Same scent, same strength. A refill is the same formula as the bottle. Buying 300ml of a quiet composition buys you months of quiet.
The order to buy in: test the stronger scent as a 50ml bottle first (₹749–₹849, six fresh reeds included), then buy the ₹2,399 refill of it once you know. ₹849 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,248 for 350ml.
Why not just refill straight into a new scent: old reeds carry the old composition and will ghost through it. Reeds are not sold separately — they come with bottles.
2. Understand what you are not buying. A refill of the composition you already run is the same formula at the same strength. There is no concentrated version. If your current bottle was too quiet, 300ml of it will be quiet for the better part of a year.
3. Spend the free levers before the money. Flip all six reeds; move the bottle into gentle passing air near a doorway at waist-to-chest height, away from AC vents and out of direct sun; close the room for an hour and walk back in. A great many "weak" bottles are stalled reeds or dead air, and both fixes are free.
4. Test the stronger scent as a bottle before you commit to a refill. A 50ml at ₹849 gives you six to eight weeks and six fresh fibre reeds — and you need those reeds, because the old set carries the old composition and will ghost through a new one. Then buy the refill: ₹849 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,248 for 350ml of a scent you have actually lived with.
5. Do not buy the 500ml as a strength upgrade. It is the same oil as the 300ml, priced better per millilitre — about ₹7 against about ₹8. It buys months, not volume.
6. Know the ceiling and the gaps. Past roughly 250–300 sq ft of connected open space, or if what you want is scent on demand, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the honest answer rather than a third bottle. And if "stronger" means oud, musk or an aquatic, we do not make one — I would rather say so than sell you the nearest thing.

Part one — why more oil is not more fragrance
This is the most expensive misunderstanding in the refill aisle, and it is entirely understandable: in almost every other category, buying the big one gets you more of the thing. Here it does not, because the rate at which a reed diffuser delivers fragrance has nothing to do with how much oil is standing beneath the reeds. Six reeds wick at the rate six reeds wick. A vessel holding 130ml and a vessel holding 50ml of the same composition, with the same six reeds in the same room, produce about the same room. The larger one simply keeps doing it for longer.
Mountain Breeze₹849 · 9.4/10We publish a strength figure for every reed composition because a note list tells you nothing about how loud something is in a room. Fresh Brew 9.5, Mountain Breeze 9.4, Morning Freshness 9.0, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm 8.9 — measured at six reeds, in an ordinary Indian room, on our own internal scale. It is not an industry standard, not a concentration and not a ranking of quality; a 9.5 is not better than an 8.9, it is louder, and loud is wrong for a nursery. When someone asks which refill is strongest, this is the whole answer: the refill inherits the number of the composition inside it, so choosing a refill for strength means choosing a scent for strength.Part two — the five refills, by number
All five compositions are available in both refill sizes at the same price, so this is purely a choice of character and loudness. The last column is the one people forget: whether the change you are making needs a fresh set of reeds to land properly.
| Refill composition | Strength at six reeds | What it changes in the room | Refill prices | Needs new reeds? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fresh Brew ★ | 9.5 · warm-deep | The fullest, most enveloping presence in the range | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml | Yes, if you are switching to it |
| Mountain Breeze | 9.4 · deep woody | Carries as far, dry and grounding, no sweetness at all | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml | Yes, if you are switching to it |
| Morning Freshness | 9.0 · bright | Cold and sharp — often reads louder than it measures | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml | Yes — and it shows residue worst of all |
| Garden Bloom | 8.9 · floral | Rounded and hotel-like; presence without insistence | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml | Yes, if you are switching to it |
| Evening Calm | 8.9 · softest | Deliberately quiet — never buy this one for strength | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml | Yes, if you are switching to it |
| The honest caveat: every row that says "yes" needs six fibre reeds we do not sell on their own. A refill is oil only — no vessel, no reeds — so a change of composition should begin with a 50ml bottle from ₹749, which brings the reeds with it. And if what you mean by stronger is oud, a musk-forward scent or an aquatic, none of these rows is your answer: the reed range has no oud, no musk and no aquatic, and stretching Mountain Breeze to stand in for oud would be a disservice to both of us. | ||||

Part three — the one thing a refill genuinely does for strength
There is a real connection between refills and a louder room, and it is not the one people expect. Reed count is the only true volume control on this format, and it costs bottle life roughly in proportion. Six reeds is the calibrated dose every composition is written for. Nine gives you an audibly fuller room and something nearer five weeks than eight on a 50ml; ten is about as far as the format goes and finishes a 50ml in roughly four to five weeks. That is a fair trade for a festive month or a week of guests, and an expensive one to keep up all year — which is precisely where the refill earns its place. At about ₹8 per millilitre (₹2,399 ÷ 300) instead of ₹15–₹17 for a fresh 50ml, running ten reeds stops being extravagant.
Do the arithmetic before you plan around it, because running hard shortens the refill too. A 300ml is six fills of a 50ml vessel; at the calibrated six reeds that is roughly 36 to 48 weeks, which is where the 8–11 months on the product page comes from. Push to ten reeds and each fill runs four to five weeks instead, so the same 300ml covers something closer to 24 to 30 weeks — six or seven months rather than eight to eleven. Nothing has gone wrong; you are simply spending the oil faster in exchange for a louder room. Knowing the exchange rate before you buy is the entire skill, and it is the reason I would rather publish reed-count arithmetic than let anyone conclude the refill underdelivered.
And then the ceiling, which I would rather name than let you find by spending. If you have flipped all six reeds, moved the bottle into passing air, run nine or ten reeds and moved up to a 9.5 composition, and the room still is not what you pictured, the format is the limit rather than the fragrance. That happens most often past roughly 250 to 300 square feet of connected open volume, and it happens whenever what you actually want is scent on demand — before guests arrive, after cooking, some evenings and not others. A reed diffuser cannot surge; it is constant, passive and deliberately low, and no refill changes that. The honest product at that point is the Sukoon at ₹1,899, covering 270–320 sq ft with a remote and timers, and it takes the water-based Hotel Collection rather than reed oil — the two are never interchangeable. Most homes end up running both formats, and that is not a failure of either.
Part four — the buying order, cheapest step first
Four situations, and the order I would work through them. Note that the first two columns cost nothing at all, and a good share of people never reach the fourth.
| What you are running now | Try this first — free | Then buy this | What changes | Spend |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evening Calm 8.9 in a living room ★ | Flip all six · move into passing air | Fresh Brew 50ml, then its refill | 8.9 to 9.5 — the largest jump available | ₹849, then ₹2,399 |
| Garden Bloom 8.9, want no sweetness | Add two reeds for a week and listen | Mountain Breeze 50ml, then its refill | Dry, woody projection at 9.4 | ₹849, then ₹2,399 |
| Already on Fresh Brew 9.5 and want more | Flip weekly, clear the shelf around the bottle | The same refill, run at nine or ten reeds | A fuller room; each fill lasts 4–5 weeks not 6–8 | ₹2,399 / 300ml · about ₹8 per ml |
| A long open living-dining | Move the bottle to the doorway end | A second bottle rather than a bigger one | Two point sources beat one; output per bottle is fixed | Duo sets ₹1,548–₹1,598 for 2 × 50ml |
| You want scent on demand, or over 250–300 sq ft | Close the room for an hour and walk back in | Sukoon — a different format entirely | 270–320 sq ft, remote, timers, three scents in the box | ₹1,899 · takes Hotel Collection, never reed oil |
| Not sure the reeds are still working | The wet-line test on one reed | A 50ml bottle for its six fresh reeds | Restores the rate the composition was dosed for | From ₹749 |
Versailles
I could make a louder refill tomorrow and it would sell. You raise the volatile fraction, or you carry the fragrance on a phthalate solvent that pushes it off the reed hard. Both win the first week convincingly. Both also come back to you by week six as a fragrance that has gone thin and slightly acrid, particularly once a Delhi or Ahmedabad summer gets into the bottle. Our range sits on a heat-stable CCT base instead, which means a smaller opening and a longer, flatter plateau, and I would rather state that trade plainly than win an argument in week one.
Which leaves the honest levers, and there are only three: the number on the scale, how many reeds you stand in the bottle, and where the bottle sits. A refill touches the first of those and only when you change composition. I would rather you knew that before ₹2,399 leaves your account than discover it in month two.
The 9.5 and the 9.4 are genuinely loud for this format, and for most Indian rooms they are enough. When they are not, the answer is a second bottle or a different format, not a heroic version of this one. Everything is composed and handmade in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
