Founder Diaries · Reed Diffuser & Home Fragrance Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles10 min readUpdated September 2026
Most people buying a reed diffuser for somebody in Bengaluru have never been inside the flat it is going to, because the person who lives there moved for work and the housewarming happened on a video call. That is the real constraint, and it is a layout problem rather than a taste problem: a large open-plan living and dining room and a closed two-bedroom flat need different bottles, and the city has a great deal of both. SOSA is a fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India, so what follows is about the homes, not about a counter anywhere.
The answer when you have never been inside the flat. SOSA Warmth & Bloom, ₹1,598 for two 50ml reeds - Fresh Brew coffee and vanilla with Garden Bloom rose and jasmine, each running about 6 to 10 weeks with nothing to plug in. It leads this page because so much Bengaluru gifting goes to a home the buyer has only seen on a screen, and two 50ml bottles cover two rooms in either layout.
Quick answers — read this first
What size reed diffuser should I send to a flat in Bengaluru? It depends on the layout rather than the address. Much of the newer apartment supply sits in large gated developments with open-plan living and dining rooms, which is a 130ml room at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349. Older flats in the central and southern parts of the city are more often closed rooms, where the 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 is right.
I have never seen their flat. What do I send? Ask one question - is the living room open to the dining area? - and if you cannot ask, send a duo gift set from ₹1,498. Two 50ml bottles cover two rooms whatever the layout turns out to be, which is safer than guessing at one large bottle.
Does the Bengaluru weather make a difference? To how a room holds a scent at any given moment, yes. Windows in the city stay open a great deal of the year, and a room with air moving through it carries a scent more lightly than a closed one. The published duration is about 6 to 10 weeks either way; what changes is the size you should choose for an airy open-plan room.
The short answer
Short answer: Choose by the flat rather than the city. Newer gated-community apartments usually have open-plan living and dining rooms, which take the 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349. Older closed-room flats in central and south Bengaluru take the 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849. If you have not seen the home, a duo set at Rs 1,498 covers two rooms.
The pick: A duo gift set from ₹1,498 when you have never been inside the flat, or a 130ml from ₹1,249 when you know the living and dining area is one open room.
Why: The single biggest error in this category is sending one large bottle into a closed-room flat, and a duo of two 50ml bottles removes that risk without spending more on the wrong size.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
What reed diffuser should you send as a gift to someone living in Bengaluru?
Choose by the flat. A great deal of the newer apartment supply in and around the city sits in large gated developments where the living and dining space is a single open room, sometimes running through to a balcony, and that is a 130ml room - Morning Freshness at ₹1,249 through to Fresh Brew at ₹1,349. Older flats in the central and southern parts of Bengaluru are far more often built as separate closed rooms with doors, and there a 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 is the correct size, not the economical one; a 130ml in a closed bedroom gets moved into a corridor inside a week. The climate is a genuine variable too: windows here stay open for much of the year, and a room with air moving through it holds a scent more lightly at any given moment than a shut room does, which argues for the larger bottle in an open-plan flat and changes nothing about the published duration of about 6 to 10 weeks. If you have never stood in the home - and for a friend or a relative who moved to the city for work, you usually have not - a duo gift set from ₹1,498 is two 50ml bottles and covers two rooms rather than betting on one. Do not send anything scented at all if they already run a diffuser they chose. SOSA is based in Pune and sends orders across India; a gift is simply sent to Bengaluru. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The address tells you almost nothing. Open-plan or closed rooms tells you everything, and it is one question long.
The rule for this city: open-plan living and dining means 130ml from ₹1,249; closed rooms mean 50ml from ₹749; and if you have never seen the flat, a duo set from ₹1,498.
Three things about Bengaluru homes that change which bottle you send
Three things about housing in this city actually change the order you place, and none of them is the sort of thing a general gifting guide would mention. Work through them and the size decides itself.
1
The first variable
Two very different kinds of flat, in the same city
Much of the apartment supply built over the last couple of decades on the eastern and southern edges of Bengaluru - the Whitefield and Sarjapur Road corridors, and the belt running north towards the airport road - sits inside large gated developments, and those flats are overwhelmingly designed around a single open living and dining room, often with the kitchen opening off it and a balcony beyond. Air moves across the whole of that space. It is one room in practice, and it is a 130ml room at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349.
The older housing in the central and southern parts of the city is a different building type. Flats there are more often laid out as separate closed rooms with doors between them, and a bedroom, a study or a hall in that kind of home is a 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849. Sending the large bottle into one of those is the commonest mistake in this category, and it does not read as generosity. It reads as too much, and the bottle ends up in a corridor.
Tip: Ask one question before you order: is the living room open to the dining area?
2
The second variable
Windows open most of the year
Bengaluru's climate is mild enough that a lot of homes here simply live with the windows open, which is not true of most Indian cities for most of the year. That matters in one narrow, honest way: a room with air passing through it carries a scent more lightly at any given moment than a sealed room with the air conditioning on.
It does not change what SOSA publishes, which is about 6 to 10 weeks for both sizes. What it changes is where you place the size decision. In an airy open-plan flat with a balcony door that is open all afternoon, the 130ml is the honest choice rather than an indulgent one. In a closed bedroom with the door shut, the 50ml is already plenty - and in a room like that the reeds tend to be noticed on the way past rather than across the whole space, which is exactly what a 50ml is for.
3
The third variable
You are probably buying for a flat you have never entered
This is the pattern that makes Bengaluru gifting different from gifting to somebody in your own neighbourhood. A great deal of this buying is parents, siblings and friends sending something to a person who moved here for work and whose home they have seen only on a phone screen. You know the person and you do not know the room, which is the reverse of the usual gifting problem.
There are two clean answers. One question to the recipient or to somebody who has visited - is the living room open to the dining area? - settles the size in a sentence. If you cannot ask without ruining the surprise, buy sideways rather than upwards: a duo gift set from ₹1,498 is two 50ml bottles, which works in an open-plan flat and a closed 2BHK alike because two rooms get one each. Warmth & Bloom is ₹1,598, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548 and Day & Night ₹1,498, and the 130ml x 2 versions at ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 are for a large home you actually know.
Tip: Never seen the flat? Two 50ml bottles beat one guessed 130ml every time.
The size decision, before the scent decision
50ml or 130ml is a room question, not a budget question
The 50ml from ₹749 suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or anybody receiving their first diffuser. The 130ml from ₹1,249 suits an open-plan living and dining area or a large 3BHK living room, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom - a bigger bottle in the wrong room gets moved into a corridor. All five scents run about 6 to 10 weeks either way.
How to send a reed diffuser to a Bengaluru flat without guessing
Find out one thing: open-plan living and dining, or closed rooms with doors.
Open-plan takes the 130ml from Rs 1,249; closed rooms take the 50ml from Rs 749.
Cannot ask? Send a duo set from Rs 1,498 so two rooms are covered.
Skip it entirely if they already run a diffuser they picked themselves.
The SOSA principle
A city page is only useful if it tells you something about the rooms. In Bengaluru the thing worth knowing is that the newer flats are usually one open living and dining space and the older ones usually are not, and that single fact picks the bottle.
Everything else about a gift is the same here as anywhere. The layout is the part that is genuinely local.
Which scent and which size, given how these flats are built
Scent choice is not a local question, but it interacts with the layout one, so it is worth taking in that order. Morning Freshness at ₹749 for 50ml and ₹1,249 for 130ml is Malabar lemon and mint, the least declarative of the five and the safest thing to send into a home you have never stood in - which describes most of this buying. Garden Bloom at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is British rose and night-blooming jasmine, the one that reads most clearly as a gift. Evening Calm at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is lavender and chamomile, which is the name on the bottle and a description of the two ingredients rather than a claim about anything. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 and ₹1,349 is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, dry and green, and it suits a flat with a lot of wood and a lot of open window. Fresh Brew at ₹849 and ₹1,349 is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, the strongest opinion in the range and the one to send only where you know the taste.
The SOSA gift edit
Matching the bottle to the flat
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
Open-plan living and dining · 130ml, ₹1,249 to ₹1,349
The layout of most newer gated-development flats on the eastern and southern corridors: one continuous living and dining space, kitchen often opening off it, balcony beyond, air moving through all of it. The 130ml is the size that suits a room of that shape. The 50ml is not wrong here, it is simply quiet.
Closed rooms with doors · 50ml, ₹749 to ₹849
Common in the older housing in central and south Bengaluru, and in compact 2BHKs anywhere in the city. Separate hall, separate bedrooms, doors in between. A 50ml per room is correct, and a 130ml in a closed bedroom is the mistake people make when they are trying to be generous.
A flat you have never seen · duo sets, ₹1,498 to ₹1,598
Two 50ml bottles in one box: Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598. It works in either layout because two rooms get one bottle each, and it is boxed, which suits a housewarming you are not attending in person.
A large home you do know · 130ml pairs, ₹2,498 to ₹2,598
The same three duos in the bigger bottles, for a genuinely large flat or a duplex where two open spaces both need covering. Only buy this when you have stood in the home. Sent blind, it is a lot of bottle for a room that may not be able to take it.
When it has to look like an occasion
A duo set is the readymade gift box, without anybody assembling a hamper
Two 50ml reeds in one box: Day & Night pairs Morning Freshness lemon-mint with Evening Calm lavender-chamomile at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded pairs lemon-mint with Mountain Breeze pine and cedar at ₹1,548, and Warmth & Bloom pairs Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla with Garden Bloom rose-jasmine at ₹1,598. The 130ml x 2 versions are ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598.
Two closing details that save a gift from going wrong. Four of the five scents publish refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, so somebody who settles into one can keep it running; Evening Calm publishes no refill, which is the one thing to know before choosing it over Garden Bloom at the same price. And on the practical side: SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India, so a gift is sent to a Bengaluru address in the ordinary way. SOSA keeps no shop, showroom or warehouse anywhere outside Pune, and no timing is published, so nothing on this page promises a date - if a gift has to land on a particular day, plan around that yourself rather than around anything stated here.
Morning Freshness and Evening Calm in one box, two 50ml bottles. The readymade housewarming and client gift, without a hamper in sight.
₹1,498 · 50ml x 2
When the gift is meant to be the big one
SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for the car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the whole home
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. Vaayu is the machine version of the same idea for a building: waterless cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Both run waterless nebuliser oil - 100 gm ₹1,049, 300 gm ₹1,849 - and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so a Vaayu suits a large open home or a business and is the wrong gift for a two-bedroom flat with every door closed. It adds a scent to a space; it does not remove one.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
You cannot choose a diffuser for a city. You can choose one for a room, and in Bengaluru the room is usually either one open space or four closed ones.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA gifting range
Pick the size by the room, then the scent by how little you know about them
Approx 1000 m3 of connected air with a Bluetooth app and timer - a large open home or a business, not a flat
₹11,999
Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 - run the water-basedHotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What SOSA publishes, and what SOSA does not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a gifting page should state.
Attars - Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179 and Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199 in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The Attar Trio is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 or ₹3,189.
Car fragrance - nine scents from ₹449 to ₹549, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price, with 50ml sprays at ₹1,499 and saver combos at ₹899 to ₹949. Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.
Candles and wax melts - Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks at ₹399 for approximately 15 to 18 hours, or ₹699 for a two-candle duo at approximately 30 to 36 hours. Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla ₹999. Bubble Candles ₹499 unscented and ₹599 scented. Wax melts from ₹499, which need a ceramic burner at ₹599 - so they are only a complete gift for somebody who already owns one.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long any fragrance will be liked, delivery or dispatch timing, any festive discount, any minimum order quantity or bulk rate, and any claim about what a person will feel on receiving a gift. Those questions go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure which size or which scent? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: who it is for and how well you know them, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented, and what you want to spend. You will get one straight recommendation rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml, or a single bottle rather than the duo set. Corporate and client gifting: bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities, terms and anything corporate are discussed on WhatsApp rather than priced on a page. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India. There is no SOSA shop, stockist or counter in any other city, so anything you read here about Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysuru or anywhere else is about the homes in those cities and not about a local branch.

A note from Sonal
The reed diffuser is the product people are least embarrassed to give and most surprised by afterwards. What they expect is a decorative object. What it actually is, is a small piece of a household that runs for six to ten weeks and then ends, which is a very different thing from an ornament somebody has to keep forever out of politeness.
The reason I recommend it so often for gifting is unromantic: you are buying for a room rather than for a person. Personal fragrance is a taste decision, and when you cannot finish the sentence she usually wears something with..., no amount of money makes the guess better. A room does not have a signature scent it is loyal to. That is why a reed diffuser works for a colleague, a client, a mother-in-law and a friend's new flat - relationships where you may like somebody very much and still have no idea what is on their dressing table.
The one thing I would press on is size, because it is where good intentions go wrong. The 130ml is not the better gift, it is the bigger room's gift. Put it in a small closed bedroom and the person will move it to a corridor within a week. A 50ml at ₹749 in the right room beats a 130ml at ₹1,249 in the wrong one every single time, and if you want to spend more, spend it on the duo set so they get two rooms rather than one very loud one.
Frequently asked questions
What size reed diffuser suits a Bengaluru apartment?
It depends on the layout. Newer flats in large gated developments usually have an open living and dining room, and that suits the 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349. Older flats in the central and southern parts of the city are more often closed rooms, where a 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 per room is the right size.
Does SOSA have a shop or showroom in Bengaluru?
No. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, and sends orders across India. There is no SOSA shop, showroom, counter or warehouse in Bengaluru or in any other city, so a gift is ordered online and sent to the address you give.
I have never seen their flat. What is the safest thing to send?
A duo gift set of two 50ml bottles at Rs 1,498 to Rs 1,598. It suits both layouts, because two separate rooms each get a bottle rather than one large bottle going into a room that may be small. If you can ask one question first, ask whether the living room is open to the dining area.
Does an open window change how long a reed diffuser lasts?
SOSA publishes about 6 to 10 weeks and that is the figure to go by. What an airy room changes is how strongly the scent reads at any moment, since air is moving through the space rather than sitting in it. In practice that is an argument for the 130ml in an open-plan flat, not for expecting a different lifespan.
Can SOSA help me choose for a home I have not visited?
Yes. Message SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with whatever you do know: how many bedrooms, whether the living and dining area is one room, and what you want to spend. You will get one recommendation, including the times the honest answer is two 50ml bottles rather than one 130ml.
