Then buy all ten the same. On a budget the temptation is to make two of them nicer with whatever is left over. That is the one move that turns a gift into a ranking, and it costs you more goodwill than the money buys.
The honest gap: there is no SOSA reed diffuser below ₹749 and no machine below ₹899. If your total is under about ₹7,500, the reed is not available to you at ten heads, and I would rather say so than point you at something that is not one.
Before a larger order: for anything above roughly twenty-five units, write to us through the contact page before you order. Availability by scent varies, and it is better to ask than to assume.
2. Round down to the nearest real product, not up to the nearest ambition. Ten at ₹379 is ₹3,790 and ten at ₹449 is ₹4,490. Both land under a ₹5,000 total with room to spare, and the room is the point: lists grow. Two names you had forgotten will appear, and the buyer who spent to the last rupee is the one who then has to improvise.
3. Buy all ten the same. One product, one scent, ten units. The recipients cannot see your spreadsheet; they can only see each other's gifts, and identical is the only arrangement that says nothing at all about how you rank them.
4. Do not spend the leftover on two people. If the division leaves ₹510 in hand, the instinct is to upgrade a couple of gifts. Put it back, or spend it on an eleventh and twelfth unit for the names you have not thought of yet. That is the single most useful thing a leftover can do on a list of ten.
5. If the list grows past twenty-five, ask before you order. There is no bulk programme and no rate to quote, but availability by scent varies and a large single-scent order is harder to fill than a mixed one, because each scent is stocked separately. Write through the contact page first.

Divide first — the three rules that make ten names easy
Ten is a particular quantity and it deserves its own advice. It is small enough that you will almost certainly hand most of them over yourself, and large enough that the recipients will see each other's. That combination is what makes a list of ten quietly demanding: the gift has to survive being carried and it has to survive being compared. The three cards below are how you satisfy both without spending more.
Bookshop₹379A total is a feeling. A per-head figure is a shelf. The moment you divide, the entire store collapses into one or two rows and the decision becomes a choice between two products rather than a browse through forty. ₹400 a head is the ₹379 jar candles. ₹500 a head is the ₹449 Sandalwood and ₹449 Smoked Oudh, with wax melts and mugs at ₹474 alongside. ₹670 a head is the two-pack at ₹664. ₹750 a head is the reed line, and that is a different kind of gift altogether. Round down to the row you can actually reach, because the alternative is arriving at the tenth name with nothing left.
Cozy Corner₹379Ten is the last quantity where most people still hand the gifts over in person — at a desk, at a door, across a car park during the busiest week of the year. That makes physical shape a real criterion rather than an afterthought. It has to be carriable in a bag alongside nine others, it has to be legible as a gift in about one second without any explanation, and it must not create a task for the person receiving it. A jar candle and a small scented candle both pass all three. Anything that needs assembling, refrigerating, plugging in or reading does not. This is also why nothing on this page is a machine refill: the ₹299 Hotel Collection 15ml is a refill for an ultrasonic diffuser and does nothing without hardware the recipient almost certainly does not own, which makes it a poor standalone gift at any quantity.
Evening Walks₹379The cheapest gifts that look expensive share one property: nothing else needs buying. They arrive finished. A candle with its own vessel is complete; a reed diffuser with its six fibre reeds already in the box is complete; a thing that requires the recipient to go and find a holder, a battery or a refill is not, and it announces its price the moment they realise. The second lever is a named material. "Sandalwood" and "oudh" are materials with a reputation attached; a mood name is not. That is why, of everything under ₹500, those two candles at ₹449 read as the most deliberate purchases — not because they cost ₹70 more, but because they say what they are.
The leftover-money trap, and what to do with the change
Here is the failure I see most often on a budgeted list, and it is committed entirely out of kindness. The buyer divides, buys ten at ₹379, finds ₹210 sitting unused against a ₹4,000 total, and spends it making two of the gifts slightly better — usually for the two people they know best, which is the worst possible selection criterion because it is precisely the one everybody else can infer. A budget surplus should never be converted into a difference between recipients. If you want to spend it, spend it on quantity: an eleventh and a twelfth unit, held back for the names that always appear late.
The exception, and it is a real one, is a genuine tier. If your ten includes three people whose relationship to you is categorically different — a household you are visiting rather than colleagues, say — then two tiers are legible and nobody has to interpret them. But the tiers must be far enough apart to read as categories rather than as grades. Seven at ₹379 and three at ₹799 is two categories. Seven at ₹379 and three at ₹449 is a grade, and it will be read as one. If in doubt, one tier. It is the only arrangement that requires no explanation at all.
And one honest word about the gift you may be replacing. A box of sweets is not a failure of imagination; it is a form of greeting, and for a first visit to somebody's elders, or a household where mithai is the expected shape of the gesture, it is the correct thing and a candle is a substitution nobody asked for. The argument for home fragrance gets strong in the other case: a list of ten households that will each receive several near-identical food boxes in the same week, where the fourth one is not really a gift any more. Duplication, not quality, is what the candle is answering.
| Total you have | Per head | What it buys, ten identical | Order total | Left over |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹4,000 ★ | ₹400 | Ten jar candles at ₹379, one scent | ₹3,790 | ₹210 |
| ₹4,500 | ₹450 | Ten Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh at ₹449 | ₹4,490 | ₹10 |
| ₹5,000 | ₹500 | Ten at ₹449, or ten wax melts at ₹474 | ₹4,490 / ₹4,740 | ₹510 / ₹260 |
| ₹7,000 | ₹700 | Ten two-packs at ₹664 — double the burn time | ₹6,640 | ₹360 |
| ₹7,500 | ₹750 | Ten Morning Freshness reeds at ₹749 — the category changes | ₹7,490 | ₹10 |
Where a budget stops and the reed line starts
The number to know is ₹749. That is the cheapest SOSA reed diffuser — Morning Freshness in 50ml — and there is nothing in the reed line below it at any size. The cheapest machine is the Boond at ₹899. For ten people that means a total of ₹7,490 before the reed becomes an option at all. If your budget is ₹4,000 or ₹5,000, the reed is simply not part of this decision, and every honest version of this page has to say so rather than steering you towards something adjacent and hoping you do not notice the difference.
What the extra money buys is duration, and it is a large difference rather than a marginal one. A ₹379 jar candle is roughly fifteen to eighteen hours; the ₹664 two-pack is roughly thirty to thirty-six. A 50ml reed runs six to eight weeks continuously, needs no lighting, no supervision and no follow-up, and is still working in December. Below ₹749 a head you are buying an occasion; at ₹749 you are buying a season. Both are real gifts. They are just not the same gift, and a budget page that blurs them is not much use to anybody.
What to buy for ten on a budget, in order
In the order I would place it, with the ten-unit total beside each. The last row is the honest gap, given a row of its own because on a budget page the thing you cannot afford is as important as the thing you can.
| Buy | What it is | When it is the right row | Unit · ten |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Jar candle, one scent × 10 ★ | 80g soy, message-free, roughly 15–18 hours | The default when the total is around ₹4,000 | ₹379 · ₹3,790 |
| 2. Sandalwood or Smoked Oudh × 10 | The named-material tier — the strongest-looking sub-₹500 gift | When the total reaches ₹4,500 and appearance matters | ₹449 · ₹4,490 |
| 3. Wax melts × 10 | Scent without a flame, for households with small children | When the list includes homes where a lit candle is a nuisance | ₹474 · ₹4,740 |
| 4. Jar candle two-pack × 10 | Two jars, roughly 30–36 hours between them | When the total is nearer ₹7,000 and you want to stay with candles | ₹664 · ₹6,640 |
| 5. Ask, above roughly 25 units | One message before you order, not after | Whenever the list grows and one scent has to cover all of it | No terms quoted |
| No reed below ₹749: the honest gap | The reed line starts at ₹749 and the machines at ₹899 — nothing exists below | Ten reeds is ₹7,490, and it changes the gift from an evening to 6–8 weeks. If the budget cannot reach it, the candle is the honest answer, not a compromise | ₹749 · ₹7,490 |
Versailles
I have watched a great many people shop for ten gifts, and the ones who find it stressful are almost always the ones who have not divided. They are carrying a total in their head, and every product they look at is measured against a number that has nothing to do with it. Twenty minutes of that and the list starts fragmenting — a few of these, a couple of those — which is how you end up with ten gifts that do not look like a decision.
The division is not really about money. It is about reducing the store to one row so that you only have to make one choice. Once you know you are shopping at ₹379 or at ₹449, everything else on the site is irrelevant, and the remaining decision — which scent — takes a minute rather than an afternoon.
The other thing I would say, gently, is that a budget is not something to apologise for. A ₹379 candle bought ten times, one scent, handed over the same way to everybody, is a better-looking gesture than an expensive gift given to two people and a cheaper one to eight. Nobody counts what you spent. Everybody notices whether they got what the person beside them got. Everything is made in Pune, and part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
