Proportion is the word in the question and it is worth pulling apart, because it is usually being measured in the wrong unit. Objects are judged against a floor plan, and a double-height room is not remarkable on a floor plan at all - it is remarkable in section, where all the extra quantity sits. Whatever makes that duplex what it is, it is not square feet. It is air. And there is exactly one gift category whose specification is written in cubic metres.
SOSA Vaayu waterless cold-air scent machine rated to 1000 m3, Rs 11,999
SOSA Vaayu · up to 1000 m3 · under 38 dB ₹11,999 →
SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - the specification here is cubic: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft at an ordinary ceiling height. Waterless cold-air diffusion producing a dry residue-free mist, a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with adjustable intensity, and under 38 dB. How a double-height volume changes that sum is not published anywhere, so ask before buying.
Quick answers — read this first
What is a proportionate gift for someone with a double-height duplex? Something rated in the unit the room is remarkable in. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes up to 1000 m3 of coverage, stated on the page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml tank, under 38 dB operation and run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours.

Does a double-height room change the coverage arithmetic? Yes, and honestly: the published figure is cubic, and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling. A room of double height spends more of the allowance on height and less on floor. SOSA publishes nothing about how a two-storey space changes that sum, so it is a question for WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531 rather than something to estimate.

Is it audible in a room like that? Operation is published at under 38 dB. It is also scheduled rather than continuous, from a Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock.
The short answer
Short answer: Judge proportion in the unit the room is remarkable in. A double-height duplex is defined by volume, and SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the one gift rated in cubic metres, at up to 1000 m3 published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft at an ordinary ceiling height.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, with the height question put to SOSA on WhatsApp before you buy rather than after.
Why: It is the only item here specified in cubic metres, it runs under 38 dB, it is scheduled for the evenings the room is used, and it is complete in the box.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
What possession gift is proportionate to a double-height duplex where they host business associates at home?
Stop measuring proportion against the cost of the duplex and measure it against what makes the duplex distinctive. A double-height room is ordinary in plan and unusual in section, and the quantity it has more of than other homes is air. That narrows the field sharply, because almost nothing sold as a gift is specified in that unit. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is: waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3 and stated on the page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, and supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. Read the two figures in the right sequence. The cubic number is the published one, and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling. A double-height space spends the allowance on height, and SOSA publishes nothing about how a two-storey volume changes the sum, so ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 instead of estimating. A coverage figure also assumes one connected body of air, which a duplex with its doors open usually is and a duplex with them shut is not. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The duplex is unusual in section, not in plan. Measure the gift in the unit the room is unusual in, and the field narrows to almost nothing.
The short version: Vaayu at ₹11,999 is rated at up to 1000 m3 of connected air, runs under 38 dB and is scheduled by app - and the height question goes to SOSA before you buy.
See SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999

The unit, the arithmetic and the evening

Three things decide this, and the second is arithmetic that SOSA only publishes half of.

1
The unit
Proportion measured in section rather than in plan
Ask what a proportionate gift would even look like and the usual answer is a price - something expensive enough to sit alongside the address. That reasoning has no floor to it. The denominator is a house, so anything you buy is a small number against it, and the gift ends up being judged on taste instead.

Change the unit and the question becomes answerable. A double-height duplex is not remarkable in plan. Drawn flat it looks like other duplexes. What it has more of is the thing you cannot draw flat: the volume above head height, the two storeys of air over the living area, the reason the space sounds different when you walk into it.

Now sort the candidate gifts by whether any of them is specified in that unit. Furniture is specified in millimetres, art in the wall it needs, a decanter in the shelf it sits on. A scent machine is specified in cubic metres, which is the only unit this house has an unusual amount of. That is not a clever argument. It is simply the one category whose datasheet is written about the thing the duplex actually has.
Tip: Judge it against the volume, not against the price of the property.
2
The arithmetic
The figure is cubic, and the square-foot line is a translation
Here is the honest version of the number, because a double-height room is exactly where a coverage figure gets misread. Vaayu publishes up to 1000 m3, and the product page states that as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The cubic figure is the specification. The square-foot line is a translation, and a translation has to assume a ceiling height. It assumes an ordinary one.

A double-height room breaks that assumption in the obvious direction. It spends more of the same cubic allowance on height and less on floor, so the floor area a single machine relates to in that space is not the floor area the translated line describes. SOSA publishes nothing about how a two-storey space changes the arithmetic, and this page is not going to invent a number for it. That is a genuine gap, and the only honest thing to do with a gap is name it.

So the sequence is: send the rough shape of the duplex to SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 and ask, before buying rather than after. Two related things are also unpublished: no figure exists for what a second machine would add, and no guidance exists on running more than one in a property. The only other machine in the range, Meenar at ₹38,500, is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is built for a hotel or a showroom floor. In a home it is not the ambitious answer, it is the wrong one, and the catalogue holds nothing between the two.
3
The evening
What is published about a room that is used for hosting
Two published details matter more here than anything else. The first is under 38 dB. In a double-height room with hard surfaces, a machine that hummed would carry across the whole of it, and this is a figure the product page gives rather than an adjective it uses.

The second is scheduling. Control is by Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. A space used on particular evenings does not need a permanent scent, it needs a scent present on those evenings, and that is a setting rather than a purchase.

What this page will not do is tell you what any of that does to the people who walk in. Anybody entering an enclosed volume encounters whatever is in its air, and that is a fact about enclosed volumes - not a promise about a gathering, a conversation, or anybody's opinion of the house. On the practical side: it is supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each; there is no published installation service, no warranty period and no running-cost figure; and the 400ml fill is stated two ways on the page - about 75 days in the specification data and 90 or more in the body copy - so ask rather than plan around one.
Tip: Buy the schedule as much as the machine. A space used on Saturdays does not need a Tuesday.
SOSA Vaayu, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
See SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 →
Work it out in this order
Four steps, and one of them is a message rather than a decision.
  1. Stop pricing proportion. Measure the gift against the volume of the room.
  2. Note that the sq ft line assumes an ordinary ceiling, and theirs is double.
  3. Send the rough shape of the duplex to SOSA on WhatsApp and ask first.
  4. Then choose: Vaayu at Rs 11,999, or reeds from Rs 749 for separate rooms.
The SOSA principle
A double-height room is ordinary on a floor plan and unusual in section, and almost everything sold as a gift is specified against the plan - millimetres, wall space, a shelf. Scent is the one layer whose specification is written in the unit the room actually has more of.
Which is why the arithmetic matters more than the price here, and why the honest sequence is to ask SOSA about the height before buying rather than to work backwards from a number afterwards.

Which four-scent set, and what the machine runs on

The three published four-scent sets are all ₹11,999, so this is a taste decision and not a budget one. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. These are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. In a duplex where people are received at home rather than at an office, the lobby register is a defensible choice and also a declarative one, and four 100 ml bottles are what let somebody test it across a few evenings instead of committing to it on day one. If none of the four settles, the waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm.

The SOSA gift edit
Four candidates for a duplex like this, and the point each one fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999 The only one specified in the unit the room is unusual in: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft at an ordinary ceiling. Under 38 dB, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, four 100 ml fragrances in the box. It fails if you treat the translated floor figure as exact in a two-storey space, which is why the height goes to SOSA first.
SOSA Meenar · ₹38,500 Published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft, which is hotel, showroom and corporate-floor scale. In a duplex it is not the more ambitious answer, it is the wrong machine for the building, and the catalogue holds nothing between it and Vaayu. It fails as a gift precisely because spending more is the instinct this page is arguing against.
A reed duo set · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598 Two bottles in one box, about 6 to 10 weeks, passive, nothing to operate. Genuinely right for the bedrooms and the study upstairs, where the doors are shut anyway. It fails in the double-height space itself, where a passive bottle scents the area immediately around it and the rest of the volume never hears about it.
A large decorative object · any price The reflex, because a double-height wall looks like it is asking for something. It is the one wall in the house everybody already has an opinion about, it needs a position agreed by two people, and it is judged from the moment it goes up. It works only if their taste is genuinely known rather than inferred.

The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.

Where the rest of the range sits, briefly, because a large volume tempts people into the wrong shelf. The ultrasonic machines - Sukoon at ₹1,899, Megh at ₹5,999 and Boond at ₹899 - are water-based and suit a single closed room, and they need water and regular refilling, which is a weekly job handed to somebody who did not choose the machine. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is cordless and portable: it travels with a person to a car or a hotel room rather than scenting a property, and it is imported rather than made in India. Attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed, which makes them a gift about a person instead of about a building. A candle from ₹399 needs a flame and somebody to light it, which is simply what the format is, and no burn-hour figure is published. None of those is a worse product; they answer different questions, and the question here is about a two-storey volume of air.

Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Coverage - up to 1000 m3, published as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so it describes an open-plan floor rather than a house of closed rooms.
  • The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
  • Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
  • In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
  • The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.

What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.

The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.

The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.

Frequently asked questions

Does a double-height room change how much one machine covers?
The published coverage is up to 1000 cubic metres, and the product page states that as about 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. The cubic figure is the specification and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling height. A double-height space spends more of that allowance on height, and SOSA publishes nothing about how a two-storey volume changes the sum, so ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Will it be audible in a space with hard surfaces?
Operation is published at under 38 dB. It is also scheduled rather than continuous: control is by Bluetooth app or the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. Nothing is published about acoustics beyond that single figure, so treat it as the whole of what SOSA states.
Is Meenar the more appropriate machine for a large duplex?
Almost certainly not. SOSA Meenar is Rs 38,500 and is published for 12,000 to 18,000 square feet, which is hotel, showroom and corporate-floor scale. For a home it is not the ambitious choice, it is the wrong one, and the catalogue holds nothing between it and Vaayu at Rs 11,999.
What is in the box, and what has to be bought afterwards?
It comes with fragrance. Every Vaayu is supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each, so nothing further is needed on day one. Afterwards the SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are Rs 1,049 for 100 gm and Rs 1,849 for 300 gm, and the machine takes alcohol-free, water-free oils made for cold-air diffusion.
Will it do anything about the smell of a space after an evening?
No. Fragrance adds a scent to a space: it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify a smell, and it does not clean the air. That is worth being clear about before buying, because it is the commonest thing a scent machine is expected to do and the one thing it does not do. Ventilation is the answer to that, not fragrance.

Vaayu at ₹11,999 is specified in cubic metres - up to 1000 m3, under 38 dB, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with chosen days, and four 100 ml fragrances in the box. What a double-height volume does to that sum is not published anywhere, so send SOSA the rough shape of the duplex on WhatsApp first. If the doors upstairs stay shut, reed diffusers from ₹749 are the better answer for those rooms.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.
