An experience centre on two floors is not a big showroom. It is two showrooms stacked, with a staircase between them that carries people and almost no air. Two floors are two volumes, two volumes are two machines, and the only thing they must share is the scent.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I fragrance a two-floor appliance experience centre? As two separate volumes of air. A floor slab with a stair is not a shared body of air - the ground floor's fragrance does not climb the stairs in any useful quantity and the upper floor's does not come down - so each floor takes its own machine, mounted high on its own supply wall, with its own level set from its own far point. Both machines carry the same scent, because a visitor climbing the stairs is walking through one house, not two shops.
Is it ever one machine for both floors? Only when a single air-handling plant serves both sales floors and nothing else - no live kitchen, no coffee counter, no office - and whoever maintains that plant confirms the duct and the access point. Then one SOSA Angaan connected to that duct can do both floors. An open double-height void between the floors is a different case: that is one tall volume, sized by area times height, and one machine placed at grille height.
Which machines, and what do they cost? Two SOSA Vaayus at Rs 11,999 each for two ordinary floors of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft apiece, waterless, wall-mounted, each on its own timer and key-lock. One SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999 where one plant serves both sales floors alone. A Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 on the desk of a small upper-floor studio. Fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music - SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance.
The short answer
Short answer: a two-floor centre is two volumes of air: one machine per floor, the same scent on both, each level set from that floor's own far point, each on its own timer. One machine for both only where a single plant serves both sales floors alone, confirmed by whoever maintains it; an open void between floors makes one tall volume instead.
The pick: two SOSA Vaayus (₹11,999 each) for two ordinary floors, one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) HVAC-connected where one plant serves both sales floors and nothing else, a Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) for a small upper-floor studio or a closed designer room.
Next step: send both floor plans with the stair, any void, the AC grilles and the live kitchen marked - ask for a showroom scenting plan and we will say whether it is two machines or one.
How should a two-floor appliance experience centre be fragranced?
As two rooms that happen to share a staircase. That is the whole answer and everything else is detail, so begin with why. Fragrance travels with air, and the air on one floor of a building does not travel to the other in any quantity that matters. A stair is a narrow opening with a strong updraught of warm air on a hot afternoon and almost none on a mild morning, and either way the volume it moves between floors is a fraction of what each floor's own air-conditioning is moving within the floor. So a machine on the ground floor does not scent the upper one, and an owner who has tried it knows the result: the stairwell smells faintly of cedar, the upper displays smell of nothing, and the ground floor has been turned up to compensate until the advisor at the desk complains. Two floors are two volumes of air, and one volume takes one machine. Each floor gets its own source, mounted high on the wall that floor's supply grilles cross, away from that floor's returns, above that floor's partitions, exactly as where the machine goes on a central-AC floor describes for a single level. Each level is set separately, from that floor's own far point, with the team who stand there, at five in the afternoon, and locked. The upper floor will often take a slightly different setting from the ground floor even with an identical machine - it may be warmer, it may have a different mix of glass and wood, it may have no street door and therefore no draught - and that is fine. The setting is per floor; the scent is not. The same scent on both floors, without exception. A visitor who climbs the stairs is walking through one building that has been designed as one home, and two registers make the upper floor a different shop. One signature scent vs multiple zones is the pillar on why, and the short version is that two scents in one building make a third that nobody chose at the landing. Now the two cases where the arithmetic changes. First, the shared plant. If a single air-handling unit serves both sales floors and nothing else - no live kitchen, no coffee counter, no back office on the same duct - then one SOSA Angaan connected to that duct can carry one scent to both floors from one reservoir. The condition is absolute and it is not ours to confirm: whoever maintains your plant says which duct serves what and where an access point is possible, and SOSA gives no engineering advice. Where that confirmation cannot be had, two wall-mounted SOSA Vaayus are the honest plan and usually the better one. Second, the void. Some experience centres cut a double-height opening through the slab with the upper floor as a gallery around it. That is not two floors; it is one tall volume, sized by area times height, and high ceilings is the page that does the sum. One machine at grille height serves it, and a closed room off the gallery is a separate small volume with a reed on the desk. Machine and price: two Vaayus at ₹11,999 each, one Angaan at ₹25,999 on a confirmed shared plant, a Mountain Breeze reed for the small upper-floor room. And the frame: fragrance is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. The live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented on whichever floor they sit. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and send both plans with the stair and any void marked.
Two floors are two volumes of air: one machine per floor, the same scent on both, each level set from that floor's own far point and locked. Two Vaayus (Rs 11,999 each) for two ordinary floors; one Angaan (Rs 25,999) only where one plant serves both sales floors alone, confirmed by whoever maintains it. An open void between floors is one tall volume instead.
For each ordinary floor of roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, 1000m³, wall-mounted on that floor's supply wall, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999. Two floors, two machines, one scent.
Two honest configurations for two floors, decided by whether the plant is shared and confirmed. The images link to the product pages so every figure here can be checked directly.
One per floor - two ordinary floors of about 1,500-3,000 sq ft each
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ on one unit, Rs 11,999. Two units, one per floor, each wall-mounted high on its own supply side; each with its own adjustable intensity set from that floor's far point and its own key-lock; each on its own 1h/4h/8h/24h timer so the floor with the live kitchen can switch off for a demo while the other runs; under 38dB; no water, no residue.
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³ - roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft - Rs 25,999, 800ml reservoir, programmable schedules, under 42dB. Connected to the shared duct only after whoever maintains the plant has confirmed it serves both sales floors alone; if it also feeds the live kitchen, the coffee counter or an office, it is two Vaayus instead.
1000m³ on a single unit, Rs 11,999, wall or HVAC mount, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock, under 38dB. Two of them, one per floor, on the same scent at two independently set levels, is the standard two-floor plan. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.
Five decisions a two-floor centre forces, in order. The first is about counting volumes, the middle three are about keeping the two floors honest with each other, and the last is about the plant.
1
Count the volumes
A slab with a stair is two - a void is one
Stand at the top of the stairs on a hot afternoon and you will feel warm air rising past you; that is the most air a staircase ever moves between floors, and it is a trickle against what each floor's AC is circulating. So the count is simple: a floor slab with a stair, an escalator or a lift is two volumes of air, and two volumes take two machines. The exception is a genuine void - a double-height opening cut through the slab with the upper floor as a gallery around it. Air moves freely across that opening, and it makes the two floors one tall volume, sized by area times height and served by one machine at grille height. High ceilings does the sum. A closed room off either floor - a designer studio, a meeting room with its own split unit - is a third small volume and takes a Mountain Breeze reed on the desk, not a share of the floor's machine. How to calculate scent-machine requirements is the counting method for the whole building.
Rule: if you cannot see the floor below from the floor above, it is two volumes.
2
One scent
The same register on both floors, without exception
The two machines share nothing except the fragrance in their tanks, and that they must share exactly. A visitor moves between floors in a minute; if the ground floor is cedar and sage and the upper floor is lemon and mint, the landing smells of both and the upper floor reads as a different business. The best two-floor centres are designed as one home across two levels - kitchens below, living and laundry above, or the reverse - and the air should say the same thing everywhere. One signature scent vs multiple zones is the full argument. The temptation to give the upper floor its own character usually comes from a difference in finishes: darker wood upstairs, white lacquer down. Resist it. Choose the register for the floor with the harder surfaces and let both floors carry it; a slightly different level per floor is the only variation the plan allows.
Rule: one bottle, two machines. The register is decided once for the building.
Mountain Breeze - pine, sage and cedar - is the register most two-floor centres settle on for both levels.
Set from each floor's own far point - they will differ
Identical machines on identical settings will not give identical floors. The upper floor is often warmer, has no street door and therefore no threshold draught, and may have more glass or less; the ground floor has the entrance, the reception desk and usually the live kitchen. So each floor's level is set on its own: from that floor's far point, at five in the afternoon, with the advisors who stand on that floor, noticed at the first display and forgotten by the specification table. The upper floor frequently ends up a notch below the ground floor because it holds its air better. Then each Vaayu is locked separately. The mistake is to set the ground floor and copy the number upstairs; the second mistake is to set the upper floor from the landing, where the ground floor's stairwell trace confuses the reading. How strong fragrance should be inside an experience centre is the level test in full.
Rule: two level tests, two afternoons if necessary, two locks. Never one number copied to both.
4
Placement per floor
Each floor has its own supply, return, partitions and door
Every placement rule in this family applies to each floor separately. The ground-floor machine goes high on the wall the ground-floor supply crosses, away from the ground-floor returns, above the partition line of the ground-floor display kitchens, inward from the street door. The upper-floor machine goes high on the wall the upper-floor supply crosses, away from its returns and above its partitions, and it has no door to worry about but often has a lift lobby, which is a small draught of its own. The stairwell is not a position for either machine: it is a chimney on a hot day and a dead pocket on a cool one, and a source there serves neither floor. Do partition walls change fragrance distribution and a long, narrow showroom cover the shapes each floor might take. Nothing goes inside a display kitchen on either level.
Rule: the stairwell is never the position. It belongs to neither floor.
5
The plant
One machine for both floors only on a confirmed shared duct
Some centres are built with one air-handling unit serving both floors, and then the question is whether one Angaan in the duct can do the work of two Vaayus. It can, on one condition that SOSA cannot check from a plan: the duct serves both sales floors and nothing else. If the same run feeds the live kitchen, the coffee counter, a home-theatre demo room or the office, the demonstration zones are scented from behind the ceiling with no timer that can stop it, and the plan is two wall-mounted Vaayus instead. Whoever maintains your plant confirms the duct, the access point and whether the mount is acceptable to them; SOSA gives no engineering advice and does not touch ductwork. And on the merchandise on either floor, the one thing SOSA will say: no claim about what fragrance does to any appliance or finish; the product fact is that a waterless machine adds no moisture and leaves no residue.
The Angaan carries one scent to two floors from one reservoir - only on a duct that serves both sales floors alone, confirmed by the plant's own maintainer.
A two-floor centre is one home on two levels: two bodies of air, two machines, two level tests, and exactly one scent, so that the stairs change the floor and not the building.
Count the volumes. Place per floor. Set per floor. Share only the register.
One per floor, same scent, own lock: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 each, waterless, wall-mounted on each floor's supply wall, timer and key-lock, up to 1000m³ per floor.
Floor by floor: what each level carries and what it never does
Here is a typical two-floor experience centre laid out level by level. Mark the stair, any void, the grilles and the live kitchen on both plans and most of the decisions make themselves.

Nothing. The demonstration owns its air; that floor's machine is off on the timer during a demo while the other floor's keeps running; extraction clears afterwards.

The SOSA two-floor specification
One machine per floor, one scent per building, one level test per level
Each ordinary floor of ~1,500-3,000 sq ft - two units for two floors
Waterless, 1000m³, wall or HVAC mount on each floor's supply wall, 1h/4h/8h/24h timer per floor, adjustable intensity per floor, key-lock, under 38dB, 90+ days a fill
A void between the floors makes one tall volume, sized by area times height, and takes one machine at grille height instead of two. The four 100ml bottles in each Vaayu box are the supply; confirm refill availability with SOSA before you plan on it. Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any appliance or finish. It works alongside ventilation, cleaning and extraction, never instead of them. The live kitchen and coffee counter stay unscented on whichever floor they sit.Ask for a showroom scenting plan and send both floor plans.

A note from Sonal
Two-floor centres send me the ground-floor plan and ask which machine, and I ask for the other plan before I answer, because the answer is almost always two. An owner who has been running one machine on the ground floor for a year tells me the stairwell smells of it and the upper floor does not, and that they have been turning it up. The advisor at the ground-floor desk could have told them that a year ago. A staircase carries people. It does not carry fragrance in any quantity worth planning around.
So the plan is a Vaayu on each floor, on the wall each floor's own supply crosses, set separately from each floor's own far point and locked separately, and the same bottle in both. I am strict about the same bottle. Owners want the upper floor to have its own character, usually because it is finished differently, and I say the building has one character and the floors are rooms in it. If there is one plant serving both sales floors and nothing else, and whoever maintains it confirms that, an Angaan in the duct does both from one reservoir; I give no engineering advice on the duct, and if the kitchen is on the same run it is two Vaayus.
A closed room upstairs - a designer studio with its own split unit - gets a Mountain Breeze reed on the sideboard in the same register, not a share of the floor's machine. And the frame around every plan: no claim that fragrance moves dwell time, footfall or sales, and no claim about what it does to anything on display. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music, alongside ventilation and extraction, never instead of them, and the live kitchen stays unscented on whichever floor it sits. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Can one SOSA Vaayu on the ground floor scent the upper floor of my experience centre as well?
No. A staircase moves people between floors and only a trickle of air, so the ground-floor machine reaches the stairwell faintly and the upper displays not at all; turning it up over-scents the ground floor without changing that. Each floor is its own volume of air and takes its own machine: two SOSA Vaayus at Rs 11,999 each, one on each floor's supply wall, each with its own level set from that floor's far point and its own key-lock.
Should the two floors of an appliance showroom have different fragrances?
No. The two machines share exactly one thing, the scent, and that they must share without exception. A visitor moves between floors in a minute; two registers meet at the landing as a third that nobody chose, and the upper floor reads as a different shop. The level may differ per floor - the upper floor often takes a notch less because it has no street door - but the register is decided once for the building and both machines carry it.
When is one SOSA Angaan the right choice for a two-floor experience centre instead of two Vaayus?
Only when a single air-handling plant serves both sales floors and nothing else, and whoever maintains that plant has confirmed the duct and the access point. Then one Angaan at Rs 25,999 in the shared duct carries one scent to both floors from one reservoir. If the same run also feeds the live kitchen, the coffee counter, a demo room or an office, the demonstration zones would be scented from behind the ceiling, and the plan is two wall-mounted Vaayus instead.
My experience centre has an open double-height void with a gallery upstairs - is that still two floors?
Not to the air. A genuine void through the slab lets air move freely between the levels, so the gallery and the floor below are one tall volume, sized by multiplying the area by the full height and served by one machine mounted at supply-grille height on the main floor. A closed room off the gallery with its own split unit is a separate small volume and takes a Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 on the sideboard in the same register.
How do I set the fragrance level separately for each floor of a two-floor showroom?
Set each floor on its own, from that floor's far point, at five in the afternoon, with the advisors who stand on that floor: noticed at the first display, forgotten by the specification table, un-nameable at the desk. Never copy the ground-floor number upstairs, and never judge the upper floor from the landing, where the stairwell trace from below confuses the reading. Lock each Vaayu separately once its level is found; the upper floor usually ends up a notch below.
One per floor, on each floor's supply wall, locked separately: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 each, waterless, wall-mounted, timer and key-lock.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 7 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification - electrical and compliance marks. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or displays; the four 100ml bottles in the box are the supply, and refill availability should be confirmed with SOSA. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB; the SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) is the HVAC machine for 12,000-18,000 sq ft. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is a 500ml water-based ultrasonic diffuser for a single room of roughly 270-320 sq ft. SOSA reed diffusers - Mountain Breeze (₹849 / ₹1,349) and Morning Freshness (₹749 / ₹1,249), or the two together as the Fresh & Grounded duo (₹1,548 / ₹2,548) - are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with a 50ml bottle lasting 6-8 weeks and a 130ml bottle 14-18 weeks. Ambient fragrance in a showroom is an interior and hospitality decision: SOSA makes no claim that it changes dwell time, footfall, conversion, basket size, sales or any other business number, no claim about what it does to any appliance, surface or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. Warranty, installation, service and bulk terms are confirmed with SOSA directly. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel or appliance brand named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
