The second feature: a key-lock, which holds your setting against a guest who fancies more.
The specification: waterless cold-air nebulisation of undiluted oil, up to 1000m³ (about 2,000–3,000 sq ft depending on ceiling height), 400ml tank, 90+ days a fill, under 38 dB, 5W, 0.9 kg, freestanding or wall / HVAC mount, CE / RoHS / SGS.
The honest gap: SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The 400ml in the box is the whole supply available today. Ask SOSA about refill availability before you buy if that matters to you. And no — nobody can promise any of this moves a rating.
2. It holds the setting you chose. The key-lock means a guest cannot raise the intensity on the first night and leave your next guest with a property that smells twice as loud as you intended. Auto-stop ends a run without anyone's help.
3. It covers a connected volume rather than a room. Up to 1000m³ — roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, and which end of that range you get is decided by ceiling height, because you are scenting cubic volume rather than floor area.
4. It is dry. Waterless nebulisation of undiluted oil adds no humidity, which matters in a coastal or monsoon-climate property where an ultrasonic makes rooms damper. It also means no tank to empty between bookings.
5. It is quiet and cheap to run electrically. Under 38 dB and 5W. As arithmetic on that 5W: eight hours a day is 40 watt-hours, roughly 0.04 units of electricity — about 1.2 units a month. Tariffs vary by state and this is arithmetic on a specification, not a quoted bill.
6. One scent, held across every turnover. A returning guest recognising a property is a real effect and it comes from consistency rather than intensity.
7. And the honest part. It ships with 400ml of cold-air oil — four Hotel Collection fragrances at 100ml each, quoted at 90+ days per fill at a mid setting. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil, so that 400ml is the entire supply available from us today. If uninterrupted supply is a condition of your purchase, ask SOSA about current refill availability before buying. None of this is a claim about your ratings, reviews, bookings or occupancy — nobody can promise those. Part one — the two features that change a large listing, and the one that enables them
Coverage figures sell machines and control features keep hosts. If you manage a four-bedroom villa or a large open-plan floor, the daily friction is not that your fragrance is too quiet; it is that somebody has to be present for anything to happen, and that somebody is you. Every property below a certain size can be solved with bottles on shelves. Above it, the operational question takes over: can the arrival be prepared without a human, and does it survive contact with a guest? Those are the two things worth ₹11,999, and the third feature — the range of the mist — is what lets them apply to a whole floor rather than a corner of it.
Sukoon₹1,899 · one roomGuests interact with everything in a property, and a machine with visible buttons is an invitation. The common pattern is not vandalism, it is enthusiasm: somebody likes the scent, turns the intensity to maximum, and the property runs that way for three days. Your next guest arrives to something you did not design, and your supply — which, as I say plainly below, is finite — has gone considerably faster than planned. The key-lock holds whatever you set. It is a small feature that turns a shared machine into a fixed installation, which is what a rental needs. The same logic argues for mounting: the Vaayu can sit freestanding, lie flat, or be wall or HVAC mounted, and in a listing I would mount it where it is out of casual reach rather than leave it on a console beside the sofa.Part two — the host's problem, and what the machine actually answers
I have written this table as a translation between the sentences hosts send me and the specification that responds to them — including the sentences where the honest answer is that the machine does not help.
| What the host says | What responds to it | The verified figure | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| "Nobody is there to switch anything on" ★ | Timers and app control, with auto-stop | 1h / 4h / 8h / 24h · Bluetooth · onboard buttons | It cannot know when a guest is actually arriving |
| "Guests change my settings" | Key-lock | Onboard key-lock, intensity fixed until you unlock | It does not stop the machine being unplugged |
| "Four bottles in four rooms smell like four rooms" | One source across a connected volume | Up to 1000m³ · about 2,000–3,000 sq ft | It does not push scent through closed bedroom doors |
| "My ultrasonic makes the rooms damp in monsoon" | Waterless nebulisation of undiluted oil | No water, no heat, dry nano-mist | It does not dehumidify — it simply adds nothing |
| "Refilling five diffusers every turnover eats staff time" | One tank, quarterly | 400ml · 90+ days per fill at a mid setting | Consumption rises at high intensity or long hours |
| "It will annoy guests at night" | Noise floor and scheduling | Under 38 dB · 5W · auto-stop | It is not silent, and taste still varies by guest |
| "Where do I put it in an open-plan villa?" | Mounting flexibility | Freestanding, lays flat, or wall / HVAC mounted · 0.9 kg | Installation services and brackets: ask SOSA, not us |
| The honest caveat: every figure here is a manufacturer specification and varies with intensity, run hours, ceiling height, ventilation and season. Nothing on this table is a claim about ratings, reviews, bookings, occupancy or revenue — there is no data connecting scenting to any of those and we will not pretend otherwise. Nor does the machine purify air, remove odours or affect health; it adds fragrance to air that is already there. And the supply line matters: no separate Vaayu refill oil is currently sold by SOSA, so the 400ml in the box is what you have today. | |||

Part three — when this is the wrong answer
I would rather lose a sale than have this machine in a property it does not suit, so here is the case against, stated as plainly as I can. The first and most important reason to hesitate is supply. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The machine ships with 400ml — four Hotel Collection cold-air fragrances at 100ml each — and at a mid intensity setting that is quoted at 90+ days per fill, so on paper you have somewhere around a year of use in the box depending on how you run it. But when it is gone, we do not at present have a bottle to sell you. That is a genuine gap in our range, of the same kind as our reed diffusers not having replacement reeds as a separate item, and I would rather name it here than let a host discover it in month eleven. If continuity of supply is a condition of your purchase, contact SOSA and ask about current refill availability before you spend anything. I will also say clearly what the answer is not: the water-based Hotel Collection sold for ultrasonic machines shares scent names with the oils in the box, and it is a different product. It is water-based, it is made for a Sukoon or a Boond, and it does not go in a Vaayu. Do not let anybody — including a product page — blur those two.
The second reason is size, and it is the commonest mismatch. Under roughly 800 to 1,000 sq ft of connected volume, this machine is more than your air needs. A 1BHK or 2BHK listing is solved properly by one or two reed diffusers at ₹749–₹849, or by a Sukoon at ₹1,899 covering 270–320 sq ft with steady, 2H and 4H timers and three fragrances in the box. That is a sixth of the money for the job you actually have, and you will not spend the first month turning the intensity down. If you are tempted towards a middle option, know that the Megh at ₹3,499 is not one: its 6L tank buys about 100 hours of runtime but it covers roughly 215 sq ft, less than the Sukoon does. It is a runtime and humidity machine and never a coverage upgrade.
The third is what the machine cannot reach. Scent does not pass through closed doors and it does not climb stairs reliably. In a villa with bedrooms shut for privacy, a single Vaayu on the ground floor scents the common volume beautifully and leaves those rooms alone — which is why most large listings end up running a hybrid: the machine on the common floor, and a reed diffuser in each bedroom and bathroom at ₹749–₹1,349 apiece. That is not a failure of the machine; it is what a floor plan does to air. And the fourth is expectation. This improves the experience of walking in, which is real, describable and worth having. It does not clean the air, remove an odour or change how anyone feels, and no one — not SOSA, not any seller — can promise you it moves a rating, a review score, a booking or an occupancy figure. If that is what you are buying, the purchase is built on something that does not exist.
Part four — placement and settings for a large listing
If you have concluded that the property genuinely warrants it, this is how I would set it up. The intensity advice is the part most hosts ignore and then correct three weeks later.
| Property situation | Where the machine goes | Timer to use | Intensity | What else you still need |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Large single-floor open plan ★ | Near the main traffic path, out of casual reach | 1h or 4h before check-in, auto-stop | Low to mid — lower than instinct | Nothing, if doors stay open |
| Two-floor villa | Ground-floor junction, not a far corner | 4h across the afternoon of a turnover | Mid | Reeds upstairs — scent does not climb stairs |
| Double-height living room | Mounted low, aimed into the room, not at the ceiling | 4h, longer than a normal-ceilinged room | Mid | Measure the volume first — height is the multiplier |
| Central AC throughout | HVAC mounted, if you have someone competent to fit it | Matched to the AC schedule | Low — the duct distributes for you | Ask SOSA about mounting; we cannot specify your system |
| Bedrooms kept closed | Machine stays on the common floor | Unchanged | Unchanged | One reed diffuser per bedroom, from ₹749 |
| Back-to-back same-day turnovers | Wherever it lives — do not move it between guests | 1h, started as housekeeping locks up | Low | Ventilation first, always, before the machine runs |
| Long vacancy between bookings | Unchanged | Short daily run rather than one long one | Low | Air the property at the start of the turnover too |
Versailles
The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we sell to a home, and it is the product I am most careful about. Not because I doubt it — the specification is honest, the mist is dry and fine, and in a genuinely large connected volume it does something no bottle of ours can. I am careful because it is the one where the gap between what a host imagines and what a machine does is widest, and because ₹11,999 is a serious amount of money in India.
So let me repeat the uncomfortable line rather than bury it. There is no Vaayu refill oil in our range at the moment. Four hundred millilitres comes in the box, it is quoted at 90-plus days a fill at a mid setting, and after that we currently have nothing to sell you for it. We name the missing replacement reeds in our diffuser range for the same reason. A gap you are told about is a decision you get to make; a gap you find out about is a grievance, and rightly so. Ask us where refill supply stands before you buy.
What I will defend without hesitation is the thing this machine is actually for. A guest opens a door and forms an impression in about ninety seconds, before they have seen a bedroom or read a single instruction. In a large property, making those ninety seconds identical for every guest, without you being there, is a real piece of hospitality craft. It is not a rating, it is not a review, and it is not a booking — nobody can promise any of that and I would not respect a brand that tried. It is just the way the place feels when the door opens, which has always been enough of a reason for me.
