What fluid goes into which SOSA product? Three different fluids and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers run their own alcohol-free reed oil. The ultrasonic machines run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299 for 15ml and ₹999 for 100ml. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebuliser oil at ₹1,049 for 100 gm. The ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into a Vaayu or a Safar.
Is the Rs 299 bottle a cheap gift on its own? No, and it is worth being clear about it. The ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is fuel for an ultrasonic machine, not a standalone gift, so it only makes sense alongside a Boond or a Sukoon. The cheapest real standalone gift in the range is a 3ml attar at ₹379.
What each format asks of him, and the fluid question nobody explains
Three things separate these two formats, and none of them is scent quality. What each one asks of the person using it, where it physically has to stand, and which fluid it drinks - work through those and the choice makes itself.
The reason this matters for a retired father specifically is not that he could not manage a machine. It is that a gift which depends on a new habit forming has two ways to fail and a gift which depends on nothing has none. If you are choosing for somebody whose preferences you are partly guessing at, the format with no maintenance attached is the one that survives the guess.
Now the honest part. That is a recurring task: fill, dose, switch on, and do it again when it runs out. For a man who likes tinkering with things and has the afternoon free, that is a feature - a small object with a routine attached to it and a visible result. For a man who finds fiddly objects irritating, it is a chore, and a chore attached to a gift is a fair thing to think about before buying it. Ask yourself which he is, and note that he needs a free socket within reach of wherever it is going to stand.
None of the three is interchangeable, and the specific error to avoid is putting the ₹299 water-based bottle into a Safar or a Vaayu because it is the cheapest bottle on the site. It is also why the ₹299 bottle is not a gift on its own: it is fuel, and it only means anything if he already has the machine it belongs to. The cheapest genuine standalone gift in the range remains a 3ml attar at ₹379.
- Decide honestly whether a small recurring task suits him or annoys him.
- If you are unsure, buy the reed at Rs 749 to Rs 849 and stop there.
- If a machine, check there is a free socket near where he actually sits.
- Buy the machine with its own fluid: Hotel Collection from Rs 299, 15ml.
Reed, Boond or Sukoon - what you get for ₹749, ₹899 and ₹1,899
If the reed wins, the scent choice is quick. Morning Freshness at ₹749 is Malabar lemon and mint, Garden Bloom at ₹799 is British rose and night jasmine, Evening Calm at ₹799 is lavender and chamomile - a product name rather than a description of an effect - Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is pine, sage and cedar, and Fresh Brew at ₹849 is Coorg coffee with Kerala vanilla. If the machine wins, the scent choice moves to the Hotel Collection, which is SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations rather than anything licensed - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand - at ₹299 for 15ml and ₹999 for 100ml, with refills from ₹999. One practical point either way: a machine puts out a visible mist and a reed does not, and for some people that visible working is half the appeal.
| The option | Who it suits, and where it fails |
|---|---|
| A 50ml reed diffuser · ₹749 to ₹849 | Reeds in alcohol-free oil, about 6 to 10 weeks, no cord, no water, no switch and nothing to remember. The right answer whenever you are not certain a new routine would be welcome. It fails only if he actively wanted something to operate, or if the room is a large open living and dining space, where the 130ml from ₹1,249 is the size built for it. |
| Boond ultrasonic · ₹899 | A cool-mist ultrasonic machine that takes water plus the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299 for 15ml. The interesting gift for somebody who likes a small object with a routine attached and enjoys the visible mist. It fails if there is no free socket near his chair, or if fiddly maintenance is not his idea of an afternoon. |
| Sukoon ultrasonic · ₹1,899 | The larger ultrasonic on the same principle and the same water-based fluid, with Megh at ₹3,499 for a 6 litre capacity above it. Suits a bigger room and somebody who has already decided he likes running one. It fails as a first machine for a man who has never asked for one - start at ₹899 or do not start. |
| The Hotel Collection · from ₹299 | Water-based fragrance for the ultrasonic machines, ₹299 for 15ml and ₹999 for 100ml, with refills from ₹999. Correct and cheap as fuel for a machine he owns. It fails as a standalone gift, because on its own there is nothing to put it in - and it must never go into a Safar or a Vaayu, which take waterless nebuliser oil. |
Two cases where neither format is the answer. If he is out of the house most of the day, home fragrance is the wrong category altogether and a 3ml attar at ₹379 or car fragrance at ₹449 does more. And if somebody has suggested SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for his flat, check the space first: it is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains and CE, RoHS and SGS marks, and it needs one genuinely large open volume to make any sense. In a two-bedroom flat with the doors shut it is an expensive way to scent a single room that a ₹799 reed handles properly. Fragrance adds a scent to a space in every one of these formats - it does not take one away.
The SOSA gifting range
Three questions settle almost every father gift. Will it be worn, in which case it is a taste decision and you need to be able to finish the sentence he usually wears something with...? Does it go in his car, where the only real choice is between the mild hanging format and the stronger spray at the same price, and where the gift is noticed every single morning? Or does it sit in a room, which is the answer for a retired father or one who works from home, and which asks nothing of you except knowing which room he actually sits in? Answer that first, then pick the band - because the commonest mistake here is spending more to cover up not knowing.
| Gift | What it is | Who it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| SOSA attars | Alcohol-free roll-on oil | Nawaab is the oud one and Ameeri the rose-and-sandalwood one - the traditional formats most Indian fathers already recognise | from ₹379 |
| SOSA Attar Trio | Pack of three attars | Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box - for when you cannot name what he wears | from ₹1,055 |
| SOSA car fragrance | Hanging or spray | Nine scents, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price - the gap in most fathers' lives | from ₹449 |
| SOSA Safar | Waterless car and travel diffuser | Cordless, rechargeable cold diffusion for a father who genuinely drives for hours or lives out of a suitcase | ₹3,999 |
| SOSA reed diffusers | Passive home fragrance | Five scents in 50ml and 130ml, nothing to plug in or switch off, about 6 to 10 weeks - the retired-father answer | from ₹749 |
| SOSA reed duo sets | Two reeds in one box | Day & Night, Fresh & Grounded and Warmth & Bloom - a gift to both parents rather than one | from ₹1,498 |
| SOSA Vaayu | Waterless cold-air machine | Approx 1000 m3 of connected air with a Bluetooth app and timer - a large home or his business premises | ₹11,999 |
Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹3,499 - run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
- Attars - Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179 and Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199 in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The Attar Trio is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 or ₹3,189.
- Reed diffusers - Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹849 in 50ml; 130ml from ₹1,249. They last about 6 to 10 weeks. Duo sets from ₹1,498.
- Car fragrance - nine scents from ₹449 to ₹549, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price, with 50ml sprays at ₹1,499 and saver combos at ₹899 to ₹949. Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.

Versailles
A striking number of the messages we get start the same way: my father says he doesn't want anything. In my experience that sentence almost never means what it says. It usually means do not spend money on me, which is a different instruction entirely, and it is one you can actually follow. The gift that works is small, it is used up rather than kept, and it goes somewhere he already is. That is why so much of what I recommend for fathers costs between ₹379 and ₹1,000, and why I am perfectly happy to talk somebody out of the bigger box.
The second thing I say is: look at his car. An Indian father who commutes has a space that belongs entirely to him, that he spends more waking hours in than any room of the house, and that he has almost certainly never spent a rupee on making pleasant. A ₹449 hanging bottle is noticed on the first morning and every morning after, which is more than most gifts three times the price manage. If he does not drive, look at what he wears - and if he has worn sandalwood or oud his whole life, an attar is not a novelty to him, it is the format he grew up with.
One honest caution about the first-salary gift, because we see it often and it is lovely. The instinct is to spend the whole feeling in one purchase, and to buy the most expensive thing in the range to make the point. The point does not need an expensive object to be made. Most fathers I hear about kept the small thing and mentioned the amount for years. Spend it on accuracy - the right scent, the right format, the right place - and put whatever is left back in your own account, which is a thing he would approve of more than the gift.

Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent and does not remove, neutralise or purify odour, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial, air-purifying or wellbeing claim. No claim is made about how any recipient will feel about a gift, and nothing here is a claim about mood, stress, calm or sleep: a fragrance is a scent, not a treatment, and where a product name contains a word such as Calm that is a name and not an effect. Recommendations by profession, age or routine describe where a person spends their day and nothing more; they are not claims about anybody's health, and no product here is suitable for use in a clinical setting on that basis. No delivery date, dispatch time, order cut-off, discount or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page; corporate and bulk enquiries are answered on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand; the SOSA perfumes are SOSA's own compositions and are not the designer fragrances they are described as being inspired by.
