There is a constraint on this gift that the product pages never mention: the person buying it often lives somewhere else. A child in Bengaluru, Mumbai or abroad is sending something to a house they will next see in three months, which means whatever arrives has to work with nobody there to set it up, explain it, or notice when it needs attention. That rules some things in and some things out.
Quick answers — read this first
What should I send parents moving into a new home in Mysuru if I live elsewhere? Reed diffusers from Rs 749 or a duo set from Rs 1,498 - they need no setup, no app and no electricity, and they work the moment the box is opened.

Can I send a scent machine instead? Only if somebody can set it up and the household is comfortable with an app or buttons. Otherwise it waits in its box until your next visit.

How do I handle refills from another city? Order them to their address when the bottles run low, or gift a 300ml refill at Rs 2,399 alongside so the first reorder is months away.
The short answer
Short answer: When the giver lives in another city, a gift for parents has to function without setup, explanation or supervision. Reed diffusers at Rs 749 to Rs 1,349 and duo sets at Rs 1,498 to Rs 2,598 need no electricity, no app and no configuration, and work as soon as the box is opened. The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 requires placement in the right airflow, an intensity and schedule decision and periodic refilling, so it suits a household comfortable with it or a visit when someone can set it up. Refills - 300ml at Rs 2,399 - can be ordered to their address, and free advice such as daily cross ventilation matters more than any product.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Large-home scenting gifts - at a glanceUp to 1,000 m³ - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Volume decides, not budgetA 2BHK does not need it. A villa or a penthouse genuinely mightA new house smells of paint for weeks. Air it first, then scent it₹11,999 · four oils included · runs itself
A scenting machine is the one premium home gift that is decided by arithmetic rather than by taste. The SOSA Vaayu covers up to 1,000 cubic metres, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, which a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan 4 or 5BHK or a double-height living room genuinely reaches - and which an ordinary flat does not. So the question is never how much somebody has spent on their house; it is how many cubic metres of air are in it. Where the answer is a normal-sized home we will say a reed diffuser from Rs 749 is the better gift. One more thing nobody mentions: a brand-new house smells of paint, varnish and polish for several weeks, and that needs open windows rather than fragrance. Give the machine at the housewarming; it comes into its own a month later. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the square footage before you spend Rs 11,999.
Straight answer
What should you send parents moving into a new home in Mysuru?
It has to work without you there. If you live in another city, whatever arrives gets no setup visit and no app walkthrough on the phone. So: reed diffusers ₹749 to ₹1,349 or a duo set ₹1,498 - no electricity, no app, no configuration, working the moment the box opens. The Vaayu ₹11,999 needs placement in the right airflow, an intensity decision and periodic refilling - send it when you can be there, or during a visit. Refills: order a 300ml refill ₹2,399 to their address. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
You will not be there to set it up. Buy accordingly. From Rs 749.
One sentence if you want to skip the reading: over roughly 2,000 sq ft, the Vaayu at ₹11,999; under it, reed diffusers from ₹749. Bulk and corporate quantities are quoted on WhatsApp rather than published.

If you live in another city, the gift has to work without you

Almost every recommendation in this category assumes the buyer and the user are in the same room. For parents moving into a new home, they very often are not: a son or daughter working in another city or another country is sending something to an address they will visit at Diwali, and everything about that changes which product is correct. Think about what a gift has to survive in that situation. It has to be usable by somebody who did not choose it and has not read anything about it. It has to work without an installation decision - because if the box needs a thought about placement, it will sit in the box until somebody decides, and nobody wants to make a decision about a present they did not ask for. It must not require a phone call in which you explain an app to a parent who is being polite about it. It has to keep working for months without anybody adjusting it. And when it runs out, either it must be easy for them to reorder or easy for you to reorder to their address, because the alternative is a beautiful object that stops working and is never mentioned. Reed diffusers satisfy all of that, which is why they are the honest first recommendation here rather than the budget one. There is no setup: the box contains a bottle and reeds, the reeds go in, and it works. There is no electricity, so no socket is needed and no thought about whether there is one where the bottle should stand - which matters in a new house where furniture is still being arranged. There is nothing to configure, nothing that beeps, nothing to update and nothing that will be switched off by a visiting relative. It runs for weeks unattended, and when it slows, the fix is either fresh reeds or a refill rather than a service call. And the registers are simple enough to describe in one message: Morning Freshness at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees for fifty millilitres and one thousand two hundred and forty-nine for one hundred and thirty is Malabar lemon with peppermint and eucalyptus, which reads clean and is the best entrance and kitchen-adjacent choice; Evening Calm at seven hundred and ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine is lavender with chamomile, the usual bedroom choice; Mountain Breeze at eight hundred and forty-nine and one thousand three hundred and forty-nine is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, dry and resinous, which suits a house with wooden furniture and does not compete with jasmine coming in from a garden; Garden Bloom at seven hundred and ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine is British rose with night-blooming jasmine, best in an interior room; Fresh Brew at eight hundred and forty-nine and one thousand three hundred and forty-nine is Coorg coffee with Kerala vanilla, good in a dining room. A duo set at one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight to two thousand five hundred and ninety-eight rupees is the right gift from a distance, because two bottles cover the two places that matter - the hall where people come in and the bedroom - and because it looks like a proper present rather than a single item. Send a three hundred millilitre refill at two thousand three hundred and ninety-nine rupees with it or three months later, and the whole arrangement is self-sustaining. The machine is not ruled out, and it is worth being precise about when it works from a distance. The SOSA Vaayu at eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the right product for a large connected home, and it is genuinely easy to live with once running - waterless so there is no water to carry or tank to wipe, no flame, nine hundred grams, lying flat on a shelf so nothing needs drilling, under thirty-eight decibels, five watts, auto-stop and a key lock, a four hundred millilitre tank lasting up to around seventy-five days a fill, and four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included so it runs the first evening. But three decisions have to be made by somebody in the house: where it goes, which in a single-storey house without ducting means the central circulation near a ceiling fan on low rather than a corner; what intensity, which should start at the lowest useful setting; and which run window, from one, four, eight and twenty-four hour options with day selection. None of those is hard, and all of them are easier done by a person standing in the room than described over a phone. So the sensible versions are: send it when you are visiting, or send it ahead and set it up yourself when you arrive, or send it if a sibling or a grandchild in the house will happily do the app. If none of those is true, the bottles are the better gift and the machine can wait for the next occasion. One more thing worth sending that costs nothing, and it matters more than any product in a new house. Tell them to keep the windows open for the first few weeks, because paint, polish, varnish and new joinery release solvent for days to weeks and ventilation is the only thing that removes it - fragrance over curing paint smells of both. In this climate that is easy for most of the year. Ask them to leave wardrobe and cupboard doors open too, because new plywood off-gasses inside them, and to run a fan to move air through rooms rather than around them. If the house is being finished in stages, as many self-built houses here are, scent the rooms that were completed months ago and leave the new portions alone. And in any house, if one room smells bad and nothing explains it, pouring a mug of water down a rarely used floor drain is worth trying, because an evaporated trap lets sewer air in and no fragrance covers that. Two closing notes. The refills for the machine are the waterless nebuliser oils at one thousand and forty-nine rupees for a hundred grams or one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine for three hundred, and never the water-based Hotel Collection at two hundred and ninety-nine rupees, which is a separate system for ultrasonic diffusers - worth writing down for whoever tops it up. And never send a machine to a parent who would rather not have one: the best gift is the one that gets used, and a polite sigh at a new device is a clear answer.

1
The buyer is usually not in the room
And will not be for months
It has to be usable by somebody who did not choose it, without an installation decision, without an app explained over the phone, and without anybody adjusting it.
Tip: A box that needs a decision sits in the box until somebody makes one.
2
Bottles satisfy every one of those
Which is why they are first here
No setup, no socket, nothing to configure, nothing a visiting relative will switch off, and weeks of unattended running.
3
The machine works when somebody can place it
Three decisions, all easier in person
Where it goes, what intensity, which run window. Send it on a visit, or set it up when you arrive, or send it if somebody in the house will do the app.
Tip: Otherwise bottles now and the machine next time.
The SOSA principle
The most valuable thing you can send costs nothing.
Tell them to keep windows open for the first weeks, leave wardrobes open because new plywood off-gasses inside them, and run a fan to move air through rooms rather than around them.

No setup visit, no app walkthrough on the phone, no reordering you have to remember

Chosen so it works with nobody there to help.

A note from Sonal

The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.

The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.

Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with the square footage and the layout. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the gifting advice applies to any brand. On homes, machines, and what is not claimed here. Coverage figures are the manufacturer's stated figures for the product - up to 1,000 cubic metres, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - and are not a guarantee for any particular layout; a home meaningfully larger than that is a question for WhatsApp rather than a bigger claim. Nothing here is a health, allergy, air-purification, sanitising, sleep or wellbeing claim of any kind; that the Vaayu is waterless is a statement about the technology rather than about anybody's health.
