Honest answer first: the literal watery effect comes from aquatic materials, and I do not make an aquatic. Here is the alternative route to the same lightness, and how to decide whether it is what you want.
Quick answers — read this first
What creates a watery effect? Aquatic and ozonic materials - synthetic molecules that suggest sea air, rain and wet stone. There is no natural "water" note.

Do you make one? No. My range contains no aquatic or ozonic material at all, which on this brief is a genuine limitation.

What is the alternative? Transparency - a light structure with nothing dense in it. Adaa is light without being watery.
The short answer
Clean is an effect, not a family. It comes from three things together: a bright citrus-green top, no sugar anywhere, and a clean white musk base that reads as skin.
The non-negotiable. No sugar. Sweetness is the single thing that stops a fragrance reading as clean, and it is in most "fresh" bottles. Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free and DPG-free.
SOSA in one line. Alcohol-free, DPG-free, IFRA-compliant attars on a jojoba and Mysore sandalwood base, 6-8 hours on skin, 3ml / 6ml / 12ml, ₹379-₹1,199, hand-blended in Pune.
Start here. For clean, Adaa 3ml at ₹379 - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. It is the only genuinely clean composition I make.
What actually creates a "clean" impression (illustrative)Clean white musk base — the skin-like effect that lastsCitrus and green top — the fresh impression, first 40 minutesSugar or heavy florals — where "clean" stops reading as clean
Illustrative only. Clean is an effect rather than a fragrance family: a bright citrus-green opening gives the first impression, and a clean white musk base is what still reads as clean at hour four.

Straight answer
So which roll-on gives a light watery freshness?
If you mean literally watery, you want an aquatic - and I do not make one, so buy it elsewhere. If what you actually want is lightness, there is a second route: a transparent structure with few materials, nothing dense at the base and no sugar anywhere. That produces an airy, uncrowded freshness that reads as light without the marine quality. Adaa is the second kind. Worth knowing before you buy: many people who ask for watery turn out to want light, and the two are not the same purchase.
Short version: watery and light are different requests. One needs an aquatic; the other needs transparency.
Want the short path? Adaa is light rather than watery — and I will point you elsewhere if watery is what you mean.

The 3 things to settle

This is the brief where my range genuinely does not have the obvious answer, so the useful thing I can do is help you work out which question you are actually asking.

What "clean" actually means
Clean is not a fragrance family - it is an effect, produced by a specific combination: bright citrus and green materials on top, no sugar anywhere, and a clean white musk base that reads as skin rather than as perfume. Remove any one of those three and the effect collapses.
1
Criterion one
What an aquatic actually is
A set of synthetic molecules - there is no natural water note, because water has no smell. They suggest sea air, rain on stone and cut melon, and they are extremely effective. They are also the single most overused family in fresh fragrance, which is why so many bottles are interchangeable.
2
Criterion two
The transparent alternative
Lightness produced by structure rather than by a material: a small number of transparent ingredients, nothing dense at the base, no sugar. It reads as uncrowded and clean rather than as marine. It is subtler, it does not sound like everything else, and it will not scratch the itch if what you love is specifically the aquatic effect.

Adaa — daytime grace. Light rather than watery — transparency by structure, with no aquatic material anywhere. From ₹379 (3ml).Shop Adaa →
My one pick
Light, not marine: Adaa. Genuinely want watery? Buy an aquatic elsewhere.
Shop Adaa - from ₹379 →
3
Criterion three
How to tell which you want
Smell a well-made aquatic and ask whether the specific marine-mineral quality is the part you love, or whether it is the general lightness. If the first, buy an aquatic from a house that specialises. If the second, a transparent composition will serve you better and sound more like you.
4
Criterion four
What I do not make, said plainly
I do not make an aquatic - no marine or ozonic composition in my range - and I do not make a standalone white musk. Both are legitimate routes to clean and both are specialisms. What I make is a citrus-green-musk, which is the third route, and it is the only genuinely clean composition in my range.
The buying checklist
The criteria - and how to check each one yourself
What to look for Why it matters for a clean scent How to check
Clean white musk base This is what still reads as clean at hour four What is the base note?
No sugar anywhere Sweetness is what breaks the clean effect Check for vanilla, tonka, amber
Bright citrus-green top Gives the first fresh impression Bergamot, neroli, cardamom?
A real anchor under the citrus Citrus alone is gone in 40 minutes What holds the brightness?
Close projection Clean is a close-range effect Does it sit near the skin?
Oil base, no alcohol No sting, no sharp evaporation Ask: alcohol-free? DPG-free?
Small dose Over-applying destroys the clean effect One dab, not two
Stated longevity Clean should not mean short Hours on skin, in writing
"Water has no smell. Every "watery" fragrance is a synthetic suggestion of one."

Where SOSA sits - and where another attar might suit you better

This is the one brief in the whole cluster where I would send someone to another house without hesitation. I do not make an aquatic and there is no point pretending a transparent citrus-musk is the same thing.

The honest position
Settle the question first: watery or light?
Where I think we earn a place on your shortlist: only if what you want is lightness rather than the marine effect - in which case a transparent structure with real materials is the better version of it. Where another house might suit you better: if you want an aquatic, buy an aquatic. I make none and will not pretend otherwise.
Three things "clean fragrance" advice gets wrong
✕
"Clean means weak." It does not. Clean is about the materials - no sugar, clean musk, bright top - not about strength. A clean fragrance can last eight hours and still read as skin.
✕
"All fresh fragrances smell the same." Most of the cheap ones do, because they lean on the same handful of inexpensive fresh materials. The difference is what sits underneath - real cardamom and neroli, or nothing.
✕
"Clean is boring." Only when it is thin. A clean composition with real material is quietly interesting all day - reviews here are illustrative, not a guarantee.

Work out which of the two you mean before spending anything. If it is lightness, Adaa is my answer; if it is water, it is not.

The SOSA attar range

A note from Sonal

"I just want to smell clean" is the single most common thing anyone says to me, and it is a harder brief than it sounds - because clean is not a fragrance family. It is an effect, and it takes three things at once: a bright citrus-green opening, a clean white musk base that reads as skin rather than as perfume, and no sugar anywhere.

That third condition is why so many bottles sold as fresh do not stay clean. Sweetness is inexpensive and it tests well at a counter, so it finds its way into almost everything - and by hour three you are wearing something that announces itself as perfume rather than as a person who is well-groomed.

Adaa is the only genuinely clean thing I make, and I would rather say that plainly than stretch the word across my whole range. I do not make an aquatic and I do not make a standalone white musk. If those are what you want, buy them from someone who does - and if a clean citrus-green-musk is what you are after, mine is worth your ₹379.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make an aquatic or a pure white musk attar?
No to both, and I would rather say so. My range has no marine or ozonic composition and no standalone white musk. What I make is a citrus-green-musk, which is a third route to the same impression - and if you specifically want an aquatic, buy one from a house that makes them.
Which SOSA attar smells cleanest?
Adaa - bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac and white musk. It is the only genuinely clean composition in the range; Ameeri is warm, Mastani is rich and Nawaab is deep, and I would not sell any of them as fresh. From ₹379.
Why do so many fresh perfumes smell the same?
Because the inexpensive route to freshness uses a small set of the same synthetic materials, with very little underneath them. The difference between one clean fragrance and another shows up at hour two, not at the counter - so test on skin and wait.
Does "clean" mean the fragrance is weak?
No. Clean is a property of the materials - no sugar, a clean musk base, a bright top - not of the strength. SOSA attars wear 6-8 hours on skin, and the clean effect lasts as long as the scent does because the musk base is what creates it.
How long does a clean attar last on skin?
6-8 hours for the SOSA range, slightly longer on warm or oily skin. The citrus impression fades within the first hour; what remains, and what still reads as clean, is the musk base.
