Shape two — two bottles: a duo at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 or ₹1,598. Two 50ml diffusers, one purchase, two rooms.
Shape three — a pairing: one bottle plus a jar candle at ₹379 or a ceramic trinket dish at ₹664. It works only when both objects go to the same room and one of them clearly leads.
What SOSA does not have: no gift card, no hamper, no gift box, no curated set. If you were hoping to hand over a voucher, that option does not exist here.
2. A single person, or one main room: one 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349. Fresh Brew or Mountain Breeze at ₹1,349, Garden Bloom or Evening Calm at ₹1,299, Morning Freshness at ₹1,249. Fourteen to eighteen weeks in one place.
3. A colleague, a neighbour, an acquaintance: one 50ml at ₹749–₹849, and stop there. ₹1,500 is not a target to hit. A single bottle is the correct scale for most invitations, and spending the whole band on someone you know slightly reads as conspicuous rather than warm.
4. If you want two objects, obey one rule: same room, one leads. A 50ml diffuser at ₹849 and a jar candle at ₹379 for the same table is one gift with an accent. A diffuser and a mug is two gifts in one bag, and both of them shrink.
5. Three small things is not a gift, it is a bag. Below a certain size, adding objects subtracts from the whole. Two is the maximum number of items a housewarming gift can have before it starts to read as an assortment somebody assembled at the till.
6. There is no gift card and no hamper. SOSA sells no gift card, no gift box, no gift hamper and no curated reed gift set. Gift wrapping, gift notes and shipping direct to the recipient are unconfirmed from here — check at checkout rather than building your plan around them.
7. Two products that look like answers but are not. The oil-only refill at ₹2,399 arrives with no vessel and no reeds and is for a household that already owns a bottle. The water-based Hotel Collection at ₹299 is a refill for an ultrasonic machine, not a standalone present.
Everything is composed and handmade in small batches in Pune, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Part one — the three shapes a ₹1,500 gift can take
Almost every gifting decision at this budget is really a question about form rather than about product. Do you hand over one object, two matched objects, or one object with something small alongside it? The three shapes carry different meanings, and the meaning is decided before anybody has smelled anything. Getting the shape right is more of the work than getting the scent right, which is fortunate, because the shape is something you can reason about and a stranger's taste in fragrance is not.
Day & Night duo₹1,498 · 2 × 50mlThe second shape is the only one that solves a problem no single bottle can. A reed diffuser has no fan and no propulsion, so a closed door is a wall to it — the way to reach a second room is a second bottle, and a duo is that in one purchase. Day & Night is ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598. What arrives is two 50ml bottles, not a hamper — no tray, no box, no ribbon and no curated anything, and I would say exactly that when handing it over. It suits a couple, a family or anyone with a hall and a bedroom both genuinely in use.Part two — each shape, and the way it fails
Set out plainly, with the failure mode next to each one, because the failure mode is the part that decides your purchase. I have included the two SOSA products people mistake for gifts at this budget, so that you can rule them out on purpose rather than by accident.
| The shape | What it is, exactly | What it signals | How it fails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two bottles — a duo ★ | Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 | A decision — two rooms thought about separately | In a one-room flat the two compositions collide; and two of the three are over ₹1,500 |
| One thing, larger | A 130ml at ₹1,249–₹1,349 — 14–18 weeks in one room | Substance, and a gift that outlasts the settling-in period | The household lives with a scent you chose for most of a season |
| One thing, right-sized | A 50ml at ₹749–₹849 — 6–8 weeks | Proportion; the correct scale for a colleague or a neighbour | At a close friend's housewarming it can read as slight — though rarely does |
| A pairing | A 50ml plus a jar candle ₹379, the Sandalwood jar ₹449 or a trinket dish ₹664 | Attention — if and only if both go to the same room | Unrelated objects divide instead of adding; and a candle needs someone who lights candles |
| Three or more small items | Candles, wax melts at ₹474, mugs at ₹474–₹569, in combination | Effort, unfortunately of the wrong kind | It reads as an assortment gathered at the till rather than one chosen gift |
| The honest caveat — two things that are not gifts: the oil-only refill at ₹2,399 comes with no glass vessel and no reeds and only makes sense for a household that already owns a diffuser; and the water-based Hotel Collection at ₹299 is fragrance for an ultrasonic machine, so it is useless to anyone who does not own one. Neither belongs in a housewarming bag, however tempting the price looks. | |||

Part three — the rules for combining, and when to spend less
If you are going to pair two things, there are two tests and both must pass. The first is the room test: can you name the single surface both objects will end up on? A diffuser and a candle share a console by the door or a shelf in the living room. A diffuser and a mug do not — the mug goes to a kitchen cupboard within the hour, and the two halves of your gift are separated before the evening is over. The second is the hierarchy test: is one object obviously the gift? Two items of similar size and price cancel each other out; a ₹849 bottle with a ₹379 candle has a clear lead and a clear accent, which is why that particular pairing works and two candles do not. There is a third, softer point worth knowing: a candle asks for someone in the household who actually lights candles, and wax melts at ₹474 ask for a burner the recipient may not own. A reed diffuser asks for nothing, which is the whole reason it leads.
Now the part of this page I would most like people to read. Most of the invitations that bring somebody to a page like this do not warrant ₹1,500. A colleague, a neighbour, a friend of a friend, a cousin you see twice a year — one 50ml bottle at ₹749–₹849 is the correct answer, and it is correct on its own terms rather than as a downgrade. A gift that visibly outsizes the relationship places a small debt on the recipient, and there is no version of a housewarming where that is the intended effect. If you find yourself adding a second object mainly to reach a number, that is the number talking rather than the gift, and the honest move is to buy the single bottle and be pleased with it.
Two last honest notes, both of which people at this budget need. There is no SOSA gift card, so a voucher is not an option here, and there is no hamper, gift box or curated set — if a listing anywhere describes one, it is not something I sell. Gift wrapping, gift notes and shipping straight to the recipient are unconfirmed from where I sit; check at checkout rather than promising them to yourself. And about the flat itself: a new home smells of paint, polish and sometimes damp, and fragrance does not remove any of that. It does not clean air, it does not neutralise a smell and it does not change how anyone feels. Ventilation and a few weeks handle the paint. The diffuser is what is left in the room afterwards, which is a modest claim and the only one I can make honestly.
Part four — the SOSA answer, by recipient
Seven invitations and the exact product I would buy for each, with the shape named so you can see the reasoning rather than just the recommendation. Where a pairing is the answer I have given both prices separately rather than a total, because what you hand over is two things.
| Who you are giving to | The shape | Exactly what to buy | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A sibling or close friend and their partner, new 2BHK ★ | Two bottles | Day & Night duo, 2 × 50ml | ₹1,498 |
| A couple who dislike florals and sweet things | Two bottles | Fresh & Grounded duo, 2 × 50ml | ₹1,548 · over the band |
| A close friend living alone in one main room | One thing, larger | Fresh Brew 130ml — only if you know they like warm scents | ₹1,349 |
| A colleague or a neighbour | One thing, right-sized | Garden Bloom 50ml | ₹799 |
| Someone whose flat is small and who is easily overwhelmed | One thing, right-sized | Evening Calm 50ml | ₹799 |
| A friend who genuinely lights candles most evenings | A pairing, same table | Mountain Breeze 50ml with a Misty Mornings jar candle | ₹849 and ₹379 |
| Someone who has just moved and owns nothing to stand a bottle on | A pairing, same surface | Morning Freshness 50ml with a cloud trinket dish | ₹749 and ₹664 |
Versailles
People write to me at this budget asking for a combination, and the request is almost always phrased the same way: can you put something together for fifteen hundred? The honest answer is that I could, and that in most cases it would be a worse gift than one bottle. Assembling costs nothing and adds nothing; what it does is spread the recipient's attention across two objects instead of one.
The pairings that do work have a shape to them. A bottle and a candle for the same console table is one idea expressed twice. A bottle and a dish to stand it on is one idea plus its accessory. Both of those hold together because you can say the sentence — "this is for the table by your door" — in one breath. If the sentence needs an and in the middle, you have two gifts.
The other thing I would say is that ₹1,500 is a search term, not a requirement. A great many of the people reading this are going to a colleague's flat and would be better served spending ₹799 and arriving relaxed. I would rather sell one bottle to somebody who is comfortable with the decision than a pair to somebody who is anxious about the number. Everything is composed and handmade in Pune, in small batches, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
