Founder Diaries · Reed Diffuser & Home Fragrance Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
If you are buying a fragrance gift for an address in one of these three cities, the honest news is that the city is the least useful thing you know about it. An open-plan living and dining hall is a 130ml room at ₹1,249 whether it is in Whitefield or Kokapet, and a closed bedroom is a 50ml room at ₹749 in all three - so the decision is made by the floor plan, and a city name on its own tells you nothing you can buy from. What the city does change is the odds: what proportion of its homes are newer open-plan flats and what proportion are older closed-room ones. That is worth knowing when nobody can describe the room to you, and worth ignoring the moment somebody can.
SOSA Garden Bloom reed diffuser, British rose and night jasmine, from Rs 799
SOSA Garden Bloom · British rose and night-blooming jasmine from ₹799 →
The same scent works in all three cities, because the decision was never about the city. SOSA Garden Bloom, ₹799 for 50ml and ₹1,299 for 130ml - British rose and night-blooming jasmine, about 6 to 10 weeks, no flame and nothing to plug in. Buy the 50ml for a closed room and the 130ml for one open hall, in Whitefield, Kokapet or a low-rise flat in Mysuru alike.
Quick answers — read this first
Does the city change which reed diffuser I should buy? Barely. The layout decides it. One open living and dining space is a 130ml room at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 in all three cities; a closed bedroom, study or separate sitting room is a 50ml room at ₹749 to ₹849 in all three. A reed diffuser is sized by volume of connected air, not by address.

So what do the three cities differ on? The mix. Bengaluru and Hyderabad have large amounts of newer open-plan apartment supply alongside older closed-room housing, and Hyderabad homes are additionally run shut with air conditioning for much of the year. Mysuru is weighted further towards independent houses and older low-rise homes, so closed separate rooms are the more common shape there.

What do I buy when nobody can tell me the layout? Two 50ml bottles rather than one large one. A Day & Night duo at ₹1,498 cannot be over-sized for any room in any of the three cities, which is exactly the risk you take when you guess a 130ml. Fresh & Grounded duo is ₹1,548 and Warmth & Bloom duo is ₹1,598.
The short answer
Short answer: Buy for the layout, not the city. An open-plan living and dining hall takes a 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 in Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Mysuru alike; a closed bedroom or separate sitting room takes a 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 in all three. The cities differ only in how common each layout is, and when nobody can describe the room, a duo set of two 50ml bottles at Rs 1,498 is the safe answer.
The pick: A 50ml from ₹749 for a closed room and a 130ml from ₹1,249 for one open hall, with a Day & Night duo at ₹1,498 whenever the layout is unknown.
Why: A reed diffuser is sized by the volume of connected air it has to work in, and that is a property of the floor plan rather than of the city the floor plan sits in.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
How should you choose a reed diffuser gift for a home in Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Mysuru?
By the plan of the home, and then by how much you actually know about it. The rule does not change across the three cities: one open living and dining space is a 130ml room at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349, and a closed bedroom, study or separate sitting room is a 50ml room at ₹749 to ₹849, in Whitefield, in Kokapet and in a low-rise flat in Mysuru equally. What differs between the three is only how likely each layout is. Bengaluru pairs a large amount of newer gated-development supply, where the living and dining area is usually one open room, with older closed-room flats and houses in its central and southern parts. Hyderabad has much of its newer high-rise supply in the western corridor, where halls are often large and tall, while its older central and old-city homes are closed plans - and across the city homes are run shut with air conditioning for a good part of the hot dry year, which keeps a scent where it is put. Mysuru is weighted furthest towards independent houses and older low-rise buildings, so separate rooms behind doors are the common case and the 50ml is right more often than in either of the other two. The practical consequence: when somebody can describe the room, buy for the room and ignore the city. When nobody can, buy a Day & Night duo at ₹1,498, because two 50ml bottles cannot be over-sized for anything. All five scents run about 6 to 10 weeks with no flame, no socket and nothing to switch off. Do not buy at all where the household already keeps a scent it chose itself going. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India, so any of this is a gift sent to an address in those cities and nothing more; a portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The question a city page should answer is not what do people there like. It is what are the rooms shaped like - and the answer to that is a floor plan, not a pin code.
One open hall: 130ml from ₹1,249, in any of the three. A closed room: 50ml from ₹749, in any of the three. Layout unknown: a duo set from ₹1,498.
Reed diffusers from ₹749

What actually differs between the three cities, and what does not

Three things are worth separating here: what is genuinely the same across the three cities, what genuinely differs, and what you should do when nobody will tell you either. The first is the shortest and the most useful.

1
The first variable
The rule that does not change: connected air
A reed diffuser works in the volume of air a room is connected to. A shut bedroom is a small volume with a door across it. A living room that runs into a dining area, with a kitchen opening onto it and a balcony line down one side, is a large one. That single measurement decides the bottle, and it is not affected in the slightest by which of the three cities the room is in.

So: 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 for a bedroom, a study, a separate sitting room, a hallway or anybody receiving their first diffuser. 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 for one open living and dining volume. The commonest mistake in the whole category - a 130ml bought for a small closed bedroom, then carried out to a corridor - is made just as often in a new tower as in an old house, and costs the same ₹500 either way.
Tip: Ask how many doorways the scent has to cross. That is the size question.
2
The second variable
What the three cities actually differ on
They differ on proportions, and on how homes are run. Bengaluru holds a great deal of newer gated-development supply on its eastern and northern corridors, where the living and dining space is typically one open room, next to older closed-room flats and houses in the central and southern parts of the city; for much of the year the weather allows windows to stay open, which means air moving through a home. Hyderabad concentrates much of its newer high-rise building in the western corridor, where halls are frequently large and tall, while the older central areas and old city are closed plans - and for a good part of the hot dry year homes there are run shut with air conditioning on, so a room is not exchanging air with the outside and a scent stays where it is put.

Mysuru is the outlier of the three: proportionally more independent houses and older low-rise buildings, most of them drawn before the single open living-and-dining volume became the standard plan, with newer open-hall apartment supply mainly on the outer edges. The practical effect is that a Mysuru gift is a 50ml far more often, and a duo set covering two rooms is more useful there than one larger bottle. None of this is a claim about the people in any of the three cities - it is a claim about when the buildings went up and how they were drawn.
3
The third variable
What to do when nobody can describe the room
This is the real situation in most of this gifting, because the person who moved usually moved for work and the invitation arrived as an address rather than a floor plan. There are three honest routes. Ask one person who has been, in one message: is the hall one open room, or a separate hall and dining. Read the invitation, which quite often names the development and the configuration. Or stop guessing and buy two small bottles instead of one large one - a Day & Night duo at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded duo at ₹1,548 or Warmth & Bloom duo at ₹1,598 puts a 50ml into two rooms, and a 50ml is never too big for anything.

And the case for buying nothing: a household already running a scent it chose itself does not need a second opinion on its living room. Buy for an unhandled room instead, or buy a refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, published for four of the five scents. If a ₹749 object is heavier than the relationship, a candle at ₹399 for about 15 to 18 hours is the proportionate gift.
Tip: When you cannot learn the layout, buy the size that cannot be wrong.
SOSA Morning Freshness reed diffuser, Malabar lemon and mint, Rs 749
The size decision, before the scent decision
50ml or 130ml is a room question, not a budget question
The 50ml from ₹749 suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or anybody receiving their first diffuser. The 130ml from ₹1,249 suits an open-plan living and dining area or a large 3BHK living room, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom - a bigger bottle in the wrong room gets moved into a corridor. All five scents run about 6 to 10 weeks either way.

Work it out in this order
One method for all three cities
  1. Get one fact: is the living and dining space one room, or two?
  2. One open room: 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349, in any of the three cities.
  3. Closed rooms: 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849, in any of the three cities.
  4. No fact available: a duo set from Rs 1,498, which cannot be over-sized.
The SOSA principle
City pages usually sell you a city. The only thing worth knowing about a city for this decision is the shape of its rooms, and even that is just a guess you should drop the moment somebody sends you a photograph of the hall.
A floor plan beats a pin code every time, and one message usually gets you the floor plan.

Scent by room type rather than by city

Scent is decided by how well you know the household, not by geography, and the five behave the same way in all three cities. Morning Freshness at ₹749 in 50ml and ₹1,249 in 130ml is Malabar lemon and mint, the least declarative of the range and the default for a home you have never stood in. Garden Bloom at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is British rose and night-blooming jasmine, the one that most reads as a present rather than as household supply. Evening Calm at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is lavender and chamomile - the name on the bottle and a description of the two materials, not a claim about what it does. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 and ₹1,349 is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, dry and green, and the easiest to live with in a room that stays shut, which makes it a sensible pick for an air-conditioned Hyderabad bedroom or a Mysuru study. Fresh Brew at ₹849 and ₹1,349 is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, the strongest opinion in the range and the one to keep for a household whose taste you know.

The SOSA gift edit
Four room types across the three cities
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
An open living and dining hall · 130ml ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 Newer gated developments in Bengaluru, newer western-corridor towers in Hyderabad, newer outskirts flats in Mysuru. One connected volume of air, one larger bottle, about 6 to 10 weeks. It fails the moment it is carried into a closed room, in any of the three.
A closed bedroom or study · 50ml ₹749 to ₹849 The same answer in all three cities, and the most common room a gift actually goes into. Especially true of shut air-conditioned Hyderabad rooms and of Mysuru houses built as separate rooms. It fails only in a large open hall, where it is under-powered rather than wrong.
A house of several separate rooms · duo set ₹1,498 to ₹1,598 Most common in Mysuru and in older central Bengaluru and old-city Hyderabad homes. Two 50ml bottles cover two rooms, which beats one larger bottle standing in one of them. It fails as a spend only where the home really is a single open space.
A room nobody can describe to you · duo set ₹1,498 to ₹1,598 The safe purchase when the invitation is an address and nothing more. Two 50ml bottles cannot be over-sized for any layout in any of the three cities. It fails only if you wanted the gift to look casual, because a boxed set is visibly an occasion.

When it has to look like an occasion
A duo set is the readymade gift box, without anybody assembling a hamper
Two 50ml reeds in one box: Day & Night pairs Morning Freshness lemon-mint with Evening Calm lavender-chamomile at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded pairs lemon-mint with Mountain Breeze pine and cedar at ₹1,548, and Warmth & Bloom pairs Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla with Garden Bloom rose-jasmine at ₹1,598. The 130ml x 2 versions are ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598.

Two things to keep straight when a gift is going to any of these three cities. First, location: SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India, and there is no SOSA shop, showroom, counter, franchise or warehouse in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysuru or anywhere else - so a gift is sent to an address rather than collected, and since SOSA publishes nothing about timing or charges, this page states nothing about either. Second, continuity: four of the five scents publish refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, while Evening Calm publishes no refill - worth weighing against Garden Bloom at the same ₹799 if you want the gift to be continuable.

SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for the car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the whole home
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. Vaayu is the machine version of the same idea for a building: waterless cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Both run waterless nebuliser oil - 100 gm ₹1,049, 300 gm ₹1,849 - and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so a Vaayu suits a large open home or a business and is the wrong gift for a two-bedroom flat with every door closed. It adds a scent to a space; it does not remove one.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

The SOSA gifting range
Pick the size by the room, then the scent by how little you know about them
Gift What it is Who it suits Price
SOSA reed diffusers 50ml The standard gift size Five scents, about 6 to 10 weeks, nothing to plug in or switch off - right for a bedroom, a study or a first diffuser from ₹749
SOSA reed diffusers 130ml The large-room size The same five scents in the bigger bottle - for an open-plan living area or a 3BHK, and too much for a small closed room from ₹1,249
SOSA reed duo gift sets Two reeds in one box Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 - the readymade housewarming and client gift from ₹1,498
SOSA reed refills 300ml and 500ml So a gifted diffuser does not become a dead bottle - published for four of the five scents ₹2,399 / ₹3,499
SOSA scented candles Hand-poured, small batches ₹399 for about 15 to 18 hours - the smaller home gift, and the one that needs a flame from ₹399
SOSA attars Alcohol-free roll-on oil The worn alternative, and a taste decision - only when you can name what they already wear from ₹379
SOSA Vaayu Waterless cold-air machine Approx 1000 m3 of connected air with a Bluetooth app and timer - a large open home or a business, not a flat ₹11,999

Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 - run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What SOSA publishes, and what SOSA does not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a gifting page should state.
  • Attars - Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179 and Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199 in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The Attar Trio is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 or ₹3,189.
  • Reed diffusers - Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹849 in 50ml; 130ml from ₹1,249. They last about 6 to 10 weeks. Duo sets from ₹1,498.
  • Car fragrance - nine scents from ₹449 to ₹549, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price, with 50ml sprays at ₹1,499 and saver combos at ₹899 to ₹949. Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.
  • Candles and wax melts - Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks at ₹399 for approximately 15 to 18 hours, or ₹699 for a two-candle duo at approximately 30 to 36 hours. Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla ₹999. Bubble Candles ₹499 unscented and ₹599 scented. Wax melts from ₹499, which need a ceramic burner at ₹599 - so they are only a complete gift for somebody who already owns one.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long any fragrance will be liked, delivery or dispatch timing, any festive discount, any minimum order quantity or bulk rate, and any claim about what a person will feel on receiving a gift. Those questions go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The reed diffuser is the product people are least embarrassed to give and most surprised by afterwards. What they expect is a decorative object. What it actually is, is a small piece of a household that runs for six to ten weeks and then ends, which is a very different thing from an ornament somebody has to keep forever out of politeness.

The reason I recommend it so often for gifting is unromantic: you are buying for a room rather than for a person. Personal fragrance is a taste decision, and when you cannot finish the sentence she usually wears something with..., no amount of money makes the guess better. A room does not have a signature scent it is loyal to. That is why a reed diffuser works for a colleague, a client, a mother-in-law and a friend's new flat - relationships where you may like somebody very much and still have no idea what is on their dressing table.

The one thing I would press on is size, because it is where good intentions go wrong. The 130ml is not the better gift, it is the bigger room's gift. Put it in a small closed bedroom and the person will move it to a corridor within a week. A 50ml at ₹749 in the right room beats a 130ml at ₹1,249 in the wrong one every single time, and if you want to spend more, spend it on the duo set so they get two rooms rather than one very loud one.

Frequently asked questions

Does the city change which size reed diffuser I should give?
Not really. An open-plan living and dining hall is a 130ml room at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mysuru alike, and a closed bedroom or separate sitting room is a 50ml room at Rs 749 to Rs 849 in all three. The cities differ only in how common each layout is, which matters when you cannot get the layout described to you.
How do the three cities differ for this decision?
Bengaluru mixes a large amount of newer open-plan gated-development supply with older closed-room flats and houses in its central and southern parts. Hyderabad concentrates its newer large open halls in the western corridor, and homes across the city are run shut with air conditioning for much of the hot dry year. Mysuru has proportionally more independent houses and older low-rise homes, so separate closed rooms are the common case there.
What should I buy if I have never seen the home?
A duo set of two 50ml bottles at Rs 1,498 to Rs 1,598. A 50ml is never too big for any room, so two of them cover two rooms without the risk you take when you guess a 130ml. It is the one purchase in the range that cannot be the wrong size.
Does SOSA have a store in Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Mysuru?
No. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India. There is no SOSA shop, showroom, counter, franchise or warehouse in any of those three cities or anywhere else, so a gift is sent to the address. SOSA publishes nothing about timing or charges, so none of that is stated here.
Does a hot or humid climate change how long a reed diffuser lasts?
SOSA publishes one duration figure, about 6 to 10 weeks, and publishes nothing about climate changing it, so no such claim is made. What climate does change is how a home is used: rooms shut with air conditioning running, or windows open with air crossing the house, and that is a real input into the size decision.

About SOSA's location: SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, and sends orders across India. SOSA has no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysuru or any other city, and nothing on this page should be read as claiming one; where a city is named, it refers to the homes and the buyers in that city and nothing more. No delivery date, dispatch time or order cut-off is stated anywhere. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent and does not remove, neutralise or purify odour, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial, air-purifying or wellbeing claim. No claim is made about how any recipient will feel about a gift. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep, comfort or wellbeing: fragrance is a scent, not a treatment, and where a product name contains a word such as Calm that is a name and not an effect. Where this guide covers sending something to a person having a difficult time, it treats a gift as a gesture of attention alongside real support and never as a substitute for a person or for professional help, and it gives no mental-health advice. No delivery date, dispatch time, order cut-off, discount or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page; corporate and bulk enquiries are answered on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand; the SOSA perfumes are SOSA's own compositions and are not the designer fragrances they are described as being inspired by.
