Three rooms: two Sukoons + a Boond = ₹4,697, six 15ml scents included.
Four rooms: one Sukoon + three Boonds = ₹4,596.
What to skip: the corridor, the kitchen, and any room you do not sit in.
2. Three rooms: two Sukoons and a Boond, ₹4,697. Sukoons at ₹1,899 in the living-dining zone and the master bedroom, a Boond at ₹899 in the smaller second bedroom. Six 15ml scents come in the two Sukoon boxes, so day one costs nothing more.
3. Two rooms with fragrance to spare: ₹4,597. One Sukoon ₹1,899, one Boond ₹899 and a 300ml bottle at ₹1,799 — about ₹6 a millilitre and well over a year of supply for both machines. This is the build for someone who knows which scent they want.
4. Four rooms, if they are small: ₹4,596. One Sukoon for the living-dining zone and three Boonds at ₹899 each for three bedrooms — ₹1,899 + ₹2,697. It only works if those bedrooms are genuinely under about 150 sq ft, which most second and third bedrooms are.
5. Spend nothing on corridors, kitchens or spare rooms. A passage takes fragrance from the rooms either side and gives nothing back. A kitchen loses to whatever is on the hob. A guest room used twice a year gets a machine carried in for the weekend. Each one skipped is ₹899 to ₹1,899 that goes into a room you actually sit in — and for an entrance that should always smell of something, a reed diffuser from ₹749 does the job with no socket and nothing to switch on.

Why ₹5,000 is a generous ceiling, not a tight one
The reason a five-thousand-rupee budget goes further than people expect is that home fragrance has no hidden second purchase. There is a machine and there is a bottle, and the bottle is small money — about ₹6 a millilitre in a 300ml at ₹1,799, used at three to six drops a tank. There is no cartridge, no proprietary pod, no subscription and no consumable that expires on a schedule. So almost the entire budget goes into hardware, and hardware is priced by room. At ₹1,899 for a large room and ₹899 for a small one, ₹5,000 buys three rooms with change, and three rooms is more than most flats want scented.
What the ceiling does that is genuinely useful is force the triage that people avoid when money is not tight. Given an open budget, the instinct is to buy a machine per door — six for a 3BHK, counting the passage and the kitchen — and the result is a flat that smells slightly of everything and distinctly of nothing, with four tanks nobody fills after the first month. Given ₹5,000 you have to name the rooms, and naming them exposes how few there really are: the room where people gather, the room where you sleep, and possibly one more. Corridors, kitchens, bathrooms and guest rooms fall off the list, and they fall off correctly rather than reluctantly, because fragrance does not pass through a closed door and does not survive a transit space. A budget that produces the same shopping list a good plan would have produced is not a constraint at all. It is a shortcut.
The three ways to spend it, and who each is for
SOSA Sukoon₹1,899Spend the whole budget on machines and let the included fragrance carry you. Two Sukoons at ₹1,899 and one Boond at ₹899 is ₹4,697, covers three separate rooms, and arrives with six 15ml scents — roughly 450 tank-fills before you buy anything. This is the right route for a 2BHK or 3BHK where more than one room genuinely gets used, and for anyone who has not yet decided which fragrance they want to live with. You can buy the 300ml in six months when you know. What ₹5,000 buys in your home
Room counts assume bedroom doors are shut for at least part of the day. The last column is the honest one — what the budget does not reach, so you can decide whether it matters before you order.
| Home | What ₹5,000 buys | Total | What it leaves out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1RK | Sukoon + Pack of 7 + a reed for the entrance | ₹1,899 + ₹1,799 + ₹749 = ₹4,447 | Nothing — this is complete |
| 1BHK | Sukoon + Boond + a 300ml | ₹1,899 + ₹899 + ₹1,799 = ₹4,597 | Nothing — this is complete |
| 2BHK ★ | 2 × Sukoon + 1 × Boond, six 15ml included | ₹3,798 + ₹899 = ₹4,697 | The corridor and kitchen, correctly |
| 3BHK | 1 × Sukoon + 3 × Boond, three 15ml included | ₹1,899 + ₹2,697 = ₹4,596 | The passage — and it should stay left out |
| 4BHK | Three rooms of it: 2 × Sukoon + 1 × Boond | ₹4,697 | The fourth bedroom — add a Boond later for ₹899 |
| Duplex or villa | The bedrooms only | ₹4,697 for three | The connected common volume — that is Vaayu territory at ₹11,999 |
| The line that saves the most in every row: nothing goes in the corridor. A passage borrows its smell from the rooms either side, so a machine there is ₹899 or ₹1,899 spent on a draught. If an entrance must smell of something, a reed diffuser from ₹749 does it with no socket and nothing to switch on. | |||

Making a small budget last
Buy in order of hours spent. If the whole build cannot be afforded at once — and there is no reason it has to be — start with the room you are in most, which is almost always the living-dining zone, and put the Sukoon there. Live with it for a month. Add the bedroom machine when the first one has stopped being a novelty and started being a habit. A staged purchase costs exactly the same total and it protects you from the commonest waste in this category, which is a machine bought for a room that turns out not to want one. It also spreads the spend across two or three months, which is often the difference between this being affordable now and being postponed indefinitely.
Then run it in a way that keeps the fragrance line small. Three to four drops a tank, not six, and shorter runs rather than continuous ones — an hour or two in the early evening for the public rooms and an hour before sleep for the bedrooms. Scent takes twenty to thirty minutes to fill a room and your nose stops registering a constant smell in about the same time, so a machine left on all evening spends most of it on a perception you no longer have. Shut the door while it runs and open up afterwards; a ceiling fan or an AC on high will empty a room of fragrance faster than any dose can fill it.
Then protect the machines, because a replacement is the one purchase this budget cannot absorb. Use filtered water in hard-water cities, rinse the tank when you change scents rather than topping over the old fragrance, and never put raw essential or carrier oil into an ultrasonic — it is too viscous to atomise and will foul the misting plate. The Hotel Collection is water-based and composed for exactly this kind of machine, which is also the reason it cannot be used in the waterless Vaayu. And do not spend any part of a tight budget on a Megh: at ₹3,499 it covers 215 sq ft, less than a ₹1,899 Sukoon, and it would eat two-thirds of this ceiling for one room.
Four builds, itemised and totalled
Every line adds up, and the last column is what you have left. Pick the row that matches your room count rather than the one that spends the most — there is no prize for reaching ₹5,000.

People apologise when they tell me their budget is ₹5,000, and they should not. It is more than I would spend on my own flat. I have two machines running at home in Pune and a third that lives in a cupboard and comes out when we have people over. That is under ₹5,000 of hardware and it has been the same setup for years.
The reason a low ceiling works so well here is that it argues with you at exactly the right moment. The temptation in home fragrance is always one more machine — for the passage, for the guest room, for the kitchen — and every one of those is a machine that will be filled twice and then forgotten. A budget makes you say out loud which rooms you actually use, and that sentence is the plan. I have never seen a flat improved by the fifth diffuser.
So: name your rooms, buy a Sukoon for each large one and a Boond for each small one, use the fragrance that comes in the box, and spend the change on nothing for six months. Then buy one 300ml of whichever scent you kept reaching for. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali, and that is true of a ₹899 order as much as a ₹5,000 one.
