This is the size where the numbers start to look alarming and almost always are not. Three thousand square feet converts to about 850 cubic metres, which sits close enough to a machine's rating that people assume they need two. They almost never do, because 850 describes a house with no internal walls, and your house has twelve of them. This page is about the difference between those two numbers, carefully.
Quick answers — read this first
What size scent machine does a 3,000 sq ft villa need? One, in almost every case. Convert first: 3,000 sq ft at a 10 ft ceiling is 30,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 850 cubic metres, close to the SOSA Vaayu's approximately 1000 cubic metres. But that figure describes one open shell. A 3,000 sq ft villa is typically ten to twelve rooms across one or two floors, and the genuinely connected part - entrance, living, dining, passage and stair void - is usually 1,100 to 1,500 sq ft, which at 10 ft is about 311 to 425 cubic metres. That is comfortably inside one Vaayu at Rs 11,999 with its four hotel-inspired blends included. The rooms behind doors take a reed from Rs 749 or a Boond at Rs 899 each.

Is 3,000 sq ft too big for one scent machine? Not for the part of it that shares air, which is the only part a machine can address. The honest framing is that a 3,000 sq ft villa is not one 850 cubic metre space at all - it is a connected living volume of roughly 311 to 425 cubic metres plus a set of sealed boxes with doors on them, and no machine at any price pushes fragrance through a closed bedroom door. One Vaayu at Rs 11,999 holds the connected volume with room to spare, which is what lets you run it gently. If you want every room scented regardless of doors and you have central air-conditioning, the answer is not two machines but the ducted Aangan at Rs 25,999.

How do I know if my 3,000 sq ft villa is connected or partitioned? Walk from your front door to your dining table and count the doors you had to open. Everything you passed through freely is your connected volume; everything else is a separate problem. Then measure just those spaces, multiply by ceiling height for cubic feet and divide by 35.3. A house where the entrance, living, dining and stair are one open run behaves close to its converted figure. A house where the ground floor is chopped into a formal drawing room, a family room and a separate dining, each with doors, is several small volumes and no single machine will unify it - in that case scent the room people actually use with a Megh at Rs 3,499, or duct the whole house with the Aangan at Rs 25,999.
The short answer
Short answer: 3,000 sq ft at a 10 ft ceiling is 30,000 cubic feet, about 850 cubic metres - but that assumes one open shell with no internal doors. A real 3,000 sq ft villa is a connected living volume of roughly 1,100 to 1,500 sq ft, about 311 to 425 cubic metres, plus sealed rooms. One SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999, approximately 1000 cubic metres, four hotel-inspired blends included) holds the connected part with room to spare; each shut room takes a reed from Rs 749 or a Boond Rs 899. For every room regardless of doors, the ducted Aangan Rs 25,999. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, four hotel-inspired blends included in the box) for the connected living volume of a villa; reeds from ₹749 for a single bedroom or bathroom; a single room done properly from ₹899; the Aangan (₹25,999) ducted into central air-conditioning for genuine whole-home coverage.

A villa is not one room, it is a set of connected volumes and a set of closed doors, and the two need different answers. Whole-home scenting means one fragrance held evenly across the part of the house you actually live in - the entrance, the living room, the dining - running on a schedule so it is already there when someone walks through your front door, and already there when you come home yourself. The bedrooms, the guest bathroom and the study get their own quiet solutions. Nobody in the house has to remember anything.
Straight answer
Is one machine enough for a 3,000 sq ft villa, and what does the 850 cubic metre figure really mean?
It means less than it looks like, and that is good news. 1. The conversion. Floor area x ceiling height = cubic feet, / 35.3 = cubic metres. At 10 ft, 3,000 sq ft is 30,000 cubic feet, about 850m³ - against a Vaayu rated at approximately 1000m³, that looks close. 2. What 850 actually describes. One open shell with no internal doors. Your house is not that. A 3,000 sq ft villa is typically ten to twelve rooms, and the part genuinely open to itself - entrance, living, dining, passage, stair void - is usually 1,100 to 1,500 sq ft, which is about 311 to 425m³. 3. So the answer is one machine. One Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless cold-air, Bluetooth app and timer, four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box - holds that with a wide margin, which is exactly what lets you run it gently rather than hard. 4. The height check. Ceilings change everything: 3,000 sq ft at 12 ft is 36,000 cubic feet, about 1,020m³ for the whole shell, and a 500 sq ft double-height hall at 20 ft is 10,000 cubic feet, about 283m³ on its own. Count height honestly. 5. The doors. Five or six shut rooms, a reed from ₹749 or a Boond ₹899 each - never a second machine. Every room regardless of doors, with central air-conditioning: the ducted Aangan ₹25,999. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: 3,000 sq ft is about 850m³ only as an empty shell - the connected volume you actually scent is nearer 311-425m³, so one Vaayu ₹11,999 with four blends in the box, plus a ₹749 reed per shut door. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The whole-home answer most villa owners land on: the SOSA Vaayu - waterless cold-air scenting to ~1000m³, Bluetooth app and timer, and four hotel-inspired blends included in the box - at ₹11,999. One bedroom or a guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749; a single room done properly from ₹899; central air-conditioning from ₹25,999. Connected volume versus partitioned volume, carefully

The gap between the two numbers, and what to do with each.

Why this works at home
Reading a 3,000 sq ft plan the way air reads it
13,000 sq ft at 10 ft is 30,000 cu ft, about 850 cubic metres as one shell2Real connected space is nearer 1,100-1,500 sq ft, about 311-425 cubic metres3One Vaayu Rs 11,999 holds that with margin - the margin is why it runs gently4Twelve-foot ceilings change it: 3,000 sq ft at 12 ft is about 1,020 cubic metres
The whole-home answer: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³, and it arrives with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. A single bedroom or guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749.
1
The gap
850 cubic metres is a shell, not a house
Everything on this page turns on one distinction. When you multiply 3,000 sq ft by a 10 ft ceiling and divide by 35.3 you get about 850m³, and that number is completely correct as a description of the air inside the walls. It is completely wrong as a description of what a machine is being asked to fill, because it silently assumes that all 850 cubic metres are one connected body of air that can circulate freely. A 3,000 sq ft Indian villa is nothing like that. It is typically an entrance, a living room, a dining, a kitchen with a door, a utility, four or five bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a study, a puja room and a guest toilet, spread over one or two floors. At nine at night most of those doors are shut. What remains open to itself is the run a guest walks: entrance, living, dining, the passage between them and the stair void, commonly 1,100 to 1,500 sq ft, which at 10 ft is 11,000 to 15,000 cubic feet, about 311 to 425m³. That is the honest load, and it is roughly a third to a half of the alarming figure.
Tip: 850 is the number for a house with no doors. Your number is the run a guest walks, and it is usually half of it.
2
The margin
Why the gap is worth more than extra machine would be
People instinctively want a machine that exactly matches their number, and at home that instinct is backwards. Coverage and intensity are separate settings, and a unit holding 311 to 425m³ while rated for approximately 1000m³ is doing easy work - which means it can run at a low setting, quietly and continuously, and still hold an even level from the front door to the far end of the dining. That is precisely the character you want in a house: a register that reads as atmosphere rather than as fragrance, that a guest notices as the house feeling welcoming rather than as something you have sprayed. Run a machine at the edge of its capability instead and you get the opposite: higher settings, a stronger scent near the unit, a household that goes nose-blind and creeps the level up, and eventually somebody at dinner with a headache. The margin at 3,000 sq ft is not wasted capacity. It is the headroom that makes gentle dosing possible, and gentle dosing is the entire discipline at home, especially in a house with children, elderly parents or anyone sensitive in it.
3
The honest exception
When 3,000 sq ft genuinely needs a different answer
Two situations at this size are not solved by one Vaayu, and it is worth naming both rather than pretending. The first is a heavily partitioned ground floor: a formal drawing room with doors, a separate family sitting room, a closed dining. That is not one connected volume at all, it is three small ones, and a machine standing in any of them serves only that one. The honest answer there is either to scent the room the family actually lives in with a Megh at ₹3,499 and give the others reeds, or to go ducted. The second is height. Ceilings at 12 ft take the whole shell to 36,000 cubic feet, about 1,020m³, and a 500 sq ft double-height hall at 20 ft is 10,000 cubic feet, about 283m³ on its own - so a tall, open 3,000 sq ft house can genuinely approach the rating on connected air alone. If your honest connected figure lands near or past 1,000m³, and you have central air-conditioning, the answer is the ducted Aangan at ₹25,999 rather than a second machine at ₹23,998 for the pair.
Tip: a partitioned ground floor and a very tall one are the two cases where the answer changes. Both are visible on your own floor plan.
The SOSA principle
A 3,000 sq ft villa is not one 850m³ space. It is a connected volume of about 311 to 425m³ and a set of sealed boxes with doors on them.
One machine on the first, one small object per door on the second, and the margin in between is what lets the whole thing run gently.

The SOSA home edit

Whatever the house looks like, the logic is the same: one scent, sized to the volume that is genuinely connected, running on a schedule so nobody in the family has to remember it. A single bedroom or a guest bathroom is happy on reeds with no power at all; the living room you actually live in wants a machine; the whole villa with central air-conditioning wants the ducts doing the work. Every SOSA system is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is where each one belongs.

Honest notes before you buy anything. Coverage ratings assume connected air volume. A machine cannot push scent through a closed bedroom door, and it never will - so a partitioned villa is not one scenting problem but several, and honest sizing means saying so out loud rather than selling you one machine and hoping. Scent the volume that is genuinely open to itself, then give the closed rooms their own quiet answer, usually a reed diffuser. Fragrance never substitutes for ventilation or cleaning. If a room smells damp, stale or of last night's cooking, open it, air it and clean it first; scent added on top of that only makes a more complicated bad smell. A home is not a lobby you pass through. Households include children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets, all of whom breathe this air far longer than any visitor does, which is why gentle dosing is the default at home and why the settings we suggest are lower than the machine can run. Anyone in the house reporting a headache is a recalibration signal, not a complaint to argue with - turn it down or turn it off, and tell us. The Vaayu runs waterless nebulising oil and comes with the four hotel-inspired blends; the Hotel Collection bottle is water-based and belongs in the ultrasonic machines only. The two formats are not interchangeable. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

There is a difference between a room that smells nice and a home that has a signature, and almost nobody is told what it is. A room that smells nice is an event: you light a candle, you spray something in the hallway before people arrive, it is lovely for forty minutes and then it is gone. Somewhere else in the house a bathroom gel is doing one thing, a kitchen spray another, and a bedroom reed a third. Four pleasant smells in four rooms is not a fragranced home. It is four rooms.

A signature is the opposite. It is one scent, sized to the house, running on a schedule - so it is already in the air when someone walks through your front door, and already there at eleven at night when you come home yourself, and nobody has lifted a finger to make it happen. That is the whole trick the great hotels use, and it is not complicated: they do not chase smells room by room, they hold one fragrance across the volume people actually move through. In a villa that usually means the entrance, the living room and the dining as one connected space, with the closed rooms handled separately and quietly.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and I have sized this for houses across India, and I would rather tell you honestly that your layout needs two answers than sell you one machine that disappoints you. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with your home's approximate size, the number of floors and a line about the layout - open plan, closed rooms, central air-conditioning or split units - and we will give you a free sizing recommendation. I read those descriptions myself. Everything is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your home gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy two machines for a 3,000 sq ft villa?
Almost certainly not, and the reason is that a second machine does not solve the problem people buy it for. The gap in a 3,000 sq ft house is never the connected volume, which one Vaayu holds with margin at Rs 11,999; the gap is the rooms behind closed doors, and a second machine standing in the same connected volume does nothing for those. If the second unit goes inside a bedroom it is a very expensive way to scent one room that a Rs 749 reed or a Rs 899 Boond would serve better and silently. And the arithmetic argues against it directly: two Vaayus is Rs 23,998, while the ducted Aangan at Rs 25,999 genuinely reaches every room your central air-conditioning serves, approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft. If your honest connected figure has outgrown one machine, skip the second and look at the ducted route.
How do I actually measure my connected volume rather than guess it?
With a tape and five minutes. Walk the route a guest takes from the front door and note every door you had to open. Measure the floor area of just the spaces you passed through freely - entrance, living, dining, passage, the stair footprint, the upstairs landing if it is open to the void. Add them up, multiply by your ceiling height in feet, and divide by 35.3. A worked example for a 3,000 sq ft house: entrance 140 plus living 480 plus dining 300 plus passage 120 is 1,040 sq ft, at a 10 ft ceiling that is 10,400 cubic feet, about 295 cubic metres; add a 160 sq ft open landing at 10 ft, 1,600 cubic feet or about 45 cubic metres, and you are at about 340 cubic metres. If any of it is double height, count that portion at its real height instead.
My 3,000 sq ft is a bungalow with everything on one floor. Better or worse?
Usually better, and for a specific reason: a single-floor plan has no vertical loss. In a two-floor villa some of what you release rises through the stair void and does useful work upstairs, but it also thins what stays down, and the upstairs landing is a volume you may not have counted. On one floor, the connected run - entrance, living, dining, passage - is the whole job, and the ceiling height is usually consistent, so the arithmetic is simpler and the result is more even. The thing to watch instead is length. A single-floor 3,000 sq ft plan can be very long, with bedrooms strung off a corridor, so site the unit along the route people walk rather than at one end, and treat the corridor as connected only if it genuinely has no doors closing it off.
Will one machine reach the first floor of a 3,000 sq ft villa?
The landing, yes, if the stair void is open; the bedrooms, no. A stair void behaves like a chimney because warm air rises through it, so a unit placed low in the connected ground-floor volume near the base of the stairs carries its register upward on its own and the landing picks it up at a gentler level, which is usually welcome rather than a problem. What does not happen is fragrance getting under a closed bedroom door on that landing, and nothing changes that at any price. So the pattern for a two-floor 3,000 sq ft house is a Vaayu downstairs in the connected volume, the stair doing the vertical work for free, and a reed from Rs 749 in each upstairs bedroom and guest bathroom. If you want the upstairs rooms scented regardless of doors, that is the ducted Aangan at Rs 25,999.
Is a 3,000 sq ft villa with 12 ft ceilings still a one-machine house?
Usually yes, because the shut doors save you more than the height costs you. Run the numbers: 3,000 sq ft at 12 ft is 36,000 cubic feet, about 1,020 cubic metres for the whole shell, which is past the rating - but you never scent the whole shell. If your connected run is 1,200 sq ft of that, at 12 ft it is 14,400 cubic feet, about 408 cubic metres, still comfortably inside one Vaayu at Rs 11,999. Where it changes is a big double-height feature: 500 sq ft of hall at 20 ft is 10,000 cubic feet, about 283 cubic metres by itself, and if that sits on top of an already large connected run you can approach the rating. Measure your own connected space at its real heights, and if the total lands near 1,000, talk to us before buying rather than after.

Facts verified August 2026: The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine covering approximately 1000m³, with Bluetooth app and timer scheduling. It ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends included in the box, chosen as one of three bundles at purchase: Bundle A - Ritz-Carlton Inspired, Westin Inspired, St. Regis Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired; Bundle B - Westin Inspired, Shangri-La Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired, Ritz-Carlton Inspired; Bundle C - St. Regis Inspired, W Hotels Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired. Format distinction: the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil, while the separate SOSA Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml ₹299) is water-based and runs in the ultrasonic machines only - Boond (₹899), Sukoon (₹1,899) and Megh (₹3,499). The two fragrance formats are not interchangeable, and the Hotel Collection bottle does not go into a Vaayu. SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively, ducted into central air-conditioning. Reed diffusers need no power and make no noise: Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799, Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849; 130ml from ₹1,249; duo sets ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598. Scent perception is personal and varies between people in the same room, and coverage figures assume connected air volume rather than a partitioned floor plan. Ventilation, cleaning and air-conditioning come first; fragrance is an addition to a well-kept home and never a substitute for any of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any hotel brand. Made in India, cruelty-free and vegan. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Ongoing fragrance supply is arranged with SOSA on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531.
