What sell-through should I expect? We will not give you a number. It depends on your property, your rate, your guest mix and how the front desk presents it, and any figure quoted without that is invented.
How do I start? Start small on one register and one or two sizes, measure for a quarter, and expand from what actually sells rather than from a projection.
Three sizes, one register, and no forecast from us
We will publish everything we charge in this article, because a hotel building a retail programme should be able to model it without a meeting, and because the number that most affects the outcome is one we cannot honestly supply. Start with the prices. The Hotel Collection comes in three sizes: 15ml at Rs 299, 100ml at Rs 999 and 300ml at Rs 1,799, and it is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic machines. Reeds are Rs 749 to Rs 849 and use alcohol-free reed oil, giving three to four months from a bottle, with refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Machines are Rs 799 for a Boond, Rs 1,799 for a Sukoon and Rs 3,499 for a Megh with a 6L tank. Volume pricing is quoted against your expected volumes and your zone list on WhatsApp. Those are the inputs; the retail prices you set are yours, and the margin structure follows from the two. Now what to stock, which is a shorter list than most people expect. One register - the one actually running in your building, with no exceptions for availability or margin, because the entire mechanism of hotel fragrance retail is that the guest has been living inside the product for three days, and an approximation breaks it at the moment it is opened at home. Three sizes of that register. The 15ml at Rs 299 does two jobs: it is the in-room sample, small enough to go into a suitcase without a decision being made, and it is the retail entry point for a guest who wants to try rather than commit. The 100ml at Rs 999 is the main line and should be the one visible at reception, because it is the size a guest who has decided actually wants. The 300ml at Rs 1,799 serves the guest who has decided firmly, and it is also the right size to offer to corporate clients, wedding parties and repeat guests. Then a reed at Rs 749 to Rs 849, in the same register, for the substantial proportion of guests who have no ultrasonic diffuser at home and are not going to buy one. This is the item most hotel programmes miss, and it matters, because the honest answer to a guest who asks whether they can use the bottle at home is that the Hotel Collection is water-based for machines and reed oil is a different product for reeds, and reed oil must never go into a machine because it can damage it. A guest without a machine who buys a bottle they cannot use is a small avoidable disappointment that costs you more than the sale. Offer both, label them clearly, and train the desk to ask one question: do you have a diffuser at home? Now the part we will not do, and the reason is worth stating plainly rather than buried. We will not tell you what proportion of your guests will buy. Sell-through in this category depends on your room rate, your guest mix, average stay length, whether guests are on business or leisure, where the display physically sits, whether the item is in the room at all, whether there is a card explaining what it is, and whether your front desk says the single sentence that makes the sale - that this is what you have been smelling since Tuesday. Change any one of those and the number moves substantially. Any supplier who offers you a conversion percentage without knowing all of them has produced it from nothing, and it will be optimistic, because an optimistic number is what closes an order. We would rather you start small and find out. So the practical approach for a first quarter. Choose one register, stock the 15ml and the 100ml only, put the 15ml in a defined set of rooms rather than all of them, place a display at reception where guests are already standing still, write the card, and brief the desk on the two sentences. Measure for a full quarter, because a fortnight tells you nothing and seasonality is real. Then expand into the sizes and the reed based on what actually moved, and use your own numbers to negotiate volume pricing with us rather than committing to volumes before you know. Three operational points that affect the economics more than the pricing does. First, placement beats stock depth: a display at reception or in the lift lobby, where the register is running and the guest is standing still, converts better than a well-stocked shelf in a boutique on the mezzanine, because this purchase is made in the moment of noticing rather than in the moment of shopping. Second, the card in the room is the highest-leverage item in the whole programme and costs almost nothing, because ambient fragrance works by not demanding attention, so a guest who has enjoyed your building for three days will not connect that to a bottle unless somebody tells them. Third, do not raise your ambient levels to drive retail. It does not work, and it damages the thing being sold: the test of a hotel register is deniability, meaning that if a guest could accurately describe your fragrance after a stay it was set too high, and a hotel that smells like a shop has traded its own coherence for a small number of bottles. On the seven registers - Quiet Luxury, with white tea, bergamot and cedar; White Tea Serenity, with white tea, aloe and cedar; Forest Suite, with cedarwood, vetiver and green leaves; Tea Garden, with jasmine, green tea and white tea; Warm Welcome, with citrus, floral and sandalwood; Old-World Glamour, with amber, violet and woods; and Lobby Bar, with citrus, pepper and amber - all are SOSA's own interpretations. We make seven registers rather than bespoke ones, and we would rather say that plainly than imply a service we do not offer. We are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand, which is a sentence your front desk should be able to repeat because retail customers ask what they are buying. We make no therapeutic, medical or wellness claims of any kind, and SOSA ambient fragrance is for the air of a room only, so retail material should not suggest it aids sleep, calms anybody or does anything to a body. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali, which is worth stating at the point of sale because guests respond to it and because it is true.
Every price is published. Sell-through is yours to discover
We will publish everything we charge, because a hotel should be able to model this without a meeting. Volume pricing is quoted against your expected volumes on WhatsApp. Stock one register - the one running in your building, with no exception for availability or margin - in three sizes, plus a reed for the substantial proportion of guests who have no machine at home and will not buy one. That last item is the one most programmes miss, and it matters because the honest answer to a guest asking whether the bottle works at home depends entirely on what they own. What we will not do is forecast your sell-through, because it depends on your rate, guest mix, stay length, display placement and whether the front desk says the one sentence that makes the sale.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer). Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing and branding are quoted on WhatsApp. The Hotel Collection and hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel or perfume house named for comparison.
