Founder Diaries · Thinking-of-You & Cheer-Up Fragrance Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 8 min read Updated September 2026
The straight answer first, because stretching it would waste your time: nothing in the SOSA range works as a standalone gift under ₹300. There is one product at ₹299 and it is fuel for a machine the recipient probably does not own, which makes it a component rather than a present. The constraint you actually have is a small budget and somebody having a hard week, and the useful thing this page can do is tell you where the real floor sits - ₹379 - and what costs nothing at all and does more.
SOSA Adaa attar, 3ml alcohol-free roll-on, Rs 379
SOSA Adaa attar · alcohol-free, 3ml roll-on ₹379 →
The actual bottom of the range, once components are excluded. SOSA Adaa, ₹379 for 3ml - alcohol-free oil in bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk. It leads this page because it is the cheapest thing here that a person can open and use the same evening with nothing else bought, which is the whole test this page is built on.
Quick answers — read this first
Is there a cheer-up gift under Rs 300? Not a standalone one from SOSA. The Hotel Collection 15ml at ₹299 is water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic machine - a Boond at ₹899, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 or a Megh at ₹5,999. Without one of those it cannot be used at all.

What about wax melts at Rs 499? They are over ₹300 anyway, and they have the same problem: wax melts need a burner, and the ceramic one is ₹599. As a pair that is ₹1,098, which is a different conversation entirely. Melts alone are only a gift for somebody who already owns a burner.

So what is the cheapest real gift? A 3ml attar at ₹379 or a hand-poured candle at ₹399. Those are the two cheapest things in the range that a person can open and use immediately with nothing else. The gap between ₹300 and ₹379 is small, and it is the difference between a component and a gift.
The short answer
Short answer: There is no standalone SOSA gift under Rs 300. The Rs 299 Hotel Collection 15ml is water-based fuel for an ultrasonic machine and is useless without one. The cheapest real gifts are a 3ml attar at Rs 379 and a candle at Rs 399, and a message costs nothing and does more than either.
The pick: A 3ml attar at ₹379 or a candle at ₹399 - the two cheapest things here that work on their own.
Why: Both can be opened and used immediately with nothing else bought, which is the minimum requirement for something to be a gift rather than a part.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
What cheer-up gift can I send for under Rs 300?
None, and the reason is worth knowing rather than working around. The only SOSA product below ₹300 is the Hotel Collection 15ml at ₹299, which is water-based fragrance oil for an ultrasonic diffuser. It goes into a Boond at ₹899, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 or a Megh at ₹5,999, and it goes into nothing else - not a reed diffuser, not a Vaayu, not a Safar, which take waterless nebuliser oil instead. Send it to somebody without one of those three machines and you have sent them a bottle they cannot open to any purpose. Wax melts at ₹499 fail the same test and are over the band in any case: they need a ceramic burner at ₹599. So the honest floor is ₹379 for a 3ml attar and ₹399 for a hand-poured candle at about 15 to 18 hours of burn time. If ₹379 is genuinely out of reach right now, the thing to send is a message - it costs nothing, and for somebody having a hard week two plain sentences naming what they are dealing with does more than any object on this page. A parcel sits alongside ringing them and never instead of it, and where the difficulty is more than a hard week the person who helps may need to be a professional. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A product is only a gift if the person can use it the moment they open it. By that test the ₹299 bottle is not a gift - it is a refill for a machine somebody else already bought.
The real floor: a 3ml attar at ₹379 or a candle at ₹399. Below that there is nothing, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
SOSA attars from ₹379

Why the sub-300 band does not contain a gift, and what to do about it

Price-banded gift lists are written backwards - somebody picks a number and then finds products to fill it. This page does it the other way, which means being clear about what disqualifies a product first.

1
The first variable
A component is not a gift, however good the price looks
The test is simple: can the person open it and use it that evening, with nothing else bought? The ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml fails it outright. It is water-based diffuser fragrance, designed to be dropped into the water tank of an ultrasonic machine, and without a Boond, a Sukoon or a Megh in the house there is nothing to do with it. It is also not interchangeable with anything else in the range - reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and Vaayu and Safar use waterless nebuliser oil at ₹1,049 and ₹1,849. Three different fluids, none of them swappable.

Wax melts at ₹499 have the identical flaw - they are wax, and wax needs a burner, which is ₹599 in ceramic. A gift that arrives requiring a second purchase puts the recipient in the position of having to spend money to use your present, which on a difficult week is close to the opposite of what you intended.
Tip: If it needs something else bought to work, it is a part, not a present.
2
The second variable
The real floor is ₹379, and the gap is smaller than it looks
The two cheapest complete gifts SOSA sells are a 3ml attar at ₹379 - Adaa ₹379, Ameeri ₹385, Mastani ₹389, Nawaab ₹399 - and a hand-poured candle at ₹399 in Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings or Evening Walks, running about 15 to 18 hours. Both are complete. Nothing else is required, nothing has to be assembled, nothing has to be owned already.

The distance from ₹300 to ₹379 is seventy-nine rupees and it buys you the difference between something usable and something that is not. After that the next steps up are car hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹429, which are again only useful to somebody who already owns the hanging bottle, and then car fragrance proper from ₹449, which is complete. Do not stretch a product to fit a band. Move the band by eighty rupees instead, or send nothing and write instead.
3
The third variable
The thing that costs nothing is also the thing that does more
This has to be said on a page about a tight budget, because it is true and because the alternative is watching somebody spend ₹299 on a bottle that cannot be used. A message costs nothing. Two plain sentences, sent to somebody having a bad week, that name the actual thing rather than writing around it and ask nothing back - that does more than any object in this range, at any price, and it is not a consolation prize for people with small budgets.

SOSA encloses no printed card and has no note-with-the-order service, so even when you do send something, the words are yours to send separately. Which means the object was never carrying the message in the first place. It is a signal that the message is coming, and if it is the message alone, that is not a lesser version of the gesture. A fragrance is a scent - it will not change how anybody's week went, and it is not help. Where somebody is in real difficulty, what is needed is a person, sometimes a professional one.
Tip: If the budget is tight, send the sentence. It was always the part that mattered.
SOSA Cozy Corner scented candle, Rs 399
The smallest thing that still reads as a gift
A candle at ₹399 asks nothing of the person receiving it
Hand-poured in small batches. Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks are ₹399 each at about 15 to 18 hours of burn time, and ₹699 for a two-candle duo at about 30 to 36 hours. The Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla are ₹999. A candle is a scent and an object to light - it is not a treatment and it will not change how a week went.
See the SOSA candles →
Work it out in this order
What to do if your budget is under Rs 300
  1. Rule out the Rs 299 bottle: it is machine fuel and needs a diffuser to work.
  2. Rule out wax melts at Rs 499 too - they need a Rs 599 burner.
  3. Move the band to Rs 379 for an attar or Rs 399 for a candle, or stop.
  4. Send the message either way. It costs nothing and it does more.
The SOSA principle
A gift list with a price ceiling will always be tempted to include something that technically costs less than the number. The useful version says plainly when the band is empty.
Below Rs 379 this one is empty, and the honest move is to say so rather than to sell you a refill.

The two cheapest things that genuinely work on their own

For completeness, here is exactly what sits at and around the bottom of the SOSA range and what each thing actually requires. The Hotel Collection 15ml at ₹299 is water-based and needs an ultrasonic machine - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999. The 3ml attars at ₹379 to ₹399 are complete: alcohol-free oil, rolled on rather than sprayed, in Adaa's bergamot and jasmine sambac, Ameeri's Taif rose and sandalwood, Mastani's night jasmine and damask rose, or Nawaab's white oud and Mysore sandalwood. The candles at ₹399 are complete: hand-poured in small batches, about 15 to 18 hours, or ₹699 for a two-candle duo at about 30 to 36 hours. Car hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹429 are a component, useful only to somebody who owns the bottle; car fragrance from ₹449 is complete. Wax melts at ₹499 need the ₹599 ceramic burner. The 50ml reed diffusers from ₹749 are complete and need nothing at all.

The SOSA gift edit
What Rs 299, Rs 379, Rs 399 and Rs 0 actually get you
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
The ₹299 bottle · not a gift Hotel Collection 15ml, water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic diffuser. The cheapest thing SOSA sells and the reason this price band looks like it has an answer in it. Where it fails: the recipient needs a Boond at ₹899, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 or a Megh at ₹5,999 to use it, and it will not go into a reed diffuser, a Vaayu or a Safar. Send it only to somebody who already owns the machine.
A 3ml attar · ₹379 to ₹399 The cheapest complete gift in the range. Alcohol-free concentrated oil rolled onto the pulse points, small enough to be received without anybody performing gratitude. Where it fails: it is a worn fragrance, so it needs you to have some idea what the person likes. If you have none, spend the same money on a candle instead.
A single candle · ₹399 Hand-poured, about 15 to 18 hours, bought for a room rather than a person, so it needs no knowledge of their taste. Twenty rupees above the attar and the more forgiving of the two. Where it fails: a home where a flame is not practical - and the substitute there is a reed diffuser from ₹749, not wax melts, which need a burner.
A message · ₹0 Two plain sentences that name what the person is actually dealing with and ask nothing back. Costs nothing, is available right now, and does more for somebody having a hard week than anything above it in this table. Where it fails: nowhere, which is why it belongs at the bottom of a price list rather than as a consolation for having no money.
SOSA Morning Freshness reed diffuser, Malabar lemon and mint, Rs 749
The gift that asks for nothing at all
A reed diffuser needs no flame, no socket and nothing remembered
Five scents in 50ml from ₹749 and 130ml from ₹1,249, running about 6 to 10 weeks. Morning Freshness is Malabar lemon and mint, Garden Bloom is British rose and night jasmine, Mountain Breeze is pine, sage and cedar, Fresh Brew is Coorg coffee and vanilla. Evening Calm is lavender and chamomile - that is the name on the bottle and a description of what it smells of, not a claim about what it does.
See the reed diffusers →

If you take one thing from this page, take the test rather than the products. Ask whether the person can use it the evening it arrives, with nothing else bought. That single question removes the ₹299 bottle, the ₹499 wax melts, the ₹399 car refills and every machine accessory in any brand's range, and it leaves you with a very short list of things that are actually gifts. Then keep the size small on purpose - the ₹379 attar or the ₹399 candle is not a downgrade from the ₹1,055 trio, it is the right register for something sent to a person who is tired. And send the words separately, because the object was never going to carry them.

SOSA Bookshop scented candle, hand-poured, Rs 399
Hand-poured in small batches, about 15 to 18 hours of burn time, or about 30 to 36 hours in the two-candle duo. The smallest gift here that still looks like a gift.
₹399 · duo ₹699
SOSA Adaa attar, bergamot and jasmine sambac, from Rs 379
Alcohol-free oil rolled onto the pulse points rather than sprayed. Adaa, Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml - and the 3ml is the right one here.
from ₹379 · 3ml
SOSA Morning Freshness reed diffuser, Malabar lemon and mint, Rs 749
Malabar lemon and mint, 50ml, about 6 to 10 weeks. Nothing to plug in, switch off or remember - which matters when somebody has nothing spare to give a new object.
₹749 · 50ml
When the gift is meant to be the big one
SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for the car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the whole home
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. Vaayu is the machine version of the same idea for a building: waterless cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Both run waterless nebuliser oil - 100 gm ₹1,049, 300 gm ₹1,849 - and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so a Vaayu suits a large open home or a business and is the wrong gift for a two-bedroom flat with every door closed. It adds a scent to a space; it does not remove one.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every one of these, and neither is about price. First: how much energy does this ask of them? A candle is lit and that is the whole interaction; a reed diffuser asks nothing at all; a machine asks to be filled, plugged in and remembered, which is the wrong thing to hand somebody who is already running on empty. Second: can you name something they already like? If yes, an attar is accurate. If no, buy for the room instead, because a room has no opinion and a person does. Then keep the number low - on a hard week the size of a gift is a demand, not a kindness.

The SOSA gifting range
Pick by how small it can be while still being specific - in that order
Gift What it is Who it suits Price
SOSA scented candles Hand-poured, small batches Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks at about 15 to 18 hours of burn time; duos at about 30 to 36 hours from ₹399

SOSA reed diffusers Passive home fragrance Five scents in 50ml and 130ml, nothing to plug in or switch off, about 6 to 10 weeks from ₹749
SOSA Attar Trio Pack of three attars Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box - for when you cannot name a scent they wear from ₹1,055
SOSA wax melts Flameless, needs a burner Scented wax for a ceramic or electric burner - only for somebody who already owns one, or buy the burner too from ₹499
SOSA car fragrance Hanging or spray Nine scents, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price from ₹449
SOSA reed duo sets Two reeds in one box Day & Night, Fresh & Grounded and Warmth & Bloom - the larger home gift, for a real occasion from ₹1,498

Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 - run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The messages that stay with me are not the festive ones. They are the ones that start my friend is having an awful time and I do not know what to do. People write that at eleven at night, and what they are really asking is whether there is an object that will help. I have been doing this long enough to answer it honestly: there is not. A fragrance is a scent. It will not fix a week, it will not undo a rejection, and anybody selling it to you as comfort is selling you something else.

What a small parcel does do is carry one piece of information, and it is not a small one: I was thinking about you on a day when nothing made me. No birthday, no festival, nothing on a calendar. Somebody stopped in the middle of their own week and thought about yours. That is worth sending, and it is the entire reason this category exists.

So the practical advice runs the other way from what people expect. Go smaller. A large gift arrives at somebody who is already short of energy and asks them to produce a reaction - gratitude, surprise, a phone call they have to be bright on. A ₹399 candle or a ₹379 attar asks for none of that. And send the words yourself, separately: we put no printed card in the parcel, and even if we did, a sentence from you naming the actual thing they are dealing with does more than anything we could print. If you are choosing between the bigger gift and making the call, make the call. The gift goes alongside that, never instead of it.

Frequently asked questions

Does SOSA have any gift under Rs 300?
No standalone one. The Hotel Collection 15ml at Rs 299 is water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic diffuser and needs a Boond at Rs 899, a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Megh at Rs 5,999 to be used at all. It is a refill rather than a present, unless the person already owns one of those machines.
Why can I not use the Rs 299 bottle in a reed diffuser?
Because three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The ultrasonic machines use the water-based Hotel Collection. The Vaayu and the Safar use waterless nebuliser oil at Rs 1,049 and Rs 1,849. Putting the wrong one in the wrong device does not work.
Are wax melts a cheap gift?
Not on their own. They are Rs 499, which is already above Rs 300, and they need a burner - the ceramic one is Rs 599. Together that is close to Rs 1,100, which is a different budget. Wax melts alone are a good gift only for somebody you know already owns a burner.
What is the cheapest real cheer-up gift?
A 3ml attar at Rs 379 or a hand-poured candle at Rs 399 which burns about 15 to 18 hours. Both can be opened and used straight away. Car fragrance from Rs 449 is the next complete option if the person drives daily.
What if I genuinely cannot spend Rs 379?
Then send a message and nothing else, and do not treat that as a lesser gesture. Two plain sentences naming what somebody is actually dealing with, sent with no expectation of a reply, does more than any object here. SOSA encloses no printed card in any case, so the words were always going to be yours to send.

Skip the ₹299 bottle unless they already own an ultrasonic machine, and skip wax melts unless they own a burner. Then write two plain sentences and send them separately - SOSA encloses no printed card, and that part never cost anything anyway.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep, comfort or wellbeing: fragrance is a scent, not a treatment, and where a product name contains a word such as Calm that is a name and not an effect. Where this guide covers sending something to a person having a difficult time, it treats a gift as a gesture of attention alongside real support and never as a substitute for a person or for professional help, and it gives no mental-health advice. No delivery date, dispatch time, order cut-off, discount or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page; corporate and bulk enquiries are answered on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand; the SOSA perfumes are SOSA's own compositions and are not the designer fragrances they are described as being inspired by. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
