Founder Diaries · Home Scenting by Home Type

A two-bedroom flat is the first home where scenting becomes a set of choices rather than a single purchase. In a studio there is one room and one machine. Here there are three or four rooms with doors between them, and the honest work is deciding which of them earn a diffuser and which do not. Everything else — placement, scent, drops, schedule, budget — follows from that one decision. This guide takes it in order.
Quick answers — read this first
How many: two. A Sukoon in the living area and one in the master — ₹3,798.

Where: a metre off the floor, living room towards the entrance, bedroom across from the bed.

Which scent: one for the whole flat, dosed higher in the living room.

What it costs: ₹3,798 with six 15ml bottles included, then a refill from ₹999 roughly once a year.
The short answer
Short answer: Two Sukoons, ₹3,798 — one in the living or dining area and one in the master bedroom. A 2BHK is roughly 700–1,100 sq ft but that is not the useful number; what matters is that it is three or four separate rooms and fragrance does not cross a shut door.
The third machine: Only if the second bedroom is used. A Boond at ₹899 for a study or occasional guest room takes the flat to ₹4,697; a third Sukoon makes it ₹5,697 and is right only when someone actually lives in that room.
Do not buy: A Megh (₹3,499) for coverage — it is rated to 215 sq ft, less than a Sukoon. And not a Vaayu (₹11,999): it is waterless, runs neat oil, cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection, and is built for large connected open volumes.
Straight answer
What do you need to scent a 2BHK?
1. Two Sukoons — ₹3,798. One in the living or dining area, one in the master bedroom. A Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is either of those rooms on its own, and each arrives with three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances.

2. Place them a metre up and away from the draught. Living room machine towards the entrance end and away from the kitchen; bedroom machine on a chest of drawers across from the bed, not on the bedside table. Keep both out of the direct path of a fan or split AC.

3. One fragrance, two doses. Four to five drops in the living area, two to three in the master. Running the same scent at different strengths makes a small flat read as one place instead of three, and it means the passage smells of your scent rather than of a collision.

4. Run them on timers, not continuously. Living room from about an hour before you use it, on the 2H timer. Bedroom for thirty to sixty minutes before bed, then off. A 500ml tank does 16–18 hours on low, but that is a specification rather than an instruction.

5. Leave the passage, kitchen and bathroom alone. A machine in a corridor scents the one space nobody sits in. A kitchen cannot be won while it is cooking. A bathroom is already humid and has an extractor pulling air out of it. These are the three commonest wasted purchases in a flat this size.

Made in India, composed by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer — and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: two Sukoons at ₹3,798 — living room and master — one scent at two doses, on timers, placed a metre up and out of the draught. Add a ₹899 Boond for a second bedroom you actually use. Skip the passage, the kitchen and the bathroom entirely.
SOSA Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic cool mist diffuser
The 2BHK machine
SOSA Sukoon · 500ml ₹1,899
270–320 sq ft, which is one 2BHK room. 16–18 hours a fill on low and 9–12 on high, a remote, and steady / 2H / 4H timers — the timers are what make the bedroom schedule work. Ships with three 15ml Hotel Collection scents, so two machines is ₹3,798 with six bottles in the box.

How to count rooms in a 2BHK

The instinct is to divide. Take 900 square feet, divide by a coverage figure of 300, buy three machines. It is tidy and it is the wrong model, because a shut door stops fragrance almost completely — not reduces it, stops it. Scent moves by diffusion and by whatever air currents exist, and a closed bedroom door removes both. So the number you want is not your carpet area over a coverage rating; it is the count of separate air spaces you want to smell of something. In a 2BHK that is usually a living-dining area, a master bedroom and a second bedroom — three candidates. If living and dining are genuinely open to each other they count as one space and share a machine.

Then the second question, which is the one this whole sub-cluster turns on: which of those three rooms actually earns a machine. The living area does, always — it is the largest volume, it carries the entrance, and it is where other people experience your home. The master does, because it is where you spend the most consecutive hours. The second bedroom usually does not, and this is where money gets wasted. In most 2BHKs it is a study, a guest room or a store, and its door is shut most of the week. Scenting a room nobody is in produces no benefit you will ever notice. If it is used, a Boond at ₹899 is the proportionate answer; if someone lives in it, a third Sukoon.

The three decisions

1
DECISION ONE · HOW MANY ROOMS EARN A MACHINE
Two, almost always
SOSA Sukoon diffuserSOSA Sukoon₹1,899Rank the rooms honestly: living room first, master second, second bedroom third. Buy down that list until you reach a room you do not really use, and stop there. For most 2BHKs that is two Sukoons at ₹3,798. The third machine is a ₹899 Boond if the second bedroom is a study or occasional guest room, or a third Sukoon at ₹5,697 total if it is properly occupied. Two things not to do: a Megh at ₹3,499 is not a coverage upgrade — it covers 215 sq ft, less than a Sukoon, and exists for 100-hour runtime in a dry room. And a Vaayu at ₹11,999 is a waterless commercial machine for large connected volumes; it runs neat oil and cannot take the Hotel Collection at all.
The order: living · master · second bedroom. More area means more Sukoons, never a Megh.
2
DECISION TWO · ONE SCENT OR SEVERAL
One, at different strengths
A 2BHK is small enough that everything meets in the passage, and three unrelated fragrances in three rooms produce a fourth one that nobody chose. The approach that works is a single house scent dosed differently by room — four to five drops in the living area, two to three in the master. Choose something that is acceptable both awake and asleep: The Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury and Westin-inspired White Tea Serenity are the safest, Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome if you want warmth, 1 Hotels-inspired Forest Suite if you want something woody. If you do want variation, keep the rooms in the same family rather than picking three separately. Use the six 15ml bottles that come with two Sukoons to decide before buying a 300ml at ₹1,799.
The test: would you want it in the bedroom at 2am? If not, it is not your house scent.
3
DECISION THREE · ALL AT ONCE OR BUILD UP
There is no discount for buying together
Two Sukoons bought two months apart cost the same ₹3,798 as two bought on the same day, and each arrives with its own three 15ml fragrances either way. So if the full amount is awkward, buy the living room machine first and give it six weeks before deciding about the bedroom. You will find out from your own flat rather than from a floor plan — a fair number discover one was all they wanted, and others that the bedroom is the room they care about most. Either finding is worth more than a guess.

The complete 2BHK plan

Every space in a typical two-bedroom flat, whether it earns a machine, and what goes in it. A 2BHK is roughly 700–1,100 sq ft, but the plan is set by rooms and doors rather than by area.

The 2BHK plan
Room by room, with the cost of each
Room Earns a machine? What goes there Cost
Living / dining ★ Yes — first purchase Sukoon, a metre up, entrance end, 4–5 drops, 2H timer ₹1,899
Master bedroom ★ Yes — second purchase Sukoon, across from the bed, 2–3 drops, 30–60 min before sleep ₹1,899
Second bedroom / study Only if it is used Boond at 2 drops if occasional; a third Sukoon if lived in ₹899 or ₹1,899
Entrance No Move the living room machine towards the door instead ₹0
Kitchen No Extractor and window; run the living room machine after cooking ₹0
Bathroom No Already humid, and the extractor removes what you add ₹0
Passage No Fed by the rooms either side — a machine here is the classic mistake ₹0
Totals: two rooms ₹3,798 · two rooms plus a Boond ₹4,697 · all three rooms with Sukoons ₹5,697. Every one of those includes three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances per Sukoon.

Everything a 2BHK setup uses
The SOSA principle
In a 2BHK the buying decision is not how much area you have — it is which rooms you are willing not to scent.
Machines add coverage only across separate air spaces, and only where somebody is. A flat with two well-placed diffusers beats one with four badly placed ones every time.

Placement, drops and schedule

Placement first, because it costs nothing and changes more than anything you can buy. Stand each machine about a metre off the floor — a console, a sideboard, a chest of drawers — because mist disperses outward and settles downward, so a floor-level diffuser spends its output on the skirting. In the living area, put it towards the entrance end and away from the kitchen; that way the machine you were buying anyway also handles the front door. In the master, use a chest of drawers across the room from the bed rather than the bedside table. Keep every machine out of the line of a fan or split AC, which pushes mist into one wall.

Then drops. The Hotel Collection guidance is three to six per tank, and in a 2BHK the split is four to five in the living area and two to three in the master. That is not less fragrance for a less important room — it is the dose that produces the same perceived strength, because a bedroom is smaller, more enclosed, and you are lying still in it rather than moving through it. A Boond in a study takes two drops in its 300ml tank. Start at the bottom of each range and add a drop at the next fill if you need to; your nose adapts within twenty minutes, so judge the dose by walking out and coming back in.

The schedule matters as much as either. Living room machine on about an hour before you use the room and off when you leave — the 2H timer, not steady. Bedroom machine for thirty to sixty minutes before you go to bed and then nothing; running it through the night in a closed room over-scents by morning and spends fragrance while you are asleep. A second bedroom machine runs only when someone is in there. And sequence around cooking rather than competing with it: extractor on, window open, and start the living room machine once the air has cleared. Rinse tanks between scents, use filtered water in hard-water cities, and never put raw oils into an ultrasonic — they are too thick to atomise and will foul the plate.

Buy for the rooms you are in, not for the rooms you have. In a 2BHK those are different numbers.

What it all costs

Every route through a 2BHK with the totals shown as plain addition, plus the recurring line. Each Sukoon includes three 15ml fragrances, so the hardware price is genuinely the complete setup.

The 2BHK buying guide
Four setups and the running cost
Setup What you get Covers Total
Start here 1 × Sukoon ₹1,899 — 3 × 15ml included Living / dining and the entrance ₹1,899
The 2BHK answer ★ 2 × Sukoon ₹1,899 + ₹1,899 — six 15ml bottles Living / dining and master ₹3,798
Plus a used study 2 × Sukoon ₹3,798 + Boond ₹899 Adds a second bedroom up to 150 sq ft ₹4,697
Every room 3 × Sukoon ₹1,899 × 3 — nine 15ml bottles All three rooms ₹5,697
Running cost A 100ml refill ₹999, or 300ml ₹1,799 (~₹6/ml) Tens of rupees a month across two machines from ₹999
Honest notes before you buy: every Sukoon includes three 15ml fragrances of your choice, so two machines arrive with six bottles and nothing needs adding on day one. Totals are plain addition: ₹1,899 × 2 = ₹3,798, ₹3,798 + ₹899 = ₹4,697, ₹1,899 × 3 = ₹5,697. These are ultrasonic, water-based fragrances and add a little humidity — welcome in a dry or air-conditioned flat, less so in a coastal monsoon. The Megh at ₹3,499 covers 215 sq ft, less than a Sukoon; buy it for 100-hour runtime and dry-air relief in one room, never as a coverage upgrade. The Vaayu (₹11,999) and Aangan (₹25,999) are waterless machines that nebulise neat oil and cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection at all; both are commercial and built for large connected volumes rather than flats of separate rooms. The machines (Boond, Sukoon, Megh) are imported from China; the Hotel Collection fragrances are composed and made in India. Use filtered water in hard-water areas, rinse between scents, keep fragrance away from children and pets. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

If you read nothing else here: a 2BHK needs two machines, and the third one is the decision worth thinking hardest about. Almost everyone who writes to me about a flat this size has already decided they need one per bedroom, and most of them, once we have talked through how the second bedroom is actually used, buy two.

The rest of it is unglamorous and it is where the result comes from. A machine a metre off the floor rather than on it. Away from the fan. One scent rather than three, at half the dose in the bedroom. On a two-hour timer instead of running all evening. None of that costs anything, and all of it matters more than the difference between one diffuser and another.

So: ₹3,798, six bottles of fragrance in the box, ₹899 held back in case the spare room becomes somebody's. Come back for a 300ml when you know which scent your flat is. A portion of whatever you spend goes to Nanhi Kali and a girl's place in a classroom, which is the piece of this I care about most.

Frequently asked questions

How many diffusers do you need for a 2BHK?
Two in most cases — a Sukoon in the living or dining area and one in the master bedroom, ₹3,798 together. A 2BHK is roughly 700–1,100 sq ft, but the relevant number is the count of separate rooms, because fragrance does not cross a shut door. A third machine is worth it only if the second bedroom is genuinely used.
What does it cost to scent a 2BHK?
₹3,798 for the standard two-Sukoon setup, and that includes six 15ml Hotel Collection bottles because each machine ships with three. Adding a Boond for a small second bedroom makes it ₹4,697; three Sukoons is ₹5,697. After that the only recurring cost is fragrance — a 100ml refill from ₹999 or a 300ml at ₹1,799, which lasts a 2BHK a long time.
Where should the diffusers go in a 2BHK?
About a metre off the floor in both rooms. In the living area, towards the entrance end and away from the kitchen, so the same machine handles the front door. In the master, on a chest of drawers across the room from the bed rather than the bedside table. Keep both out of the direct path of a fan or split AC, which pushes the mist into one wall.
Should every room in a 2BHK have the same fragrance?
In a flat this size, yes — one scent at different doses. Four to five drops in the living area and two to three in the master gives you the same perceived strength in both while keeping the home coherent. Three separate fragrances in three rooms meet in the passage and make a fourth one nobody chose.
Is a Vaayu or a Megh better for covering a whole 2BHK?
Neither. The Megh at ₹3,499 covers 215 sq ft — less than a Sukoon — and is a 100-hour runtime and humidity machine for one room. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 is waterless, runs neat oil, cannot use the water-based Hotel Collection, and is rated for large connected open volumes rather than small closed rooms. For more coverage in a flat, the answer is always more Sukoons.
2BHK · the complete answer
Two machines, one scent, four rooms left deliberately alone
A Sukoon at ₹1,899 covers 270–320 sq ft and includes three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances, so two — living room and master — is ₹3,798 with six bottles in the box. Add a ₹899 Boond for a second bedroom you use and the flat is done for ₹4,697. Place them a metre up, run them on timers, and skip the passage. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
