Most setup guides stop at a number. This one is a shopping list — the machines, where each stands, what goes in the tank and what the whole thing costs, written as though I were furnishing the flat myself. A 2BHK is roughly 700–1,100 sq ft split across a living/dining area, a master bedroom, a second bedroom and a passage, and the kit that works is smaller than the flat plan suggests, because two of those spaces do not earn a machine.

Why this kit, and not a bigger one

The instinct in a 2BHK is to buy one machine per door, and the instinct is half right. Doors do define the problem — a shut bedroom door stops fragrance almost completely, so each closed room is genuinely its own job. But defining the problem is not the same as solving all of it. A kit is a set of rooms you have decided to keep scented, and every room you add is a running cost as well as a purchase — another tank to fill, another bottle to get through, another machine to remember. Two machines is a habit most people sustain. Three is where it starts feeling like maintenance, and the third machine is nearly always the one in the room with the exercise bike.

The other reason the kit stays small is that the living/dining area in a 2BHK is usually one air space, not two. Indian 2BHKs from the last fifteen years are built with the dining opening off the living room and, more often now, the kitchen opening off the dining. That whole run behaves as a single body of air, which means a single Sukoon handles it, provided you place the machine towards the seating rather than at the junction. People look at 450 sq ft of connected public space and assume it needs two units; it does not, and two units in one open space produce a strong end and a normal end rather than better coverage. The place to spend a second ₹1,899 is behind a door, never on the same side of one.

Sideboard, dresser, and never the corridor
In the living/dining area, put the Sukoon on a sideboard, console or low bookshelf about a metre up, on the seating side of the room and as far from the passage mouth as the layout allows. Scent that reaches the corridor is scent you have paid for and lost. In the master, choose the chest of drawers or dresser across from the bed rather than the nightstand — you want the room scented when you walk into it, not a mist plume a foot from your face. In an open-kitchen flat, maximise the distance between the machine and the hob, and accept that during cooking the kitchen wins. Keep every machine clear of the ceiling fan and split AC line, with a foot of open air around it.

The SOSA principle
Two machines is a kit you will still be running in a year. Three is where it turns into maintenance — unless all three rooms are slept in.
Every machine you add is another tank to fill and another bottle to finish. Buy for the rooms you will keep up with, not the rooms on the floor plan.

Placement, drops and running the kit

The living room machine does the heaviest work, so give it the best position in the room: about a metre off the floor on a sideboard or console, on the seating side, at least a couple of feet clear of walls and curtains so the mist disperses instead of condensing. Keep it out of the direct path of the ceiling fan and the split AC — moving air does not distribute fragrance, it pushes it into one corner and holds it there. Four to five drops per tank suits a 2BHK living room; if you can smell it strongly standing next to it and not at all from the sofa, that is a placement problem rather than a dose problem.

The bedroom machine wants restraint. Three drops rather than five, positioned across the room from the bedhead, and run on the 2H timer in the hour before you sleep rather than left going all night. The Sukoon will do 16–18 hours on low, which is genuinely useful in a living room and mostly a trap in a bedroom: your nose adapts within twenty minutes, so all overnight running does is empty the bottle and over-scent the room for anyone who walks in the next morning. If the master shares a wall with a bathroom, keep the machine on the far side of the room from that wall.

Across the kit, three habits keep it working. Rinse the tank when you change scents, because a muddied blend in one room undoes the point of running a coherent palette in the flat. Use filtered water if you are in a hard-water city so the misting plate stays clean, and never substitute raw essential or carrier oils — they are too thick to atomise and will foul the machine. And run the two units on different schedules rather than both continuously: living room in the evening, bedroom for an hour before sleep. Honest notes before you buy: the arithmetic above is complete — there are no consumables you need on day one, because six 15ml bottles arrive with the two Sukoons. If someone handed me the keys to a 900 sq ft 2BHK tomorrow, this is precisely what I would order: two Sukoons, one signature scent, and nothing for the passage. The kit is the easy part. What takes discipline is not adding to it.

The mistake I see most in this flat size is not under-buying, it is buying in the wrong order — three machines on day one, all three tanks filled with three different scents, and a flat that smells like a department store aisle by week two. Fragrance across rooms is a composition, not a collection. One idea, stated clearly in the living room and stated more quietly behind the bedroom door, does more for a home than three unrelated good scents fighting through a doorway.

So: buy the two machines, buy one 300ml bottle when you know which scent you have settled on, and leave the second bedroom alone until it tells you otherwise.
