Two machines, two units of measurement — and a duplex is where that stops being academic
A square-foot coverage rating carries a silent assumption: an ordinary ceiling, around ten feet. It is a floor-area shorthand for a volume, and in a flat the shorthand is accurate enough to be useful, which is why the Sukoon's 270–320 sq ft is a genuinely helpful number in almost every Indian home. A cubic-metre rating makes no such assumption. The Vaayu's 1000 m³ — about 35,000 cubic feet — describes air directly, because a commercial cold-air machine is designed for lobbies and atria where nobody can tell you the ceiling height in advance. The unit on the box tells you what kind of space each machine was built to solve.
A duplex is the first home type that regularly presents a genuine volume problem. An open ground floor of 1,200 sq ft with a living room rising to eighteen feet is roughly 12,000 cubic feet of connected air — about 340 cubic metres — with no internal doors to divide it. Ultrasonic mist can be made to work there, but it takes three or four machines placed low and a certain amount of fussing, because each one is solving a fraction of a volume with a tool calibrated for floor area. The Vaayu solves it as one object. That is a real advantage and I will not pretend otherwise. What it is not is a general upgrade: the moment you walk upstairs into a set of bedrooms behind closed doors, the volume argument evaporates and you are back to rooms, which is Sukoon territory in every home ever built.
The three decisions between the two machines

Running each of them, and running both
A Sukoon runs on three to four drops of water-based fragrance per 500ml tank downstairs and two to three upstairs, placed about a metre off the floor — or at seating height in a double-height room, where anything higher is released into air that is on its way to the stairwell. Two hours on the timer in the late afternoon downstairs, an hour before bed in the bedrooms. It adds a little humidity, which is welcome in a dry or air-conditioned home and less so in a coastal monsoon.
A Vaayu works differently in every respect. It is waterless: there is no tank, no water, no mist and no added humidity, and it nebulises neat fragrance oil into very fine particles that stay suspended long enough to fill a large connected space. It runs on a Bluetooth app with a timer, which is how you set intensity and schedule rather than by counting drops. And it cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection in any dilution — the machine needs neat oil, so the entire seven-scent range that your Sukoons use is unavailable to it.
If you run both, run them on the same schedule and accept the fragrance split as a deliberate choice rather than something to fix. Start the Vaayu downstairs in the late afternoon and the bedroom Sukoons an hour before sleep, so the ground-floor scent has settled into the landing before a second, chemically unrelated fragrance joins it. Keep the bedroom dose low — two drops — because you are layering over something you did not choose. And for a property genuinely too large for either approach, the Aangan at ₹25,999 is a ducted waterless HVAC system covering 8,000–10,000 sq ft, which is a different category of decision altogether and also runs neat oil only.

I have spent most of this cluster telling people not to buy a commercial machine for a home, so it is only fair to say plainly where that advice stops. It stops at a duplex ground floor that is one open volume with the ceiling gone. That shape is what the Vaayu was designed for, and pretending otherwise to keep my argument tidy would not be honest.
But I want the trade named properly, because nobody else seems to name it. A Vaayu is waterless and nebulises neat oil, which is precisely why it holds a space that ultrasonic mist struggles with — and it is also why it cannot run the Hotel Collection. Put one downstairs in a duplex and your ground floor and your bedrooms are on two unrelated fragrance systems, meeting on a staircase that blends them every evening. In a bungalow that hardly matters. In a two-floor house it is the whole atmosphere of the place.
So: measure your ground floor in cubic metres before you decide. If it comes in under about 300 and it has doors in it, buy Sukoons and place them well. If it is one open volume above roughly 2,000 sq ft, the Vaayu is the right machine and the bedrooms stay on Sukoons regardless.
