Yes, and this is the one place in the whole office-gifting question where a scent worn on the body becomes genuinely appropriate. But the word doing all the work in that sentence is friend, and it is used very loosely at offices. So it is worth being precise about where the line sits, because an attar given on the wrong side of it is the most awkward gift in this entire cluster.
Quick answers — read this first
Is attar an appropriate Diwali gift for an office friend? Yes, where friend is literally true: you have spent time together outside work, and you know what they already wear or they have told you. A 3ML attar is ₹379 to ₹399, 6ML ₹669 to ₹699, 12ML ₹1,149 to ₹1,199. Short of that, give the ₹1,055 trio instead.
How do I know if I am close enough to gift an attar? Two questions. Have you seen this person outside a work occasion? Do you know what they already wear, or have they told you? Two yes answers make a single attar appropriate. One or none and you want the three-attar set, where they choose.
What size attar should I gift? The 3ML at ₹379 to ₹399 is the right size for a gift, because it is a trial rather than a commitment. The 6ML at ₹669 to ₹699 and the 12ML at ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 suit somebody whose taste you are certain of.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, where friend is literally true. The test is two questions: have you seen them outside work, and do you know what they already wear. Two yes answers buys a 3ML attar at ₹379 to ₹399. Anything less buys the three-attar set at ₹1,055.
The pick: a SOSA fragrance gift - alcohol-free, useful past January, from ₹379 a head.
Bulk: send headcount, per-head budget and cities, and we will confirm what stock can actually fill.
A corporate Diwali gift works when it is useful, appropriate to a professional relationship, and actually available in the quantity you need. SOSA's fragrance range runs from Rs 379 per head to Rs 3,999 for senior gifts, alcohol-free and handmade in India.
An attar is a beautiful gift. Alcohol-free, concentrated, applied in a drop at the wrist, and it sits close to the skin rather than filling a room. A 3ML is ₹379, a Mastani₹389, a Nawaab₹399, and the 6ML sizes run ₹669 to ₹699. It is also the most personal thing on the SOSA shelf, because it is worn, and because choosing one for somebody is a small claim about how well you know them.
So the test is about that claim, and it has two parts.
One: have you spent time with this person outside work, on something that was not a work occasion? Not an office Diwali party, not a team offsite, not a farewell dinner. A meal you both chose to go to. A wedding. Their home, or yours. If yes, you are past the first gate.
Two: do you know what they already wear, or have they told you? This is the one that matters most, and it is much more specific than knowing they like fragrance. Has there been a conversation where they named something? Have you been close enough, often enough, to notice? If yes, you are past the second gate, and a single attar chosen for them is now a lovely gift rather than a presumption.
Clear both gates and buy the single attar with confidence. A 3ML at ₹379 to ₹399 is the right size, because it is a trial rather than a commitment, and if it lands they will tell you.
Clear one, or neither, and the honest move is not to give up on attar. It is to give the three-attar set at ₹1,055, which is three full 3ML bottles: Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Same category, same materials, same pleasure, and the choice ends up with the person who has the information. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: two gates - time together outside work, and knowing what they already wear. Both open, buy the single attar; either shut, buy the ₹1,055 trio.
For a whole team that commutes, the honest starting point is a hanging car perfume at ₹449 - useful, gift-ready, and stocked in the thousands. For managers, a reed diffuser from ₹749.
Office friend covers everything from somebody you have lunch with to somebody who was at your wedding, so the line has to be drawn on evidence rather than on warmth.
1
Outside work
Time together that nobody organised for you
The first gate is simply whether you have chosen each other's company when there was no meeting attached. Work throws people together and that closeness is real, but it is situational, and a worn scent assumes something more durable than proximity. If the answer is that you have only ever met in a building your employer pays for, the three-attar set at ₹1,055 is the right version of this gift.
Tip: Office parties and offsites do not count. Somebody else organised those.
2
What they wear
Named, or noticed over time - not guessed
This is the gate that actually decides it. Knowing what somebody already wears is the difference between a gift that fits into a routine and a gift that asks them to change one. If they have named something, or you have been around them enough to know, a single 3ML attar at ₹379 is a well-aimed present. If you are reconstructing it from an impression, you are guessing, and a guess worn on the body is the expensive kind.
3
Everything short of that
The trio, and why it is not a consolation prize
The three-attar set at ₹1,055 is three complete 3ML attars, not samples, and at that price it reads as the more generous gift anyway. It also says something quite nice: I wanted you to have an attar, and I wanted you to pick it. That is a better sentence than a confident guess, and it is the honest one for most office friendships. For somebody you would not describe as a friend at all, stay off the body entirely - a reed diffuser at ₹749 or a car perfume at ₹449.
Tip: The trio is the answer for everything short of both gates, and it is not a downgrade.
The SOSA principle
An attar is a lovely gift and a small claim about closeness. Give it where the claim is already true, and give the trio everywhere else.
The test is not how fond you are of somebody. It is whether you hold a specific piece of information about what they already wear, which is a much narrower and much more honest question.
What to give, by what you actually know
Two gates, four outcomes, and a clear gift at each one.
The SOSA gifting edit
What to give an office friend, by what you actually know
Option
Who it suits, and what it costs
Both gates open
A single 3ML attar at ₹379 to ₹399, or the 6ML at ₹669 to ₹699 if you are certain. A trial size is the confident choice, not the timid one.
You see them outside work, but do not know their taste
The three-attar set at ₹1,055. Three full 3ML bottles, and the pick is theirs.
A real work friendship, but only ever at work
The trio at ₹1,055, or stay off the body with a reed diffuser at ₹799.
If the honest answer to both gates is no and you are wondering whether worn scent is ever appropriate at an office, Is perfume too personal takes that question apart properly. If you want a gift that skips the whole question, Reed diffuser vs perfume explains why the room usually wins. The full attar range starts at ₹379.

Every SOSA gift is alcohol-free, long-lasting and ready to hand over, handmade in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by budget tier and by who the gift is for.
The SOSA corporate Diwali gift edit
Five tiers that cover a whole company - from a ₹379 attar to a ₹3,999 executive gift
Waterless car diffuser - the executive gift that is actually in stock
₹3,999
Two honest notes. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil; the Hotel Collection is a separate water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal
Most corporate Diwali gifts fail for the same reason: they are chosen to be defensible rather than useful. A box of sweets nobody eats, dry fruits that go into a cupboard. The gift is not really for the employee - it is for the person signing it off.
The test I would apply is simple. Will this still be in use in February? A car fragrance in the car of someone who drives to work every day passes that test. So does a reed diffuser in a home office. A body-worn perfume chosen for someone you do not know well does not, because fragrance worn on skin is personal - choosing it for a colleague is a comment on how they smell, and most people quietly do not wear it.
Two honest things I would rather say than sell past. If your budget is genuinely under Rs 350 a head, fragrance is the wrong category - buy something else and come back next year. And if you need three hundred of something we hold ninety of, we will tell you, because a Diwali gift that arrives in December is worse than no gift at all. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.
Frequently asked questions
Is attar an appropriate Diwali gift for an office friend?
Yes, where the friendship is real outside the building and you know what they already wear. A 3ML attar is ₹379 to ₹399 and is the right size for a gift. Where either of those conditions is missing, the three-attar set at ₹1,055 is the better version of the same idea.
How close do I need to be to give someone an attar?
Close enough to have spent time together away from work that nobody else organised, and close enough to know what they already wear. Those two facts are the line. Fondness alone is not enough, because a worn scent asks somebody to change a daily routine.
What attar size should I gift?
The 3ML at ₹379 to ₹399. It is a trial rather than a commitment, which is the right register for a gift, and it costs about what a decent box of sweets costs. The 6ML at ₹669 to ₹699 and the 12ML at ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 suit somebody whose taste you are sure of.
Is a set better than a single attar?
For most office friendships, yes. The three-attar set at ₹1,055 contains three complete 3ML bottles rather than samples, so it is a more generous gift, and it puts the choice with the person who knows their own taste.
What if my office friend does not wear fragrance?
Some people do not, for reasons that are entirely their own. If you are not certain, keep it off the body - a reed diffuser at ₹749 or a car perfume at ₹449 gives the same thought without asking anything of them, and nobody has to explain themselves.
Alcohol-free attars from ₹379, and the three-attar set at ₹1,055 for when the choice should be theirs. Handmade in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
