Under ₹500 is the busiest budget band in corporate Diwali gifting, and it contains two completely different kinds of gift at almost the same price. One is worn on the body. The other is used in a car. They are separated by about a hundred and twenty rupees and by everything else.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best employee Diwali gift under ₹500? A hanging car perfume at ₹449 for Jasmine, rising to ₹499 for Lemon. It is complete in itself, used by anyone who drives, and stocked in the thousands per scent so it fills a large order. An attar roll-on at ₹379 is the alternative where the gift can be offered as a choice.
Is an attar a good employee gift under ₹500? It is a lovely object at ₹379 to ₹399, but it is worn on the body, which makes it a personal choice assigned by an employer. It works best when employees pick their own scent from the four rather than being handed one. Stock is about 270 units per scent.
What fits in a ₹500 per head Diwali budget? Attar roll-ons 3ML at ₹379 to ₹399, car hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 for people who already own a hanging unit, and hanging or spray car perfumes at ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Sandalwood and Lavender, ₹489 for Icy Mint and ₹499 for Lemon.
The short answer
Short answer: Under ₹500 you are choosing between something worn and something used. The attar at ₹379 is worn and is best offered as a choice; the car perfume at ₹449 is used, needs no permission, and is the only thing in this band with the stock to cover a whole company.
The pick: a SOSA fragrance gift - alcohol-free, useful past January, from ₹379 a head.
Bulk: send headcount, per-head budget and cities, and we will confirm what stock can actually fill.
A corporate Diwali gift works when it is useful, appropriate to a professional relationship, and actually available in the quantity you need. SOSA's fragrance range runs from Rs 379 per head to Rs 3,999 for senior gifts, alcohol-free and handmade in India.
What should I buy employees with a budget under ₹500?
Everything in this band splits into two verbs.
Worn. An attar roll-on 3ML at ₹379, Ameeri at ₹385, Mastani at ₹389 or Nawaab at ₹399. Alcohol-free, concentrated, in a small tin that presents beautifully. The catch is that a worn scent chosen by an employer for an employee is a decision made about a person rather than for them. The fix is simple: let people choose which of the four they want. Then it is their scent and your gift.
Used. A hanging car perfume at ₹449, Sandalwood or Lavender at ₹479, Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499. It goes into a space the recipient owns outright. Nothing about it is a comment on them. That is what the extra ₹120 buys: not more fragrance, but the removal of a social question.
Skip the refills at ₹399 to ₹449 as a first gift. They extend a hanging car perfume somebody already has, which makes them a brilliant follow-up in February and a confusing present in November.
Stock decides it above about sixty people. Car perfumes run roughly 2,800 to 2,990 units per scent. Attars run about 270 per scent, so four scents cover a few hundred heads at most. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: under ₹500 the attar at ₹379 is worn and should be chosen by the employee, while the car perfume at ₹449 is used and can simply be given.
For a whole team that commutes, the honest starting point is a hanging car perfume at ₹449 - useful, gift-ready, and stocked in the thousands. For managers, a reed diffuser from ₹749.
The jump from ₹379 to ₹499 is small in money and large in what the gift asks of the person receiving it.
1
Verb
Worn things ask something, used things do not
A worn fragrance has to be put on a body before it does anything, which means the recipient has to agree with your choice. A car fragrance has to be hung on a mirror, which requires no agreement at all. That is why a ₹449 hanging car perfume travels further across a mixed team than a ₹379 attar does, even though the attar is the more precious object.
Tip: Ask what the gift needs from the recipient before it works. Less is better at scale.
2
Scent count
Eight scents versus four, and why it matters
The car range runs across eight scents from ₹449 to ₹509, which lets you offer a genuine pick without leaving the budget. The attar range runs four. Where employees choose their own, more options means fewer people settling. Where you are shipping one scent to everybody, neither range solves it and you should read the preference question separately.
3
Stock
Only one of these fills a large order
This is the part budget spreadsheets miss. A hanging car perfume holds roughly 2,800 to 2,990 units per scent, and refills about 1,695. Attars hold about 270 per scent. If your headcount is 40, both work. If it is 300, only the car range does, and a Diwali gift that arrives in December is worse than no gift. For anything above about 150 units, send the numbers to the bulk enquiry before you commit.
Tip: Above roughly 150 heads, the budget question and the availability question stop being the same question.
The SOSA principle
At this budget you are not choosing a scent. You are choosing whether the gift needs the recipient's agreement before it can be used.
That is the real difference between ₹379 and ₹449, and it matters far more than the hundred and twenty rupees between them.
Choosing inside the ₹500 band
Four ways the ₹500 ceiling can be spent, in the order most teams should consider them.
The SOSA gifting edit
The under-₹500 shelf, by what each one asks of the recipient
Adaa, Ameeri, Mastani, Nawaab. Feels the most like a present. Offer the four and let people choose, and it stops being a judgement.
Car hanging refill 15ML, ₹399 to ₹449
A refill is a follow-up, not an opener. Superb for a company gifting the same team a second year running, since the hanging unit is already in the car.
A choice of either, offered as a form
Two SKUs, one budget line. Employees pick a car scent or an attar. Costs you an extra column in a spreadsheet and removes almost every preference problem in the band.
If ₹500 is a per-head budget rather than a shopping ceiling, Rs 500 per head does the total-cost arithmetic for a real headcount. If you have a little more room than you thought, Under Rs 750 covers the band where a gift starts to look like an object rather than a sachet. The car perfume collection is the workhorse either way. There is a fuller treatment in Under Rs 300.
Gifting for a whole team?
Send us headcount, per-head budget and cities. If stock cannot fill the order, we will say so before you plan around it.
A hundred and twenty rupees does not buy more fragrance. It buys the absence of a question about whether the recipient wanted to smell like your choice.

The SOSA corporate gift edit
Every SOSA gift is alcohol-free, long-lasting and ready to hand over, handmade in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by budget tier and by who the gift is for.
The SOSA corporate Diwali gift edit
Five tiers that cover a whole company - from a ₹379 attar to a ₹3,999 executive gift
Waterless car diffuser - the executive gift that is actually in stock
₹3,999
Two honest notes. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil; the Hotel Collection is a separate water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations - SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal
Most corporate Diwali gifts fail for the same reason: they are chosen to be defensible rather than useful. A box of sweets nobody eats, dry fruits that go into a cupboard. The gift is not really for the employee - it is for the person signing it off.
The test I would apply is simple. Will this still be in use in February? A car fragrance in the car of someone who drives to work every day passes that test. So does a reed diffuser in a home office. A body-worn perfume chosen for someone you do not know well does not, because fragrance worn on skin is personal - choosing it for a colleague is a comment on how they smell, and most people quietly do not wear it.
Two honest things I would rather say than sell past. If your budget is genuinely under Rs 350 a head, fragrance is the wrong category - buy something else and come back next year. And if you need three hundred of something we hold ninety of, we will tell you, because a Diwali gift that arrives in December is worse than no gift at all. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Diwali gift for employees under ₹500?
A hanging car perfume, at ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Sandalwood or Lavender, ₹489 for Icy Mint and ₹499 for Lemon. It is complete on its own, useful to anyone who drives, and held in the thousands per scent, which is the only thing in this band that can fill an order for a few hundred people.
Should I give employees attar at ₹379 instead?
You can, and it is the more gift-like object of the two. The caveat is that attar is worn on the body, so a single scent chosen by the employer is a personal decision made on someone's behalf. Offering all four scents and letting people pick removes that problem entirely.
Are car perfume refills a good employee gift under ₹500?
Only as a second gift. A refill at ₹399 to ₹449 tops up a hanging car perfume the recipient already owns, so it is ideal for a company gifting the same team again the following year, and confusing for anyone receiving it first.
How many employees can a ₹500 budget actually cover?
That depends on the product, not the budget. Car perfumes hold roughly 2,800 to 2,990 units per scent and refills about 1,695, so several hundred is straightforward. Attars hold about 270 per scent. Above roughly 150 units it is worth confirming stock before the order is planned around.
Is ₹500 per head enough for a Diwali gift that feels considered?
Yes, provided the gift is complete and used. A ₹449 car perfume in the car of someone who drives to work every day is still in use in February, which is more than most ₹500 gift boxes manage. What ₹500 cannot buy is something that looks expensive, and chasing that look is usually where this budget gets wasted.
Hanging car perfumes from ₹449 and alcohol-free attar roll-ons from ₹379, both ready to gift. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
