If you have ever walked into a serene hotel spa and felt your shoulders drop, white tea is a large part of why. As a note it is soft, fresh and quietly green - never sweet, never heavy, never loud. The honest reason white tea is a home-fragrance staple is that it is hard to get wrong in a room. Bolder scents - smoke, heavy amber, strong florals - can be wonderful but demand the right moment. White tea is the one you can run from morning to night, in almost any room, with guests of every taste, and have everyone simply feel that the home is clean and calm. That versatility is why I built three different white-tea scents rather than one.
The three SOSA white-tea scents
Within the Hotel Collection, three of the seven scents are built around white tea, each my own interpretation of a hotel known for that clean style. The Westin-inspired White Tea Serenity pairs white tea with aloe and cedar - the most spa-clean of the three, made for bedrooms and bathrooms. The Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury sets white tea against bergamot and cedar - soft and expensive-smelling, my pick for a living-room signature. And the Shangri-La-inspired Tea Garden weaves jasmine and green tea through white tea - the most serene and green, lovely for quiet rooms and a study.
