This is not a product problem. Every showroom in your group can run the same machine and the same blend and still smell like four different businesses, because consistency across sites is a settings-and-discipline question rather than a purchasing one. It comes down to three things: one register agreed and written down, one recorded setting per site rather than one number copied across all of them, and one named person who owns it. And there is an honest fork at the start - a multi-brand group may not want every floor to smell the same, and that is a legitimate choice with a real cost.
Quick answers — read this first
How do you keep several dealerships smelling the same? Standardise three things and write them down. One register, chosen once for the group and not revisited by each site manager. One documented setting per site, arrived at by matching the perceived level rather than by copying a number. And one named owner - a single person in the group who holds the standard, changes it when it needs changing, and is the only person who does. The machine helps the discipline: a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 has a Bluetooth app and timer, so the schedule and intensity are set once and are not adjusted by whoever is standing nearest. What defeats every group standard is a well-meaning branch manager turning it up because they stopped being able to smell it.

Will the same setting produce the same result in two different showrooms? No, and this is the point most groups get wrong. A machine setting is an output rate, not a result. The same number in a 3,500 sq ft floor at fourteen feet, which is 49,000 cubic feet or about 1,388 cubic metres, and in a 2,000 sq ft floor at eleven feet, which is 22,000 cubic feet or about 623 cubic metres, gives you two very different rooms - and that is before differences in air conditioning, door traffic, glazing, floor finish and how many cars are on the floor. So do not standardise the number. Standardise the perceived level: get each site to the same quiet presence by ear, then record whatever setting achieved it, site by site.

Should every brand in a multi-brand group smell the same? Not necessarily, and there is a real argument on both sides. One register across the group gives you a recognisable house standard, one set of documentation, one training conversation and one thing to get right. Separate registers per brand can be a legitimate decision when the franchises are genuinely different in character and the floors are physically separate buildings - a marque with a cool, technical identity and one with a warmer heritage identity are not obliged to smell identical. The cost is complexity: more registers to hold, more settings to record, more chance of drift, and a harder time when staff move between sites. Choose deliberately rather than by accident, and write down which you chose.
The short answer
Short answer: Consistency across a dealership group is a settings-and-discipline problem, not a product one. Agree one register, document one setting per site, and give one named person ownership of both. Identical numeric settings in differently sized showrooms produce different results, so match the perceived level by walking in cold and record whatever setting achieved it. A multi-brand group may legitimately want each brand's floor distinct, at a real cost in complexity. Vaayu Rs 11,999 with app and timer, Megh Rs 3,499, registers from Rs 299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for premises to ~1000m³; reeds from ₹749 for a single room; cabin systems from ₹1,899; HVAC from ₹25,999.

Commercial scent marketing - at a glanceStep 1 - customers judge your premises in the first breath, before a wordStep 2 - one signature = premium feel, longer visits, brand recallStep 3 - size the system: Vaayu ₹11,999 covers most commercial floorsSingle rooms - reeds ₹749 · large premises - HVAC to ₹38,500Scheduled, hands-off · WhatsApp consult available
Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
Straight answer
How does a dealership group with several sites keep them all smelling the same?
Five moves, and none of them is a bigger machine. 1. Decide the fork first. One register across the group, or one per brand. One register is simpler, more recognisable and far easier to hold. Separate registers per marque are defensible when the brands are genuinely distinct and the buildings are separate, and the cost is real: more to document, more to train, more to drift. Choose it deliberately and write down the choice. 2. Agree the register once. For a showroom floor that is the Ritz-Carlton-inspired blend (white tea, bergamot, cedar) or the Westin-inspired blend (white tea, aloe, cedar) from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299), with the St. Regis-inspired blend (amber, violet, woods) reserved for an evening delivery lounge. These are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. 3. Match the level, not the number. A 3,500 sq ft floor at fourteen feet is 49,000 cubic feet, about 1,388m³. A 2,000 sq ft floor at eleven feet is 22,000 cubic feet, about 623m³. The same setting in both gives two different rooms. Calibrate each site by walking in cold, then record the setting that got it there. 4. Write it down. One sheet per site: machine, position, register, setting, schedule, who to call. Not in someone's head, and not in a WhatsApp thread from last year. 5. Name one owner. One person in the group changes settings; everyone else raises a request. A Vaayu (₹11,999) with app and timer makes that enforceable. Staff sensitivity reports go to the same person and are a recalibration signal, never a tolerance problem. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your site list. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: one register, one recorded setting per site matched by perceived level not by number, one named owner - and a locked app schedule so nobody else adjusts it. Vaayu ₹11,999, blends from ₹299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The commercial standard most businesses choose: the SOSA Vaayu - waterless cold-air scenting to ~1000m³, Bluetooth app and timer, one signature on schedule - at ₹11,999. Why identical settings do not produce identical rooms

Three things separate a group that holds a standard from one that thinks it has: the honest fork on whether to be uniform at all, the arithmetic that stops numbers from travelling, and the person whose name is on it.

Why this works
What actually makes a group standard hold across sites
1Decide first whether every brand should smell the same - both answers are valid2One register, agreed once, not re-chosen by each branch manager3Match the perceived level per site, then record the setting that achieved it4One named owner, one locked app schedule - Vaayu Rs 11,999 makes it enforceable
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
1
The fork
One house standard, or one per marque - both are defensible
Most groups reach for uniformity without examining it, so it is worth putting the alternative properly. The case for one register across every site is strong: a customer who services a car at one of your sites and buys at another meets one business rather than two, the documentation is a single sheet, training is one conversation, and there is exactly one thing to get right and keep right. It is also the cheaper answer in staff time, which is the currency that actually runs out. The case for a register per brand is not vanity. Franchises come with their own identity, their own interiors and often their own customer, and a group that runs a cool technical marque in a glass-and-steel building alongside a heritage marque in a warmer, woodier showroom has a real reason to let those floors differ. The cost is complexity, and it compounds: more blends to keep on site, more settings to record, more scope for the wrong bottle to end up in the wrong building, and a harder time when a manager transfers and brings the wrong instinct with them. There is also a middle position that works well, which is one register for the group with a different level and a different secondary space per brand - a St. Regis-inspired evening delivery lounge at one site, a plain white tea register everywhere else.
Tip: choose uniformity or difference on purpose - the failure is a group that has both by accident.
2
The arithmetic
A setting is an output rate, not a result
This is the technical heart of the page and the thing that trips up almost every group. Machine settings do not describe rooms; they describe how much a machine puts out. Two of your floors, both running the same model on the same number, will not smell the same, and the arithmetic shows why immediately. Take a 3,500 sq ft showroom at a fourteen-foot ceiling: 3,500 multiplied by 14 is 49,000 cubic feet, and 49,000 divided by 35.3 is about 1,388 cubic metres. Now take a 2,000 sq ft floor at eleven feet: 2,000 multiplied by 11 is 22,000 cubic feet, about 623 cubic metres. That is more than twice the air in the first building, and height is doing most of the work - a point covered properly on the ceiling height page. Then layer in everything else that differs between sites: how hard the air conditioning runs, how often the main doors open, how much glazing faces the afternoon sun, whether the floor is polished stone or carpet tile, and how many cars are standing on it. The correct method is therefore perceptual, not numerical. Walk into each site cold, first thing, through the customer entrance. Adjust until the presence matches the standard you have agreed. Then write down whatever setting produced it - and expect those numbers to differ site by site, because they should.
3
The discipline
One name on the standard, and a locked schedule under it
Every group scenting standard fails the same way, and it is never dramatic. A branch manager stops being able to smell the floor - which is olfactory adaptation working exactly as it should, after a fortnight in the same air - concludes the machine has stopped, and turns it up. Nobody records it. Three weeks later the same thing happens from the new baseline. Six months on, one site is noticeably strong, another has run out of blend and been off for a fortnight, and the group standard exists only on paper. The defence is structural. Name one person who owns settings across the group; everyone else raises a request rather than making a change. Keep one sheet per site with machine, position, register, setting, schedule and contact. Put the intensity somewhere it cannot be casually adjusted - the Vaayu's Bluetooth app and timer at ₹11,999 are the practical version of this, since the schedule and level are set once and are not a dial on a wall. And build in the audit: the owner walks each site cold, in the morning, through the customer door, on a rota. Anyone reporting sensitivity, staff especially, goes to that same owner, and the answer is always to come down a setting rather than to explain the standard to them.
Tip: the manager most likely to turn it up is the one who has been standing in it longest - which is why the setting needs an owner.
The SOSA principle
Consistency is a written sheet and a named person, not a machine. Two identical machines on identical numbers will still give you two different showrooms.
Match the perceived level site by site, record whatever setting achieved it, and let exactly one person change anything.

The SOSA commercial edit

Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the full commercial range.

Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.

Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How often should we audit the sites?
Quarterly is enough for a settled group, monthly while you are getting a new standard to hold, and always by walking in cold rather than by asking. The audit is not complicated: arrive first thing in the morning, before the site is busy, come in through the customer entrance rather than the staff door, and judge the first breath. Check the level against the standard, check that the machine is in the position on the sheet and not moved behind a pillar, check that the register in the machine is the one on the sheet, and check the schedule. Then ask two members of staff at the end of a shift, in a way that makes it genuinely safe to say it is too strong. Write down what you found and what you changed, on the same sheet. An audit that leaves no record is a visit.
A new site is much bigger than the others. Do we need a different system there?
Possibly, and it is a volume question rather than a brand question. Work it out: floor area in square feet multiplied by finished ceiling height in feet gives cubic feet, and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. A 5,000 sq ft showroom at fifteen feet is 75,000 cubic feet, which is about 2,125 cubic metres - past the roughly 1000 cubic metre rating of a single Vaayu, so that floor is either multiple units zoned across it or an HVAC system, the Aangan at Rs 25,999 for approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft or the Meenar at Rs 38,500 for approximately 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft. The register stays the same across the group; only the delivery method changes. Send the dimensions on WhatsApp to +91 96192 18531 and we will size it with you.
Our brands have their own corporate guidelines. Does that override the group standard?
It usually does, and you should assume it might. Franchise agreements frequently specify a great deal about the customer environment, and some manufacturers have their own position on ambient scenting, including approved suppliers or an outright preference for unscented showrooms. That is a conversation to have with your brand representative before you install anything, not after, and it is one of the reasons the group standard should be written down - a documented register and setting is far easier to discuss with a brand team than an informal habit. Where a manufacturer has no position, your group standard applies. Where it does, follow it on that floor and hold the standard everywhere else. Neither we nor this page overrides your franchise obligations.
Should the used car showroom smell the same as the new car floor?
The same register, yes, if it sits under the same group. The distinction worth making is not brand but condition of the room: a used car floor has an older stock profile, more variation between cars, and often a preparation area closer to the display than a new car showroom would tolerate. That means the subtraction work matters more there - preparation and valeting extracted and behind a door, the floor properly ventilated, and cars that have been properly prepared before they reach display. Get that right and the same register at the same perceived level makes the two floors feel like one business, which is usually the point. What you should not do is use a stronger setting on the used floor to compensate for a preparation area that has not been separated.
Does one consistent scent across the group increase sales at our sites?
We will not claim it does, and any supplier who puts a percentage on it is inventing one. What the ambient scent research supports, at moderate effect sizes, is improved evaluations of a space and the service delivered in it, longer dwell and stronger recall, with congruence and gentle intensity outperforming strong scenting. Recall is the part that is genuinely relevant to a group, because a consistent register across sites is the mechanism by which a customer's memory of one of your buildings attaches to all of them. But it is not a sales lever, and it does not survive a floor that is poorly ventilated, badly cleaned or badly staffed. Get the building right, hold one quiet standard across it, and let that be the whole claim.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA commercial range; the scent-marketing strategy advice applies to any business's systems.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint. SOSA systems: alcohol-free reed diffusers from ₹749 for single rooms with no power needed; Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (₹1,899) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (₹3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills from ₹999, 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively.
