What buyers ask us about hotel and spa scents
Including the questions where the answer is "we do not make that" and "you cannot put that on your skin"
"I want to smell like a luxury hotel lobby. What do I buy?"
Usually a clean white musk with soft woods. In our range that is Adaa. What we will not do is tell you it reproduces any particular hotel, because it does not and we have no authorisation to try.
Hotel-inspired scent · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Can I wear my reed diffuser oil as a perfume?"
No. Reed oil is assessed for evaporation from a reed in a room, not for leave-on skin application. They are different use cases with different exposure, and we will not sell you one as the other.
Home against skin · answered by Sonal Sahani
"You make a lavender reed diffuser. Do you make a lavender attar?"
No. Evening Calm is Himalayan lavender and chamomile for a room. We do not make a lavender attar, and rather than steer you to something that is not lavender, we will tell you that plainly.
What we do not make · answered by Sonal Sahani
"I want white tea and clean hotel linen on my skin."
We do not make that as an attar. Adaa is the closest thing we have, and it is citrus and jasmine sambac over white musk rather than a linen accord. If linen is the point, we are not your brand for it.
Clean linen · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Which hotel is the Hotel Collection based on?"
It is our own interpretation of a style of hospitality scenting. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group, and it is an ultrasonic diffuser fragrance for rooms rather than a skin product.
Independence · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Will it last all day like my spray?"
We do not publish hour figures for any fragrance, because how long one seems to last depends on your skin, the weather and how quickly you stop noticing it. An oil-carried attar sits close rather than projecting.

Founder Diaries · Luxury Hotel & Spa Inspired Fragrance
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 13 min read Updated October 2026
Two questions settle this, and the order matters. First, which hospitality atmosphere you are actually after, because the heritage Indian version and the international clean version are opposite briefs. Second, how much presence you are willing to carry, because that decides intensity independently of family.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the first question? Which atmosphere: heritage Indian luxury built on sandalwood, rose, jasmine and saffron, or international clean luxury built on musk and abstraction. These are opposite briefs and almost nothing serves both.

What is the second question? How much presence you will accept. Low presence means someone notices at arm's length. High presence means the fragrance arrives before you do. This is independent of family and most regret comes from getting it wrong.

How do the four map? Clean and low presence: Adaa Rs 379. Heritage and moderate: Ameeri Rs 385. Heritage and high: Nawaab Rs 399. Floral and high: Mastani Rs 389. The trio of the last three is Rs 1,055 and saves Rs 118.
The short answer
Short answer: Answer two questions. Which atmosphere: heritage Indian or international clean. And how much presence: low, moderate or high. Clean and low is Adaa Rs 379, heritage and moderate is Ameeri Rs 385, heritage and high is Nawaab Rs 399, floral and high is Mastani Rs 389.
The honest limit: no fragrance we sell reproduces any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary scent, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any of them. Where we do not make a family, we say so rather than recommending something adjacent.
Home is not skin: reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. Attars and solid perfumes are the skin products.
Where a hotel-style scent actually lives - and what it is assessed forUltrasonic mist diffuser - water-based Hotel Collection fragrance, room useReed diffuser - its own alcohol-free reed oil, room useAttar or solid perfume - assessed for leave-on skinThe three do not interchangeA scent family can cross between them. A formulation cannot, because the exposure is different.
You can carry a scent family from a room to your skin. You cannot carry a formulation, because a product assessed for evaporating in a room has not been assessed for sitting on you. That distinction is the whole of this guide.
Straight answer
Which one should I actually buy?
Answer two questions and the grid gives you one bottle. Question one, which atmosphere. Heritage Indian luxury is sandalwood, rose, jasmine, saffron and restrained resin: warm, specific, and unmistakably from somewhere. International clean luxury is musk and abstraction: cool, quiet, deliberately unplaceable. These are opposite briefs and almost nothing serves both well. Question two, how much presence. Low means someone notices at arm's length and nowhere else. Moderate means a small room knows. High means the fragrance arrives before you do. This is independent of family, and most buying regret in this category comes from getting presence wrong rather than family wrong. Then read across. Clean and low: Adaa ₹379, bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. Heritage and moderate: Ameeri ₹385, Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. Heritage and high: Nawaab ₹399, white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron. Floral and high: Mastani ₹389, night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh. +91 96192 18531.
Atmosphere first, presence second. Heritage or clean, then low, moderate or high. Two answers, one bottle.
If the brief is clean, quiet and expensive-feeling, the honest starting point in our range is Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml. If it is polished woods, Nawaab at ₹399.
from ₹379

Two questions, then one bottle

Presence deserves more attention than it usually gets, because it is the variable most people ignore and then regret. A fragrance that is beautiful at the intensity you tested it at can be wrong at the intensity you actually wear it, and in a hospitality-inspired brief this matters more than usual, because the atmosphere people are chasing is almost always a low-presence atmosphere. The thing you remember about a good hotel lobby is that the scent was there without demanding anything, and that quality is a function of concentration rather than composition. So a buyer who wants that feeling and chooses a high-presence oriental has chosen correctly on family and incorrectly on the variable that actually produces the memory. The useful discipline is to decide presence before you look at any note list, and to treat it as a constraint rather than a preference. If you want low presence, that rules out oud-led compositions regardless of how much you like them, because an oil-based oud at any reasonable application will be moderate at minimum. If you accept high presence, the heritage palette opens up fully and the clean brief becomes almost irrelevant, because clean compositions at high presence tend to read as soap rather than as luxury. Those two sentences eliminate most of the market for most buyers, which is the point of asking the question first.

1
Atmosphere is a fork, not a spectrum
Heritage and clean are opposite briefs
Heritage Indian luxury means sandalwood, rose, jasmine, saffron and restrained resin: warm, specific, unmistakably from somewhere. International clean luxury means musk and abstraction: cool, quiet, deliberately unplaceable. A composition that tries to be both usually succeeds at neither, so pick the fork before anything else.
Tip: Of our four, one sits on the clean side and three sit firmly on the heritage side.
2
Presence is the variable people regret
And the hospitality memory is a low-presence memory
What you remember about a good lobby is scent that was there without demanding anything, and that is a function of concentration rather than composition. A buyer who wants that feeling and picks a high-presence oriental has chosen right on family and wrong on the variable that produced the memory. Decide presence before reading any note list.
3
The two constraints that clear the field
Low presence rules out oud; high presence rules out clean
If you want low presence, oud-led compositions are out regardless of preference, because an oil-based oud at any reasonable application is moderate at minimum. If you accept high presence, the clean brief becomes close to irrelevant, because clean compositions at high presence read as soap rather than luxury.
Tip: Two sentences that eliminate most of the market for most buyers, which is the point of asking first.
The SOSA principle
What you remember about a good lobby is scent that was present without demanding anything. That is concentration, not composition.
So presence is the first decision and the note list is the last one.

The grid, read against our range

The grid, read against what we actually make, in 3ml so the mistake is cheap. Clean, low presence: Adaa ₹379 - bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk accord. Our only genuinely clean attar and the closest thing we make to an international hospitality style. Heritage, moderate: Ameeri ₹385 - Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron, soft oudh. The oud is soft rather than leading, which is what keeps it moderate. Heritage, high: Nawaab ₹399 - white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron. Oud leads. Floral, high: Mastani ₹389 - night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh. Undecided across the heritage side: the trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is ₹1,055 in 3ml against ₹1,173 bought separately, so ₹118 saved to compare all three on your own skin.

The SOSA scent edit
Two answers, one bottle
Scent Why it suits the mood
Clean, low presence Adaa 3ml · ₹379. Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk accord. Our only genuinely clean attar
Heritage, moderate presence Ameeri 3ml · ₹385. Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh, where soft is what keeps it moderate
Heritage, high presence Nawaab 3ml · ₹399. White royal oud leading, with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron behind it
Floral, high presence Mastani 3ml · ₹389. Night-blooming jasmine at full weight, Damask rose, oudh. Or the trio of three at ₹1,055, saving ₹118

What SOSA actually makes

Every SOSA attar and solid perfume is alcohol-free and assessed for leave-on skin application. Our reed diffusers and the Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance are home products and are not assessed for skin. Here is the range with the honest description of each, including the families we do not make at all.

What we actually make, and what each one is for
One genuinely clean attar, two woody ones, two musk-based solids, and a room fragrance that is not for skin
Product Where it sits What it is, honestly From
Adaa attar 3ml The clean one · closest to a hotel lobby Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. The only genuinely clean, airy composition in our attar range, and the honest answer to most hotel-inspired requests ₹379
Nawaab attar 3ml Polished woods · expensive interiors White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron. For wooden-interior and quiet-luxury requests rather than clean-linen ones ₹399
Ameeri attar 3ml Warm sandalwood · heritage hospitality Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. Rose inside a warm resinous structure, closest to a grand Indian hotel atmosphere ₹385
Velour solid 15g White musk base · skin-close Toasted almond and whipped cream over a white musk base. Soft and skin-close, and sweeter than a hotel-clean scent, which we would rather say than imply ₹479
Sterling solid 15g Powdered musk · refined Almond nougat and white amber over powdered musk. Refined and velvety, and genuinely powdery, so not for anyone who has told us they dislike powder ₹469
Hotel Collection 15ml Rooms only · never skin Water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers. Our own interpretation of hospitality scenting, for air rather than for people ₹299

Attars come in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml: Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149; Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165; Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179; Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199; the three-attar trio ₹1,055 / ₹1,859 / ₹3,189 against ₹1,173 / ₹2,063 / ₹3,543 bought singly. Solid body perfumes are 15g, alcohol-free, from ₹459. What we do not make as a skin fragrance: white tea, clean linen or cotton musk, lavender, vetiver, cedarwood, aquatic or marine, and pine. Several of those exist in our home range and are not assessed for skin. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

"I want to smell like a five-star hotel" is one of my favourite things a customer can say, because it tells me far more than a note list would. It tells me you want clean rather than sweet, quiet rather than loud, and expensive-feeling rather than obviously perfumed. That is a brief I can work with.

It also comes with two things I have to be straight with you about. The first is that I cannot sell you a hotel's scent. Those are proprietary compositions made for specific groups, and anybody offering you a reproduction is either guessing or doing something they should not. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group. What I can do is work in the same fragrance families and say so honestly.

The second is harder on my own sales. Our home fragrances are not for your skin. Reed oil is assessed for evaporating from a reed in a room. The Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic mist diffuser. Neither has been assessed for leave-on application to a person, and the exposure is completely different. I will not sell you one as the other, however much you like how it smells in your hallway.

And there are things we simply do not make. No lavender attar. No vetiver attar. No white tea, no clean linen, no cedarwood, no aquatic. Several of those scents live in our reed diffusers and stay there. If that is what you came for, I would rather tell you than sell you something adjacent and hope you do not notice. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What are the two questions?
Which hospitality atmosphere you want, heritage Indian or international clean, and how much presence you will accept, low, moderate or high. Atmosphere comes first because the two versions are opposite briefs, and presence second because it is independent of family.
Why is presence the one people get wrong?
Because the hospitality memory is a low-presence memory. What you remember about a good lobby is scent that was there without demanding anything, which is concentration rather than composition. Choosing a high-presence oriental gets the family right and the mechanism wrong.
Which SOSA attar is clean and low presence?
Adaa at Rs 379 for 3ml, built on bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. It is our only genuinely clean attar and the closest thing we make to an international hospitality style.
Which is heritage and high presence?
Nawaab at Rs 399 for 3ml, where white royal oud leads with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron behind it. If you want heritage at moderate presence instead, Ameeri at Rs 385 keeps its oudh soft rather than leading.
What if I cannot decide between the heritage options?
The trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is Rs 1,055 in 3ml against Rs 1,173 bought separately, so you save Rs 118 and get to compare all three on your own skin rather than deciding from a description.

Formulation and use: SOSA attars are formulated with an oil carrier and no added ethanol, contain no intentionally added DEP, and are assessed as leave-on fine fragrance applied to skin at their actual selling concentration. Supplier IFRA conformity statements, declarable-allergen lists and the finished-product safety assessment are available per product on WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531; formula compositions and percentages are not disclosed. Reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. SOSA does not describe its products as chemical-free, hypoallergenic or safe for everyone, publishes no longevity or hour figures, and makes no claim to reproduce any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary fragrance. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel, hospitality or fashion group. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live collection pages.

General context: Fragrance safety standards set limits by product use category, so a composition assessed for diffusion in a room has not thereby been assessed for leave-on skin exposure. Nothing on this page is medical advice; if your skin reacts to a fragrance, stop using it and speak to a dermatologist.
