In a large living room, "strong" is the wrong word — the one you want is "consistent." The scent that feels most powerful across a big space is not the most concentrated oil; it is the one that reaches every corner at the same even level, and holds it.
Quick answer

A large living room is a large volume of air, and air dilutes fragrance.
