A thousand rupees a head is not a compromise budget for bridesmaid gifts. It is the budget most brides actually have once the outfits, the photographer and the mehendi artist have taken their share, and it buys more than people expect if you spend it on something small and good rather than something large and forgettable. This page does the arithmetic properly: what fits under ₹1,000 on its own, which two-item pairs land at ₹758 or ₹878, and what five or six of each comes to in total.
Quick answers — read this first
What are the best bridesmaid gifts under Rs 1,000? Under Rs 1,000 you are choosing between one good single item and a considered pair. The strong singles: an alcohol-free attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399 (Adaa Rs 379, Ameeri Rs 385, Mastani Rs 389), a solid body perfume from Rs 459 with Desire at Rs 489, a hand-poured jar candle from Rs 379, a car perfume from Rs 449 for the bridesmaid who drives, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 799 for the one whose flat you know. The strong pairs, both under the cap: Adaa Rs 379 plus a candle Rs 379 is Rs 758, and Mastani Rs 389 plus Desire Rs 489 is Rs 878. A pair looks like more thought for very little more money.
What does a set of five bridesmaid gifts cost at this budget? Multiply before you decide, because the unit price is not the number that matters. Five attars at Rs 389 each is Rs 1,945. Five candles at Rs 379 each is Rs 1,895. Five solid perfumes at Rs 489 each is Rs 2,445. Five Rs 758 pairs is Rs 3,790, and five Rs 878 pairs is Rs 4,390. Six bridesmaids at Rs 379 is Rs 2,274, and six at Rs 489 is Rs 2,934. Five reed diffusers at Rs 749 each is Rs 3,745 and takes you to the top of this budget for the whole group. Those are all published single-unit prices with nothing assumed about bulk terms.
Is Rs 1,000 enough for a bridesmaid gift, or does it look cheap? It is enough, and the thing that makes a gift look cheap is rarely the price. It is filler: a large box with very little in it, or an object with no use after the weekend. A Rs 389 attar in a small box with a handwritten note reads as chosen. A Rs 379 candle that she burns at home for weeks reads as generous. What reads as thin is a novelty item bought five times because it was quick. Spend the money on something small, alcohol-free and genuinely usable, present it simply with one ribbon colour across the group, and write the note yourself. Under Rs 1,000 done carefully beats Rs 2,000 spent in a hurry.
The short answer
Short answer: Under Rs 1,000 per bridesmaid, the best picks are a single attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399 (Adaa Rs 379, Ameeri Rs 385, Mastani Rs 389), a solid body perfume from Rs 459 with Desire at Rs 489, a hand-poured candle from Rs 379, a car perfume from Rs 449, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 799. Two-item pairs that stay under the cap: attar Rs 379 plus candle Rs 379 = Rs 758; attar Rs 389 plus Desire Rs 489 = Rs 878; attar Rs 399 plus Titan Rs 500 = Rs 899. Group totals from published single-unit prices: five attars at Rs 389 = Rs 1,945; five candles at Rs 379 = Rs 1,895; five Rs 758 pairs = Rs 3,790. Buy one matched set rather than five different scents.
The pick: a SOSA gift matched to the life they live - personal fragrance from ₹379, home fragrance from ₹379, the Safar for their car (₹3,999), the Vaayu for their business (₹11,999).
Shop: the SOSA gifts collection - alcohol-free, beautifully packaged, from ₹299.
The best fragrance gift is matched to the life the person lives: a scent for their skin, their home, their daily drive - or the business they are proudest of. SOSA covers the whole ladder, from a Rs 379 attar to the Rs 11,999 Vaayu, every step alcohol-free and beautifully packaged.
What can you actually buy for a bridesmaid under Rs 1,000, and what does the whole group cost?
Four moves. 1. Choose the single or the pair. Singles under the cap: an attar at ₹379 to ₹399, a solid body perfume from ₹459 (Desire ₹489, Titan ₹500), a candle from ₹379, a car perfume from ₹449, or a reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹799. 2. Or build a pair, which almost always reads better.Adaa ₹379 plus a candle ₹379 comes to ₹758. Mastani ₹389 plus Desire ₹489 comes to ₹878. Nawaab ₹399 plus Titan ₹500 comes to ₹899 if one of your group prefers a deeper oud register. 3. Multiply. Five at ₹389 is ₹1,945; five at ₹758 is ₹3,790; six at ₹489 is ₹2,934; five reed diffusers at ₹749 is ₹3,745, which is the top of this budget for a whole group. If the total is higher than the line you had in mind, drop from a pair to a single rather than dropping a person. 4. Buy one register for the group. Same scent, same box, different handwritten note - simpler on a morning when nobody can find their earrings, and five different perfumes in one small getting-ready room genuinely do collide. One honest note: every figure here is built from published single-unit prices, and anything to do with larger orders or packaging is a conversation to have rather than assume. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: under ₹1,000, buy an attar at ₹379 to ₹399 or a solid perfume from ₹459 on its own, or pair an attar with a candle for ₹758 - and remember five of them is ₹1,945 to ₹3,790, not ₹1,000.
The gifting ladder at a glance: an attar for them (from ₹379), a reed diffuser or candle for their home (from ₹379), the Safar for their car (₹3,999), the Vaayu for their business (₹11,999) - all alcohol-free, all ready to gift.
Three things to get right at this budget: which single items genuinely fit, which pairs stay under the cap, and the group arithmetic that decides all of it.
1
The singles
Six things under ₹1,000 that are worth buying five times
The attars are the workhorses: Adaa ₹379, Ameeri ₹385, Mastani ₹389, Nawaab ₹399 - alcohol-free roll-on perfume oils, clutch-sized, wearable on the day. The solid body perfumes start at ₹459 with Desire at ₹489: 15g tins that cannot leak next to a silk outfit. A hand-poured jar candle from ₹379 is the take-home gift for a friend whose perfume taste you cannot guess. An alcohol-free car perfume from ₹449 suits the bridesmaid who drives everywhere and is the most quietly used gift on this list. And at the top of the budget, a Morning Freshness reed diffuser at ₹749 or Garden Bloom at ₹799 gives her six to ten weeks of a scented hallway with no flame and no plug.
Tip: the best single under ₹1,000 is whichever one she will still be using in March.
2
The pairs
Two items, one box, still under the cap
A pair is the reason this budget punches above its weight, because two small things in one box look considered in a way one small thing does not. The exact combinations, all under ₹1,000: Adaa ₹379 plus a candle ₹379 is ₹758, the cheapest pair that still covers both her skin and her room. Ameeri ₹385 plus a candle ₹379 is ₹764. Adaa ₹379 plus a car perfume ₹449 is ₹828 for a bridesmaid who drives. Mastani ₹389 plus Desire ₹489 is ₹878, which is the pair most brides land on: an oil for the evening and a balm for the daytime touch-up. And Nawaab ₹399 plus Titan ₹500 is ₹899 for the deeper oud-and-saffron register. Five of the ₹758 pair is ₹3,790; five of the ₹878 pair is ₹4,390.
3
The honest arithmetic
The unit price is not the number that decides this
Every bride who blows this budget does it the same way: she picks something lovely at ₹900, then remembers there are six of them. Do the multiplication before you choose, not after. Five at ₹379 is ₹1,895. Five at ₹489 is ₹2,445. Five at ₹749 is ₹3,745. Six at ₹389 is ₹2,334. Six at ₹489 is ₹2,934. If the total is more than the line you had in mind, drop to a single item rather than dropping a bridesmaid, and keep the one higher gift - the Attar Trio at ₹1,055 - for the maid of honour if you want a visible difference. All of these are published single-unit prices. If you are ordering for a large group and want to talk about anything beyond that, treat it as an enquiry with your headcount, your per-person budget and your date in hand, rather than assuming terms.
Tip: decide the total first, divide by heads, then shop - never the other way round.
The SOSA principle
Under ₹1,000 is not the small version of a bridesmaid gift. It is the version she can carry, wear and finish - which is the only version that gets used at all.
One good single at ₹379 to ₹799, or a two-item pair at ₹758 to ₹899, bought identically for everyone and personalised in the note.

The SOSA gifting universe
Match the gift to the life they live - skin, home, car or business
Waterless scent machine (~1000m³, app + timer) - gift a business its signature
₹11,999
Honest gifting notes: fragrance is personal - when you do not know their taste, choose a gift set (the Attar Trio, ₹1,055) or a home fragrance rather than a personal scent, and favour widely-loved families (sandalwood, citrus, soft florals) over polarising ones. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with any hotel brand. Ultrasonic diffusers use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Safar and Vaayu run waterless oil - the formats are not interchangeable. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal
The gifts people remember are rarely the most expensive - they are the most seen. A scent is exactly that: it enters the person's daily life - on their skin, in their living room, in the car they drive to work, in the shop they built from nothing - and every time they meet it, they think of you.
That is why I built the SOSA range as a ladder rather than a shelf: an attar for the person, a candle or diffuser for their home, the Safar for their car, the Vaayu for their business. Match the gift to the life they live and it stops being a thing and becomes a habit - the daily moment where your gift keeps arriving. Everything is alcohol-free, long-lasting and handmade in small batches in India.
One honest note: fragrance is personal. If you do not know their taste, pick a gift set so they can choose, or scent their space instead of their skin - a home or car fragrance flatters almost everyone. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Is it better to give one item or two smaller ones at this budget?
Two, if the pair genuinely does two different jobs rather than being one gift cut in half. An attar at Rs 379 plus a candle at Rs 379 comes to Rs 758 and covers her skin and her room, which is a proper pair. An attar at Rs 389 plus a solid perfume at Rs 489 comes to Rs 878 and gives her an oil for the evening and a balm she can top up with from her clutch during the day, which is also a proper pair. What does not work is two versions of the same thing, like two attars at Rs 379 each, because the second one adds cost without adding use. If the choice is between one very good single item and a padded pair, take the single. A Rs 799 reed diffuser on its own is a better gift than Rs 800 of miscellaneous small things.
Should all my bridesmaids get identical gifts, or can I vary them by budget?
Identical is the default for a reason: it is simpler to buy, simpler to hand out on a chaotic morning, and it removes any chance of somebody quietly comparing boxes. Varying by budget is fine in exactly one situation, which is a maid of honour or a sister who has done substantially more work than everybody else, and in that case make the difference obvious and unembarrassing - the Attar Trio at Rs 1,055 for her, a single attar at Rs 389 for the rest, presented at different moments rather than side by side. What to avoid is a sliding scale across the whole group, where one person gets Rs 900 and another gets Rs 400 based on some private ranking. That is the version people notice, and it is the only way this gift can go wrong socially.
What if one bridesmaid does not wear perfume at all?
Give her the room rather than her skin, and do it without making a thing of it. A hand-poured candle at Rs 379 or a reed diffuser at Rs 749 is the same gesture at the same price, and it works for someone who dislikes wearing fragrance, has a scent-sensitive workplace, or simply never got into perfume. Nobody at the wedding needs to know the boxes were not identical inside. The other quiet option is an alcohol-free car perfume from Rs 449, which suits people who like a scented space but not a scented self. If you are not sure which of your bridesmaids this applies to and you cannot ask without spoiling the surprise, the whole-group answer is a candle or reed set: a room fragrance flatters almost everybody, which is exactly why it is the safe default.
Do I need to worry about how the gifts are packaged if I am buying five?
It is worth ten minutes and very little money, and it is the part you can control entirely yourself. Five identical boxes look like a set the moment they share one ribbon colour, and a set is what makes a modest budget read as deliberate. Tissue in the shade of your mehendi outfit, one ribbon, one handwritten card each: that is the whole exercise. What you should not do is assume anything beyond the product itself is arranged for you. Custom labels, printed names, branded sleeves and assembled hampers are things to ask about rather than plan around, and most brides at this budget do the presentation at home the week before, which is also when they write the notes. Order the products, allow one evening for the wrapping, and the set will look far more expensive than the arithmetic suggests.
How far in advance should I order bridesmaid gifts?
Earlier than feels necessary, because the last fortnight before an Indian wedding has no spare hours in it. Two to three weeks of buffer before the first function is a sensible target: it gives you time to check that everything arrived in the same condition, to write five notes without rushing, and to wrap them on an evening when you are not also confirming the sangeet playlist. Ordering early also protects you from the one thing you cannot control, which is stock on a specific scent when you need five identical ones. If a particular attar matters to your matched set, buy it as soon as you have decided rather than the week before. And if your gifts are travelling to a destination wedding, add more time and choose formats that pack flat and cannot spill.
