Think about what those two years were actually spent on. Falls and thresholds. Substrates. Where a junction lands. Movement joints. Sequencing so that one trade did not undo another. By the time the client walks in, almost all of that has disappeared into the fabric, and what remains for them is a set of conditions - how the rooms are proportioned, how they are lit, how they sound, what the air is like. The work has been invisible throughout. There is an argument for finishing in the same register rather than stepping out of it to hand over an object.
SOSA Vaayu, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted
SOSA Vaayu · 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm · freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted ₹11,999 →
The physical facts, because you will want them before anything else. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted, DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with auto-stop and a key-lock and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist, published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB. Four 100 ml fragrances included.
Quick answers — read this first
What can an architect give a client at handover that is not an object? A condition the house did not otherwise have. Scent is the only sensory layer in a completed house that never appears on a drawing and was never assigned to a trade. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, runs under 38 dB and is scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows.

Why is scent the layer an architect can add without contradicting their own scheme? Because it was never drawn. Every other sensory quality of the house was specified - by the architect, the services consultant, the lighting designer or the maker of the joinery. Scent had no specification and no subcontract, so adding it does not revise a decision and is not legible as a late correction.

Is it self-contained at handover? Yes. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. Those are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted.
The short answer
Short answer: Almost all of two years on a house is invisible by handover, and what the client is left with is a set of conditions. Every condition but one was specified by somebody. Scent was not, so it can be added without revising a decision. SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999 for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, with four 100 ml fragrances in the box.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the main floor is one connected volume - otherwise reed diffusers from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 in the rooms that stay closed.
Why: It is the one sensory layer that was never drawn, so it revises nothing. It is rated in connected air, it runs under 38 dB, it is scheduled rather than always on, and it comes complete with four 100 ml fragrances.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
I am the architect. After two years on one house, what do I hand over that is about the finished experience rather than an object?
Start from what the two years consisted of. Most of the work is not visible in the finished house - it is in substrates, falls, junctions, tolerances and sequencing, and its whole purpose was to disappear. What the client is left holding is not that work; it is a set of conditions. The proportion of the rooms. How they are lit through the day. How they sound. What the air in them is like. Three of those four were authored: by you, by a services consultant, by a lighting designer, by whoever chose the soft finishes. The fourth was never assigned to anybody. There is no scent drawing, no scent clause, no scent subcontract and no scent snag. So the mechanism is simple to state: the client comes into a finished house at an hour of their choosing, and there is a scent in it that nobody specified and nobody is being corrected by. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the way to do that: waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, on DC 12V / 1A at 5W. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, and it ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Two things to be exact about, since you are the one person who will be held to precision here. A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes the open part of the plan rather than the house as drawn. And fragrance adds a scent - it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify a smell, and it does not clean the air, so residual site odour is a ventilation matter and not this. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
You have spent two years on things nobody will ever see. There is no reason to finish by handing over something they cannot avoid seeing.
Where this lands: Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the plan is genuinely open - up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows, and complete in the box with four 100 ml fragrances.

Working in the register you have worked in for two years

Three parts: why this layer is the consistent one, how to size it against the plan you drew, and what the specification does not say.

1
The register
The work was invisible. Finish it that way.
There is a real awkwardness in an architect handing over an object at the end of a project, and it is not about taste. Anything with a surface arrives into a scheme the architect authored, and it is read as a late specification - an addition to, or a revision of, a set of decisions that were already made and signed off. That is an odd note to end two years on, and it is a hard problem to solve by choosing better.

The way out is not to buy more carefully. It is to stay in the register the work has been in the whole time. Nearly everything an architect does on a house is invisible by the time the client is standing in it, and that is the definition of it going well. Setting out, falls, junctions, what is behind a lining, the order in which things happened.

Scent belongs to the same family. It occupies no position on a plan, it takes nothing from the visual field, and it was never drawn by anybody - which is the point. It cannot read as a revision of a decision, because there was no decision there to revise. The mechanism is exactly that and nothing more: the client walks into the finished house and there is a scent present, in the one register nobody authored.
Tip: An object is read as a late specification. A condition is not, because nothing specified it.
2
The sizing
Read it against the plan the way you would read any rating
You will read the number more strictly than most buyers, which is useful, because the caveat carries more weight than the figure. Vaayu publishes up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes volume rather than gross floor area, and it describes joined volume rather than a plan total.

The published figure is cubic, and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling. On a scheme with a double-height space or a mezzanine reading into the hall, reason from the cubic number, because the floor-based one flatters it. And where the plan has doors - a closed dining room, bedrooms off a corridor - those are separate volumes and the figure does not carry into them. The honest answer for those is a passive bottle, from ₹749, or a duo set from ₹1,498, one room at a time.

Two limits stated plainly because you will ask. SOSA publishes no figure for what a second machine would add, so a joined volume larger than the rating is a conversation on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than a multiplication. And the unit is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg in black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted - so it is a real physical object with a real position, and you are better placed than anybody to decide where that position is.
3
The specification
What is published, and what SOSA does not publish
Published, and worth checking against your own expectations. Operation under 38 dB, which matters in rooms that are quiet by design. Control by Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. Power is DC 12V / 1A at 5W. CE, RoHS and SGS marks, country of origin India. And it ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, so the handover does not come with a shopping list attached.

Consumables. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. It takes alcohol-free, water-free oil formulated for cold-air diffusion; the water-based bottles on the site belong to the ultrasonic machines and are a different fluid for a different device. There is no filter and no consumable beyond the oil.

Not published, so do not write it into anything. There is no warranty period, no installation service, no running-cost figure and no app or connectivity detail. Wall and HVAC mounting is listed as an option; nothing about fixings, fitting or anything electrical is published, and none of it is SOSA's to advise on. The life of a 400ml fill is stated two different ways - about 75 days in the specification data and 90 or more in the body copy - and it varies with intensity and scheduled hours anyway. All of that goes to WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Tip: Mounting is listed as an option. No fitting, fixing or electrical guidance is published by SOSA.
SOSA Vaayu, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.

Work it out in this order
How to settle a handover gift without stepping out of your own register
  1. List the sensory conditions of the house and who specified each one.
  2. Scent will be the only line with no name, no drawing and no subcontract.
  3. Size it against connected volume on your plan, not against gross floor area.
  4. Closed rooms on the plan still suit a passive bottle from Rs 749.
The SOSA principle
Almost everything an architect does on a house has vanished into the fabric by the time the client is standing in it, and that is what going well looks like. Scent belongs to the same family: no position on a plan, no drawing, no trade, and therefore nothing it can be read as revising.
That is the argument for this category at handover specifically, and it is also why the size of the connected volume, rather than the size of the project, decides whether the answer is a machine or a bottle.

Choosing the set, and what it runs on afterwards

Three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999, so the choice is entirely about register. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. To be exact about what they are: SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. One judgement worth making deliberately. A hotel register is a strong and legible opinion, and a private house that two people intend to live in for decades may not want it - a home that reads like a lobby is a particular choice rather than a neutral one. Four 100 ml bottles let the household arrive at that themselves rather than being handed a position on it, which is the more comfortable way for this to come from you. If none of the four suits, the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm are a small correction. Bespoke composition by Sonal is also a real SOSA service, and that conversation happens on WhatsApp.

The SOSA gift edit
Four things an architect could hand over, and where each one fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999 The condition rather than the component: up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows, complete in the box with four 100 ml fragrances. It fails where the plan is cellular rather than open, and it is still 0.9 kg of hardware that needs a position, which you should choose.
A reed duo set · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598 Two bottles, about 6 to 10 weeks, nothing to plug in or set. The accurate answer for a cellular plan and for a household that will not operate anything. It fails on a large joined floor, where a passive bottle supplies the air beside it and no further. Three pairings are published and none is composed to order.
A photographic record of the build · any price Genuinely in your register and often the right instinct, and it documents the part that vanished. It fails as the only gesture, because it is about the two years rather than about the house they now live in - and it lands as something to be looked at, which is the thing you were trying to avoid.
A designed object · any price The default, and the awkward one. Coming from the architect it reads as a late specification inside a scheme you authored yourself, whatever it costs. It works only where the client has explicitly asked for exactly that thing, which is a different situation from the one this page is about.

The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.

Where this sits against the rest of the range, since a large house invites overspecification. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine for a hotel, a showroom or a corporate floor; the catalogue holds nothing between the two, and on a private house it is not the ambitious choice but simply the wrong specification. Below Vaayu, the ultrasonics - Boond at ₹899, Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 - are water-based, suit one enclosed room, and need water and regular refilling, which is a standing demand on whoever inherits them. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is cordless and travels with a person rather than scenting a property, and it is imported rather than made in India. Attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed, which makes them a gift about the client instead of about the building.

Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Coverage - up to 1000 m3, published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes an open-plan floor rather than a house of closed rooms.
  • The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
  • Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
  • In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
  • The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.

What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.

The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.

The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.

Frequently asked questions

What can an architect hand over at completion that is not an object?
A condition. A finished house is experienced as proportion, light, acoustics and air, and every one of those but the last was specified by somebody during the project. Scent had no drawing, no clause and no subcontract, so adding it does not revise a decision. In practice that means either a scent machine for a connected volume or reed diffusers for a cellular plan.
How much space does SOSA Vaayu cover?
The published figure is up to 1000 cubic metres, stated on the product page as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. It assumes one connected body of air, so read it as volume rather than gross floor area, and note that the square-foot line is a translation assuming an ordinary ceiling height. No figure is published for what a second machine would add.
Is it quiet enough for rooms that were designed to be quiet?
It is published as operating under 38 dB, and it does not run continuously unless it is set to. Control is by Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. Power is DC 12V / 1A at 5W, and the unit is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg.
Does SOSA publish anything about fitting or mounting it?
Freestanding placement and wall or HVAC mounting are both listed as options, and that is the extent of it. No fixing detail, no fitting guidance, no electrical information and no installation service is published, and none of it is SOSA's to advise on. There is also no published warranty period and no running-cost figure. Put anything beyond the listed options to SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
How long does a tank of oil last?
The tank is 400 ml and refillable, and the product page states its life two different ways - about 75 days in the specification data and 90 or more days in the body copy. Either way it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours. Refills are SOSA waterless nebuliser oils at Rs 1,049 for 100 gm and Rs 1,849 for 300 gm, and it takes water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
