What we answer
"Sample villa still smelling of paint, adhesive and new joinery."
Ventilate and wait. Fragrance over curing solvent is a cover-up and smells like one
Source first
What we specify
"Sales gallery with a nine-metre ceiling."
Size for the volume; a room-scale machine in that hall is simply undersized
Ceiling height
What we specify
"Developer wanting the whole sample villa scented."
The four rooms buyers stay in. The rest is corridor and gets nothing
Dwell
What we specify
"Private negotiation room off the main lounge."
Lower than the lounge, because that is where people sit for an hour
Negotiation
What we answer
"Cost questioned against the value of one villa sale."
That comparison justifies anything. It belongs in the project upkeep line
No claims
What we specify
"Three projects, three sales centres, one brand."
One register documented as a standard, sized separately per room

Founder Diaries · SOSA Commercial Scenting Guides
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 7 min read Updated September 2026
Yes, markedly, and in many galleries the right answer is nothing at all. A small closed room holding a long consequential conversation is the hardest case on the site.
Quick answers — read this first
Should the negotiation room be more subtle? Yes, considerably, and often it should be unscented. It is a small volume, the meeting runs long, the door is closed, and buyers are concentrating on a large financial decision.

Why does small volume matter so much? Concentration is output divided by volume, so the setting that suits a large presentation lounge produces a much higher level in a small room.

What about the buyers themselves? They are making a significant decision under some pressure, and anything that reads as environmental persuasion is a poor idea. Reeds from ₹749 or nothing is the usual specification.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, markedly, and often nothing. Small volume, long meeting, closed door, and a decision under pressure.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a sales lounge or sample-villa living volume up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, the Aangan at ₹25,999 for a large high-ceiling gallery, SOSA reed diffusers from ₹749 for negotiation rooms and bedrooms, on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299.
Sizing? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with sales gallery volume and ceiling height, sample villa layout, and which four areas buyers actually spend time in - remote sizing from your own measurements, no site visit needed outside Pune.
How SOSA sizes a commercial space - the order that actually worksStep 1 - find the source: solvents, sanitiser, footwear, drains, AC filters, stale airStep 2 - draw the air volume, not the floor plan: doors and partitions divide itStep 3 - decide which zones stay unscented, and write that downStep 4 - set intensity low and schedule it around your peakStep 5 - re-check after two weeks, then leave it alone
Commercial scenting goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody buys a machine to cover a smell that has a source, puts it where the socket is, runs it at full intensity because day one felt weak, and ends up with a room people comment on for the wrong reason. Source first, air volume second, unscented zones written down third, low intensity and a schedule fourth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA machine range at each size.
Straight answer
Should a developer's private negotiation room be scented more subtly?
Yes, by a wide margin, and in many galleries the honest specification is nothing. Four things make this the hardest room on the site. Volume: a negotiation room is a fraction of the presentation lounge, and concentration is output divided by volume, so a setting that reads as a faint background out there produces something much stronger in here. Copying the lounge setting is the standard error. Dwell: a negotiation runs an hour or more, and everyone adapts within about fifteen minutes while delivery continues, so exposure keeps climbing after perception stops. The closed door: these rooms are shut for confidentiality, so there is minimal air exchange and whatever is in the room stays there for the duration. And the situation: a family is making one of the largest financial decisions of their lives, under some pressure, in a room chosen by the seller. Anything in that room that could be read as environmental persuasion is a poor idea, and we would rather a developer avoided it entirely than ran a level a buyer might later feel was working on them. SOSA makes no claim that scenting affects decisions, and would not want a developer implying otherwise by specification. What we recommend: nothing, or reeds from ₹749 with fewer sticks than the pack suggests, in the same register as the rest of the gallery so the room does not read as a different place. Ventilation matters far more here - a small closed room with four people in it for ninety minutes in a Jaipur summer needs air movement, and that is the actual comfort problem. Specification: reeds from ₹749, or a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 on its lowest setting only if the room is genuinely large, on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299. Fragrance is an ambience decision and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: small, closed, long, and consequential. Reeds or nothing.
Usually the right specification here: reeds from ₹749 with fewer sticks, or nothing at all. Fragrance from ₹299.

The hardest room in the building

This is the one room in a sales gallery where our honest advice is frequently to buy nothing.

Why this works
Specifying the negotiation room
1 Never copy the presentation lounge setting into a small room 2 Check ventilation first - four people, ninety minutes, closed door 3 Specify reeds with fewer sticks, or nothing at all 4 Keep the register identical to the gallery so the room is not a different place
The machine most Jaipur sales galleries use for the main presentation volume: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, under 38 dB, app and timer control, key-locked. Fragrance from ₹299.
01
The situation argues for restraint
A large decision, under pressure
A buyer signing for a villa is under real pressure in a room controlled by the seller, and a conspicuous ambient fragrance in that setting is the kind of detail somebody remembers unfavourably afterwards. We would rather a developer specified nothing than have a buyer wonder what the room was doing, and SOSA makes no claim that scenting affects decisions in any case.
Tip: Nobody should wonder what the room was doing while they signed.
02
Small rooms concentrate
The lounge setting is wrong here
Copying the presentation lounge setting into a room a fraction of its size produces a much higher concentration, and because the sales team adapted hours ago, nobody internally can detect it. The feedback, if it arrives at all, is a buyer stepping outside during a meeting - which is not information anybody connects back to a diffuser.
03
Ventilation is the real issue
Four people, ninety minutes, closed
A small sealed room with several people in it for an hour and a half in a Jaipur summer becomes uncomfortable through heat and stale air long before fragrance is relevant. Fix the air movement and the cooling, and the room will be pleasant with no fragrance at all - which is frequently the whole solution and costs nothing from us.
Tip: Fix the air, and the room is fine with nothing in it.
The SOSA principle
Buy nothing for this room and spend it on the air conditioning instead.
That is the honest specification most of the time.
SOSA Hotel Collection diffuser fragrance
What the machine runs on Hotel Collection diffuser fragrance from ₹299 Seven scents in 15ml, 100ml and 300ml. SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. See full specs →Size it on WhatsApp

When the answer is nothing

If reeds are used, keep them in the gallery's register and out of sight, so the room reads as part of the same building rather than as somewhere that has been prepared.

The SOSA commercial range

Whatever the space, the method is the same: find the source of any smell and fix it, draw the air volume rather than the floor plan, write down which zones stay unscented, then set a low intensity and a schedule. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the size of space it is honestly built for.

The SOSA commercial range
Sized by air volume, not by ambition - from a ₹749 reed diffuser to the ₹38,500 Meenar
Option Right for What it actually is Price
Reed diffusers One small room, no power point, no maintenance Alcohol-free reed oil, passive, silent. Good for a single cabin or a small front desk, not for a hall from ₹749
Boond / Sukoon ultrasonic A desk, a single cabin, a small reception Water-based cool mist; runs on Hotel Collection fragrance, adds a little humidity to the room ₹899 / ₹1,899
Megh ultrasonic (6L) A larger waiting area where visible mist is wanted 6L tank, water-based. Still a room machine rather than a floor machine ₹3,499
SOSA Vaayu Reception, lounge, corridor, a contained showroom floor Waterless cold-air, up to 1000m³ (about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank, app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38 dB, key-lock for public areas ₹11,999
SOSA Aangan Large premises, or scenting carried on the building's own HVAC HVAC-mount nebulising machine, 800ml, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, under 42 dB ₹25,999
SOSA Meenar Hotels, large showrooms, venues, corporate floors The largest machine in the range, specified for roughly 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft ₹38,500
Hotel Collection fragrance The fragrance the machines actually run on Seven scents, 15ml / 100ml / 300ml. SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand from ₹299
Honest notes for developers: fragrance is an ambience decision only and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. Newly completed sample homes off-gas paint, adhesive, sealant and joinery odour for a period after handover, and the correct response is ventilation and time rather than added fragrance. Sizing is by air volume including ceiling height, not floor area, and rooms where visitors sit for extended periods should be set lower than circulation areas. Visitors include children and fragrance-sensitive people, so restrained registers are recommended. SOSA makes no claim that ambient scenting increases bookings, enquiries, conversion, retention, referrals, transaction value or guest spend, and no such claim should be made on the strength of this guide. Where memory or association language is used it is descriptive of ordinary experience - people come to associate a place with how it felt - and is not a commercial performance claim, nor a claim about mood, sleep, stress, calm or any other therapeutic effect. Ultrasonic diffusers and the machines run on the Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. SOSA's fragrances are made in India; the scent machines are imported. Listed prices are store prices and are subject to change. A note from Sonal

Sales galleries are the easiest place in this whole cluster to spend money badly, because the instinct is to scent the floor plan. Buyers do not experience a floor plan. They stand at the model, sit through a presentation, walk a sample villa and then sit down to talk numbers - four places, usually, and everything between them is transit. Scent those four properly and leave the corridors alone.

The sample villa has a specific problem worth naming. A newly finished house smells of paint, adhesives, sealants and fresh joinery for weeks, and every one of those is a source you remove with time and ventilation rather than cover with fragrance. A buyer walking into solvent under vanilla notices exactly that, and it is the worst possible first impression for a crore-plus purchase.

The limits. Fragrance is an ambience decision, never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control, and SOSA makes no claim that scenting affects enquiries, site visits or sales. If you want a gallery and a sample villa sized properly, WhatsApp me on +91 96192 18531. A part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
