Because a floor plan is two numbers short of the truth - volume is area multiplied by height, so a 14-foot ceiling turns a small floor into a large room, and the warm layer above head height stores output in the part of the volume nobody occupies

Two reasons, both arithmetic. Volume is area times height, so a 600 sq ft floor at 14 ft is the room a 900 sq ft floor would be. And the warm upper layer has no noses in it.
Quick answers — read this first
Why does fragrance seem weak in a high-ceilinged room? Because the room is bigger than the floor plan says. Volume is floor area multiplied by height, and machines are rated in cubic metres while floors are quoted in square feet.
How much difference does ceiling height make? A 600 sq ft floor at 9 ft is about 153 cubic metres. The same floor at 14 ft is about 238 cubic metres, which is roughly 55 per cent more room to fill.
What is the second reason? Stratification. Warm air rises, so in a 14-foot room more than half the volume sits above head height, and anything that reaches it is stored where nobody stands.
The short answer
Short answer: because volume is area times height. A 600 sq ft floor at 14 ft is about 238 cubic metres rather than 153, and the warm layer above head height holds output where nobody stands.
The pick: a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) mounted at head height rather than high, or a SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) once the connected volume is genuinely large.
Why does fragrance seem to disappear upward in a Narsingi business with very high ceilings?
Because two different things are happening, and both of them are arithmetic rather than a fault in the machine or the fragrance. The first is that you have been sizing the room with a number that leaves out a dimension.Every commercial space in India is described in square feet.Every diffuser in the world is rated in cubic metres. Those two numbers only agree if the ceiling is ordinary, and the conversion between them is where high-ceilinged rooms go wrong.Take a 600 sq ft reception. At a nine-foot ceiling that is 5,400 cubic feet, or roughly 153 cubic metres. The same 600 sq ft with a fourteen-foot ceiling is 8,400 cubic feet, or roughly 238 cubic metres - about 55 per cent more room to fill, in a space whose floor plan has not changed by a single square foot.Run it the other way and it is even starker.A machine rated to 1000 cubic metres covers about 3,500 sq ft of a ten-foot room and only about 2,500 sq ft of a fourteen-foot one, which is the same machine losing a thousand square feet of quoted coverage to a number nobody wrote on the drawing. So the first answer to "it seems weak" is that the room is larger than the room you specified against. The second thing is where the output actually goes, and it is the part owners find more useful because it is free to fix.Warm air rises, and in Hyderabad there is always warm air - from the glazing, from the lights, from the people, from the door every time it opens. A tall room therefore develops a layer: cooler, occupied air in the bottom five or six feet, and a warmer body of air above it that circulates on its own and mixes downward only slowly. In a fourteen-foot room, more than half the volume is above head height.Anything that reaches that layer has been delivered to the part of the building with no noses in it, and it is not coming back down on any timescale that matters to somebody sitting in reception for twenty minutes. Which explains the specific complaint. The room does not smell of nothing - it smells of nothing at seated height while the machine runs perfectly well.Three fixes follow directly, and only one of them costs money.Mount low, not high.A wall unit at roughly head height on the wall the seating faces puts output into the occupied layer instead of launching it into the warm one, and the instinct to mount high because the ceiling is high is precisely backwards.Aim across rather than up, and keep it out of the throw of an AC supply that is already driving air upward - hot glazing does the same thing on a larger scale. And size against cubic metres, not square feet, which for a genuinely large connected volume is the difference between one machine and the wrong machine. What does not work is turning the level up, because the upper layer will absorb whatever you add and the people at seated height will notice the change last.Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating: it does not remove or reduce anything in the air, it treats nothing and relieves nothing, and SOSA makes no claim that it does. A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 mounted at head height, or a SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 where the connected visitor-facing volume is genuinely large. Closed treatment rooms and consultation cabins are never scented.A named seat away from the source is kept genuinely fragrance-free and offered rather than requested. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning and housekeeping, never instead of them, and the visitor's preference overrides any plan. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

One connected visitor-facing volume above about 3,000 sq ft, on the duct
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³ - roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft - with an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB. Above about 3,000 sq ft of one connected visitor-facing volume this is the step rather than a second Vaayu, because two machines in one air mass drift apart. Critically, it goes on the supply side of the air handling that serves the visitor-facing zone only - never on a run that also feeds the treatment rooms or consultation cabins, which is the commonest way a zoning plan fails.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit. In a clinic, salon or showroom its value is control rather than reach: the key-lock holds the level the furthest waiting chair was judged to, so it survives every shift and every new receptionist, and the 1h/4h/8h/24h timer keeps it on opening hours rather than saturating an empty room overnight. Waterless, so it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on stock, mirrors, screens or displays. 400ml tank, roughly 75-90 days depending on intensity and run hours, under 38dB, wall or HVAC mount.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, ₹11,999. In a Hyderabad clinic, salon or showroom it is bought for the key-lock that holds the level the furthest seat chose, the 1h/4h/8h/24h timer that keeps it on opening hours, and a waterless output that adds no moisture in a humid month and leaves no residue on stock, mirrors or displays. Adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running roughly 75-90 days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, auto-stop, under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W. Freestanding, wall or HVAC mount. CE, RoHS and SGS certified - electrical and compliance marks only. Made in India.
Floors are sold in square feet and machines are rated in cubic metres. Above about ten feet, those two numbers stop agreeing.
1
The sum
Area times height
600 sq ft at nine feet is about 153 cubic metres. The same 600 sq ft at fourteen feet is about 238, which is 55 per cent more room and the same floor plan.
Rule: measure the ceiling before you buy.
2
Coverage
The rating loses square feet
A unit rated to 1000 cubic metres covers roughly 3,500 sq ft of a ten-foot room and about 2,500 sq ft of a fourteen-foot one. Same machine, different building.
Test: compare cubic metres with cubic metres.
3
The layer
Half the volume has no noses
Warm air from glazing, lights, people and the door rises and forms a body above the occupied zone. In a fourteen-foot room that is more than half the volume.
Rule: it mixes downward slowly, if at all.
4
Placement
Mount low in a tall room
Head height on the wall the seating faces, aimed across rather than up, and out of the throw of an AC supply that is already driving air upward.
Rule: the instinct to mount high is backwards.
5
The trap
Turning it up does not work
The upper layer absorbs whatever you add, so the people at seated height notice the change last and the running cost rises first.
Test: fix the height before the level.
The SOSA principle
In a fourteen-foot room more than half the volume sits above head height. Output that reaches it has been delivered to the only part of the building with no noses in it.
Which is why a tall room rewards mounting low and aiming across, and punishes the instinct to put the machine high because the ceiling is.
Above about 3,000 sq ft of one visitor-facing volume: SOSA Angaan, ₹25,999 - rated to 3,000m³, 800ml reservoir, programmable schedules, under 42dB. On the run that serves the visitor-facing zone only, never one that also feeds the dealing floor.
Below that line, and per separated zone: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - one per connected visitor-facing air mass, each set from its own furthest chair and key-locked; never two in one air mass sharing a guess.
One register, the visitor-facing zone only, set from the furthest seat
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 waterless, key-locked and timed to opening hours; Mountain Breeze ₹849 or Morning Freshness ₹749 as the register. Send the floor plan with the closed rooms and the entrance marked and we will return it with the placement and the fragrance-free seat.
You bought against a floor plan and the machine was rated against a volume. Somewhere above ten feet of ceiling, those two numbers quietly stopped describing the same room.

The SOSA Hyderabad specification
What goes where in a clinic, salon, showroom or office
A SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is the water-based rung for a single enclosed reception or client lounge of roughly 270-320 sq ft in a dry room, and a Boond (₹899) for a single cabin; both run on the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299), which is not reed diffuser oil and is not interchangeable with it. Above about 3,000 sq ft of one connected volume the step is one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on the duct, not a second Vaayu. Closed treatment rooms, consultation cabins and any closed one-to-one room are never scented - the person inside cannot leave and did not choose to be there - and that is achieved by placement and doors rather than by a lower setting. A named seat away from the source is kept genuinely fragrance-free and offered at the desk rather than waiting to be asked. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating: it does not remove or reduce anything in the air, it treats nothing and relieves nothing, it makes no contribution to what a visitor buys, books or decides, and it works alongside ventilation, cleaning and housekeeping, never instead of them. The visitor's preference overrides any plan.Ask for a scenting plan for your space and send the floor plan with the closed rooms and the entrance marked.

Frequently asked questions
Why does fragrance seem weak in a room with high ceilings?
Because volume is floor area multiplied by height. A 600 sq ft floor at fourteen feet is about 238 cubic metres rather than 153 at nine feet.
How much coverage does a high ceiling cost?
A unit rated to 1000 cubic metres covers roughly 3,500 sq ft of a ten-foot room and about 2,500 sq ft of a fourteen-foot one.
What is stratification in a tall room?
Warm air from glazing, lights, people and the door rises and sits above the occupied zone. In a fourteen-foot room that is more than half the volume.
Where should a machine be mounted in a high room?
At roughly head height on the wall the seating faces, aimed across rather than up, and clear of an AC supply that already drives air upward.
Should I increase the level instead?
No. The upper layer absorbs the increase, so seated visitors notice it last while the running cost rises first. Fix height and placement before level.
One duct, one level, the client zone only: SOSA Angaan, ₹25,999 - programmable schedules on the supply side of the air handling that serves reception and the waiting area, and nothing that reaches a dealing desk or a meeting-room door.
SOSA — Studio Scentingcubic metres, not square feet
A floor plan leaves out a dimension. 600 sq ft at nine feet is about 153 cubic metres; the same floor at fourteen feet is about 238, which is 55 per cent more room with an identical plan. Then warm air from glazing, lights and people forms a layer above head height that holds more than half the volume of a tall room and no noses at all. So mount at head height, aim across rather than up, keep clear of the AC throw, and size on volume. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Facts verified 9 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting roughly 75-90 days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks only. Being waterless it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on paper, screens or documents; refill supply should be confirmed with SOSA. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is a 500ml water-based ultrasonic diffuser for a single room of roughly 270-320 sq ft, and the SOSA Boond (₹899) is its compact equivalent; both use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml from ₹299, 100ml ₹999, 300ml ₹1,799), which is made for ultrasonic diffusers and is not reed diffuser oil. SOSA reed diffusers - Morning Freshness (₹749 / ₹1,249) and Mountain Breeze (₹849 / ₹1,349), or the two together as the Fresh & Grounded duo (₹1,548 / ₹2,548) - are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with a 50ml bottle lasting 6-8 weeks and a 130ml bottle 14-18 weeks. Ambient fragrance in a commercial space is an interior and hospitality decision only. SOSA makes no claim that it treats, relieves, prevents or improves any medical, dental or psychological condition, that it makes anyone feel calmer, more comfortable or more confident, that it affects recovery, patient comfort or any clinical outcome, or that it affects footfall, walk-ins, enquiries, bookings, conversions, sales, average spend, dwell time, customer retention or revenue. It does not remove or reduce any odour in the air, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning, housekeeping or fresh-air exchange - an office with a persistent smell has a source to find and fix first. Closed treatment rooms, consultation cabins and any closed one-to-one room are never scented, because the person inside cannot leave and did not choose to be there. A named seat away from the source is kept genuinely fragrance-free in the reception or waiting area and offered rather than waiting to be requested. The visitor's preference overrides any plan on this page, and where a customer, patient or member of staff is sensitive to fragrance the correct response is to reduce or switch off. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
