This is the decision page for the family, so I am going to do the crossing-off in front of you rather than hand you the name at the end of it. There is one bottle left when your exclusion has been applied to my shelf, and the difference between a survivor and a recommendation is something you should be able to see for yourself.
Quick answers — read this first
How much choice do I actually have here? None, and I would rather say that than dress one bottle up as a shortlist. SOSA makes exactly four attars and three of them contain oud - Nawaab is built on white royal oud, Ameeri carries a soft oudh, Mastani carries oudh alongside its florals. Adaa is the only one without it, so what you get from this page is one name rather than a choice of three. That is not a smaller answer than it looks. An exclusion that removes three quarters of a range in one line has done most of the work of shopping for you.

What is ruled out, and is the trio a way round it? Ruled out by name: Nawaab, Ameeri and Mastani, all three for the oud printed on their lists, and there is no reading of your sentence that keeps any of them. The Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 is those exact three bottles and does not contain Adaa at all, so it is not a way round anything - it is the wrong purchase twice over, being both the ruled-out three and not a sampler. SOSA sells no attar sampler and no discovery set.

So what do I buy, and in what size? SOSA Adaa, the 3ml, at ₹379. Bergamot and green cardamom on top, neroli and jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk underneath - no oud, no oudh, nothing resinous anywhere in it. Alcohol-free, no DPG carriers, on a skin-safe jojoba and sandalwood base, and it wears 6-8 hours, which is the only figure we publish. The 3ml is the sample size, so start there; the 6ml is ₹669 and the 12ml ₹1,149 once you know it is yours rather than before.
The short answer
Short answer: SOSA Adaa, the 3ml at ₹379, and it is the only bottle left rather than the best of several. SOSA makes exactly four attars and three of them contain oud: Nawaab is white royal oud, Ameeri carries a soft oudh, Mastani carries oudh. All three are ruled out, and so is the Pack of 3 at ₹1,055, which is exactly those three and excludes Adaa. Adaa is bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk, alcohol-free, with no DPG carriers, and it wears 6-8 hours. The jasmine sambac is the one thing left to check: if flowers are also out, no SOSA attar is your bottle and Samundar or Khayaal is the honest route.
The pick: the 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk, with no oud and nothing resinous in it, alcohol-free, and it wears 6-8 hours. If the jasmine rules it out for you as well, then no SOSA attar fits and the honest alternatives are SOSA Samundar, an aquatic marine, and SOSA Khayaal, a sparkling bergamot and neroli, both ₹599 for 10ml and neither of them an attar.
Next step: send me the exclusion in your own words plus anything else you would refuse, and I will apply both to all four attars and tell you what is left - including the answer that nothing is - Ask for an attar recommendation.
Oud absolutely out - the decision, in five linesAdaa 3ml, ₹379 - the one survivor of our fourThree of four carry oud. This is not a choice.Out: Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani, the Pack of 3₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12mlIf jasmine is out too, no attar here is yours
Four of those five lines are subtractions, and the last one may take the answer away from you entirely. A page that arrived at one bottle without showing you the crossings-out would be a pitch rather than advice.
SOSA Adaa - tap through and check the note list yourself
Straight answer
Which SOSA attar should somebody buy when oud is the one note they absolutely will not have?
SOSA Adaa, the 3ml, at ₹379 - and since this is the decision page for the family, here is the whole subtraction rather than the conclusion on its own. SOSA makes exactly four attars: Adaa, Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab. Three of them contain oud and one does not. Nawaab is built on white royal oud, with Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron, aged tobacco, leather and amber around it - the heaviest thing we make for skin, and out. Ameeri carries a soft oudh under Taif rose, real Indian sandalwood and Persian saffron; soft is a description of how much, not of whether, so it is out too. Mastani carries oudh alongside night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, Mysore sandalwood, vanilla and tonka, and it is out. The Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani - precisely the three you have just ruled out, with no Adaa in it at all - so it is not a cheaper route to finding your bottle, and it is not a sampler either, because we sell no attar sampler and no discovery set. What is standing when that is done is Adaa: bergamot and green cardamom on top, neroli and jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk in the base, with no oud, no oudh and nothing resinous anywhere on the list. I want to be careful about how I hand it over. Adaa is a survivor of your exclusion rather than a bottle chosen for you, and those two things read identically unless somebody shows you the working, which is why the working is above. It is alcohol-free, it carries no DPG, it sits on a skin-safe jojoba and sandalwood base, it is hand-blended in Pune, and it wears 6-8 hours - the only longevity figure we publish, with nothing published for the perfume line or the solid body perfumes. Buy the 3ml at ₹379 first; the 6ml is ₹669 and the 12ml ₹1,149 for after you know. One more disclosure, and it may take the answer away: Adaa carries jasmine sambac, in a supporting role rather than as the subject of the composition, but it is in the bottle and printed on the listing. If flowers are also out for you, then no SOSA attar is your bottle - there is no fifth one - and the honest route is Samundar, our aquatic marine, or Khayaal, a sparkling bergamot and neroli, both ₹599 for 10ml and neither of them an attar. And the standing limits: SOSA publishes no outcome claim for a fragrance, because there is no honest way to measure one, and makes no health or skin-safety claim of any kind - how your skin responds to a material is a question for a doctor and not for a perfumer. Ask for an attar recommendation and send me anything else you would refuse.
One bottle, and it is a survivor rather than a pick: Adaa, the 3ml, at ₹379. Nawaab, Ameeri and Mastani all print an oud, so all three go, and the Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 is exactly those three with no Adaa in it. Adaa carries jasmine sambac, and if flowers are out as well, no SOSA attar fits and the honest answer is Samundar or Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml.
The survivor is SOSA Adaa and the size is the 3ml: bergamot and green cardamom over neroli and jasmine sambac, with white musk underneath and no oud, no oudh and no resin on the list at all. Alcohol-free, no DPG carriers, wears 6-8 hours. ₹379, and the trio at ₹1,055 is the other three.

How this page reached one name
Four bottles in, three crossed off for a note printed on their own listings, one standing

The bottle, and the size to buy

One attar, and the honest alternative for the reader whose second exclusion takes even that away. Both cards go through to the listing, because the note list is what did the crossing-off and you should be able to check it.

SOSA Adaa
The one of four with no oud on its list
SOSA Adaa, 3ml
Bergamot and green cardamom on top, neroli and jasmine sambac in the heart, white musk in the base. No oud, no oudh, nothing resinous. The lightest of our four attars, alcohol-free, no DPG carriers, on a skin-safe jojoba and sandalwood base, and it wears 6-8 hours. ₹379 for the 3ml, which is the size to buy first.
From ₹379
SOSA Samundar
If the jasmine rules Adaa out as well
SOSA Samundar, 10ml
Not an attar, and named honestly as such. On the SOSA perfume line, described by SOSA name and accord only: an aquatic marine, with no floral and nothing resinous in the accord. No note list and no wear figure is published for that line, so this is a trade of information for fit. ₹599 for 10ml.
From ₹599
SOSA Adaa
The one attar left standing after your exclusion
SOSA Adaa
3ml, 6ml and 12ml at ₹379, ₹669 and ₹1,149. Published notes: bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. An alcohol-free perfume oil with no DPG carriers on a skin-safe jojoba and sandalwood base, composed by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer and hand-blended in Pune. It wears 6-8 hours, which is the only longevity figure SOSA publishes. Positioned for office hours and daytime weddings. No oud, no vanilla, no rose.

The subtraction, done in public

Three steps, and the third is the one most pages in this category leave out: what you do when the survivor fails too.

1
Watch the crossing-off rather than the answer
A survivor and a recommendation look identical unless somebody shows the working
If I simply wrote Adaa at the top of this page, you would have no way of telling whether it was the bottle that fits you or the bottle I most wanted to sell. So the arithmetic goes first. Four attars. Nawaab prints white royal oud. Ameeri prints soft oudh. Mastani prints oudh. Adaa prints no oud at all. Three of four come off for a word on their own listings, not for anything I have decided about them, and the last name is whatever is left. That is a different kind of claim from a recommendation, and it is the only kind I can make honestly to somebody with an absolute exclusion.
Tip: Ask any seller how many of their bottles your exclusion removes. A seller who cannot answer in a number is guessing.

See SOSA Adaa →
2
Then buy the survivor small
The 3ml is the sample size, and the trio is exactly what you ruled out
There is no clever way to test this cheaply, because we sell no attar sampler and no discovery set. The Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 looks like the obvious economy and it is the opposite: it is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, so all three bottles in it carry the note you have excluded, and Adaa is not included. Buy the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379 instead, put one roll on one pulse point, and wear it through an ordinary day. Judge it in the evening rather than in the first ten minutes, because with no alcohol in it there is no dramatic opening to judge and the base is the part you will live with. Then the 6ml at ₹669 or the 12ml at ₹1,149 if it is yours.
Tip: One roll, one point, one full day. That is the whole test, and it costs ₹379.
SOSA Adaa
Not the Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 - it is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, and no Adaa
See SOSA Adaa →
3
Then know what to do if the survivor fails too
There is no fifth attar, so the next honest step is off the attar shelf
Adaa carries jasmine sambac. It sits in the heart in a supporting role rather than as the subject, and it is on the listing, and if flowers are also out for you then this bottle is not yours either. At that point I have nothing further on the attar shelf, because SOSA makes exactly four and every one of them carries a floral, an oud, or vanilla and tonka. The honest route is then the perfume line: Samundar, an aquatic marine, or Khayaal, a sparkling bergamot and neroli, both ₹599 for 10ml, named by SOSA name and accord only because no note list is published for that line. And buying nothing yet is a legitimate third answer.
SOSA Samundar
SOSA Samundar and SOSA Khayaal, ₹599 for 10ml - accord only, and neither is an attar
See SOSA Samundar →
The SOSA principle
One bottle left at the end of a subtraction is a survivor rather than a recommendation, and those two things look identical on a page unless the crossings-out are printed with it.
Which is why this page spends its first screen removing three quarters of its own attar shelf before it names anything at all.
SOSA Adaa
The survivor, and the whole of the answer: SOSA Adaa is the only one of our four attars with no oud on its list. ₹379 for the 3ml, and the 3ml is the sample size.

The questions that come after it

One bottle is a short answer, so here are the six follow-up questions readers actually send me once they have it, each with the honest reply.

The SOSA shortlist
What to ask next, once the subtraction has left you with one bottle
The next question What to do
Is a small amount of oud acceptable to me?
Only you can answer that, and this page assumes no. Ameeri's oudh is described as soft, which is a statement about quantity rather than presence, so a reader who can accept a trace has a second option at ₹385 - and a reader who cannot has one bottle, which is the premise here.
Was it the wood I wanted, rather than the resin?
Then say so plainly: SOSA makes no oud-free woody attar. Every woody note in the range sits in a bottle that also carries an oud, and Adaa is dry rather than woody. That is a gap, and I would rather name it than let an adjective cover it.
Is it the smoke I cannot wear, rather than the oud?
The smoky reading usually comes from aged tobacco, leather and tar sitting beside the oud rather than from the oud itself - all three are in Nawaab. It is still oud, so it is still out here, but it changes what you scan for on other shelves.
Is the jasmine in Adaa a problem for me?
If flowers are out, yes, and then no SOSA attar fits at all - Adaa has jasmine sambac, Ameeri has rose, Mastani has both, Nawaab has oud. That is the whole range, and it ends without a bottle for you.
SOSA KhayaalWould I rather spray than dab?
Then the honest answer is not an attar. Khayaal is a sparkling bergamot and neroli and Samundar is an aquatic marine, both ₹599 for 10ml on the SOSA perfume line, described by accord only because no note list is published for it.
SOSA AdaaWhich size do I buy first?
The 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, because SOSA sells no attar sampler and the 3ml is the sample size. The 6ml is ₹669 and the 12ml ₹1,149 once you know. The Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 is the three bottles you ruled out.

Two pages behind this one are worth the time if the answer above did not settle it. Which woody perfume oil to choose if oud is too heavy for you is the page that admits SOSA makes no oud-free woody attar, in case wood rather than resin was the point. And whether to try sandalwood, vetiver or musk if you dislike oud answers all three of those notes honestly, including the warning that the vetiver on the store is a car perfume and must never go on skin. SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and every attar named here is its own composition.

SOSA Adaa
The three that carry the note, by name: Nawaab's white royal oud, Ameeri's soft oudh, Mastani's oudh. All three out, and the Pack of 3 at ₹1,055 is exactly those three.
One survivor, one size, one pulse point
SOSA Adaa is ₹379 for 3ml - the only one of our four attars with no oud on its list.

Read the table as the end of a subtraction rather than as a shortlist. SOSA makes exactly four attars and three of them contain oud - Nawaab, Ameeri and Mastani - all three named on this page as ruled out, along with the Pack of 3 at ₹1,055, which is exactly those three bottles and excludes Adaa. It is not a sampler: SOSA sells no attar sampler and no discovery set, and the 3ml at ₹379 to ₹399 is the sample size. Adaa carries jasmine sambac, disclosed here rather than buried, and if florals are also out then no SOSA attar fits at all. The only longevity figure SOSA publishes is that the attars wear 6-8 hours; nothing is published for the perfume line or for the solid body perfumes, and no note list is published for the solids at all, which is why this page never describes how one smells. SOSA publishes no outcome claim for a fragrance, because there is no honest way to measure one - nothing about compliments, nothing about being noticed - and makes no health or skin-safety claim of any kind, because how your skin responds to a material is a question for a doctor rather than for a perfumer. A note from Sonal

The letters in this family are the most emphatic ones I get, and they usually contain a sentence bracing for an argument - that the writer knows a good oud is different, or that they have been told they simply met a bad one. Nobody is going to argue with you here. You met a smell, you could not wear it, and that is the end of the matter as far as I am concerned. What I can add is a number instead of a reassurance, and the number is not flattering to my own shelf: three of my four attars carry the note you have banned.

The perfumery reason it dominates is worth one paragraph. Something slow has to sit underneath a composition or the whole thing is gone in an hour, and oud does that job better than almost anything else while also being unmistakable - so a bottle built on it announces itself and lasts, which is a great deal of value in one material. That is why the format and the note grew together in this country, and why a shelf of attars so often looks like a shelf of ouds. It is a commercial history rather than a rule about oils, and Adaa exists because a dry white musk will hold a composition too, with far less material and none of the density.

So: one bottle and the smallest size, Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml, because we sell no sampler and the 3ml is how you test an attar without a blind buy at ₹1,149. Crossed off in public: Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and the Pack of 3. And the jasmine sambac in Adaa, said here rather than discovered on your own wrist - if that is out too, there is no fifth attar and I will tell you so. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Which SOSA attar should I buy if oud is the one note I absolutely don't want?
SOSA Adaa, and buy the 3ml at Rs 379. SOSA makes exactly four attars and three of them contain oud: Nawaab is built on white royal oud, Ameeri carries a soft oudh, and Mastani carries oudh. Adaa is the only one without it - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk, with nothing resinous on the list. It is alcohol-free, has no DPG carriers and wears 6-8 hours. Adaa does carry jasmine sambac, which is worth knowing before you buy.
Is Adaa the best of the four, or just the only one left?
The only one left, and the distinction matters. Your exclusion removed three bottles for a word printed on their own listings, and Adaa is what remained rather than a bottle I selected for you. It happens to be the lightest composition SOSA makes and it was composed for office hours and daytime weddings, so it is a perfectly good bottle on its own terms. But a survivor and a recommendation are different claims, and you are entitled to know which one you are being handed.
Would the Pack of 3 let me try the range cheaply?
No, and it is the wrong purchase twice over. The Pack of 3 at Rs 1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, which is exactly the three attars that contain oud, and Adaa is not in it. It is also not a sampler: it is three full-size bottles, and SOSA sells no attar sampler and no discovery set at all. The 3ml at Rs 379 to Rs 399 is the sample size. Buy one 3ml of Adaa and wear it for a full day before deciding anything.
Ameeri's oudh is described as soft. Does that make it an option?
Soft is a description of how much, not of whether, so on a strict reading it is out. Ameeri is Taif rose, real Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron and soft oudh, with no synthetic rose, at Rs 385 for the 3ml. A reader who can accept a trace of oudh has a second honest option there and I would not hide it. A reader who has excluded oud absolutely, which is the premise of this page, has one bottle, and it is Adaa.
What if I also dislike floral notes?
Then no SOSA attar is your bottle, and I would rather say so than sell you one anyway. Adaa carries jasmine sambac, Ameeri carries Taif rose, Mastani carries both jasmine and rose, and Nawaab has no floral but is built on oud. That is all four. The honest alternatives are on the SOSA perfume line: Samundar, an aquatic marine, and Khayaal, a sparkling bergamot and neroli, both Rs 599 for 10ml, described by accord only and neither of them an attar.
SOSA Adaa
And the one thing that could still rule Adaa out: The jasmine sambac in its heart. If flowers are also out, no SOSA attar fits, and Samundar or Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml is the honest route.

Facts verified 17 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: SOSA makes four attars, each sold in three sizes, 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. SOSA Adaa is ₹379, ₹669 and ₹1,149, with published notes of bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. SOSA Ameeri is ₹385, ₹679 and ₹1,165, with published notes of Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron and soft oudh. SOSA Mastani is ₹389, ₹685 and ₹1,179, with published notes of night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, Mysore sandalwood, oudh, vanilla and tonka. SOSA Nawaab is ₹399, ₹699 and ₹1,199, with published notes of white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron, aged tobacco, leather and amber. All four are alcohol-free perfume oils with no DPG carriers, on a skin-safe jojoba and sandalwood base, composed by an ISIPCA Versailles-trained perfumer and hand-blended in Pune, and the only longevity figure SOSA publishes for them is that they wear 6-8 hours. The Pack of 3 (₹1,055, ₹1,859 and ₹3,189) is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, and it does not include Adaa. The SOSA perfume line - including Khayaal and Samundar - comes in 10ml, 50ml and 100ml and is referred to on these pages by its SOSA name and its accord only. SOSA publishes no note list and no longevity figure for the solid body perfumes or for the perfume line, so neither is given here, and how a solid body perfume smells is never described. SOSA sells no attar sampler and no discovery set, which is why the 3ml is the sample size and is what these pages recommend buying first. Free shipping above ₹499 is the only logistics fact stated on these pages. Choosing a fragrance is a matter of preference: SOSA makes no health, skin-safety, hypoallergenic, therapeutic or wellbeing claim for any fragrance, makes no claim about compliments, confidence or any other outcome of wearing one, and offers nothing here as medical advice - a reaction on skin is a conversation for a doctor rather than for a perfumer.
