size the floor by volume, pick one congruent register, set it low from outside, put a small unit in every enclosed space including billing, refill on a date, walk it monthly, and never change the register. That sentence contains the whole system and it is deliberately unexciting, because the value here comes from consistency rather than from cleverness. If you can only act on two elements, make them the room provision - since consultation rooms and the billing counter are where most showrooms leave gaps and where the decisions and the endings happen - and the discipline of holding the register, since that is the only part that compounds. Everything else improves the execution of those two.
What would a typical showroom actually order?
For a standard single-floor showroom with two or three consultation rooms and a billing area: one Vaayu at Rs 11,999 for the floor, a Sukoon at Rs 1,799 or a Boond at Rs 799 for each enclosed room, one more for the billing counter, a Hotel Collection register from Rs 299, and refills from Rs 999 on a schedule built against the store's volume and hours. Larger buildings step the floor unit up to an Aangan or Meenar where ducting exists, and multi-floor stores repeat the floor unit per floor plus a small unit in the stairwell. The exact list follows from a walk-through rather than a floor plan, since the room count and any dead corners are what determine it. Send a plan with ceiling heights and a list of every room with a door: WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
How does the packaging fit into the system?
As the sixth space, effectively - the one that goes home. The same register at a featherweight dose on the inner presentation layer means the association continues past the door, refreshing every time a box is opened across the years between occasions, and for online customers it becomes the entire sensory experience of the store rather than an extension of one. Two rules keep it coherent with the rest: identical register, since a different scent in the box builds an association with nothing, and a trace rather than a scented object, since a strongly scented box sits badly with a valuable piece and reads as a technique. Include the packaging method in the same written specification as the store settings so it is inherited rather than improvised at the packing bench.
What if we already have a system that is not working?
Run the five-point audit before replacing anything, because most underperforming installations have a findable and cheap cause. Check coverage with a proper walk-through at three times of day, since dead corners and strong pockets are the most common issue and the fix is placement or a Rs 799 patch rather than a larger unit. Check dosing, since over-scenting is the second most common and suppresses exactly the dwell the system was installed to protect. Check consistency - refill lapses and staff adjustments. Check congruence, meaning whether the register fits the store. And check premises for any physical source the fragrance is competing with. Only if all five audit clean is the equipment itself worth questioning. Send the walk-through notes and the likely cause is usually identifiable from them.
Who is behind this and why should we trust the limits stated here?
SOSA Home & Body is an Indian house founded by perfumer Sonal Sahani, trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, making alcohol-free, IFRA-compliant fragrance in India. The reason the limits are stated as plainly as the claims is practical rather than modest: ambient scenting has genuine, moderate, well-documented effects, and a supplier who oversells them makes their accurate claims unbelievable too. What this system does is atmospheric and marginal - it works where decisions are close, which in competitive jewellery retail is most of the time, at transaction sizes that make moderate margins material. What it does not do is listed in this article rather than hidden, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 for a coverage plan and a quotation against your actual space.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA commercial range; the scent-marketing strategy advice applies to any jewellery brand's systems.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with longer dwell time, improved store and service evaluations, and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives unclean or poorly ventilated premises. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind luxury signature scents. Quality diffuser fragrance at ambient levels does not damage gold, diamonds or gemstones; silver tarnish is driven by sulphur compounds and humidity. SOSA systems: Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (Rs 1,799) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (Rs 3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from Rs 299; refills 100ml Rs 999); SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (Rs 25,999) and SOSA Meenar (Rs 38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively.
