Should I buy a bigger machine for a ventilated home? No. Raising the output into moving air wastes most of it. Run the cycle with windows and internal doors closed so the level builds, then open up.
What is the practical rule? Build the level before you need it, in a closed house, and open up afterwards. Timing and doors solve ventilation, and capacity does not.
Air exchange changes the answer more than volume does
Sizing advice in this category is almost always given in area, occasionally in volume, and essentially never in the variable that matters most in an Indian home: how often the air in the space is completely replaced. Two houses of exactly 1,800 square feet, with identical ceiling heights and identical floor plans, can require entirely different setups because of this one difference, and understanding it prevents both overspending and disappointment. Consider the two extremes. The first home is run the way a great many Indian homes are run for most of the year: windows open, ceiling fans turning, cross-ventilation between opposite sides of the house, doors open to move air through. That home replaces its interior air many times an hour. This is excellent for the house in every other respect, and it has one consequence for fragrance, which is that anything released is carried outside almost as quickly as it appears. There is no accumulation, because accumulation requires the air to stay put. The second home is sealed and air conditioned for large parts of the day: windows closed, split units running, doors shut. Air exchange is far lower, so the same quantity of material builds a level and then holds it, and the textiles in the room accumulate a reserve that keeps releasing. Identical volume, completely different behaviour. Most real homes move between these two states depending on the season and the time of day, which is itself worth knowing, because it means a setting that is right in May with the air conditioning on may be doing almost nothing in November with the windows open. The instinctive response to a ventilated home is to buy a larger machine, and it is worth being direct about why that fails. Output released into moving air does not build a level; it is transported out of the building. Increasing the output increases the amount transported out of the building. The cost rises in proportion, the result does not, and in the meantime whatever level exists is concentrated close to the machine because the air is moving too fast for even distribution. This is the single most common way that money gets wasted at this size, and it is entirely avoidable. The fix is not capacity, it is timing and doors, and it is nearly free. Build the level before you need it, in a closed house, and open up afterwards. In practice that means running the cycle in the half hour or so before people come home in the evening, with windows shut and internal doors shut so the connected volume is as small and contained as it will be, and then opening the house as usual. The level that has been built persists for a while in the soft furnishings even after the windows open, because textiles release slowly, so you get the benefit at the moment it matters - arrival, when somebody walks in with an unadapted nose - rather than fighting an open house all day for a result nobody perceives anyway. This is exactly why a scheduled unit is genuinely useful at 1,800 square feet rather than merely a convenience. A Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank suits the main volume of a house this size, with the standing caveat that a tank is a recurring job - refilled every few days, rinsed between scents - and it is the small task that quietly stops being done. A Sukoon at Rs 1,799 suits a more compact main space or a second volume. There is a second honest conclusion buried in all of this, and it points away from machines. If your home is genuinely ventilated for most of the year - if the windows are open more often than not, and fans are the main way you move air - then a scheduled machine spends most of its life working against the ventilation, and reed diffusers are frequently the better product. A reed releases continuously and slowly, it does not depend on a schedule it cannot keep, it works with a door shut, and it costs Rs 749 to Rs 849 for three to four months. In a naturally ventilated house, a reed in each of the rooms that matter usually beats a machine that is being asked to fill a building with the windows open. Finally, the arithmetic for this band. The Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated for up to 1,000 square metres of connected air, which is roughly 10,700 square feet. An 1,800 square foot home is about 167 square metres. It remains well outside this size.
Sizing for a ventilated home
Sizing for a ventilated home. The main volume, where a scheduled unit genuinely earns its place because it can build the level before you need it rather than fighting an open house all day: the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank, or the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for a more compact main space, remembering that a tank is refilled every few days and rinsed between scents. Run the cycle in the half hour before people come home, with windows and internal doors closed so the level builds in a contained volume, then open up as usual - the soft furnishings hold what was built for a while afterwards, so the benefit lands at arrival, which is the only moment anybody perceives a home properly. If your house is naturally ventilated for most of the year, with windows open more often than not: reed diffusers are frequently the better product outright, since they release continuously, do not depend on a schedule they cannot keep, work behind closed doors and cost Rs 749 for Morning Freshness, Rs 799 for Garden Bloom, Rs 799 for Evening Calm, Rs 849 for Fresh Brew and Rs 849 for Mountain Breeze, three to four months per bottle, with refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Entrance: a reed or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799. Every closed room: one reed each, bedrooms at the lightest level. Not this home: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999, rated for up to 1,000 m² of connected air, roughly 10,700 square feet, against about 167 m² here. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents. This is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic diffusers and is not reed diffuser oil. Never scented: the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, children's rooms, and covered balconies and terraces, which cannot hold fragrance at all for exactly this reason. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.
| Scent | Why it suits the mood |
|---|---|
| Open windows and fans | Air replaced many times an hour. Nothing accumulates |
| Sealed and air conditioned | The same quantity builds a level and holds it |
| The wrong fix · ₹11,999 | A bigger machine. It sends more of it outside |
| The right fix · ₹1,799 to ₹3,499 | Build closed, then open. Or use reeds and forget timing |
The two-volume argument is in the 1,800 sq ft chapter, the route method is in the method chapter, and the 2,000 sq ft threshold is in the 2,000 sq ft chapter. Everything gathers in the size guide.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
