It depends on which kind of system you have, and most owners do not know. One kind helps you and the other works against you continuously.
Quick answers — read this first
Does strong air conditioning change scenting? It depends on the system. A recirculating system moves scented air around the space and helps distribution; a system with a fresh-air intake continuously dilutes the fragrance and works against retention.
How do I find out which I have? Ask whoever services the system whether there is a fresh-air intake and at what rate, or look for an outside-air duct at the unit. Split units generally recirculate; ducted commercial systems often do not.
What changes in each case? Recirculating: nothing, and distribution is easier. Fresh-air: place the unit away from the return, expect lower retention, and size for the volume rather than raising output. A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, from ₹299.
The short answer
Short answer: Depends on the system. Recirculating helps distribution; a fresh-air intake dilutes continuously. Find out which you have.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for one enclosed volume up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected space, the Aangan at ₹25,999 for a large hall, on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299. Open and semi-open areas are specified as nothing.

Commercial scenting goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody buys a machine to cover a smell that has a source, puts it where the socket is, runs it at full intensity because day one felt weak, and ends up with a room people comment on for the wrong reason. Source first, air volume second, unscented zones written down third, low intensity and a schedule fourth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA machine range at each size.
Should scenting output change when a business runs strong air conditioning?
Not by default, and what actually matters is a question most owners have never asked about their own system. A recirculating system takes room air, cools it and returns it to the same space. Split units, cassettes and most single-room systems work this way, and they are helpful for scenting: they move air around the volume, which distributes fragrance more evenly than still air, and they remove nothing. In these premises, strong air conditioning is an advantage and no adjustment is needed.A system with a fresh-air intake continuously introduces outside air and exhausts room air, which is common in larger ducted commercial installations and is exactly what you want for ventilation. For scenting it works against you all day: the fragrance is being diluted continuously, and no setting changes that because the air is genuinely leaving. The practical response is not to raise the output - that just increases consumption into air that is exhausting - but to size correctly for the volume, place the unit well away from the return grille, and accept a lower retention than an equivalent sealed room. Two practical points.A unit placed beside a return grille delivers most of its output into the ductwork, which produces a weak room and faint fragrance in unexpected places; this is the commonest placement fault in air-conditioned premises. And do not reduce fresh-air intake to improve fragrance retention - that trade is always wrong, because the intake exists for air quality and occupant comfort, and fragrance is never a substitute for ventilation. How to find out which you have: ask whoever services the system, or look for an outside-air duct entering the unit. Specification: a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per enclosed volume on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299. Fragrance is an ambience decision and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: find out if your AC brings in outside air. That answer decides everything else.

Recirculating or fresh-air
This is the question that separates two premises that look identical and behave completely differently.
Why this works
Finding out and acting on it
The machine sized for one connected volume rather than for a floor plan: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, under 38 dB, app and timer control, key-locked. Fragrance from ₹299.
A system that cools and returns the same air is effectively stirring the room, which spreads fragrance more evenly than still air does and lets a lower setting produce a more consistent result. Businesses with split units and cassettes usually find scenting behaves predictably, and the only adjustment needed is the seasonal volatility one covered elsewhere.
Tip: A split unit is a distribution system you already own.
02
Fresh-air intake dilutes
And no setting fixes it
Where outside air is continuously introduced and room air exhausted, the fragrance is being removed as fast as it is added, in proportion to the intake rate. Raising the output raises consumption without raising the perceived level, so the correct response is accurate sizing and accepting lower retention - not escalation, and never reducing the intake.
03
The return grille
The commonest placement fault
A unit sitting near a return grille is delivering fragrance into the duct rather than into the room, which produces a weak space and unexplained faint scent somewhere else on the system. It is genuinely hard to diagnose after the fact and trivial to avoid at placement: mark the returns and keep units well clear of them.
Tip: A unit by the return is scenting the duct, not the room.
The SOSA principle
Two identical showrooms, one with a fresh-air intake, behave completely differently, and neither owner knows which they have.
One phone call to the service contractor settles it.

What to do in each case
In either case the register should be chosen for the season rather than the system, since heat affects perception far more than air handling does.

Never trade your fresh-air intake for fragrance retention. That is the one swap we will always argue against.

The SOSA commercial range
Whatever the space, the method is the same: find the source of any smell and fix it, draw the air volume rather than the floor plan, write down which zones stay unscented, then set a low intensity and a schedule. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the size of space it is honestly built for.

Honest notes on conditions: fragrance is an ambience decision only and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning, filtration or source control. Where dust, damp, drainage or ventilation faults are present, those should be corrected first and fragrance considered afterwards; increasing output to compensate is not recommended. Fragrance introduced into a semi-open or outdoor volume is carried away by air that does not stay in the space, so it is spent rather than used. This is a physical limit and not a machine limit: no output setting makes an open courtyard hold a scent. Sizing is by connected air volume including ceiling height, so rooms that do not share air require separate treatment or none. SOSA makes no claim that ambient scenting increases bookings, enquiries, conversion, retention, referrals, transaction value or guest spend, and no such claim should be made on the strength of this guide. Where memory or association language is used it is descriptive of ordinary experience - people come to associate a place with how it felt - and is not a commercial performance claim, nor a claim about mood, sleep, stress, calm or any other therapeutic effect. Ultrasonic diffusers and the machines run on the Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. A note from Sonal
Nearly every call that starts with the machine being too weak ends somewhere else. In Jaipur it is usually one of three things: a filter nobody has cleaned since installation, a door that opens more often than anyone counted, or a room that shares air with a space nobody included in the sizing. The machine is generally doing what it was asked to do; the room was described optimistically.
Dust deserves its own paragraph because the instinct is exactly backwards. Adding fragrance to a dusty room does not make it smell clean. It makes it smell of dust and fragrance, which is worse, and it burns oil at a rate nobody enjoys. Filtration, door seals, mats and a cleaning rota first. Then the air is worth doing something with.
And the thick walls and courtyards that make Jaipur beautiful also make it awkward. Rooms that do not share air need their own machines or none at all. Fragrance is an ambience decision, never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. If something is not working, WhatsApp me on +91 96192 18531 before you spend anything.
