Anniversary gifts have a structural problem that birthday gifts do not. There are two people and one object, and almost everything on the shelf is quietly addressed to one of them. The watch is his or hers. The jewellery is hers or his. The book is for whichever of them reads. The couple open it together, one of them says thank you on behalf of both, and within a week it has an owner and the other person is an audience at their own anniversary.
Quick answers — read this first
What is a good anniversary gift for a couple? One that does not need dividing. A gift with two recipients works best when neither of them has to claim it, which rules out most personal objects. A room object is shared by default: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is cordless and waterless, 6.9 cm, and whoever is in the room is the one using it.

Is a perfume a good anniversary gift for a couple? It is a gift to one of them, however it is wrapped. If you want fragrance to be the anniversary present for both, choose the kind that fills a space rather than the kind worn on skin. The alternative is to buy two, which is two gifts rather than one and reads differently.

How much should an anniversary gift cost? ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 covers most anniversaries where you are close to the couple, and the round-number years pull it upward. Below that band, an attar trio set at ₹1,055 or a reed diffuser at ₹749 is an honest answer that does not pretend to be more.
The short answer
Short answer: An anniversary gift has two recipients and one object, so buy the thing that neither of them has to own - a room object is shared by default.
The pick: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - waterless, cordless, 6.9 cm, 10 hours a charge, scent trio included.
Honest note: it scents a space and does not humidify it, and it travels in hand baggage because of the battery.
Gifts for people who travel - at a glanceThey own the luggage. They do not own the room.Safar ₹3,999 - cordless, waterless, 6.9 cm, 10 hrs a chargeCar, handbag, work desk, hotel nightstandScent trio included · auto-off timer
A frequent traveller owns every object a suitcase can hold. What they do not own is a room that smells like theirs. SOSA Safar is a waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion diffuser - 6.9 cm, Type-C, up to 10 hours a charge, with a 1/2/3-hour auto-off timer - for the car, the desk, the cabin bag and the hotel nightstand. Rs 3,999 with a scent trio included.
Straight answer
How do you buy one gift for two people without picking a side?
Ask a blunt question about anything you are considering: in six months, whose is it? If you can answer that, it is not really an anniversary gift. It is a gift to one person that both of them watched being unwrapped.

The objects that survive that question are the ones used by whoever happens to be in the room. Nobody has to claim them, nobody has to share them out, and there is no keeper who ends up responsible for it.

The pick: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. A waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion diffuser - 6.9 cm, Type-C charging, a 20ml bottle, three speeds, a 1, 2 or 3-hour auto-off timer, up to 10 hours continuous or 30 hours intermittent per charge. It is a room object rather than a personal one, so the ownership question never arises. And because a couple who travel together take the same trips, it goes in one bag and serves both of them at the other end. The ₹4,499 version is the same device with the hotel-inspired trio.

The second question: who maintains it? A lot of shared gifts quietly appoint one member of the couple as the person who fills it, cleans it or remembers to charge it. That is not a present, it is a small job with a ribbon on. Waterless means there is nothing to fill and nothing to empty, and a Type-C cable is one the household already has several of.

If they are home people rather than travelling people. The same logic points at a different object. A 130ML reed duo at ₹2,498 is two rooms scented with no device, no charging and nothing to switch on, which for a couple who are mostly in one house is the better shape of gift. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and it is not interchangeable with the oil Safar takes.

Two honest notes. Safar is aroma only, so it scents a room rather than adding moisture to the air, and anyone who wants humidity wants Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead. And the timer is there so that nothing is left running while a room is empty. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: if you can say whose it will be in six months, it is not an anniversary gift - buy the object that belongs to the room instead of to a person.
For someone who travels, the starting point is SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - waterless, cordless, 6.9 cm, up to 10 hours a charge, with a scent trio in the box. It works in the car, on a desk and on a hotel nightstand. If ₹3,999 is more than the occasion needs, a 3ML attar at ₹379 travels just as well.

The problem with a gift that has two recipients

Three failure modes swallow most anniversary gifts, and all three come from the same place: one object, two people.

1
Silent addressing
Most gifts are aimed at one half of a couple
Look at the usual anniversary shelf and count how many items can only be used by one person. Perfume, watches, wallets, clothing, jewellery - all of them arrive addressed, however neutrally they are wrapped. The other half of the couple is left performing gratitude for something that is not theirs. Objects that live in a room instead of on a body avoid this entirely, because the question of who it belongs to simply never comes up. That is the whole reason a scent for a space works here where a scent for skin does not.
Tip: Count how many of the two can actually use it. If the answer is one, keep looking.
2
The keeper problem
A shared gift that needs upkeep appoints somebody
The second way a couples' gift goes wrong is subtler. It works for both of them, but only one of them ever fills it, cleans it, replaces the part or remembers where the cable went. Over a year, that person stops experiencing it as a present. A mist diffuser like Megh at ₹5,999 is a fine object in the right house and a poor anniversary gift in the wrong one for exactly this reason. Waterless and cordless is not only a travel feature; it is what stops a shared object turning into one person's small ongoing chore.
3
Two bags, one trip
A couple who travel together only need one of it
For a couple who take trips together, the shared-object argument gets easier rather than harder. One 6.9 cm device in one bag covers both of them at the other end, which is not true of almost anything else you could buy two travellers. It also sidesteps the duplication trap, where you give a couple something they now own two of. If they travel separately for work more often than they travel together, say so to yourself honestly before buying - that is a different gift, and it is probably two smaller ones.
Tip: One shared object beats two matching ones, unless they genuinely travel apart.
The SOSA principle
Most anniversary gifts have one recipient and one spectator.
The fix is not a more expensive object. It is an object that belongs to the room rather than to a person, so neither of them has to own it and neither of them has to look after it.

Choosing an object neither of them has to own

Start from how the couple actually spend their time, because that decides the shape of the gift before the budget does.

The SOSA gift edit
Anniversary gifts by how the couple live
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
They take trips together SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. One device, one bag, both of them at the other end.
They love a good hotel The same device at ₹4,499 with the hotel-inspired trio. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
They are mostly at home A 130ML reed duo at ₹2,498, or a single 130ML reed at ₹1,299. Nothing to switch on, nothing to charge.
A smaller anniversary, or a couple you know less well An attar trio set at ₹1,055 in 3ML, or a 50ML reed at ₹749.

If the couple in question are travellers first and you want the argument built around that rather than around the ownership question, Anniversary, travel-loving approaches it from the other side. If you are still deciding whether the occasion suits a device at all, Which occasions fit sorts that out first. The Safar page has the specification and the reed diffusers cover the home end.

Not sure what will land right?
Send us how they travel - road or air, hotels or one new home - what they already own, and your budget. If a product is the wrong shape for the gift, we will say so.

The SOSA gift edit

Every SOSA gift is alcohol-free, long-lasting and ready to hand over, handmade in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by format, which is what decides how a gift reads.

The SOSA gift edit for a friend
Five answers by how the person actually travels - from a ₹379 attar to the ₹3,999 Safar
Gift Best for What it says, and what it costs From
SOSA Safar Anyone who travels · the default Waterless, cordless, rechargeable. 6.9 cm, 10 hrs a charge, auto-off timer. Car, bag, desk, hotel room. Scent trio included ₹3,999
SOSA Safar · hotel-inspired trio Someone who loves good hotels The same device with the hotel-inspired scent trio instead of the SOSA trio ₹4,499
Attar roll-on 3ML A smaller travel gift Alcohol-free oil, 3ML, goes anywhere - the compact gift when ₹3,999 is too much ₹379
Solid perfume tin 15g Someone who packs light Solid balm in a metal tin - cannot spill, not a liquid, survives a shared shelf ₹500
Reed diffuser 50ML Someone who is finally home For the person who has stopped travelling, or the flat they come back to ₹749

Four honest notes. SOSA Safar is aroma only - it scents a space and does not humidify it, so if someone wants moisture in dry air they want Boond or Sukoon instead. It has a built-in rechargeable battery, so it travels in hand baggage rather than checked luggage, and airline policies on devices with batteries vary - worth a check before a long trip. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil; the Hotel Collection is a separate water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers, and the two are not interchangeable. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest person to buy for is not someone with expensive taste. It is someone who travels constantly, because they have already solved every problem a gift usually solves. They own the luggage, the organisers, the adaptors, the neck pillow and the noise-cancelling headphones, and they bought better versions than you were going to.

What they do not own is the room. Somebody who spends a hundred nights a year in hotels spends those nights in rooms that smell of someone else's cleaning product - pleasant enough, anonymous, and never theirs. That is the one gap a suitcase cannot fill, and it is the reason we made Safar the way we did: waterless because water spills in a bag, cordless because hotel sockets are never where you need them, and small enough at 6.9 cm to stop being a decision about packing space.

Two things I will say plainly. It is aroma only - it scents a room, it does not add moisture to the air, and anyone who wants a humidifier should buy a humidifier. And it has an auto-off timer for a reason: a hotel room is borrowed space, and nothing should be left running in it while nobody is there. Use the timer, keep it on the low setting, and the room smells like theirs for the evening and like the hotel's again by checkout. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

Is SOSA Safar a good anniversary gift?
It is, because it belongs to a room rather than to a person. An anniversary gift has two recipients and one object, and most things on the shelf are quietly addressed to one half of the couple. Safar at ₹3,999 is used by whoever is in the room, needs no filling and no cleaning, and travels in one bag for two people.
What is a better anniversary gift, perfume or a room fragrance?
A room fragrance, if the gift is meant for both of them. A personal perfume is a present to one person that the other one watches being opened. Buying two perfumes is a reasonable alternative, but it is two gifts rather than one, and it reads differently on the day.
How much should you spend on an anniversary gift?
₹2,500 to ₹5,000 is the ordinary band for a couple you are close to, and round-number anniversaries tend to pull it up. Below that, an attar trio set at ₹1,055 or a 50ML reed diffuser at ₹749 is honest rather than apologetic. Spending far above the band starts to ask the couple for something back.
What if the couple do not travel much?
Then buy for the house instead, and the answer changes product. A 130ML reed duo at ₹2,498 scents two rooms with nothing to charge and nothing to switch on. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, which is not the same oil a cold-diffusion device takes, so the two are not interchangeable.
Does the diffuser need looking after?
Very little, which is the point for a shared gift. It is waterless, so there is nothing to fill or empty, and it charges over Type-C. It has three speeds and a 1, 2 or 3-hour auto-off timer, and it should never be left running in an empty room. It is aroma only and does not add moisture to the air.
