This is the page the other nine lead to: every SOSA gift a family buys, from ₹379 to ₹1,899, in one ladder, with every honest gap named in one place. The method underneath it is short. A budget is a ceiling, not a target — nobody searching for a gift under ₹1,000 is trying to spend ₹999, they are trying not to be embarrassed. And within a family the tier is decided by the room you are buying for and by how well you can actually read the person, never by how much you love them. Parents get the softest bottle we make. Siblings get the most accurate one, because they can price your gift anyway.
Quick answers — read this first
The whole ladder: jar candle ₹379 · 3ml attar ₹379–₹399 · Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh candle ₹449 · car perfume ₹449–₹509 · solid perfume ₹459–₹489 · wax melt ₹474 · taper candles ₹569 · candle two-pack ₹664 · 6ml attar ₹669–₹699 · reed diffuser 50ml ₹749–₹849 · Boond machine ₹899 · woodenwick candle ₹949 · 3ml attar trio ₹1,055 · 12ml attar ₹1,149–₹1,199 · reed 130ml ₹1,249–₹1,349 · duo ₹1,498–₹1,598 · Sukoon machine ₹1,899.

The routing: mother or father Evening Calm ₹799 · father with a study Mountain Breeze ₹849 · sister Garden Bloom ₹799 or a duo · brother Mountain Breeze ₹849.

The honest gaps, in one line: no reed below ₹749, no machine below ₹899, no gift card, no gift wrap or gift note, no hamper or curated gift set, no room spray, no oud/sandalwood/vetiver/amber reed, no hotel-inspired reed, and the ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is a refill rather than a gift.
The short answer
Short answer: for a family, buy Evening Calm at ₹799 for parents and grandparents, Mountain Breeze at ₹849 for a father with a study or a brother, and Garden Bloom at ₹799 or a duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 for a sister. Below ₹749 there is no reed diffuser at all; the real gifts there are an 80g jar candle at ₹379, a ₹449 Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh candle, a ₹474 wax melt or a 3ml attar at ₹379–₹399.
Three tiers, and what each one buys: under ₹500 is the courtesy tier — candles, wax melts, car perfumes, 3ml attars, and no reed or machine of any kind. ₹500–₹1,000 is the considered tier, and it is where the reed line opens at ₹749 and the Boond machine sits at ₹899. ₹1,000–₹1,899 is the substantial tier — a 130ml reed, a 12ml attar, a duo, or the Sukoon.
Shop: five reeds — Morning Freshness ₹749, Evening Calm ₹799, Garden Bloom ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849 — each with six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant, 0 ppm formaldehyde, composed in Pune. 130ml ₹1,249–₹1,349. Duos ₹1,498–₹1,598. Free shipping above ₹499.
Straight answer
How should I choose gifts for my whole family without overspending or getting it wrong?
1. Set the tier by the room and the relationship, not by affection. Under ₹500 is a courtesy gift and is entirely respectable when there are many people to buy for. ₹500–₹1,000 is the tier where the reed diffuser becomes available and where most family gifts belong. ₹1,000–₹1,899 is for the one or two people whose home you are actually changing.

2. For a parent, go softer and smaller than instinct suggests. Evening Calm at ₹799 is 8.9 on the SOSA strength scale — the softest thing we make — and in an older, more closed household it should go in with three reeds rather than six. An older home almost always wants less scent, and the failure mode is not dislike, it is too much on day one.

3. For a sibling, spend on accuracy. A brother or sister can price your gift to within a few hundred rupees, so expense does nothing and precision does everything. Mountain Breeze ₹849 for a brother; Garden Bloom ₹799 for a sister who likes florals; a duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 when you want warmth rather than scale.

4. Below ₹749 the reed does not exist, and I will not pretend otherwise. The real sub-₹500 shelf is an 80g jar candle at ₹379, a Smoked Oudh or Sandalwood candle at ₹449, a wax melt at ₹474, a car perfume at ₹449–₹509 or a 3ml attar at ₹379–₹399. All genuine gifts. None of them a reed diffuser or a machine.

5. Never a joke or message candle for a parent, a grandparent or an in-law. Message-free jars only in that direction. Everything here is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, IFRA-compliant and 0 ppm formaldehyde, composed in Pune by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer. Free shipping above ₹499 — and a single ₹379 candle does not reach that line on its own. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: the ladder runs ₹379 (jar candle) to ₹1,899 (Sukoon machine), and the reed diffuser opens at ₹749. Parents get Evening Calm ₹799 with three reeds; a brother gets Mountain Breeze ₹849; a sister gets Garden Bloom ₹799 or a duo.
SOSA Evening Calm lavender and chamomile reed diffuser
The single most useful bottle in a family
Evening Calm · Kashmir lavender + chamomile ₹799 / 50ml
The softest scent SOSA makes at 8.9 on our strength scale, and the one I would repeat across a family if I had to buy identically. Kashmir-grown lavender with real chamomile in the base — the chamomile is what keeps it warm rather than clinical, which is the failure mode of most lavender — over a soft musk drydown. No cultural loading, no polarisation, works in any room. 6–8 weeks on the 50ml; 130ml at ₹1,299 for a shared living room.

The three tiers, and what each one actually buys

Every family gifting decision I have watched anybody make comes down to picking a tier and then picking within it, and almost all the regret comes from picking the tier badly rather than the product. Here is what each of the three genuinely contains at SOSA, including the boundary that this entire universe turns on: there is no reed diffuser under ₹749 and no ultrasonic machine under ₹899.

1
TIER ONE · UNDER ₹500
Courtesy — and no reed, no machine, at any price here
SOSA Misty Mornings jar candleMisty Mornings₹379This tier is where most large-family shopping happens and it is not a compromise. What exists: an 80g hand-poured jar candle at ₹379 running 15–18 hours — Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings or Evening Walks, all message-free and therefore correct for a parent or an in-law; the Smoked Oudh and Sandalwood candles at ₹449, which are the cheapest genuinely luxurious register we sell; wax melts at ₹474; a car perfume at ₹449–₹509; a 3ml attar at ₹379–₹399; a solid body perfume at ₹459–₹489. What does not exist here: any reed diffuser and any machine. And the ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is not a gift — it is a water-based refill for an ultrasonic machine, and useless without one.
Use this tier when: there are many recipients, or the relationship is a courtesy one. Buy identically within a tier so nobody counts.
2
TIER TWO · ₹500–₹1,000
Considered — and the tier where the reed opens
Evening Calm reed diffuserEvening Calm₹799This is the most important tier in the range for a family, because the reed line starts inside it with room to spare: Morning Freshness ₹749, Evening Calm ₹799, Garden Bloom ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849 — each a 50ml with six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, sized to a room up to about 150 sq ft and running 6–8 weeks. Also here: the Boond machine at ₹899 with three 15ml scents included, a jar candle two-pack at ₹664, a 6ml attar at ₹669–₹699, taper candles at ₹569 and a woodenwick candle at ₹949. Four formats, four different jobs, one ceiling.
Use this tier when: the recipient is a parent, a sibling or anyone whose room you can picture. This is where most family gifts should sit.
3
TIER THREE · ₹1,000–₹1,899
Substantial — a bigger room, a longer run, or two bottles
Day and Night reed diffuser duoDay & Night duo₹1,498Three genuinely different things live here and they are not interchangeable. A 130ml reed at ₹1,249–₹1,349 is one room above 150 sq ft for 14–18 weeks — the right object for a parents' living room or entryway. A duo at ₹1,498–₹1,598 is two 50ml bottles: two rooms for 6–8 weeks each, and the only shape in the range that hands the recipient a choice, which is why it suits a sister. A 12ml attar at ₹1,149–₹1,199 is a personal fragrance rather than a room one, and the Sukoon machine at ₹1,899 covers 270–320 sq ft for 16–18 hours on low, with three 15ml scents in the box. Above this tier the range keeps going — 130ml duos at ₹2,498–₹2,598 — but for family gifting that is wedding scale, not birthday scale.
Use this tier when: you are changing a room rather than marking an occasion — or when one recipient genuinely is the reason you are shopping.

Budget across, relationship down — the method in one paragraph

Lay the tiers out horizontally and the family vertically, and almost every decision resolves itself. The horizontal axis is your ceiling; the vertical axis is what you know about the person. The mistake families make is treating the vertical axis as a hierarchy of affection — parents at the top, cousins at the bottom, everyone graded by spend — when it is really a hierarchy of information. You know exactly how your sister's flat is laid out and exactly which smells she complains about. You know less about your father's actual preferences than you think, because he has never volunteered any. And you know almost nothing about an in-law's tolerances, which is why the safest bottle in the range exists.

So spend where the information is, and be soft where it is not. Evening Calm at ₹799 is what I would send into every low-information relationship in a family: 8.9 on the strength scale, low polarisation, room-agnostic, and no cultural or memory loading of any kind — the four criteria that make a blind buy safe. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is the second-safest and the best answer for anybody described as hard to buy for, because a dry wood is the least sweet and least gendered register there is. Garden Bloom at ₹799 is superb when you know and a gamble when you do not, because anti-floral is a common and firmly held position. Fresh Brew at ₹849, at 9.5 the deepest thing we make, is the least safe blind buy in the range and the best possible gift for a coffee drinker.

And the honest counterweight, because this page displaces things people have been giving each other for generations. Sweets and food gifts are genuinely better when the family is in the same room on the same day — they are shared, they are consumed together, and that sharing is the whole event; a bottle on a shelf cannot do it. Clothing is genuinely better when you know a size and a taste, which within a family you sometimes do. Flowers are genuinely better when you will be present to hand them over and somebody else will deal with the vase. What home fragrance does that none of those do is work quietly for the next two months in a room the person is in every day, without needing to be eaten, worn, watered or displayed. It is not a better gift in the abstract. It is a better gift when the alternative is the fourth identical box.

The full ladder, ₹379 to ₹1,899

Everything a family is likely to buy, in price order, with what it is and who it suits. Candle prices are written in whole rupees. Note where the two floors sit: no reed below ₹749, no machine below ₹899.

The SOSA principle
A budget is a ceiling, not a target. Nobody searching under ₹1,000 is trying to spend ₹999 — they are trying not to be embarrassed.
Which is why this guide will happily tell you the ₹379 candle is the right answer, and equally happily tell you that ₹749 buys a different class of object.

Every honest gap at SOSA, in one place

This is the section I would read first if I were you, because it is the list of things this brand cannot do for you. Put together in one place they are not embarrassing — they are the reason the rest of the page can be trusted.

There is no reed diffuser below ₹749 and no ultrasonic machine below ₹899. Fifty millilitres of composed oil, a refillable glass bottle and six fibre reeds cannot be produced below that without cutting the carrier down to DPG, which is the cheap glycol that cracks above about 40°C and turns a diffuser bitter in an Indian May. The ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is a refill, not a gift — the hotel oils are water-based and ultrasonic-only, so it does nothing at all without a machine, and reed oil cannot go into a machine either. There is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser.

There is no gift card. No gift hamper, gift box or curated reed gift set — a duo is two bottles, and I would rather say so than let the word "set" earn something. I have no verified gift wrap, gift note or personalisation option, so plan the message yourself. There is no room spray or home spray: every SOSA spray is a car perfume. There is no oud, sandalwood, vetiver or amber reed diffuser — the reed line is five scents and none of them is a resin or a wood beyond Mountain Breeze's pine and cedar. That said, the accurate sentence is no oud reed, not no oud: the Smoked Oudh candle at ₹449, the Sandalwood candle at ₹449 and the Nawaab attar all exist and all sit in that register. There is also no verified bulk or corporate gifting arrangement of any kind. The only logistics fact I will state anywhere is that shipping is free above ₹499 — and that a single ₹379 candle does not reach it.

The gaps are the reason the recommendations are worth anything. A guide that can only say yes is an advertisement with a table in it.

SOSA Mountain Breeze pine sage cedar reed diffuser
The bottle for the hardest person in the family
Mountain Breeze · pine + sage + cedar ₹849 / 50ml
Himalayan pine over real sage with Indian cedar underneath — dry, resinous, closer to weather than to product, and at 9.4 the deepest woody we make without a gram of sugar in it. It is the bottle I send when somebody tells me a father or a brother is impossible to buy fragrance for, and the review record for it is unusually literal: a daughter gave it to her father for his study and he asked her for a second one. 6–8 weeks on the 50ml, ₹1,349 for the 130ml.

A note from Sonal

When I started writing these guides I assumed the hard part would be describing fragrance. It is not. The hard part is telling people the thing they came for does not exist at the price they came with, and doing it early enough that they are not disappointed at a product page. There is no reed diffuser under ₹749 at SOSA. There will not be one, because the only way to make one is to swap the carrier for DPG, and DPG is what makes a diffuser go bitter in a Delhi summer. So the sub-₹500 shelf is candles, wax melts, car perfumes and attars, and those are good gifts — they are simply not the one the search asked for.

The second thing I would leave you with is the older-household rule, because it is the one families get wrong most consistently. Everyone reaches for the biggest and richest version when buying for a parent, and a parent's home is more closed, more constantly occupied and calibrated over decades to smelling a particular way. Evening Calm at 8.9, with three reeds rather than six, is the gift that stays on the shelf. Six reeds in a closed bedroom is the gift that quietly moves to the balcony, and nobody will ever tell you it did.

And with siblings, stop trying to impress. They know what everything costs; they have always known. What they notice is whether you thought about their flat, their hours and the smells they have complained about for years. That costs nothing and it is the only part of a gift they cannot price. Everything we make is composed in Pune, and a portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best affordable gift for family from SOSA?
A 50ml reed diffuser at ₹749–₹849 is the default: Evening Calm ₹799 for parents and grandparents, Mountain Breeze ₹849 for a father with a study or a brother, Garden Bloom ₹799 for a sister who likes florals. Each has six fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle and runs 6–8 weeks. Below ₹749 there is no reed at all, and the honest answers become an 80g jar candle at ₹379 or a ₹449 Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh candle.
Is there a SOSA reed diffuser under ₹500?
No, and this is the constraint that shapes every page in this guide. The reed line starts at Morning Freshness ₹749 and the cheapest ultrasonic machine is the Boond at ₹899. Under ₹500 the genuine gifts are an 80g jar candle ₹379, the Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh candle ₹449, a wax melt ₹474, a car perfume ₹449–₹509, a 3ml attar ₹379–₹399 or a solid perfume ₹459–₹489. The ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is a refill for a machine, not a standalone gift.
Does SOSA have gift cards, hampers or gift wrapping?
No to all three. There is no gift card, no gift hamper, no gift box and no curated reed gift set, and I have no verified gift-wrap, gift-note or personalisation option to point you at, so I will not imply one. The duo — two 50ml bottles at ₹1,498–₹1,598 — is the only multi-item product in the reed range, and it is exactly two bottles.
Which scent is safest if I am buying for several relatives at once?
Evening Calm at ₹799. It meets all four blind-buy criteria — low strength at 8.9, low polarisation, room-agnostic and no cultural or memory loading — which is why it is the one bottle I would repeat across a family. Mountain Breeze ₹849 is the second safest. Garden Bloom ₹799 is only safe when you know the person likes florals, and Fresh Brew ₹849 at 9.5 is the least safe guess in the range.
How many reeds should each relative use, and which size do I buy?
A 50ml suits rooms up to about 150 sq ft — a bedroom, study or bathroom — and lasts 6–8 weeks; a 130ml is for rooms above that and lasts 14–18 weeks. Reed count is the volume dial: six for a living room, three or four for a bedroom, two or three in a small bathroom, where a 50ml runs close to three months. In an older household start at three regardless of room size. Flip the reeds every three to five days and keep the bottle out of the direct path of a running AC.
