Two different problems are hiding inside this one question, and people try to solve them with a single number. One is a size problem: when the family comes, the house is full, the doors are open and the ground floor is one busy volume. The other is a calendar problem: for most of the year it is a locked building with nobody in it. These are answered by different parts of a specification, and the useful move is to stop treating them as one question.
Two decisions, one piece of equipment. SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999 - published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, which settles the fullest day, and controlled with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, day scheduling and adjustable intensity from a Bluetooth app or the buttons on it, which settles the rest of the year. Waterless, under 38 dB, with auto-stop, a key-lock and four 100 ml fragrances in the box.
Quick answers — read this first
What fragrance suits a large India home that is only used during family visits? One specified for the busiest day and scheduled for the rest of the year. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is published for up to 1000 m3, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, and it has run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, set from a Bluetooth app or the buttons on it.
Does one machine handle a large house when everybody is there? It handles a connected volume of up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, which in most large houses is the open ground floor with its stairwell. Bedrooms behind closed doors are not part of that volume, and reed diffusers from ₹749 are the honest answer for those. No figure is published for what a second machine would add.
Does it have to work while the house is empty? No, and that is the point of the scheduling. Run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days, adjustable intensity, auto-stop and a key-lock mean it works when the house is in use and not otherwise. It is also waterless, so there is no reservoir for anybody to keep filling.
The short answer
Short answer: Treat it as two decisions. Size is settled by how much of the ground floor is one connected volume when the doors are open, and the calendar is settled by scheduling. SOSA Vaayu is Rs 11,999 for up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected air, under 38 dB, with 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows on chosen days.
The pick: A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for the connected ground floor, with reed diffusers from ₹749 in the guest bedrooms that close - the two decisions answered separately.
Why: The coverage figure answers the fullest day, the scheduling answers the empty months, and neither one has to be compromised to get the other.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
It is a large house in India used mainly during family visits - empty much of the time, full when everybody comes. What suits that pattern?
Separate the two questions and both become easy. The size question is about the fullest day, and it is decided by how much of the ground floor is genuinely one connected body of air when the internal doors are open, not by the built area on the plan. The calendar question is about the rest of the year, and it is decided by whether the equipment can be told to stay off. It is worth noticing that nothing in home fragrance usually answers both: a passive bottle handles neither well in a house like this, because it works through the empty months and it only reaches the area immediately around it on the full ones. SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 answers them separately, which is why it suits this pattern: waterless cold-air diffusion, a dry residue-free mist with no water and no heat, published for up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours with day scheduling and adjustable intensity, under 38 dB, DC 12V / 1A at 5W, 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, made in India, and supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances of 100 ml each. The two honest limits stand as they always do. A coverage figure assumes one connected body of air, so bedrooms behind doors are not inside it. And fragrance adds a scent - it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and a residue-free mist is a statement about residue on surfaces rather than about air quality. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Specify it for the day the whole family is in the house. Schedule it for the eight months when nobody is, and stop trying to make one number do both jobs.
The short version: Vaayu at ₹11,999 sized for the connected ground floor and scheduled for the empty months - up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, under 38 dB, 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows, four 100 ml fragrances in the box.
The two decisions behind this, and the specification that serves both
Three sections, and the first two are the two decisions. The third is the specification, including the parts of it SOSA does not publish.
1
Decision one
Size it for the day the house is at its fullest
When the family comes, a large house behaves like one room. The internal doors get propped open, people move between the kitchen, the dining table and the hall continuously, and the whole ground floor becomes a single moving body of air. That is the condition to specify for, and it is the generous reading of the house rather than the cautious one.
Vaayu publishes up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, which almost nothing else in home fragrance publishes at all. Read the caveat with the number: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure is cubic, and the square-foot line is a translation that assumes an ordinary ceiling - so a double-height hall uses more of the allowance than its floor suggests.
The part people resist hearing is that the upstairs bedrooms are not in the sum. They have doors, and the doors get closed at night, which is the point of them. That is not a shortfall in the machine, it is what the specification says, and the answer for those rooms is reed diffusers from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 put out before people come. On anything larger than one connected floor, SOSA publishes no figure for what a second machine would add.
Tip: Specify for the fullest day, and accept that rooms with doors are a separate, cheaper answer.
2
Decision two
Schedule it for the months when nobody is in the house
This is a completely separate decision and it is the one that makes a machine sensible in a house used a few weeks a year. Control is by Bluetooth app together with the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock.
Read what that gives you in practice. A house full of people for ten days at Diwali is a different setting from the same house with two people in it for a weekend, and intensity is adjustable rather than fixed. The months when nobody is there are simply days that are not chosen. And the key-lock means it is not a machine somebody can start by mistake, which matters when a house is opened up by people who did not buy the equipment.
It is also waterless, and that removes the routine a water-based machine would impose here. The ultrasonics - Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 - need water and regular refilling, which is only possible when somebody is in the building. Vaayu takes no water at all, and operation is published under 38 dB, so a full house does not have to talk over it either.
3
The specification
What comes in the box, and the figures SOSA does not publish
It is complete when it is opened. Every unit is supplied with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at the same ₹11,999. So it can work for the first visit with nothing else bought, which matters when the buyer is not the person opening the house. Afterwards SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm; it takes alcohol-free, water-free oil made for cold-air diffusion, and the water-based bottles on the site belong to the ultrasonic machines instead.
The figure that is published twice. The product page states the life of a 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more in its body copy - and either way it moves with the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, which on a house used during visits will be a small fraction of a full-time house. Nobody should plan around a single number; ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
And the figures that do not exist. No warranty period, no service interval, no installation service, no running-cost figure, no app name and no connection range are published, so none of them appear here. Wall and HVAC mounting is listed as an option; how it is fixed is a matter for whoever looks after the house, not for SOSA.
Tip: Complete in the box, which matters when the buyer is not the person opening the house.
Read the number strictly, not generously
About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of air that is actually connected
Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. The caveat matters more than the number. A rating assumes one connected body of air. A ground floor that runs living into dining into a stairwell is one volume and is exactly what the figure describes. A bungalow of the same total area with six closed doors is not one volume, it is six rooms, and the figure does not transfer. Work out how much of the house is genuinely open before you work out anything else - and note that no guidance is published on what a second unit adds.
How to get this right, in two decisions rather than one
Walk the ground floor with the doors propped open and see what is joined.
Specify for that fullest condition, not for the built area on the drawing.
Put reeds from Rs 749 in the guest bedrooms, because those rooms have doors.
Set the run windows and chosen days, then ask on WhatsApp about the fill.
The SOSA principle
An intermittently used house asks two separate questions, and most gift-buying collapses them into one. How much air is joined together on the busiest day is a question about the building. Whether anything is working in March is a question about the calendar, and a published schedule answers it without touching the first decision at all.
That is why one machine plus a few bottles beats any single purchase here: the two decisions have different right answers, and there is no reason to make one of them badly.
The sets in the box, and what it takes once those are finished
Three published four-scent sets and one price, ₹11,999, so nothing is being held back at a higher tier. They pair Ritz-Carlton with Westin, St. Regis and 1 Hotels inspirations; Westin with Shangri-La, Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton; and St. Regis with W Hotels, 1 Hotels and Four Seasons. To be clear about the names: these are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations, composed by SOSA, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. In a house used for family gatherings the four bottles do a specific job. A ground floor with thirty people on it takes a fragrance differently from the same floor with four, and having four registers to work with means the intensity setting is not the only variable anybody has. If none of the four is the one, the waterless nebuliser oils at ₹1,049 for 100 gm are a small correction rather than a costly one.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to cover this house, and what each one actually does
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
SOSA Vaayu · ₹11,999
Sized for the connected ground floor at up to about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, scheduled in 1, 4, 8 or 24-hour windows on chosen days, adjustable intensity, auto-stop, key-lock, waterless, under 38 dB, four 100 ml fragrances in the box. It does not reach the bedrooms once their doors are shut, and no page should claim it does.
SOSA Meenar · ₹38,500
Published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft - commercial equipment for a hotel, a showroom or a corporate floor. Worth naming because a large house tempts people towards it. For a family home it is not the thorough answer, it is the wrong specification, and the catalogue holds nothing between the two.
Reed diffusers for the bedrooms · ₹749 to ₹1,349
The correct answer for rooms with doors, at about 6 to 10 weeks a bottle, with nothing to plug in and nothing to operate. Put out before people come rather than left standing in a locked house. It is not a second-best version of the machine; it is the right tool for an enclosed room.
A reed duo set · ₹1,498 to ₹2,598
Two bottles in one box, which makes it the gift-shaped version of the same idea for a guest wing. Only three pairings exist and none is composed to order, and both bottles in a set are the same size. It fails if it is being asked to answer a full open ground floor on a day when the house is busy.
The two details that matter in a finished house
Under 38 dB, and it runs only when you tell it to
Two published details decide whether this belongs in a house somebody spent years on. It runs under 38 dB, which is the answer to the reasonable worry about a machine humming in a double-height living room. And it is scheduled: Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, chosen days and adjustable intensity, with auto-stop and a key-lock. That is what makes it workable in a house occupied for part of the year, or a room used only when people come over. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, and it ships with four 100 ml fragrances - so it is complete on the day it arrives.
The rest of the range, in one pass. The ultrasonic machines - Boond at ₹899, Sukoon at ₹1,899 and Megh at ₹5,999 - are water-based and made for a single room, and the water is the problem in a house like this rather than the price. SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is the cordless portable; it belongs to a person and goes to a car with them rather than scenting a property, and it is imported rather than made in India. SOSA attars from ₹379 are worn rather than placed, and candles from ₹399 need a flame and somebody to light them, with no burn-hour figure published. All of them are honest products for other questions. This question is a large connected ground floor that is busy for a fortnight and locked for the rest of the year, and that is a specification problem plus a calendar problem.
₹11,999. Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume. A 400ml tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h run windows and adjustable intensity. Under 38 dB.
165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding on a surface or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with auto-stop and a key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS marks.
Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets. So it is complete on arrival, which matters more for a gift than it sounds.
four x 100 ml included
The number this whole decision turns on, and where it stops being true
Up to 1000 m3 - about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft - of connected air
SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing else in home fragrance does: up to 1000 m3, stated on the product page as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft. It is a waterless cold-air machine producing a dry, residue-free mist with no water and no heat, running under 38 dB on DC 12V / 1A at 5W, with a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, in black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, CE, RoHS and SGS marked, and its country of origin is India. But a coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. That figure describes an open-plan living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall - the kind of volume a small passive bottle cannot reach. It does not describe a bungalow with every internal door closed, because that is not one volume; it is six. Above about 3,000 sq ft of genuinely connected space, or across separated wings, the honest answer is a conversation rather than a number, because no multi-unit guidance is published. SOSA Meenar at ₹38,500 is published for 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft and is a commercial machine rather than a house gift.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
How much air is joined together is a fact about the house. Whether anything is working in March is a fact about the calendar. Buy for both, separately.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much air it is meant to handle
Up to 1000 m3, stated as about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft of connected volume - a 400ml tank, Bluetooth app and onboard buttons, 1h/4h/8h/24h scheduling, adjustable intensity, under 38 dB
Worn on the body rather than placed in a room - the right answer when the gift is about the person and not the house
from ₹379
A coverage rating assumes one connected body of air. Vaayu's figure describes an open-plan volume - a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level, a double-height hall. A house with every internal door shut is not one volume, and the figure does not transfer to it. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, and its country of origin is India. Fragrance adds a scent to a space; it does not remove, neutralise or purify one, and the dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue rather than about air quality. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the Vaayu page publishes, and what it does not
Everything below is on the live product page. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The machine - waterless cold-air diffusion, dry and residue-free, no water and no heat. 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm, 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. DC 12V / 1A, 5W. Under 38 dB. Auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS. Country of origin India.
Control - a 400ml refillable tank, Bluetooth app plus onboard buttons, run windows of 1h, 4h, 8h or 24h, day scheduling and adjustable intensity. This is what makes it workable in a house that is empty for stretches, or a room used only at weekends.
In the box - every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each, in one of three published four-scent sets, all at ₹11,999. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
The fragrance - alcohol-free, water-free oils formulated for cold-air diffusion. SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm and are published for Vaayu and Safar. The water-based ultrasonic bottles belong to a different kind of machine.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long a 400ml fill lasts as a single figure - the page says about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another; what a second unit adds; any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; and any running or electricity cost. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure whether the house needs a machine or a bottle? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: roughly how much of the ground floor is one connected open volume, whether the internal doors stay open or shut, how often the house is actually occupied, and what you want to spend. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is a reed diffuser from ₹749 or a duo set from ₹1,498 rather than a machine. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: what a second unit adds, any warranty period, any installation service, any running or electricity cost, and any app or Bluetooth compatibility detail. One thing to check before you buy: the Vaayu page states the life of a 400ml fill two different ways - about 75 days in one place and 90 or more in another - and it depends on intensity and scheduled hours in any case, so ask rather than plan around a number. Every Vaayu ships with four SOSA Hotel Collection fragrances, 100 ml each; SOSA waterless nebuliser refills are ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities and anything commercial are settled on WhatsApp rather than priced on a page. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
The messages I find hardest to answer are the ones that begin with an apology. They have just finished building the house. I don't want to sound cheap, but I also can't buy them anything that matters at that scale. And underneath it is a real anxiety: that after years of drawings and delays and site visits, whatever you turn up with will look like a token.
What I would say is that the anxiety is aimed at the wrong thing. You are not competing with the house. Nobody is. The people who built it spent two years choosing between four shades of the same stone, and there is no object you can hand over that will register on that scale. Trying is how people end up buying a vase that gets moved to a spare room.
The reason I keep coming back to scent for these particular houses is unromantic. It is the last layer, and it is the only one nobody planned. An architect resolves the volume, a designer resolves the surfaces, a lighting consultant resolves the evening, and then everybody stops - because scent is not on anybody's drawing. So it is one of the few things left that adds to a finished house without arguing with a single decision already made in it.
The part I would be careful about is the number. Vaayu publishes a coverage figure, which almost nothing in home fragrance does, and I would rather you read it strictly than generously. About 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, of air that is actually connected. A ground floor that opens living into dining into a stairwell is that. A bungalow with six closed doors is not that, whatever its total square footage says on paper, and a page that blurs the two is doing you no favours.
Frequently asked questions
Will one machine be enough for a large house during a family visit?
It is published for a connected volume of up to 1000 cubic metres, stated as approximately 2,000 to 3,000 square feet, which in most large houses is the open ground floor with its stairwell when the internal doors are propped open. Bedrooms behind closed doors are outside that volume. No figure is published for what a second machine would add, so anything larger is a WhatsApp conversation.
Can it be left alone for months between visits?
It can be set not to work at all in that time. Control is by Bluetooth app together with the buttons on the unit, with run windows of 1, 4, 8 or 24 hours, day scheduling and adjustable intensity, plus auto-stop and a key-lock so nobody starts it by accident. It is waterless, so there is no reservoir that needs somebody in the house to keep filling it.
What about the guest bedrooms upstairs?
Those are a separate and much cheaper decision. A room with a door that closes is an enclosed volume of its own, and a reed diffuser from Rs 749, or a duo set from Rs 1,498, is the right tool for it. Only three duo pairings exist and none is composed to order. Put them out before people come rather than leaving them standing in an empty house.
How often does it need refilling?
The tank is 400 ml and refillable, and the product page states its life two different ways - about 75 days in its specification data and 90 or more days in its body copy. Both move with the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, and a house used during visits schedules far fewer hours than a full-time one. Ask SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than working to a single number.
Will it be audible with the house full of people?
It is published as operating under 38 dB, which is the figure that matters in a large open hall in either condition, full or empty. It is 165 x 80.5 x 215 mm and 0.9 kg, black or white, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted. SOSA does not publish an installation service, a warranty period or any running-cost figure, so none of those is stated here.

About the coverage figure: a rating assumes one connected body of air. The published figure describes an open-plan volume such as a living-dining floor, a duplex's main level or a double-height hall, and does not describe a property whose rooms are separated by closed doors, whatever its total floor area. No guidance is published on what a second unit adds. About tank life: the Vaayu product page states the life of one 400 ml fill in two different ways - approximately 75 days in its specification and FAQ data, and 90 or more days in its body copy - and in either case it depends on the intensity setting and the scheduled hours, so no single figure is stated on this page. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any warranty period, service interval or filter; any installation service; any app name, phone compatibility or Bluetooth range; any running or electricity cost; and any multi-unit coverage. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a space. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim; a dry residue-free mist is a statement about residue and not about air quality. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing, nor about how any recipient or guest will feel, nor about what a gift does for any business result. No page here characterises any recipient's wealth or describes people who own particular kinds of property; where a property value appears it is the figure the reader themselves supplied as context. SOSA blends described as hotel-inspired are SOSA's own interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand.
