Yes - one register everywhere, diffusion adapted per branch, and the second half of that sentence is where the real work is. The trap that catches every growing chain is writing the standard as a number: setting four, two units, ten hours. Identical numeric settings in different buildings produce different results, because volume, ceiling height and above all air change rate are different at every address, so a number that reads perfectly in Pune reads as nothing in Delhi and as too much in Bengaluru. The standard has to be a PERCEIVED LEVEL, with each branch recording whatever configuration achieved it.
Quick answers — read this first
Can one signature scent work across gym branches of different sizes and ventilation? Yes, and it should - one register is what makes a chain feel like one brand rather than four clubs that happen to share a logo. What cannot be standardised is the machine settings, because identical numbers in different buildings produce different results. A branch's outcome is set by its connected air volume, its ceiling height and above all its air change rate, and those differ at every address; a gym is ventilated far harder than an office by design, so a well-ventilated branch replaces scented air faster and is genuinely a more demanding scenting job than a sealed room of the same floor area. That is an honest trade-off and the answer to it is a system sized to the real air exchange, or a lighter result you accept. Never less fresh air. So the group standard is written as a PERCEIVED LEVEL - what the arrival should feel like to someone walking in from the street - and each branch records the number of units, the placement and the intensity setting that achieved it.
How do I write a fragrance standard that survives four different buildings? In three layers. Layer one is fixed for the whole group and never varies: the register, the zone map, the direction of travel, and the rule that the training floor is the lowest-dosed room in the building with cardio lowest of all. Layer two is the perceived-level target, described in words rather than numbers: a member walking in from the street registers the air as pleasant and cannot name it; a member on the floor should not be aware of it. Layer three is the branch record card, which is different at every address and holds the machine count, their positions, the intensity setting, the schedule and the date it was last calibrated. When a branch changes anything in layer three it writes it down. Layer one and layer two are group policy; layer three is local engineering. Send your four floor plans, ceiling heights and opening hours to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 and it can be worked through building by building.
Does climate change how each branch should be set up? It changes the pressure points, not the register, and only within what can honestly be said. Mumbai is coastal and humid with a heavy monsoon, so drying is the pressure point: towel turnaround, extraction and shower-area drying time do more for the smell of that club than any machine, and a waterless system is the honest format there because an ultrasonic adds a fine water mist to air that is already saturated. Bengaluru is mild and temperate, so natural ventilation does more of the work and a branch that runs with openings open replaces scented air faster. Delhi is dry with a big seasonal swing, which means a level set in December genuinely reads differently in June and the branch should expect to recalibrate with the season, and it also changes WHEN you choose to ventilate. Pune is milder and drier than Mumbai. To be completely clear: no SOSA product cleans, filters or purifies air, and none of them does anything about pollution. Fragrance adds scent to air, and that is all it does.
The short answer
Short answer: One register across all branches, adapted diffusion at each. Identical numeric settings in different buildings produce different results because connected volume, ceiling height and air change rate differ, so the group standard must be a PERCEIVED LEVEL - what the arrival feels like to someone walking in cold from the street - with each branch recording the unit count, placement, intensity and schedule that achieved it. Fixed everywhere: the register, the zone map, and the training floor as the lowest-dosed room with cardio lowest of all. Climate changes pressure points only: Mumbai coastal and humid so drying is the issue and waterless is the honest format; Bengaluru mild so natural ventilation does more of the work; Delhi dry with a large seasonal swing so a December setting reads differently in June; Pune milder and drier than Mumbai. No SOSA product cleans, filters or purifies air or does anything about pollution. Vaayu Rs 11,999 per zone, Aangan Rs 25,999, Meenar Rs 38,500, registers from Rs 299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
How do I hold one signature across four clubs in four cities with different sizes and ventilation?
Six parts. 1. Fix the register once, for the whole group. One blend from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299), chosen once and never varied by city, because consistency is what makes a signature - not uniqueness. A member who trains in Pune and visits your Bengaluru club should recognise the building. 2. Stop writing the standard as a number. Setting four in a 12 ft Pune studio and setting four in a double-height Delhi club are not the same instruction. Volume, ceiling height and air change rate differ at every address, and air change rate is the one nobody accounts for: a gym is ventilated far harder than an office by design, so a well-ventilated branch replaces scented air faster and needs more machine per cubic metre than a sealed space of the same size. That is an honest trade-off and the answer is a system sized to the real exchange rate, or a lighter result you accept. We never suggest reducing fresh-air exchange so fragrance lasts longer, in any phrasing. 3. Write the standard as a perceived level. In words: at the entrance, a person walking in cold from the street registers the air as pleasant and cannot name it; in the lounge, a shade of the same thing; on the training floor, at or near nothing, and cardio lowest of all. 4. Give every branch a record card. Units, positions, intensity setting, schedule, date last calibrated, and who signed it off. Different at every address, and that is correct rather than a failure of standardisation. 5. Calibrate by cold nose, never by the manager. Anyone who has been in the building since six in the morning has adapted and cannot judge it. Send someone in from outside, at opening and at peak, in every branch, on the same week. 6. Size each building on its own air. Floor area times that room's ceiling height, divided by 35.3 for cubic metres; a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) serves about 1000m³ of CONNECTED air, and a club with a reception, a floor, two studios and a changing room is not one connected volume. Ducted branches price against Aangan (₹25,999) or Meenar (₹38,500) instead. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with all four floor plans, ceiling heights and opening hours. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: one register for the group, a PERCEIVED level as the standard, and a per-branch record card holding the units, placement and intensity that achieved it - because the same number in a different building is a different result. Why the same setting is not the same result in a different building
Three parts: why identical settings diverge across buildings, how to write a standard that survives that, and what climate in these four cities honestly does and does not change.
Why this works
One brand, four buildings - what is fixed and what is local
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
Why setting four is not setting four in a different building
Run the arithmetic for a plausible version of your four clubs and the problem becomes obvious. A 2,500 sq ft Bengaluru studio at a 12 ft ceiling is 2,500 multiplied by 12, which is 30,000 cubic feet, and 30,000 divided by 35.3 is about 850 cubic metres. A 1,800 sq ft Pune studio at 12 ft is 21,600 cubic feet, about 612 cubic metres. A 4,000 sq ft Mumbai club at 14 ft is 56,000 cubic feet, about 1,586 cubic metres. A 6,000 sq ft Delhi club at 16 ft is 96,000 cubic feet, about 2,720 cubic metres. Those four numbers span more than four to one, which alone would defeat a single intensity instruction - but volume is only the first variable. The second is ceiling height on its own, because two clubs of the same floor area with different heights hold different amounts of air and, more subtly, deliver it differently: warm air rises, and a double-height training hall moves scented air away from the breathing zone in a way a 12 ft studio does not. The third variable is the one that almost nobody writes into a standard, and it is the largest: AIR CHANGE RATE. Fresh air entering a building removes scented air continuously, and a gym is ventilated far harder than an office by design. Two branches of identical volume with different air handling will produce completely different results from the same setting, and a well-ventilated club is genuinely a harder scenting job than a sealed one of the same size. We say that honestly rather than hiding it, and the answer to it is a system sized to the real exchange rate or a lighter result you accept - never, in any phrasing, less fresh air, which in a building full of people breathing hard would be indefensible advice. Add the fourth variable, which is that connected volume is not the same as total volume: a club with a reception, an open floor, two studio rooms, a changing area and a cafe is five bodies of air and not one. Now consider what a group standard written as a number actually does across all four of those. It produces a Delhi branch that smells of nothing, a Pune branch that smells too strongly, and a group operations head who thinks two of the four managers are ignoring the policy.
Tip: volume, height, air change rate and connectedness all differ by address - which is four reasons why one number cannot be the standard.

The standard
Write the target as a perceived level and let the settings be local
The fix is to change what the document specifies. Build it in three layers. LAYER ONE is fixed for the whole group and does not vary by city, size or ventilation: one register from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299) chosen once - a dry, green, quiet one suits a gym - the zone map that says which rooms carry character and which do not, and the non-negotiable that the training floor is the lowest-dosed room in every building with the cardio zone lowest of all. That last rule travels because its cause travels: a member breathing hard is moving many times the air a member at the desk is moving, so the same setting is experienced as far more intense out on the floor, in every city, in every building. It is a perception and dosing fact, not a health claim in either direction. LAYER TWO is the perceived-level target, and it is written in sentences, not numbers. Something like: a person walking in from the street registers the air as pleasant within the first three or four steps and cannot name what it is; in the member lounge the same character is present but fainter; on the strength floor it is a shadow; in cardio there is effectively nothing. That description is transferable to any building on earth. A setting number is transferable to none. LAYER THREE is the branch record card, and it is different at every address by design. It holds the number of machines, exactly where each one stands, the intensity setting, the schedule on the app, the date of the last calibration and the name of the person who signed it. When anything changes - a new studio, a partition removed, an air handling upgrade, a season - the card is updated and the branch is recalibrated. The mental shift is that layer three is not a deviation from the standard, it is the evidence that the standard is being met. Two branches with different numbers on their cards and the same perceived level at the door are in perfect compliance. Two branches with identical numbers and different perceived levels are not.

The cities
What climate honestly changes in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune
Climate is a real variable and it is worth being exact about what it moves, which is the source work and the ventilation pattern rather than the register. MUMBAI is coastal and humid with a heavy monsoon, so drying is the pressure point in that building. Towels that do not dry, shower areas that stay wet, floors that never fully dry and shoes stored damp will dominate the smell of a Mumbai club regardless of what any machine is doing, so extraction, laundry turnaround and drying time carry more weight there than anywhere else in your group. There is also an honest format consequence: an ultrasonic machine works by adding a fine water mist to the air, which is precisely the wrong thing to add to saturated monsoon air, whereas the Vaayu (₹11,999) is waterless and adds no moisture at all. BENGALURU is mild and temperate, which means natural ventilation does more of the work, and that cuts both ways: the building is easier to keep fresh and harder to keep scented, because a branch running with openings open is replacing its air continuously. Expect that branch's card to show a different configuration from the others for exactly that reason, and treat it as correct rather than as a fault. DELHI is dry with a large seasonal swing, and the practical consequence for you is that a level set in December genuinely reads differently in June - dry cold air and dry heat are not the same medium, and the branch should be recalibrated at least at the turn of the seasons rather than set once and forgotten. Seasonal air quality also changes WHEN a Delhi building chooses to ventilate, which affects your air change rate through the year and therefore the setting on the card. We have to be completely plain about the limit of that observation: no SOSA product cleans, filters or purifies air, none of them removes anything from air, and none of them helps with pollution in any way. Fragrance adds scent. That is the whole of what it does, and anyone telling you otherwise about any product is selling you something that does not exist. PUNE is milder and drier than Mumbai, which usually makes it the least demanding of your four on the source-control side and a good place to establish the perceived level that the other three are then calibrated against. Send all four floor plans, ceiling heights room by room, opening hours and a zone list to +91 96192 18531.
Tip: climate moves the source work and the ventilation pattern, never the register - and nothing on this page cleans, filters or purifies anybody's air.
The SOSA principle
A group fragrance standard written as a number is not a standard. It is four different results wearing the same instruction - because no two of your buildings hold or exchange air the same way.
Fix the register and the perceived level for the group. Let the unit count, the placement, the setting and the schedule be local, recorded, and different at every address.

The SOSA commercial edit
Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the full commercial range.

Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.
Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Should the smallest branch just use a cheaper machine to save money?
Size it on its air rather than on its rank in the group, and the answer usually follows on its own. A 1,800 sq ft studio at a 12 ft ceiling is 21,600 cubic feet, about 612 cubic metres, which sits comfortably inside one Vaayu at Rs 11,999 with room to spare - so the smallest branch is not being over-specified, it is simply being served by the same standard piece of equipment as the others. Where a genuinely cheaper option is honest is a single small closed room: a manager's cabin, an office or a washroom runs happily on a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Megh at Rs 3,499 with a water-based register from Rs 299, or on reeds from Rs 749 with no power and nothing to schedule. What we would avoid is putting a room-scale machine into a whole club floor and then explaining to the branch manager why their building does not match the group standard. The equipment is not where a multi-site programme should be economising.
How often should each branch be recalibrated?
Once a quarter as a routine, plus four triggers. The routine visit is a cold-nose walk-in at opening and again at peak by someone who has not been in that building that day, ideally the same person across all four branches in the same week so the comparison means something. The triggers are: any change to the physical space, because a removed partition or a new studio changes the connected volume; any change to air handling or to how the branch ventilates, which is the biggest single lever; the turn of a season, which matters most in Delhi where a level set in December reads differently in June; and any complaint from a member or a staff member, which is a recalibration signal rather than a tolerance problem and should be answered by dropping a setting rather than by explaining the policy. Your trainers and floor staff are the most exposed people in each building - eight to ten hour shifts in that air - and they are the best instrument you have.
Our Bengaluru branch says it cannot hold the fragrance. Is the machine faulty?
Probably not, and the question to ask first is how that branch ventilates. A club in a mild climate that runs with openings open, or with a higher fresh-air setting on its air handling, is exchanging its air faster than a sealed building of the same size, and fresh air removes scented air continuously. That is not a fault in the machine and it is not a failure by the branch - it is the honest trade-off of good ventilation, and a well-ventilated gym is genuinely harder to scent. There are two legitimate responses. Size the branch to its real air change rate, which may mean an additional unit for the connected volume it is actually serving, or accept a lighter result there and note it on the card. There is a third response that we will not give you in any phrasing, which is to reduce fresh-air exchange so the fragrance survives longer. In a room full of people breathing hard that would be indefensible, and no fragrance outcome is worth it.
Can different branches use different registers if their interiors are different?
We would not, and the reason is what the register is for. A signature works because a member's nose recognises the building before their eyes do, and that only happens if the character is the same everywhere they encounter your brand. Two registers across four branches is not a richer identity; it is two air fresheners and a member who cannot tell whether the Pune club is part of the same company. Where you can legitimately vary things is level and zone map, both of which will differ anyway because the buildings do. If one branch has an interior that genuinely fights the group register - a very dark, timber-heavy club against a bright white-tea register, say - the honest move is to reconsider the group register once, for everyone, rather than to fork it. If you want something that exists only in your buildings, bespoke composition is a real SOSA service and a WhatsApp conversation on +91 96192 18531.
Will the same fragrance help members in one city more than another?
We are not going to make that claim, in either direction. What ambient scent research supports is improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell and stronger recall, at moderate effect sizes, and none of that is city-specific in any way we could responsibly assert. What genuinely differs by city is the source-control workload: a Mumbai club fights humidity and drying time, a Delhi club fights a large seasonal swing and has to think harder about when it ventilates, a Bengaluru club gets more help from natural ventilation, and a Pune club sits somewhere easier than Mumbai. Those are climate facts and they affect how much work the building needs before fragrance is worth adding at all. They are not claims about what the fragrance does to your members, and we would be cautious about any supplier who offers you one.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA commercial range; the scent-marketing strategy advice applies to any business's systems.
Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint. SOSA systems: alcohol-free reed diffusers from ₹749 for single rooms with no power needed; Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (₹1,899) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (₹3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills from ₹999, 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively.
