Buy it if: you have an uncovered air space over about 200 sq ft, or you want scent on demand rather than always-on. Do not buy it if your three rooms are already right.
The alternative: ₹2,198 for the machine and a 15ml Hotel Collection, against ₹1,998 for a fourth 130ml at ₹1,249 and a 50ml at ₹749 — two more rooms for ₹200 less.
2. So ask the coverage question properly: is there an uncovered space over 200 sq ft? This is the only sizing reason to buy. If your three bottles are in two bedrooms and a bathroom, and the open living-dining has never had anything in it, then yes — that space is past what a passive bottle can charge, and a Sukoon at ₹1,899 with a 15ml Hotel Collection at ₹299 is ₹2,198 well spent. If every space you actually sit in already has a bottle, there is nothing here for the machine to do.
3. Then ask the better question: do you have a control problem? This is the honest reason most people should buy one. A reed diffuser has no switch. It is on at four in the morning, on while you are at work, on in an empty house — which is exactly why it is right for bedrooms and bathrooms, and exactly wrong if what you want is a living room lifted for two hours before people arrive and silent afterwards. The Sukoon is an on switch you are buying, not more square feet. If that is what you were missing, ₹2,198 buys it cleanly.
4. Never put a machine in a room that already has a bottle. This is the version of the purchase that is definitely not worth it. Two fragrances in one air space do not layer; they argue, and the result is less legible than either alone. You would also have paid twice for one room. If a room with a bottle in it is under-reading, the fixes in order are: all six reeds in, better placement, fresh reeds if the fibre has clogged, and only then a different product. The first three are free.
5. If the answer is no, here is what ₹2,198 buys instead. A fourth 130ml at ₹1,249 and a 50ml at ₹749 is ₹1,998 — two more scented rooms for ₹200 less than the machine, and no socket needed in either. Or spend nothing at all: putting the two spare reeds back into the bottles you own costs ₹0. Or buy the running cost down instead: a 500ml refill at ₹3,499 fills all three bottles once over with about 110ml left, since 3 × 130 = 390 and 500 − 390 = 110.

Why three bottles already out-cover the machine, and what the machine is really for
Start with the figures side by side, because the ordinary assumption is that a machine is the grown-up version of a bottle and it is not. One reed diffuser on six reeds holds a closed, still room of up to about 150 sq ft — roughly 1,350 cubic feet at a nine-foot ceiling — continuously, for fourteen to eighteen weeks, with no power, no water and nothing to operate. Three of them is about 450 sq ft of held air across three separate rooms. A Sukoon is rated to about 270–320 sq ft, in one room, while switched on. If you were shopping purely for square feet, you would not add a machine to three bottles; you would add a fourth bottle, and you would get 150 more sq ft for ₹1,249 rather than 270–320 for ₹2,198 in a room you may already be covering.
So the case for the machine has to be made on something other than area, and there are exactly two such cases. The first is a single air space too large for any passive source: an open living-dining of 250 to 320 sq ft with no door to hold the air still. A bottle cannot charge that, and neither can two bottles, because two passive sources in one volume give you two points of origin rather than a wider circle. A Sukoon can, because it atomises fragrance into a mist and propels it instead of waiting for the room to carry vapour. The second case is time rather than space. A reed diffuser is always on and a machine is only on when you say so, and for a living room that is a feature worth paying for — two hours before guests, nothing at midnight, nothing at all while the house is empty on a Tuesday. Neither of those cases is about the machine being stronger. One is about mechanism and one is about a switch, and if neither describes your home then three bottles have already answered the question.
The three decisions before you add a machine
One machine₹1,899Walk the flat and list the air spaces that have nothing in them. If one of those is an open living-dining over about 200 sq ft, you have found the purchase: a Sukoon at ₹1,899 with a 15ml Hotel Collection at ₹299 is ₹2,198 and covers about 270–320 sq ft. If the uncovered spaces are a passage and a spare room, you have not found a purchase — you have found two spaces that should stay empty. And do not reach past the Sukoon: the Megh at ₹3,499 covers about 215 sq ft, less than the Sukoon. Six litres buys runtime, not area.Sizing by space — when the fourth purchase is a machine and when it is not
You already own three bottles. This table is about the fourth thing you buy, and in two of these rows the correct fourth thing is nothing.
| Space | What it needs | How many | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| An uncovered open living-dining over about 200 sq ft ★ | Past what a passive bottle can charge — a Sukoon with a 15ml Hotel Collection, about 270–320 sq ft | One machine | ₹2,198 |
| A living room you want lifted for two hours, then silent | A control problem, not a coverage one — the machine is the switch a bottle cannot give you | One machine | ₹2,198 |
| Two more uncovered rooms, both under 150 sq ft | A fourth 130ml at ₹1,249 and a 50ml at ₹749 — two rooms, no sockets, ₹200 less than the machine | Two bottles | ₹1,998 |
| A room that already has a reed diffuser but reads quiet | Nothing yet. All six reeds in, move it near the doorway, fit fresh reeds if the fibre has clogged — all free, and usually enough | None | ₹0 |
| Three rooms that are all already right | Nothing. Buy the running cost down instead when they empty — a 500ml refill fills all three once with about 110ml over | None now | ₹0 |
| A bathroom, or the space beside your bed | Not a machine at any price — 35–45 sq ft cannot absorb one, and a bedroom does not want a socket and a switch beside the pillow | Keep the bottle | from ₹749 |
| A note on all of the above: the 450 sq ft figure for three bottles is three separate rated rooms added together, not a single area they cover jointly — coverage adds across closed doors and does not add inside one air space. All these numbers assume closed rooms, still air and a standard ceiling, and every one of them falls together when a balcony door is open. | |||

The two tests, and where the money goes instead
Run the coverage test first, honestly, from the doorway. Walk the flat and write down every air space with nothing in it, then put a square footage against each. The only entry that justifies a machine is a single space over about 200 sq ft — usually an open living-dining with no door to keep the air still. A kitchen, a passage and a spare bedroom do not qualify at any size, because a kitchen makes its own smells at full volume twice a day, a passage is measured in seconds of occupancy, and a room used twice a month is spending at full price on an empty room. While you are walking, check the three bottles you own: all six reeds in, out of direct sunlight, off the throw of an AC vent, near enough to a doorway for some gentle air movement. Judge each from outside the room, because olfactory adaptation is essentially complete in about twenty minutes.
Then run the control test, which is the one that usually decides it. Ask whether there has ever been a moment you wished you could turn a room down — or up, on demand, half an hour before people arrive. A reed diffuser cannot do either. Reed count is its only volume dial and it moves in weeks, not minutes: taking reeds out changes the room over a day or two, not before the doorbell. A Sukoon changes it in ten minutes and stops when you switch it off. If that is the gap in your setup, buy it and place it raised off the floor, away from a wall, out of the line between the balcony and the front door. Fill it with the water-based Hotel Collection at three to six drops a tank — a 15ml at ₹299 gives many fills, and The Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury or Four Seasons-inspired Warm Welcome suit a living room. Keep the liquids strictly separate: reed oil never goes in a Sukoon, Hotel Collection never goes in a reed bottle, and there is no hotel-inspired reed diffuser.
And if both tests came back no, spend the money on continuity instead. A fourth 130ml at ₹1,249 opens a fourth room; a 50ml at ₹749 opens a bathroom, the cheapest whole room in the house because everybody who walks into one arrives with a nose that has not adapted. Together that is ₹1,998 — ₹200 less than the machine, for two rooms rather than one. Or buy nothing now and buy better later: a 300ml refill at ₹2,399 works out at ₹8.00 a millilitre and a 500ml at ₹3,499 at ₹7.00, against ₹9.60 for a new 130ml and ₹15.00 for a 50ml. Nothing you can buy improves a home as reliably as the bottles you already own not being empty.
What to buy
You own three of these already. The useful lines now are the fourth bottle, the refill, and — only if one of the two tests came back yes — the machine.
| Buy | What it covers | Lasts | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| One 50ml | A single reed diffuser — a bathroom you have not covered yet — the cheapest whole room in the house, on two or three reeds | 6–8 weeks | from ₹749 |
| One 130ml ★ | The value size — a fourth room under 150 sq ft — 150 more sq ft for ₹1,249 rather than 320 for ₹2,198 | 14–18 weeks | from ₹1,249 |
| The duo | Day & Night duo — two rooms at once if you are covering a fourth and fifth together, then staggered so they do not coincide | 6–8 weeks each | ₹1,498 |
| Sukoon | 500ml ultrasonic — an uncovered space over about 200 sq ft, or a living room you want to be able to switch off | Runs when you switch it on | ₹1,899 |
| 300ml refill | The running cost — the better use of ₹2,399 if all three of your rooms are already right — ₹8.00 a millilitre against ₹9.60 | Roughly 2 × 130ml fills | ₹2,399 |
Versailles
I would rather you did not buy this one, most of the time. Three reed diffusers is about 450 square feet of rated coverage across three rooms and a Sukoon is 270 to 320 in one. Adding a machine to three bottles is not an upgrade in area; in area terms it is a smaller room than you already hold. That is an uncomfortable thing to print next to a ₹1,899 product, and it is true.
There are two good reasons to buy it anyway, and I want people to buy it for those reasons rather than by accident. One is a genuinely uncovered open living-dining over about 200 square feet, where no bottle was ever going to work. The other is that you want a switch. Reeds are always on, which is why they belong in bedrooms and bathrooms, and it is also why they are the wrong tool if what you wanted was a room lifted for two hours and then quiet.
If neither of those is you, the ₹2,198 is better spent as ₹1,998 on a fourth bottle and a bathroom bottle, or on nothing at all until the three you own run out. And please never put a machine into a room that already has a bottle in it — two fragrances in one air space argue with each other and you will have paid twice for a worse result. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
