Does a guest wing need its own machine? No. A wing is a corridor with closed doors off it, not a connected volume, so a machine there serves a passage nobody sits in. Those rooms need a reed each.
What about a top floor of bedrooms only? It does not need a machine either. Bedrooms are behind doors, so the machine would only serve the landing, which a single reed does adequately.
One per floor, and the guest wing is not a floor
At villa scale the counting rule does not change, but the ways of misapplying it multiply, so it is worth restating the rule and then naming the three mistakes that cost the most money. The rule is one machine per connected volume. A connected volume is a body of air genuinely joined together with no closed door between its parts. At 2,500 to 3,000 square feet a floor is usually one such volume, provided the plan lives open, which is worth verifying by walking the ground floor at an ordinary hour and counting the closed doors between living, dining, the passage and the foot of the stairs. So the typical answers are one for a single-level home and two for a duplex: the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 for an open ground plane, and a smaller unit such as the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 for an upper level that is a genuine living space. Now the first and most expensive mistake, which is treating a wing like a floor. Homes at this size often have a guest wing, a bedroom corridor, or a separate section reached through a passage. It looks on a plan like a region of the house that needs its own coverage, and the instinct is to give it a machine. That instinct is wrong for a structural reason: a wing is not a connected volume, it is a corridor with closed doors off it. A machine placed there is serving the passage, which nobody sits in, while every room it was bought to serve stays sealed behind a door that no machine crosses at any price. The correct provision for a wing is a reed diffuser in each room - one per bedroom at the lightest level in the house, one per bathroom - and nothing in the corridor at all, or at most a single bottle. This is a much smaller purchase and a genuinely better result. The second mistake is counting floors rather than volumes. A three-storey house of this size often has a top level that is bedrooms only, reached by a landing. That level does not need a machine either, because the bedrooms are behind doors and the only thing a machine there could serve is the landing itself. A single reed handles a landing adequately. So a three-storey 3,000 square foot house is very often still two machines rather than three, and sometimes one. The test is not how many floors exist but how many of them contain a connected volume that people actually occupy. The third mistake is trying to reach one floor from another. A stairwell behaves as a chimney and carries warm air upward continuously, which is why an upper landing frequently smells faintly of the ground floor with nothing placed there. That is a real effect and it is useful, and it is a good argument for keeping one register throughout the house rather than different scents per floor, since two registers meeting in a stairwell produce a third that nobody chose. But it is a weak, one-way connection rather than shared air, and raising the ground floor unit to feed the first floor simply overdoses the ground floor - which the household cannot perceive, since everybody there adapted within the hour - while delivering almost nothing above. Give the upper level its own small source instead. So the honest total for a home of this size is one or two machines and eight to ten bottles, and the bottles are the majority of the setup by count. They are also where a disproportionate share of the perceived value sits, which is the point most worth internalising at villa scale. The entrance is the highest-value single position in the house, because everybody who lives there has adapted and perceives very little, so walking in from outside is the only moment anybody experiences the home properly - and that position should have a permanent source that works whether or not a cycle ran or the power is on. The guest washroom is the room visitors actually remember, because it is the one place somebody is alone and unhurried and forming a private view of the household. Neither of those is served by any machine, at any price, and both are served perfectly by a bottle at Rs 749 to Rs 849 that needs nothing done to it for three to four months. Finally, the standing exclusions, which do not soften with size or budget. The kitchen gets nothing at any time. Children's rooms get nothing. Covered terraces, balconies and verandahs cannot hold fragrance because the air exchanges continuously with the outside, and homes at this size usually have several of them. And nothing here substitutes for extraction used every single time with the kitchen door shut, which matters more in a large house because cooking smell travels further and settles into far more soft furnishing.
The villa count
The villa count. The open ground plane, verified with a closed-door walk: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - or the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank where the plan is only partly open. An upper level that is a genuine living space: the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799. An upper level that is bedrooms and a landing: no machine, just a reed on the landing. A guest wing or bedroom corridor, which is not a connected volume at all: a reed diffuser in each room and nothing in the corridor - one per bedroom at the lightest level in the house from a source the occupant can move or cap, one per bathroom. Never an attempt to feed an upper floor from below, since a stairwell carries only a weak one-way trace and raising the ground unit overdoses the level you are standing on. Reeds: Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. The two highest-value positions in the house, both on bottles and both permanent rather than scheduled: the entrance, with a reed or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799, and the guest washroom. Honest total at this size: one or two machines and eight to ten bottles. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents, with a spare kept in a cupboard. Keep one register throughout rather than different scents per floor, since two registers meeting in a stairwell produce a third nobody chose. This is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic diffusers and is not reed diffuser oil; the two are not interchangeable. Never scented: the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, children's rooms, and covered terraces, balconies and verandahs. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
