Below I explain what makes some reeds outlast others, how oil viscosity and the carrier interact with them, and how to get the best from whatever reeds you have.
Does the oil's thickness matter to the reeds? Yes. A thicker, more viscous oil climbs a reed more slowly than a thin one, which generally means a steadier, longer-lasting throw. The carrier base sets much of that viscosity.
Can I make my existing reeds last longer? Use fewer of them, flip them weekly, and keep the diffuser out of heat and draughts. And if a reed clogs over time, replace it - a fresh reed draws far better than a tired one.
