If the desk is also the dining table, do not place the diffuser in the centre. Place it at the back, against the wall, near the laptop. 1. Running the diffuser 24/7
This is the single most common protocol failure. If the scent is on when you are sleeping, eating, watching TV, and working, the brain has no contrast to learn from. The pairing dissolves into "general air smell". Flip the reeds down whenever the laptop closes.
2. Carrying the scent into the bedroom
If your desk and your bed are in the same room, this is harder, but not impossible. Place the diffuser at the desk corner, well away from the bed. Use a smaller bottle (the standard SOSA size, not the 200ml format). When you stop work, move the diffuser into a cupboard or fold the reeds down. The scent should disappear from the room by the time you turn the lights off.
3. Switching scents mid-cycle

Founder note - Indore, 2024
The Focus Scent Switch was not a framework we sat down to invent. It came out of one customer's email and the four months that followed it.
In October 2024, a freelance graphic designer based in Indore wrote to us. She had moved back from Mumbai after the pandemic, was working from the dining table of a 2 BHK in the Vijay Nagar area, and was struggling.
