A whole-home plan is one register at several intensities, assembled in order of what each room returns.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I build a whole-home fragrance plan room by room? One register throughout, varied by intensity, assembled in order of return: entrance and guest bathroom first, then the connected living volume, then bedrooms and closed rooms - with four rooms excluded.

Why one register? Because two scents meet in doorways many times a day and the brain reads the collision as something being wrong. Intensity, not scent, is what should vary between rooms.

Which rooms get nothing? The kitchen at any time, children's rooms, covered terraces and balconies which cannot hold fragrance at all, and staff quarters and utility areas.
The short answer
Short answer: One register, varied by intensity, ordered by return - entrance and bathroom first, four rooms excluded.
The pick: the SOSA Safar (₹3,999) as the flagship delivery gift; volume gifts from ₹299; reed diffusers from ₹749; the Vaayu (₹11,999) for your own premises.
Planning volumes? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 - tell us the customer moment, per-unit band and quantity and we will quote and build the programme.
Customer gifting that compounds - the SOSA method at a glanceStep 1 - gift the moment: delivery day, possession, checkout, milestone purchaseStep 2 - set the per-unit band: ₹299 to ₹3,999 by customer valueStep 3 - brand the gesture: your card, your story, our fragranceStep 4 - pilot small, then scale to 50, 100, 500 unitsWhatsApp the bulk desk for volume pricing
A customer gift works when it survives the drive home - sweets vanish in a day and keychains join a drawer, but a fragrance is used daily in the customer's own car or living room, replaying your brand at every use. The method: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, brand the gesture with your card, pilot and scale. This guide walks the exact play, with real SOSA options at every band.
Straight answer
How do I build a whole-home fragrance plan room by room?
One register, many intensities, assembled in order of return. Rule one: a single register throughout, varied by level rather than by scent - two scents meet in doorways many times a day and the brain reads the collision as something being wrong. A bathroom behind a shut door is the one exception. Rule two: intensity runs inversely to exposure time. Now the order. First, the entrance and the guest bathroom. These two return more than the rest of the house combined, because they are the only positions read by an unadapted nose - a guest arriving, and anybody entering a small enclosed room from other air. Both take reeds from Rs 749, and both can run fuller than anywhere else because nobody stays. Second, the connected living volume, at a moderate level, set for the family who sit in it rather than the visitor who passes through. One machine covers it, because a machine cannot cross a closed door. Third, bedrooms and closed rooms, at the lowest levels in the house - the master lowest of all, eight unbroken hours. And four rooms get nothing, deliberately: the kitchen at any time, children's rooms, covered terraces, and staff or utility areas. Hotel Collection from ₹299, Vaayu ₹11,999, reeds from ₹749. Assemble it in the order that returns the most first

A whole-home plan is simpler than it looks, because it is one register at several intensities rather than a series of separate decisions, and because the rooms sort themselves into a clear order of return. Two rules govern the whole thing. The first is one register throughout the home, varied by intensity rather than by scent. Doors open, air moves, and two adjacent registers meet in hallways and doorways many times a day - the brain reads that collision as something being wrong without identifying why, and the wrongness costs more than either individual choice contributed. A single register at four different intensities reads as coherent and considered; four registers at the same intensity reads as a house decorated by four different people. The one recognised exception is a bathroom behind a closed door, which is enclosed enough to carry a slightly crisper version without colliding with anything, and even there stay within the same family. The second rule is that intensity runs inversely to exposure time. The longer somebody is in a room, the lower it should be set, because long exposure is what turns any register from pleasant into wearing, and because the people with the longest exposure are the ones least able to judge it - everybody adapts to a steady background within about an hour. Now the assembly order, which should follow return rather than the sequence of rooms on a plan. First: the entrance and the guest bathroom. These two positions return more than the entire rest of the house combined, and if a budget will only stretch to two, these are the two. The reason is that they are the only positions in a home read by an unadapted nose. A guest arriving at the front door has just come from outside air, and the first six seconds establish what kind of house this is. A bathroom is small, enclosed and entered from the air of another room, so it resets an adapted nose on every entry, for everybody, permanently - it is the only room in the house that visitors and residents both read accurately. Both are served perfectly well by reeds at Rs 749 to Rs 849, and both can be run fuller than anywhere else, because nobody stays in either for long. Second: the connected living volume - living, dining and circulation. One machine serves it, because a machine distributes through connected moving air and cannot cross a closed door, so the whole open area is a single zone regardless of its size. Set it at a moderate level, and set it for the family who sit in it every evening rather than for the visitor who passes through, because the arrival job is already done at the entrance. The Vaayu at Rs 11,999 suits a large volume - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 square metres or roughly 10,700 square feet, with Bluetooth app and timer control, which is what makes a low continuous setting practical. The Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank suits a substantial area, the Sukoon at Rs 1,799 a single closed living room and the Boond at Rs 799 a small one. In the dining part of that volume, remember that fragrance competes with food, so schedule it to run before a meal and taper during. Third: bedrooms and closed rooms, at the lowest levels in the house. The master bedroom is the lowest of all - eight unbroken hours a night, two people, neither of whom can leave - and it takes a neutral register that neither partner chose, with a physical off switch rather than an app-only one. A guest bedroom takes the same low level, and needs a ventilation routine more than it needs fragrance, because a room that is shut for weeks develops stale air that fragrance combines with rather than masks. A dressing room takes a light dry register, because whatever is in it transfers onto clothes and leaves the house to meet the wearer's own perfume - and it should be flame-free, since hairspray, aerosols and alcohol-based perfume are flammable. A study can carry a more personal register, because exposure there is chosen rather than imposed, but the level stays low because the hours are long. Every one of these rooms is behind a door and therefore its own zone, and reeds are usually the better specification: continuous, silent, no power, no scheduling and nothing to remember. Fourth, and equally deliberate: four rooms get nothing. The kitchen is never scented, at any time, because cooking smell is aerosolised oil and the answer is extraction rather than fragrance - and in an open plan, the extraction specification matters more than the fragrance specification. Children's rooms get no fragrance. A covered terrace, balcony or verandah cannot hold fragrance at all, because the air is not enclosed and it disperses as fast as it is produced, so a larger machine does not change the physics - mark it excluded on the drawing, because it is the space clients most often ask for. Staff quarters and utility areas get nothing. Writing those four into the schedule as excluded rather than leaving them off is more persuasive than any argument for the rooms that are included. Two rules that sit across the whole plan. Fix the sources before scenting anything: extraction, damp, drains, dry traps, musty textiles and curing materials all combine with fragrance rather than being masked by it, and the combination is worse than either alone. And apply the consent rule everywhere: anybody who shares the home and cannot leave a room they did not choose the scent for - a partner, a live-in parent, staff, a long-staying guest - gets a low neutral register and a physical off switch they never have to justify using. In a ducted air-conditioned home, check that the circuit is not carrying fragrance into a room meant to be excluded, because ducted systems join rooms into one air volume. Finally, the handover: write down the register, the locations room by room, the level, the reorder path and the correction rule - leave the level alone, and adjust only if a visitor remarks on it. Reeds are consumed by time rather than use and last three to four months, at roughly Rs 200 to Rs 280 per room per month, so month four is when an unattended plan quietly stops working. Machines take the water-based Hotel Collection only at three to six drops per tank with a rinse between scents, never reed oil, which can damage them. The seven Hotel Collection registers are Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, and they are SOSA's own interpretations - we are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand - and we make no claim that fragrance affects mood, focus, sleep, stress or wellbeing. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Volume pricing across a whole home is quoted against the specification on WhatsApp.

Why this works
The assembly order
1 One: entrance and guest bathroom - the highest return by far 2 Two: the connected living volume, at a moderate level 3 Three: bedrooms and closed rooms, at the lowest levels 4 And four rooms get nothing at all, on purpose
The flagship delivery gift: the SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 - a rechargeable waterless car diffuser with three hotel-inspired scents in the box. Per-unit gifts from ₹299; volume pricing on WhatsApp.
01
Two rules govern everything
One register, and intensity by exposure
Two scents meet in doorways many times a day and the collision reads as wrong. And the longer somebody is in a room, the lower it goes - because long exposure is what makes any register wearing.
Tip: A bathroom behind a shut door is the one exception.
02
Order by return, not by plan
Entrance and guest bathroom first
They are the only positions read by an unadapted nose, and they return more than the rest of the house combined. Both take reeds, and both can run fuller because nobody stays in them.
03
Then volume, then bedrooms, then nothing
Four rooms are excluded on purpose
One machine covers the connected volume at a moderate level. Bedrooms and closed rooms take the lowest levels and usually reeds. The kitchen, children's rooms, covered terraces and staff areas get nothing.
Tip: Write the exclusions in. They are the most persuasive part of the schedule.
The SOSA principle
One register at four intensities reads as considered. Four registers at one intensity reads as four decorators.
Vary the level, never the scent.

One register, many intensities

A whole-home plan is one register at several intensities, not a series of separate decisions. Two rules govern it. One register throughout, varied by intensity rather than by scent, because two adjacent registers meet in doorways many times a day and the brain reads that collision as something being wrong - a single register at four intensities reads as considered, while four registers at one intensity reads as four decorators; a bathroom behind a closed door is the one recognised exception. And intensity runs inversely to exposure, because long exposure is what turns any register wearing, and the people with the longest exposure are least able to judge it. Assemble by return rather than by plan order. First, the entrance and guest bathroom, which return more than the rest of the house combined because they are the only positions read by an unadapted nose - a guest arriving from outside air, and anybody entering a small enclosed room from other air. Both take reeds from Rs 749 to Rs 849 and both can run fuller, because nobody stays. Second, the connected living volume, served by one machine since a machine cannot cross a closed door - the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 with coverage to 1,000 m² and app and timer control for a large one, the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499, the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799, the SOSA Boond at Rs 799 - at a moderate level set for the family rather than the visitor, and scheduled to taper in the dining part before a meal, because fragrance competes with food. Third, bedrooms and closed rooms at the lowest levels: the master lowest of all with a neutral register neither partner chose and a physical off switch; a guest room needing a ventilation routine more than fragrance; a dressing room light and dry and flame-free, because what is in it leaves on clothes and because aerosols and alcohol-based perfume are flammable; a study able to carry a more personal register because exposure there is chosen. All are behind doors, so reeds usually win - continuous, silent, no power, nothing to remember. Fourth, four rooms get nothing on purpose: the kitchen at any time, since cooking smell is aerosolised oil and extraction is the answer; children's rooms; covered terraces, which cannot hold fragrance at all; staff quarters and utility areas. Across everything, fix the sources first, apply the consent rule to anyone who cannot leave, and in a ducted home check the circuit is not carrying fragrance into an excluded room. Then write the handover: register, locations, level, reorder path and the correction rule. Machines take Hotel Collection only, never reed oil. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards. Volume pricing is quoted on WhatsApp.

Whatever your business gifts, the logic is the same: gift the milestone moment, set the per-unit band by customer value, keep the register gentle and crowd-safe, and brand the gesture with your card rather than your logo on the product. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so every customer gift quietly gives twice. Honest notes for business gifters: customer taste varies, so volume programmes should run gentle, crowd-tested registers - fresh, clean and lightly floral scents are received well across every profile, and space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) avoid the personal-taste risk of skin perfume entirely. Listed prices are per-unit store prices; volume pricing, pilot batches, branded cards and custom hamper builds are quoted on WhatsApp - and signature-scent development for your brand is a consultation with our perfumer, not an off-the-shelf item, so timelines are discussed case by case. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with any hotel brand. Ultrasonic diffusers use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil - the two are not interchangeable. All personal fragrances are alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant. WhatsApp bulk desk: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.

And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How do I build a whole-home fragrance plan?
One register throughout, varied by intensity, assembled in order of return - entrance and guest bathroom first, then the connected living volume, then bedrooms and closed rooms.
Why one register rather than one per room?
Because two scents meet in doorways many times a day and the collision reads as something being wrong. Intensity, not scent, is what should vary between rooms.
Which two rooms matter most?
The entrance and the guest bathroom. They are the only positions read by an unadapted nose, and together they return more than the rest of the house combined.
How should intensity be set?
Inversely to exposure time. An entrance is seconds and can take the most; a master bedroom is eight unbroken hours and takes the least.
Which rooms get nothing?
The kitchen at any time, children's rooms, covered terraces and balconies which cannot hold fragrance at all, and staff quarters and utility areas. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the customer-gifting advice applies whatever your business finally buys.

Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
