Under ₹500 · ₹379
The line starts ₹749
The safest ₹799
A man or a study ₹849
A household of two ₹1,498
The single safest gift at any budget above ₹749: Evening Calm ₹799 — 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale, the softest thing we make.
Under ₹500 the reed is unavailable. There is no SOSA reed diffuser below ₹749 and no ultrasonic machine below ₹899. Under ₹500 the real shelf is a jar candle ₹379, the Smoked Oudh or Sandalwood candle ₹449, a wax melt ₹474, a car perfume ₹449–₹509 or a 3ml attar ₹379–₹399.
The ₹299 figure on our price list is a refill. The 15ml Hotel Collection oil needs an ultrasonic machine. It is never a standalone gift.
The gaps, in one line: no gift card, no hamper, no curated gift set, no room spray, no oud/sandalwood/vetiver/amber reed, no hotel-inspired reed, no verified corporate or bulk gifting programme, and nothing verified about wrapping, notes or delivery timing.
2. Read the budget as a ceiling, not a target. Under ₹500 there is no reed diffuser and no machine at SOSA; the line starts at Morning Freshness ₹749 and the cheapest machine is the Boond at ₹899. What ₹500 does buy is real and good: a hand-poured jar candle at ₹379, the message-free Smoked Oudh or Sandalwood candle at ₹449, a wax melt at ₹474, a car perfume at ₹449–₹509 or a 3ml attar at ₹379–₹399. If you can reach ₹749, the reed is a different class of gift and I will say why. If you cannot, nothing on that list is a compromise.
3. Read the relationship as a limit on how personal you may be. A room is a safe subject and a body is not, which is the rule that governs the whole of this family. For a colleague, a boss, an in-law or somebody you barely know, buy for the room: a reed diffuser, or a message-free candle. Never a perfume, never a solid perfume, never a message candle. For a partner, a sibling or a close friend, the range opens up, and a personal fragrance becomes reasonable because you have the standing to have an opinion about them.
4. Then take the safest register unless you know better. Evening Calm ₹799 at 8.9 is the softest composition we make and the safest thing to give anybody: low strength, low polarisation, room-agnostic, and carrying no cultural or memory loading in an Indian home. Mountain Breeze ₹849 at 9.4 is the answer for a man, a study or a household with mixed tastes. Garden Bloom ₹799 only if you know they like flowers; Fresh Brew ₹849 at 9.5 only for a coffee drinker.
5. And know the four households where none of this applies. A home mid-renovation, anybody with a stated scent aversion or sensitivity, a newborn household that has asked for nothing added, and somebody for whom the ritual is the point — who wants to light something rather than have something run. In the first three, give something else entirely. In the fourth, give a candle.
Every reed is alcohol-free on a heat-stable CCT carrier, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde, with six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, composed in Pune by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer. Free shipping above ₹499. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The three decisions, in the order they have to be made
Ninety-nine pages of this series argue about products. This one is about the order of operations, because nearly every bad gift I have watched somebody buy was a good product chosen at the wrong step. The category has to be settled before the budget, and the budget before the register — reverse any two of those and you end up with a lovely object in a house that had no use for it. What follows is the order, with the reason each step comes where it does.
Jar candle₹379First, and it is a yes or no. Home fragrance suits most adults for one structural reason: it is pleasant, non-urgent, and permanently third on a list of two things, so it stays wanted and unbought indefinitely. That is the exact shape of the space a gift should occupy. But there are four households where it is the wrong category outright and no composition rescues it — a home mid-renovation, anybody with a stated scent aversion or sensitivity, a newborn home that has asked for nothing added, and the person for whom the ritual is the point. That last one is not a risk, it is a preference: they want a match and a moment, so give them a candle at ₹379, the ₹449 singles, tapers at ₹569 or a woodenwick at ₹949.
Morning Freshness₹749There is one hard line in this catalogue and it sits at ₹749. Below it there is no reed diffuser, and below ₹899 there is no ultrasonic machine. That is not a marketing decision: 50ml of composed oil, a glass bottle and six fibre reeds cannot be made for less without cutting the carrier, and cutting the carrier is what produces a diffuser that turns bitter in a Delhi May. So under ₹500 the honest shelf is candles, wax melts, car perfumes and 3ml attars, all of which are real gifts. Between ₹500 and ₹1,000 the whole line opens up and this is the most useful band in the range. Above ₹1,000 you are buying duration — the 130ml runs 14–18 weeks rather than 6–8 — and above ₹1,500 you are buying two rooms rather than one.
Mountain Breeze₹849Two questions at once. The relationship sets how personal you may be: a room is a safe subject, a body is not, so a colleague, a boss, an in-law or a near-stranger gets something for the house and never a perfume, a solid perfume or a message candle. And the room sets the size and the register: under about 150 sq ft is a 50ml, above it a 130ml; a study or a household with mixed tastes wants Mountain Breeze, a small flat or a kitchen wants Morning Freshness, and everything else — including everything you cannot answer — wants Evening Calm.
Every honest gap in the range, in one place
This series has said all of these individually across a hundred pages. Here they are together, because a buying guide that only lists what exists is a catalogue, and because the fastest way to lose somebody is to have them discover a limitation at the checkout that we knew about while we were writing.
There is no reed diffuser under ₹749 and no ultrasonic machine under ₹899. This is the defining constraint of everything above. Any page anywhere promising you a sub-₹500 reed diffuser at SOSA is wrong. The 15ml Hotel Collection oil at ₹299 is a refill, water-based and ultrasonic-only; it cannot go in a reed diffuser and the recipient almost certainly does not own the machine, so it is never a standalone gift. There is no SOSA gift card, which removes the obvious escape from not knowing somebody's taste and is why this guide is built around a method instead. There is no gift hamper, gift box or curated reed gift set — a duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 is two bottles and no packaging theatre.
There is no room spray or home spray. Every SOSA spray is a car perfume, ₹449–₹509 for 12ml, and it is a genuinely good small gift for somebody who drives — it is simply not a room product. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser, and no musk-led, aquatic, marine, ozonic or clean-linen reed either; the line has five scents and that is all of it. What does exist in those registers is the Smoked Oudh and Sandalwood candles at ₹449, and the Nawaab attar at ₹399 for 3ml, which is a white oud with saffron and is personal fragrance rather than home. There is no hotel-inspired reed — those seven scents are water-based and need a Boond ₹899 or a Sukoon ₹1,899.
And two operational absences that matter for gifting specifically. There is no verified corporate or bulk gifting programme — no bulk rate, no GST arrangement, no custom branding, no minimum order and no committed delivery window — so if you are buying for an office, buy the products on their merits and plan the logistics yourself. And nothing about gift wrapping, gift notes, personalisation or delivery timing is verified, so this guide says nothing about any of it. The one logistics fact I will state is that shipping is free above ₹499, and that a single ₹379 candle does not reach that threshold on its own.
The master table — budget across, relationship down
Find your row, find your column, buy the square. Under ₹500 the reed is unavailable in every single row, so that column is candles, wax melts and attars throughout — and it is an honest column, not a consolation one. The only prices anywhere on this page are SOSA's.

When none of this applies — and the gifts I would not sell you
A hundred pages of method, and the method has limits worth stating at the end rather than burying. If the person has told you what they want, buy that. A stated preference beats every square in the table above, and there is a quiet failure mode where somebody mentions a thing three times, is given something thoughtful and structural instead, and concludes they were not listened to. The same goes for a visible obsession: a cook, a cyclist, a gardener, somebody who has talked about one subject for a decade. Buy into the obsession. It will not be the most original gift on the table and it does not need to be, because specificity reads as attention and attention is the entire content of a gift.
For a real milestone, an object that stays is often correct. A wedding, a fiftieth, a retirement, a first house: the recipient will want something to look at in ten years, and a bottle that finishes in eight weeks is the wrong shape for that however well it is made. The consumable argument — that a gift which ends caps your downside — is a blind-buying argument, and at a milestone you are usually not buying blind. Take the 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 if you want the biggest thing this range does well, or accept that the right gift is somewhere else entirely and go and find it.
And the four households once more, because they are the part of this series I would most like to survive. A home mid-renovation — paint, dust and solvent overwhelm any composition and there is nowhere to put it; wait, and make it a completion present. Anybody with a stated scent aversion or sensitivity — that is a settled position, not a search for the right product, and no fact about our carrier or our formaldehyde figure is an answer to somebody's account of their own head. A newborn household that has asked for nothing added — believe them; plenty of new-parent homes love a soft diffuser, and the ones that have told you otherwise have told you. And the person for whom the ritual is the point — give them something lit, because a thing that runs without them is not the gift they wanted.
The complete ladder, ₹379 to ₹1,899 — and the gap
Every rung in this universe in one table, in price order, with what each is actually for. The last row collects every honest gap in the range. Note the hard line between ₹509 and ₹569: nothing below ₹749 is a reed diffuser and nothing below ₹899 is a machine, and no amount of wanting it to be otherwise changes that.

Versailles
This is the last page of a hundred, and the thing I would like it to be remembered for is the ₹749 line. We do not make a reed diffuser under ₹749 and I am not going to. Fifty millilitres of composed oil, a glass bottle and six fibre reeds cannot be made for less without cutting the carrier, and the carrier is the entire difference between a diffuser that fades and one that turns bitter in a Delhi May. Saying that costs us the fifteen or so pages in this series where somebody arrived with ₹500 and wanted a reed. I would rather lose those than have somebody find out at the product page.
What I have enjoyed about writing this universe is how little of it turned out to be about fragrance. The reader who arrives here is not choosing between a lavender and a cedar; they are choosing between a category and a category, with a budget in one hand and a Sunday deadline in the other. Solving the category first and the product second is a slower way to sell things and a much better way to be useful, and the reviews we get back — a father who is impossible to buy for asking for a second bottle, a friend with a newborn describing one calm corner of the house — are reviews of a decision rather than of a smell.
So: the ladder above is the whole of it, ₹379 to ₹1,899, and everything we do not have is written in the last row rather than left for you to discover. If you take one product away, take Evening Calm at ₹799. It sits at 8.9 because I wanted one composition in the range that could be bought by somebody who was not sure, and it is the only thing here that was written to a brief about the buyer rather than about the room. Everything is composed in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
