Ahmedabad is not a coastal climate and the usual Indian scenting advice does not transfer. The air here is genuinely dry for much of the year, and dry air carries fragrance less readily - so the same setting that felt balanced in a humid month reads as thinner. Add air conditioning that runs almost without stopping from March, and you have two effects pointing the same way.
Then there is the thing everybody in this city already knows about: dust. Dust is particles and fragrance is vapour - they do not cancel, they coexist, and a visibly dusty display beside a strong fragrance tells a customer a story you did not intend. Filtration, slight positive pressure, a vestibule and decent entrance matting do what no machine can, and they make the machine work afterwards.
And Ahmedabad has a real winter, which most of my Indian clients do not. A level chosen in January, with the air conditioning barely running and the doors sometimes open, will feel noticeably heavier in a tightly sealed May.
