The team is giving together: a duo ₹1,498–₹1,598, or a 130ml ₹1,249–₹1,349, signed openly by everybody.
It is a farewell: Mountain Breeze ₹849, or a duo from the group.
They are moving house: Morning Freshness ₹749 — bathroom first.
You know they are anti-floral: Mountain Breeze ₹849. You know nothing at all: Evening Calm ₹799.
Under ₹700: a core jar candle ₹379, or a two-pack ₹664. Never a message candle.
Your workplace has a gifting policy, or you are inside a review cycle: give nothing.
The honest gap: no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed, nothing aquatic or clean-linen, and no hotel-inspired reed diffuser. The attar line has an oud — Nawaab ₹399 — but a personal fragrance is never an appropriate work gift.
2. A duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 if the team is giving together, signed openly by everybody. A group gift may be larger because no single person is the giver and nobody is owed anything.
3. Two facts override both defaults. A stated dislike of florals or sweetness means Mountain Breeze ₹849. A house move means Morning Freshness ₹749, in the bathroom first.
4. Nothing above ₹849 from one person. Modest is not meanness; it is the property that keeps an upward gift readable as goodwill rather than as a bid.
5. If there is a gifting policy, or you are inside a review or appraisal cycle, give nothing. That is a branch of this tree, not an evasion of it.
Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde, six fibre reeds. Free shipping above ₹499, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The three branches that cover most cases
Which branch you are on is decided by who is giving, not by what you can spend. Take the first one that is true and stop reading.
Evening Calm₹799Evening Calm at ₹799, and nothing above ₹849. At 8.9 it is the softest scent in the range, it works in any room, and it carries no cultural loading. The ceiling matters as much as the choice: a modest gift travelling up a reporting line reads as goodwill, and an expensive one invites a second reading nobody wanted. Give it openly rather than privately.
Fresh & Grounded₹1,548A duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598, or one 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349, with everybody's name on it. A group gift may be larger precisely because it is unattributable — no single person is the giver, so nothing about it is a private gesture. The duo is the better of the two at similar money because it hedges: two 50ml bottles, and they keep the one they prefer.
Mountain Breeze₹849Evening Calm at ₹799 again, and stop looking. If you want something with more character and still safe, Mountain Breeze at ₹849 — Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar, no sweetness anywhere in it, and the least gendered register we make. Choosing by the recipient's gender is the error that makes corporate gifts awkward; choose by register instead.
Four branches that override the first three
If it is a farewell, buy Mountain Breeze at ₹849, or a duo if the team is giving. A farewell is the one work gift with no power imbalance left in it, so the ceiling lifts. If they are moving house, buy Morning Freshness at ₹749 and say the bathroom first — a new flat smells of the building, and a bathroom is the smallest room, so two or three reeds there will run a 50ml close to three months.
If you know they are anti-floral, ignore the defaults and buy Mountain Breeze at ₹849. Aditya R. in Bengaluru bought it precisely because it does not smell like a flower shop. Garden Bloom at ₹799 is never the upward answer, because a floral is a taste statement made on somebody else's behalf. If they love coffee, Fresh Brew at ₹849 is excellent — but only with real evidence, and never as a solo gift travelling upward, because at 9.5 it is the deepest thing we make and a specific choice implies you have been paying a specific kind of attention.
If they love hotels, there is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser and I will not stretch one to fit. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is the reed that reads most like a lobby. The genuine hotel scents are water-based and need the Sukoon at ₹1,899 — a machine, and an appliance is a poor work gift. If your budget is under ₹700, buy a message-free core jar candle at ₹379, or the two-pack at ₹664, rather than a compromised diffuser.
| If this is the situation | Give | Why | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| You are giving individually ★ | Evening Calm 50ml | 8.9, softest in range; modest, impersonal, no room it is wrong in | ₹799 |
| Individually, and you want more character | Mountain Breeze 50ml | Pine, sage, cedar — least sweet, least gendered register we make | ₹849 |
| Individually, any case at all | Nothing above ₹849 | Above ₹849 from one person invites a reading nobody wants | ₹749–₹849 |
| The team is giving together ★ | A duo, signed openly | Unattributable, so it may be larger; and it hedges — they keep one | ₹1,498–₹1,598 |
| The team wants one bottle, not two | A 130ml, signed openly | 14–18 weeks, sized for a room above 150 sq ft | ₹1,249–₹1,349 |
| It is a farewell | Mountain Breeze, or a duo from the group | The relationship is ending, so no advantage can be sought | ₹849 / ₹1,498–₹1,598 |
| They are moving house | Morning Freshness — bathroom first | A new flat smells of the building; the bathroom turns over quickest | ₹749 |
| You know they are anti-floral | Mountain Breeze 50ml | No sweetness anywhere in it; a floral would be a taste statement | ₹849 |
| You know nothing at all | Evening Calm 50ml | The lowest-variance thing we make. Stop looking | ₹799 |
| They genuinely love coffee | Fresh Brew — with evidence only | 9.5, deepest we make. Never as a solo gift travelling upward | ₹849 |
| They love hotels | Mountain Breeze 50ml | No hotel-inspired reed exists; the Sukoon is a machine, not a gift here | ₹849 |
| Budget under ₹700 | A core jar candle or two-pack | Message-free 80g jars. Below ₹749 a candle beats a compromised reed | ₹379 / ₹664 |
| There is a gifting policy, or you are in a review cycle | Give nothing | A gift that cannot be modest, impersonal and open should not be given | ₹0 |

The branch that ends in giving nothing
Two situations end here, and both are common enough to be worth a row of their own. The first is a written gifting policy. A great many organisations — regulated ones especially, and almost every listed company — cap or prohibit gifts along a reporting line, and a policy that exists is a policy that has been read by somebody in the room. A gift that puts your manager in the position of having to declare it, return it, or quietly not mention it is not a kindness, whatever it cost.
The second is timing. A gift given during an appraisal window, a promotion round or a redundancy consultation carries a meaning you did not put in it and cannot take out. The gesture is the same in March and in appraisal week; the reading is not. The four rules for an upward gift are that it should be modest, impersonal, given openly and ideally from a group — and if any one of those cannot be satisfied, the correct action is to give nothing and say something instead. That is not a failure of the tree. It is the last branch of it.
The edit, in buying order — and the gap
The same tree in buying order, ending with what this range does not contain: no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed, nothing aquatic, musk-led or clean-linen, and no hotel-inspired reed diffuser at all.
| Buy | What it is | When it is the right answer | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Evening Calm 50ml ★ | Kashmir lavender, chamomile, 8.9 — softest in the range | The default when you are giving individually | ₹799 |
| 2. Mountain Breeze 50ml | Himalayan pine, sage, Indian cedar, 9.4 — no sweetness | Anti-floral, a farewell, or when you want character | ₹849 |
| 3. Morning Freshness 50ml | Malabar lemon, peppermint, eucalyptus, 9.0 — bright | A house move. Bathroom first, two or three reeds | ₹749 |
| 4. A duo — the group gift | Two 50ml bottles, two registers, signed by everybody | When the team gives together. It hedges, and no one owns it | ₹1,498–₹1,598 |
| 5. A 130ml | One scent, 14–18 weeks, for a room above 150 sq ft | A group gift where a single bottle is preferred | ₹1,249–₹1,349 |
| 6. A core jar candle — second option | Message-free 80g jars, 15–18 hrs single, 30–36 the pair | Under ₹700. Never a message candle at work | ₹379 / ₹664 |
| No oud, no hotel reed: the honest gap | No oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed, nothing aquatic, musk-led or clean-linen, and no hotel-inspired reed diffuser. The Hotel Collection is water-based and ultrasonic-only; the Sukoon ₹1,899 includes three 15ml scents. The attar line has an oud, Nawaab ₹399 — but a personal fragrance is never a work gift | Said plainly. A machine is a poor work gift because it is an appliance | ₹1,899 / ₹399 |
Versailles
I wrote this one as a tree because nobody asking it wants an essay. They want to be told, usually the evening before, with a shortlist of one.
The thing a tree cannot carry is the tone. An upward gift is judged on restraint rather than on generosity, which is the opposite of how gifts usually work, and it is why the ceiling here is ₹849 rather than a matter of what you can afford. A home fragrance suits the job because it is aimed at a room rather than at a person — no socket, no maintenance, nothing to display, and nothing anybody has to interpret.
And the last branch is a real one. If there is a policy, or you are inside a review window, say something instead of buying something. Everything is composed and made in Pune, and a portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
