A fully air-conditioned villa is the one home where scenting gets simpler rather than harder, and the reason is the ductwork. The house is already moving and mixing its own air on a schedule, which means you can scent the airflow instead of chasing rooms. Here is how to size it by air volume, when a Vaayu is right, and when the honest answer is one bigger machine on the air handling.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best fragrance system for a fully air-conditioned villa? If the villa is ducted, scent the airflow rather than the rooms. Mounting to the ductwork means every zone the system serves gets the same fragrance at the same level, with nothing standing on a console anywhere. Size it by air volume rather than room count: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, and can be freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted. A genuinely large ducted volume of roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft is a SOSA Angaan (₹25,999), with 3,000m³ coverage, an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and under 42dB. If the villa runs on individual split units instead, that is one machine per connected zone.
How many scent machines does a villa need? Fewer than most people budget for. Work out the air volume of each connected space by multiplying length, width and height, then divide by 1000m³, which is what one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers. Rooms that are on the same ducted system and open to each other are one volume, not five. A ground floor of about 2,500 sq ft at normal ceiling height is one machine. A fully ducted villa of 8,000-10,000 sq ft is one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on the air handling rather than a machine in every room, which would only give you a house that smells like several different houses.
Should every room in a villa have its own diffuser? No. In a fully air-conditioned villa the air is already being moved and mixed for you, so multiple machines running different intensities produce an uneven, disjointed result rather than a better one. Use one fragrance across the whole house, and let the number of machines be decided by how many separately moving bodies of air there are. Where the villa is ducted, that is often one machine on the duct. Where it runs on splits, it is one per connected zone, all running the same scent, with quieter settings in bedrooms.
The short answer
Short answer: if the villa is ducted, scent the airflow rather than the rooms - mount to the ductwork so every zone gets the same fragrance at the same level. Size by air volume, not room count: one SOSA Vaayu covers 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, and a genuinely large ducted volume of 8,000-10,000 sq ft is a SOSA Angaan on the air handling. A villa on individual split units instead gets one machine per connected zone, all running one fragrance. Ventilate daily and have the system serviced first.
The pick: a SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per connected zone or HVAC mounted on a smaller ducted system, stepping up to the SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) where the ducted volume is genuinely 8,000-10,000 sq ft.
Next step: send us the villa floor plan with ceiling heights and whether it is ducted or on splits, and we will do the volume maths with you - ask us what fits your home.
The count comes from cubic metres of connected air, not from how many bedrooms there are. A villa that is genuinely on one ducted system is one machine on the duct, not eight machines on eight consoles. Ventilate daily and service the system first, whatever the size.
How should a fully air-conditioned villa actually be scented?
Two questions decide everything, and neither is about fragrance. Is the villa ducted or on individual split units, and how many cubic metres of connected air does it hold? If the house has ducted air conditioning, there is a better option than any freestanding machine, and it is worth knowing before you buy anything. When the whole home is served by one air handling system, you can scent the airflow itself rather than each room, so every zone the ducts reach gets the same fragrance at the same level, there is nothing standing on a console in any room, and nobody has to think about it. The Vaayu can be HVAC mounted for exactly this. Where the ducted volume is genuinely large - roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft - the machine built for it is the SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999: 3,000m³, an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and under 42dB, connected to the building's air handling. If instead the villa runs on individual splits - which is most Indian villas - then each separately cooled, separately closed body of air is its own problem, and the count comes from volume. Multiply length by width by height for each connected space and divide by 1000m³, which is what one SOSA Vaayu covers, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft at a normal ceiling height. A ground floor where the living, dining and passage are open to each other is one volume and one machine, not four. The first-floor bedroom corridor is usually another. Double-height volumes are where floor-area thinking collapses entirely: a 1,500 sq ft living room at twenty feet holds as much air as a 3,000 sq ft floor at ten, so measure the height and place the machine high on the return rather than at floor level. Whatever the count, use one fragrance across the entire house - in a villa where air moves between zones, three scents do not stay in three places, they meet in the stairwell. And the order of operations does not change because the house is large: give the house a real cross-ventilation window every day even though it is cooled, wash or replace the return-air filters on the schedule the installer gave you, and have the coils, drain pans and drain lines cleaned annually. A scent machine does not remove odour molecules. It adds fragrance molecules alongside them. Nothing about diffusing a fragrance breaks down, neutralises, captures or cancels what is already in the air, and any brand telling you otherwise is overselling a fragrance product. Run a diffuser in a house that has had no fresh air for a fortnight and a coil that has not been cleaned in two years, and you get both at once, which is genuinely worse than either alone. A free home scenting plan will do the volume maths from your plan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Ducted villa: scent the airflow, not the rooms. Split-unit villa: one machine per connected volume, sized at 1000m³ each. Genuinely large ducted volumes of 8,000-10,000 sq ft are one Angaan on the air handling. One fragrance throughout.
For a zone or a floor, the SOSA Vaayu covers 1000m³ (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) and can be HVAC mounted. Where the ducted volume is genuinely 8,000-10,000 sq ft, the SOSA Angaan is the honest answer: 3,000m³, an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and under 42dB.
The two machines a fully air-conditioned villa uses
There are only two machines in a villa specification, and the difference between them is how much air they are being asked to carry. Both pictures link straight to the product page so you can check the specification before deciding.
A connected zone, a floor, or a smaller ducted system
Waterless cold-air nebuliser at ₹11,999, rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank lasting up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers and adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding, wall mounted or HVAC mounted, auto-stop and key-lock.
HVAC nebulising diffuser at ₹25,999, rated to 3,000m³ - roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft - with an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB. It connects to the building's air handling and carries scent on the airflow you already have, and it also runs standalone wall mounted or lay flat.
One machine per separately cooled, connected volume, all running the same fragrance and the bedrooms a step softer. Waterless, so nothing damp is added to a house being cooled and dried, and nothing settles on wood, veneer, art or fabric.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting up to about 75 days, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers with adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Waterless, so no moisture added to a room you are keeping cool and dry, and no standing water in a tank. Made in India.
How to size and zone a fully air-conditioned villa
Three numbers decide a villa plan: the cubic metres of each connected volume, the number of separately moving bodies of air, and whether there is ductwork to mount to. None of them is the number of bedrooms.
1
Measure the air, not the floor
Length times width times height, in cubic metres
Villas are built tall on purpose, and that is exactly why floor-area rules of thumb mislead in them. A 1,500 sq ft living room at a twenty-foot ceiling holds roughly the same air as a 3,000 sq ft floor at ten feet, so a plan drawn from square footage will under-specify the double-height spaces and over-specify the bedrooms. Work in cubic metres. Measure each connected volume, multiply length by width by height, and divide by 1000, which is what one Vaayu covers. Round sensibly and check the far corner rather than the average. If a single volume comes out well above 3,000m³, stop stacking small machines: that is the point at which one bigger machine on the air handling is both cheaper and better, because five small units running independently will never hold the same level as one machine feeding the airflow.
Tip: one Vaayu per 1000m³ of connected air, and one Angaan instead of five Vaayu.
The Vaayu is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. That single number does most of the planning for you.
Two spaces on the same plan can still be two problems if they are cooled separately. In a villa on individual split units, each closed, separately cooled zone is its own volume: the ground floor living and dining that share an open plan and stay open are one, the bedroom floor with doors shut all night is another, a home theatre or gym that is sealed and cooled on demand is another again. In a ducted villa, the opposite is true: the system is already connecting and mixing those volumes on a schedule, so the sensible move is to stop counting rooms altogether and put the machine on the ductwork. Ask a simple question about your own house. When the system runs, does air move between the zones or not? If it does, scent the system. If it does not, scent each zone, and use the same fragrance in all of them so the transitions are not jarring.
When everything is on one ducted system, the Angaan uses that airflow to scent up to 3,000m³ evenly rather than fighting it.
A large ducted house has more places for a smell to live, not fewer
The order of operations is the same in a villa as in a one-bedroom flat, and the stakes are slightly higher because there is more equipment. Give the house a genuine cross-ventilation window every day, on two opposite sides with the fans running, because ducted air conditioning recirculates just as split units do unless the system has a dedicated fresh-air provision, and many do not. Wash or replace the return-air filters on the schedule the installer specified, not when somebody notices a smell. Have the coils, the drain pans and the drain lines cleaned annually, and in a ducted system ask about the condition of the ductwork itself and the return plenum, which is where dust settles in quantity in a house that runs cooling nine months a year. If any part of the system has ever had a water problem, deal with that before you spend a rupee on fragrance, because a fragrance carried on the airflow of a system that smells will simply distribute both things evenly through your villa.
Tip: if the system itself smells, scenting the airflow distributes the problem rather than solving it.
Once the system is clean, the Vaayu can be HVAC mounted, wall mounted or freestanding, whichever the zone needs.
Most villas are over-specified rather than under-specified. Eight machines in eight rooms smell like eight rooms; one machine sized to the air smells like one house.
The question is never how many bedrooms you have. It is how many separately moving bodies of air you have.
When one Vaayu is not enough: SOSA Angaan connects to the villa's air handling and scents up to 3,000m³ - about 8,000-10,000 sq ft - with an 800ml reservoir, a metal body and programmable schedules, under 42dB. ₹25,999.
Ducted or split - the two villas, and the two answers
Here is the whole decision in one table. If your villa is ducted, you are scenting a system. If it is on splits, you are scenting volumes. There is no third answer worth your time.
The SOSA plan
Villa sizing - one table, two machines
What you are actually dealing with
What fixes it
A connected zone or floor of up to about 2,000-3,000 sq ft
One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) on the return-air path of that zone. Rated to 1000m³, waterless, under 38dB, with app timers and adjustable intensity. View →
A smaller ducted villa, or one ducted floor
One SOSA Vaayu HVAC mounted to the ductwork, so every room the system serves gets the same fragrance at the same level and nothing stands on a console. View →
A double-height living volume
Measure the height before deciding. Place high, on the return rather than at floor level, and expect the volume to be far larger than the floor area suggests. View →
A fully ducted villa of roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft
One SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) on the air handling - 3,000m³, an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules, under 42dB. One machine instead of five. View →
If you want the reasoning about placement within each zone rather than the sizing, where to place a scent machine in an air-conditioned room covers the return path, the distances and the mounting options in detail. If you are still deciding whether a machine earns its place in a cooled house at all, can a scent machine work effectively in an air-conditioned home is the honest verdict. And the broader question is answered in why your house doesn't smell fresh even after cleaning. On fragrance choice in a large cooled house, keep it restrained: On the fragrance itself, a cold house is a specific brief. Cold air flattens a composition and shortens its opening, so the profiles that survive are the ones with structure rather than sparkle: white tea and green tea, cedar, vetiver and light woods, fig, soft citrus, clean musks, a dry mineral note. Those read as air, space and order, which is precisely what a recirculating house is short of. What fails is anything sweet and gourmand - vanilla, caramel, cocoa, heavy amber. In a cold, closed room sweetness does not lift, it settles, and it goes cloying by the second hour. Big ouds and very heavy florals are beautiful compositions in the wrong volume of air. And use one fragrance across the connected floor rather than a different one in every room, because in a house where the air is constantly recirculating, three scents do not stay in three rooms.
The zone machine: SOSA Vaayu, 1000m³ coverage, waterless, 400ml tank up to about 75 days, app timers and key-lock, freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted. ₹11,999.
Size it by the air in the villa, not the number of rooms
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 covers 1000m³; the SOSA Angaan ₹25,999 covers 3,000m³ on your air handling. Send the plan and we will confirm the count before you buy.
The SOSA specification for an air-conditioned home
Two machines, one decision, and it is made by air volume. The Vaayu handles a connected zone, a floor, or a smaller ducted system, and mounts to ductwork where there is ductwork. The Angaan takes over when a single ducted volume is genuinely too large for one Vaayu to do honestly. Both are waterless, so nothing damp is added to a house being cooled and dried, and both are made in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A word on choosing: the count comes from air volume, not from room count or budget. Eight small machines through a villa smell like eight rooms; one machine sized to the connected air smells like one house. A scent machine does not remove odour molecules. It adds fragrance molecules alongside them. Nothing about diffusing a fragrance breaks down, neutralises, captures or cancels what is already in the air, and any brand telling you otherwise is overselling a fragrance product. One line worth being plain about: a fragrance machine is a fragrance machine. It is not an air purifier. It does not filter, disinfect, dehumidify or remove anything from the air, and it makes no health claim of any kind. And ventilate daily and service the system before you scent it, because scenting the airflow of a system that smells distributes both. A note from Sonal
Villas are the projects where I most often talk people out of things. Somebody arrives having decided on a machine per bedroom, and the honest answer is that a fully air-conditioned villa is already doing the distribution for you. If the house is ducted, the air is being moved and mixed on a schedule, and you can put the fragrance into that airflow rather than chasing it around eleven rooms.
So the plan starts with cubic metres and with one question: ducted or splits. On splits, one Vaayu per connected volume, same fragrance in each, bedrooms a step softer. Ducted and genuinely large, one Angaan on the air handling, which is one machine instead of five and a far more even result. The mistake I see most often is a beautiful house that smells like four different houses because four machines were bought at four different times.
And the honest part, which is the same in a villa as in a studio. One line worth being plain about: a fragrance machine is a fragrance machine. It is not an air purifier. It does not filter, disinfect, dehumidify or remove anything from the air, and it makes no health claim of any kind. A big cooled house still needs its air exchanged daily and its coils, pans and ducts kept clean, and if the system itself smells, scenting it simply carries the problem to every room evenly. Frequently asked questions
What is the best fragrance system for a fully air-conditioned villa?
Yes, and in a ducted home that is usually the best answer. Scenting the airflow itself means every zone the ducts serve gets the same fragrance at the same level, with nothing standing in any individual room. The SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) can be HVAC mounted for this and covers 1000 cubic metres, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. Where the ducted volume is genuinely large, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, the SOSA Angaan (Rs 25,999) is the machine built for it, with 3,000 cubic metres of coverage, an 800ml reservoir and programmable schedules.
How many scent machines does a villa need?
Fewer than most people budget for. Work out the air volume of each connected space by multiplying length, width and height, then divide by 1000 cubic metres, which is what one SOSA Vaayu covers, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, at Rs 11,999. Rooms on the same ducted system that are open to each other are one volume, not five. A fully ducted villa of 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft is one SOSA Angaan at Rs 25,999 on the air handling rather than a machine per room, which would only give you a house that smells like several different houses.
Should each room in the villa have a different fragrance?
No. Use one fragrance throughout, at a lower intensity in bedrooms. In a fully air-conditioned villa the air moves between zones, particularly around a stairwell and a double-height volume, so different scents in different rooms do not stay put - they meet in the middle and read as confusion rather than variety. One restrained profile across the house is what reads as considered, and it also makes ordering and refilling far simpler.
Do I still need to ventilate a large air-conditioned villa?
Yes, and it is the single most useful thing on this page. A split air conditioner recirculates room air and brings in no fresh air at all, so a house that is shut and cooled all day gets almost no air exchange. About twenty minutes of cross-ventilation a day fixes that: open windows on two opposite sides so air has a route in and out, run a ceiling fan to help the exchange, and run the kitchen and bathroom exhausts at the same time. Early morning or late evening suits an Indian summer. Then close up and cool fresh air rather than stale air.
Will scenting the ducts fix a system that already smells?
No. A scent machine adds fragrance, it does not remove odour. Diffusing a fragrance does not break down, neutralise or capture the molecules already in the air, so scenting a house with no air exchange and a dirty evaporator coil gives you both smells at once, which is worse than either on its own. Ventilation, filter cleaning and a proper coil and drain service are what remove the smell. Fragrance is the finish on air that is already clear, and used that way it is genuinely worth having.

SOSA — Home Scenting for Air-Conditioned Villassized by cubic metres, not by bedrooms
The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) covers 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, and mounts freestanding, on a wall or to your ductwork. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) takes a fully ducted villa of roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft on the air handling itself, with 3,000m³ of coverage, an 800ml reservoir and programmable schedules. Both are waterless, so nothing damp is added to a house you are cooling. Neither removes an odour - ventilation and servicing do that. Facts verified 24 August 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting up to about 75 days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers with adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W, dimensions 165 x 80.5 x 215mm at 0.9kg, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification. It uses no water and no heat, so it adds no moisture to an air-conditioned room, holds no standing water and leaves no residue. It is a fragrance machine and not an air purifier: it adds fragrance and does not remove odour. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB, and also runs standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat. Scent enhances the ambience and perceived quality of a space; it works alongside proper ventilation and cleaning and is not a substitute for either, and SOSA makes no claim that fragrance alone influences a purchase decision.
