The awkward part of your first married Diwali is not the budget and it is not the travelling. It is that most gift categories quietly pick one person out of a household, and you are now arriving as two people, at two sets of relatives, with no wish to be seen ranking anybody. A worn thing belongs to one body. A read thing belongs to one reader. A placed thing belongs to the address, which is the only unit that covers a couple, a couple with a parent living in, and a house of seven, without you having to decide which of them the gift is really for.
One recipient per house, whatever shape the house is. A 50ml SOSA reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹849, or a duo set from ₹1,498 where you are staying the week - published to last 6 to 8 weeks, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle. Placed rather than worn, so no size, no diet and nobody singled out, and no flame, no socket and nothing to switch on.
Quick answers — read this first
What gift works for a couple rather than for one person? One addressed to the home they share. A SOSA reed diffuser is placed rather than worn, so the recipient is the household: ₹749 to ₹849 in 50ml, published to last 6 to 8 weeks, with no flame, no socket and nothing to switch on. Nobody in the house has to be singled out and nobody is left holding nothing.
Does one gift per household look like less effort than one each? That is a judgement about your own family, and this page will not pretend to settle it. What can be said is what changes: a household gift removes the ranking problem entirely, because there is one recipient at each address rather than three or four with an implied order. The duo sets at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 exist when one bottle would look thin against a week of hospitality.
How should a newly married couple split this across both families? Keep the format identical on both sides and let the scent vary, so no household can be have been given a larger version. Published prices are ₹749 for Morning Freshness, ₹799 for Garden Bloom and Evening Calm and ₹849 for Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew in 50ml. Whether that lands the way you intend is not something SOSA can tell you.
The short answer
Short answer: Pick a format whose recipient is an address rather than a person. A SOSA reed diffuser is placed, not worn: Rs 749 to Rs 849 in 50ml, published to last 6 to 8 weeks, with no flame, no socket and no size or diet to guess. Nothing here can tell you how it will be received.
Why: It is placed rather than worn, so the recipient is the home itself: no individual is singled out, nobody is left out, and no size or personal taste has to be guessed.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
My husband and I are spending our first married Diwali visiting both sides of the family and want one gift format that works for couples and households rather than individuals. What should it be?
A format whose natural recipient is an address. That sounds abstract and it decides everything, because the categories split cleanly on this one line. Anything worn on the body, anything sized, anything read and most things eaten are addressed to a person, and the moment you hand one over in a room with four people in it you have made a choice about which of them mattered. Anything placed is addressed to the home, and a home can be a couple, a couple with a parent living in, or a joint household of nine. A SOSA reed diffuser is ₹749 for Morning Freshness, ₹799 for Garden Bloom and Evening Calm, and ₹849 for Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew in 50ml, and ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 in 130ml. Published life is 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle on a coconut-derived CCT carrier - phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Practically it also asks nothing on the day: no flame, no socket, no switch, nothing to demonstrate. Two limits worth stating plainly. SOSA publishes no coverage or room-size figure for a reed diffuser, so nobody can tell you how it will sit in a particular home. And nothing here can tell you how either family will receive it - SOSA has no information of that kind and no page should manufacture some. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A worn gift has one recipient. A placed gift has one recipient too - the house - which is why it scales from a couple to a household of nine without a single extra decision.
The format, in one line: a 50ml reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹849, one per address, published at 6 to 8 weeks, with nothing to switch on and no sizes to guess.
Who the gift is addressed to, and why that settles the format
Three questions, and the first one is about grammar rather than shopping: who, exactly, is the recipient of each thing on your list?
1
The first question
Who is each candidate gift actually addressed to?
Go through the list and name the recipient out loud. It is a strangely clarifying exercise because the answer is rarely the one you assumed.
A saree, a watch, an attar, a kurta are addressed to one body. Handing one to a couple means handing it to one of them while the other watches. A box of food is nominally shared and is still addressed to whoever decides what the house eats. A framed print or a vase is addressed to whoever owns the wall, and it also asks for permanent space in a room you may never see again.
A placed household object is addressed to the address. There is exactly one recipient and it is the home, which means a couple counts as one, a couple plus a parent counts as one, and a joint family counts as one. That is the property that makes a single format work across both sides of a family with different shapes of household in it.
Tip: Name the recipient of each item on your list. Most of them name a person, not a home.
2
The second question
What does it cost the household to accept?
The second filter is what happens after you leave, and it separates the placed things from each other.
A decorative object asks for permanent space and renewed approval. It has to stay out, and if it stops being out somebody has to have a reason. A candle asks for somebody to light it and stay in the room with it, which not every household does. An appliance asks for a socket and a place on a counter that is usually already full.
A reed diffuser asks for a flat surface, and then it finishes by itself - 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml. No flame, no socket, no switch, no batteries. Nobody has to account later for why it is no longer out, because ending was always the plan. One clarification while we are here: fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify a smell, and it does not clean the air.
3
The third question
One bottle or two, across two sets of relatives
Keep the format the same on both sides. That is the one piece of practical advice on this page and you can check it against your own situation: if the two families end up holding visibly different classes of gift, you have created a comparison that nobody asked for. Identical format, varying scent, is the version with no ranking in it.
Sizes follow the visit. 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 for an evening or an afternoon. 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 for the households where you are staying. The duo sets at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2 for the house that has put you up for a week - and those three pairings are the entire set range, none is composed to order, and both bottles in a set are the same size.
And the presentation gap, because two people planning a trip will otherwise assume it away. Custom label or logo on product is SOSA's only branding. There is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card. There is no carton, no ribbon and no message card. Bulk orders are welcome with no published rate, no minimum quantity and no price break; anything involving several households is settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Tip: Same format both sides, different scents, and arrange any wrapping yourself.
The property that makes this work as a first-visit gift
A consumable is not an object somebody has to keep
The real fear behind a first-visit gift is not that it will be disliked. It is that it will have to be kept - displayed, dusted, and eventually explained if it disappears. A decorative object carries all of that into a home you have never seen. A reed diffuser does not, because it ends by itself. The published life makes that concrete: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849, and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349. It also asks nothing of anybody on the day - no flame, no socket, no switch, nothing to demonstrate. And if they do like it, the glass bottle is refillable, with refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents.
How two people settle this once for both sides of a family
Name the recipient of every item on your list: a person, or an address.
Keep only the ones addressed to the address.
Use one format on both sides so no family holds the lesser version.
Vary the scent, not the category, and size it by the length of the visit.
The SOSA principle
The difficulty in a first married Diwali is not generosity. It is that two families are now watching the same set of decisions, and almost every gift category forces you to pick one person inside each house.
A gift addressed to the home removes that choice rather than getting it right, which is a much easier thing to guarantee.
Sizes, sets, and what is not on offer
Five scents, all in the same two sizes, so the format holds while the bottle changes. Morning Freshness at ₹749 is Malabar lemon and mint. Garden Bloom at ₹799 is British rose and night-blooming jasmine. Evening Calm at ₹799 is lavender and chamomile. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar. Fresh Brew at ₹849 is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla. Every one is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle and a suggestion to flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection - the pages state that interval slightly differently, so no single figure is given here as a rule.
The SOSA gift edit
Who each format is really addressed to
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A 50ml reed diffuser · ₹749 to ₹849
Addressed to the address, so a couple is one recipient and so is a household of nine. Published at 6 to 8 weeks, no flame and no socket, and it ends by itself. It fails if you specifically wanted to give each person something of their own.
Two individual gifts, one each · any price
Right when you know both people well and can buy for each of them properly. It fails on cost and on information across a whole extended family, and it puts you in the position of matching two gifts in value inside every house.
A large assembled gift box · any price
Shared out across a household easily, which suits a big house. It fails on diet, which no food gift can avoid, and it is heavy to carry between two cities and several homes across a week.
A decorative object · any price
The one that looks like the most effort. It fails slowly: it asks for permanent space and renewed approval in a room you have not seen, and unlike a consumable it cannot end without somebody having to explain its absence.
When one bottle is not quite the right size of gesture
The three duo sets - and they are the only three
Several of these situations want something a little larger without becoming complicated: a first formal visit, a weekend stay, a household that has just hosted you for a week. The published answer is a duo set - two bottles in one box. Day & Night pairs Morning Freshness with Evening Calm at ₹1,498; Fresh & Grounded pairs Morning Freshness with Mountain Breeze at ₹1,548; Warmth & Bloom pairs Fresh Brew with Garden Bloom at ₹1,598. In 130ml x 2 they are ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598. Those three pairings are the entire set range, none is composed to order, and both bottles in a set are the same size. On presentation, be straight with yourself before you order: custom label or logo on product is the only branding SOSA offers - there is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card.
Two things sit next door to this decision. SOSA attars from ₹379 in 3ml are worn on the body, which makes them a personal gift for one named person - useful later, when you know your new relatives well enough to buy for them individually, and the wrong unit for a first round of house visits. The duo sets - Day & Night at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded at ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom at ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2 and ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2 - are still a household gift, just a larger one. Those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order, so if you were planning to choose two particular scents for a particular house, that is not offered.
₹749 to ₹849 across five scents, published to last 6 to 8 weeks. Large enough to be a proper object, small enough that the household never has to find permanent space for it.
₹1,249 to ₹1,349, published to last 14 to 18 weeks. The same object with more of it - the honest way to make the gesture larger without making it more complicated.
Two bottles in one box, ₹1,498 to ₹1,598 in 50ml and ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml. Three published pairings, and those three are the whole range - none is composed to order.
from ₹1,498
Why this category answers a first-visit problem at all
It finishes. That is the entire argument, and it is a fact rather than a claim.
The fear behind almost every first-visit gift question is the same one: that you will hand somebody an object they now have to keep. A vase has to be displayed. A framed thing has to go on a wall. A decorative piece has to survive somebody's taste, and you have never seen the room. A reed diffuser is a consumable, so it carries none of that. It sits somewhere for a while and then it is gone, and nobody has to explain why it is no longer out. The published life makes that concrete rather than vague: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml (₹749 to ₹849) and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml (₹1,249 to ₹1,349). It also asks nothing of the household on the day: no flame, no socket, no switch, no batteries and nothing to explain at a front door - it works by standing there, with 6 fibre reeds in a refillable glass bottle, on a CCT coconut-derived carrier that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection. What anybody makes of being given one is not something SOSA can tell you, and no page should pretend otherwise.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
Almost every gift category picks one person out of a room. A gift addressed to the home is the one format that does not make you choose.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹749 to ₹849 across five scents. Published to last 6 to 8 weeks, with 6 fibre reeds and a refillable glass bottle. No flame, no socket, nothing to switch on
Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2; ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2. These three pairings are the whole set range
From ₹379 in 3ml. An attar is a personal gift and a reed diffuser is a household one - which is the distinction most first-visit questions are really about
Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999 - they need a socket, water and regular refilling. That is a commitment to hand somebody on a first visit
from ₹899
A reed diffuser is a consumable, which is the whole argument for it as a first-visit gift. It is not a permanent object competing for a shelf in somebody else's home, and it needs no flame, no socket, no switch and no explanation at a front door. Published life is 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, with 6 fibre reeds per bottle, a refillable glass bottle, and a CCT coconut-derived carrier that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, made in India. Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection - the product pages state the interval slightly differently, between every three and every seven days. Fragrance adds a scent to a room; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the SOSA reed pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The five scents and their prices - Morning Freshness, Malabar lemon and mint, ₹749 and ₹1,249; Garden Bloom, British rose and night-blooming jasmine, ₹799 and ₹1,299; Evening Calm, lavender and chamomile, ₹799 and ₹1,299; Mountain Breeze, Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, ₹849 and ₹1,349; Fresh Brew, Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, ₹849 and ₹1,349.
Published life - 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml and 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, stated on all five pages. This is newer and more specific than the flat figure earlier SOSA writing used.
The format - 6 fibre reeds per bottle rather than rattan, a refillable glass bottle, and a CCT carrier (caprylic/capric triglyceride, coconut-derived) that is phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant. Made in India, formulated by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles trained. No flame, no socket, no switch.
Flip the reeds roughly once a week to refresh projection. The pages state it slightly differently - once a week on three of them, every five to seven days on one, every three to five on another - so treat it as about weekly rather than as a rule.
Duo sets and refills - three published pairings at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 in 50ml x 2 and ₹2,498 to ₹2,598 in 130ml x 2, and refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents. Those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: any coverage or room-size figure for a reed diffuser; how a scent behaves in a particular home; any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time; any presentation packaging beyond a custom label or logo on product; and anything whatsoever about how a gift is received. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Not sure how big the gesture should be? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: whose home you are going to and how well you know them, whether you are staying or visiting for an evening, roughly what you want to spend, and whether anybody in the household has said anything about scent. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue - including the times the honest answer is the 50ml at ₹749 rather than anything larger. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: any coverage or room-size figure for a reed diffuser, any bulk rate, minimum quantity or lead time, and anything at all about how a gift is received. What is: 6 to 8 weeks for the 50ml, 14 to 18 weeks for the 130ml, 6 fibre reeds, a refillable glass bottle, and refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml in all five scents. On presentation, be warned: custom label or logo on product is the one branding option - there is no custom box, no printed sleeve and no insert card, and there is no carton, no ribbon and no message card, so anything you want wrapped is yours to arrange. Where SOSA is: an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, with no shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city.

A note from Sonal
A particular kind of message arrives on our WhatsApp, usually in the evening, usually slightly rushed. I am going to his parents' place on Sunday. I have never met them. I cannot go empty-handed and I have no idea what they like. It is one of the few gifting questions where the person is not really shopping. They are trying not to get something wrong in front of people whose opinion they have decided matters.
So the useful thing is not a recommendation, it is a subtraction. Most of what goes wrong with a first-visit gift is permanence. A decorative object has to be kept, displayed, and eventually explained if it is not. Food runs into what people eat. Anything personal runs into taste you have not earned the right to guess at yet. What is left is the category that ends by itself, and that is genuinely why a reed diffuser keeps coming up in those messages.
The part I would want you to hold on to is the least romantic part. The 50ml is published to last six to eight weeks, and the 130ml fourteen to eighteen. It has no flame, no plug and no switch, so nobody has to be shown how it works while their family stands in a doorway. It is a glass bottle and six fibre reeds, and it does the whole job by standing on a surface.
And the part I will not pretend about: I cannot tell you how anybody will take it. Nobody selling you a gift can, and the ones who promise it are selling you reassurance rather than a product. What I can tell you is what the object is, how long it lasts and what it asks of the person receiving it - which is very little. What that is worth on a Sunday afternoon in somebody's living room is yours to judge, not mine.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good gift for a couple rather than for one of them?
Something placed rather than worn, because the recipient is then the home they share. A SOSA reed diffuser is Rs 749 to Rs 849 in 50ml and Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 in 130ml, published to last 6 to 8 weeks and 14 to 18 weeks, with no flame, no socket and nothing to switch on. Whether one gift per household suits your family is your judgement, and nothing here can tell you how it will be received.
Should both sides of the family get exactly the same thing?
There is no rule to hand you, only a practical observation you can test against your own situation: if the two sides end up holding visibly different classes of gift, a comparison exists that nobody intended. Keeping the format identical and letting the scent differ is the version with no ranking built into it.
Is a 50ml enough, or should it be the 130ml?
Size it by the length of the visit rather than by the household. The 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 is published to last 6 to 8 weeks and suits an evening or an afternoon call. The 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 lasts 14 to 18 weeks and suits the homes where you are staying. Duo sets run Rs 1,498 to Rs 1,598 in 50ml x 2 for the household that hosts you longest.
Can two scents be chosen and boxed together for one house?
No. Three duo sets are published and they are the only three: Day and Night at Rs 1,498, Fresh and Grounded at Rs 1,548 and Warmth and Bloom at Rs 1,598 in 50ml x 2, or Rs 2,498 to Rs 2,598 in 130ml x 2. None is composed to order and both bottles in a set are the same size.
We need quite a few. What does SOSA publish about quantity?
Bulk orders are welcome and nothing is published alongside them - no bulk rate, no minimum quantity, no price break and no lead time. The list prices above are for a single bottle, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.

A duo set at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 or ₹1,598 for the household that puts you up longest. Tell SOSA how many homes and how long you are at each on WhatsApp - quantities are settled there, because no bulk rate is published.

Three duo combo sets are published: Day & Night at ₹1,498 in 50ml x 2 and ₹2,498 in 130ml x 2, Fresh & Grounded at ₹1,548 and ₹2,548, and Warmth & Bloom at ₹1,598 and ₹2,598; those three pairings are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Reed diffuser refills are ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, published for all five scents. For comparison: SOSA attars are ₹379 to ₹399 in 3ml, rising to ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 in 12ml, and are worn rather than placed; SOSA candles start at ₹399 and require a flame; the ultrasonic machines Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 are water-based and need a socket, water and regular refilling. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any coverage, room-size or square-footage figure for a reed diffuser; how a scent behaves in any particular home; any shelf life, oil concentration or evaporation rate; any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time; and any presentation packaging beyond a custom label or logo on product. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a room. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial or air-purifying claim. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep or wellbeing; where a product is named Evening Calm or Mountain Breeze that is a product name and not a claim about its effect. No claim is made about how any gift will be received. Nothing here states or implies that a gift will impress anybody, be appreciated, create a good impression or affect any relationship; SOSA publishes no information of that kind and none is invented here. No statement is made about what any community, religion or family customarily eats, drinks or gives, and no etiquette rule is presented as a fact - the reasoning offered is reasoning the reader can check against their own situation. No rating, review count or customer name from any product page is cited, and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
